- Tuche, on 04/29/2008, -3/+340That is why the game rating is +18, if i am not wrong . . .
So that kinds arent allowed to play it .... - latova, on 04/29/2008, -1/+217Mario Kart made me throw shells at teachers at school.
- mithrasinvictus, on 04/29/2008, -8/+220But these "fragile minds" are allowed to sign up for service in Iraq?
- eigenweasel, on 04/29/2008, -3/+179Title should read:
"GTA IV sex video gives Thompson first erection in 27 years." - dank114, on 04/29/2008, -0/+156Arrggg. Parents need to stop expecting society to raise their children for them.I mean really sanction Bestbuy, what ever.lol
- soupdawg30, on 04/29/2008, -1/+145Retailers can still sell it to them, in America at least, but that is why parents need to be parents.
- razorc03, on 04/29/2008, -0/+106Unfortunately, some parents don't give a ***** about what they get for their kids, especially if it's a game. That is why we are having these "Jack Thompson" issues.
Jack Thompson should be going after the reluctant parents, and not the responsible gaming community. - ANT1138, on 04/29/2008, -1/+95Virtual Killing = End of the ***** world!!
Real Killing = Justice
Jack Thompson = ***** - deadnoob, on 04/29/2008, -2/+73I dont see him going after links like 2 girls 1 cup, why should he go after a video of an animated lapdance?
I'd much rather have children doing lap dances than ***** in each others mouths. - tbone8978, on 04/29/2008, -2/+71I woulda gotten away with it too if it werent for you meddling ?kinds?
- DeathJux, on 04/29/2008, -1/+66What?? Parents parenting?? What do you think TV, Internet, and Video Games are for? If we can't trust those things to raise our children, then who can we trust?????
- dherasa, on 04/29/2008, -1/+65I work in a store where they sell video games too. Many times I see parents buying games to their kids that are for people 17+. The otehr day I said to a woman when, she was buying Halo 3 that the game is violent, she smiled and said "my son is violent too." Her son was about 10-12 years old.
- DeadlyCouncil, on 04/29/2008, -1/+65Its a game for adults.
Adults have sex.
Get over it America. - NikoKun, on 04/29/2008, -0/+56M should be good enough to keep underage kids from playing it... What 17 year old doesn't know what sex is... -_-
Besides, at least in the area I live in, stores wont sell M games unless your 18 or older.
If games like God of War and the Witcher, can have full frontal boobage, whores, and inferred sex scenes, I don't see why GTA can't. - inactive, on 04/29/2008, -13/+58You know, I love Grand Theft Auto to death, but I have to admit, if I caught my 9-year old niece with this game, after what I just saw in the video, I would hit the roof. And I absolutely hate Jack Thompson. I wish he would get killed in a terrorist attack, but I also wish Rock Star had some kind of built in censoring technology to convert the game into at least a PG-13 rated game. Despite the content, I almost feel bad that the some of the young kids won't be able to play it. The game is THAT fun.
- ToadLeg, on 04/29/2008, -0/+43Every time Jack Thompson opens his mouth, Rockstar sells an other million games.
- thecosmicpope, on 04/29/2008, -2/+42Whilst parents do buy games for under age children, that can often be considered good parenting. When I was under 18 I played the Grand Theft Auto Series. Yet I have committed no crime and would never think of harming another human being in such ways. It always concerned me that my mother let my youngest brother, who was around 11 at the time play Grand Theft Auto 3. But later I realised that she did it on purpose because she knew she had done her job as a parent and knew he could seperate the real world from the virtual world. And she was right. He;s grown up very well, does well in school and is the least violent person I could imagine.
Playing games under-age is just like watching a movie under-age. If the child/teenager is developed enough to handle it then let them handle it. People don't suddenly turn 18 and become mature enough when they weren't the day before.
Parents should take responsibility, I full agree. But sometimes the responsible thing is knowing when they are ready and letting them play the game before the little sticker on the box says so. That, IMO, is good parenting, and exactly how I am bringing up my daughters. - madfrogurt, on 04/29/2008, -0/+34If you were boil HBO programming down to its most violent, sex filled parts, you'd think it was a network selling murder porn. The number of Emmy's the station has won would tell otherwise.
Every medium will have a piece that approaches sex and violence. These are very central ideas to humanity. We as a society should have figured that out by now. - refreshers, on 04/29/2008, -2/+36The following statement is a lie
The above statement is false - greenblob, on 04/29/2008, -3/+35Don't forget those government schools.
- t0x2c, on 04/29/2008, -3/+35It's only rated M in the US (17+)
- moocow1452, on 04/29/2008, -0/+31Mario Kart looted my village, killed my grandpa, and gave me carpal tunnel!
- cheerio, on 04/29/2008, -2/+32Hey limp dick, games aren't just for children anymore.
- ANT1138, on 04/29/2008, -1/+30One of those statements was true. Can you guess which one?
- HCviolence, on 04/29/2008, -0/+29Turtle shells don't kill people, people kill people.
- Onyxblaze, on 04/29/2008, -1/+29no it isnt
- cricketsymphony, on 04/29/2008, -0/+26Jack Thompson is now barred from "restricting sales through any court worldwide of Take-Two's games, threatening to sue the company, or accusing Take-Two of any wrongdoing based on the sale of any of its games" after settling with them about Manhunt 2.
Thompson's days are done in the spotlight, not that someone else won't take his place.

Anytime your local news runs a story about GTA, all they are doing is giving free advertising and selling more copies. The harder people like Thompson bitch and moan, the more people learn about GTA. I call it the Scientology effect. If Scientology didn't attempt to assault freedom of speech and just left the internet alone, I doubt I'd know the story about Xenu. However thanks to Scientology's attempts to erase critical references about their cult online, I know more about them than I ever would.
- godofpumpkins, on 04/29/2008, -0/+23surely he's being international and speaking of kinder, which means children in german, but he pluralized it wrong!
- pilot3033, on 04/29/2008, -1/+22Instead of R* having to build in censoring, why not inform your sibling to NOT buy the game for your niece? Or better yet, encourage your sibling to explain to your niece what sex is, and see if she can discern between farce and reality. That way, not only will she be better suited to deal with puberty, but you'll also be able to let her play the game so she can enjoy it.
(I bet you she understands that GTAIV is just a game, and that you can't just go around shooting people) - KokomoNYC, on 04/29/2008, -2/+23Oh good! Thank you Jack for pointing me and all the underage kids on Digg to this wonderful video!
- h4mx0r, on 04/29/2008, -0/+21I recommend using protection if you should choose to continue with your course of action.
- slavetolust, on 04/29/2008, -0/+21Do you think he'll still be upset when the 9 million, $60 purchases this week give a small push to our declining economy.
- evil-doer, on 04/29/2008, -1/+21so you are fine with the killing.. but not sex? wtf?
- drmangrum, on 04/29/2008, -0/+20What part of Rated M for Mature don't they understand?
What really gets me: They are more concerned with a virtual lap dance than all the shootings and senseless violence. - amanilaenvelope, on 04/29/2008, -0/+18Mario Kart made me brutally murder a gorilla and a chimp by putting them on a out of control go-kart while throwing shells at their heads.

Jack Thompson just doesn't like the american dream. - Surefly, on 04/29/2008, -3/+19Because prime time news organizations know how to deliver sincere and uplifting stories about truth that don't involve murder, graphic images, rape, or mild sexual content?
Last time I checked, Fox 10 o'clock news didn't come with an "M" on the front. - cheerio, on 04/29/2008, -0/+14Not only that, but i wonder if his reaction to the video was that of 2girls1cup reactions. Probably not, he probably smirked because it just gave him a Job and clients for the next year. I hate this douche bag, seriously.
- amanilaenvelope, on 04/29/2008, -2/+16so he means
"Deswegen die Spielbewertung + 18 ist, wenn ich nicht falsch bin. . .
Damit arent macht Spaß, hat erlaubt, es zu spielen,...." - Seldom, on 04/29/2008, -7/+21I'm 14, and enjoy the GTA series, as well do nearly every freshman I can think of. I'm not a school shooter after playing vice city. It's the parents fault if they can't teach their kids the difference between real life and a video game; or the difference between right and wrong.
- minoss, on 04/29/2008, -0/+13I'm pretty sure GTA4 is just the cure to revitalize Jack Thompson's career.
- Zenex, on 04/29/2008, -0/+13I watched the video in question, and I have to say, it contained the same level of sex and violence I usually see in basic cable TV shows like Battlestar Galactica, and in movies like The Departed or Fight Club. If these great movies/TV shows are alright for 17 year olds, why are games with similar content suddenly evil? Parents need to realize that if something is rated 17+, they may not want to give it to their 12 year old. Duh.
- EvilJelloMan, on 04/29/2008, -0/+13So what would we do to make it PG-13? Take out the swearing and the sex? Since the killing is pretty much integral to the storyline, it would be kind of hard to remove it.
You've just fallen into the ***** puritan notion that sex and swearing are somehow worse than violence. It's ok to show a guy blowing another's brains out with a rifle, but show a chick blowing a guy's "brains" out with a tongue ring, and it will ruin a child's fragile psyche. Gee which is worse - to see a titty or see someone's brains splattered on the wall?
And people wonder why our kids are so ***** up today. - airwalkery2k, on 04/29/2008, -0/+12"But, the only way I can save schnookykins from the possibility of seeing or hearing about such violent influences on his poor, innocent little mind is to make sure that the game doesn't exist. Otherwise, I'll have no choice but to buy it for him for Christmas because he'll cry until I do."
- makkaveli19, on 04/29/2008, -0/+12^ exactly...?
- centerblack, on 04/29/2008, -0/+12Any one else sick of watching advertisements before online videos? So annoying...
Oh and I need to put in my birthday, like that's going to stop anyone who is older than 7.
Thanks IGN. - DeathJux, on 04/29/2008, -0/+12The preceding comment is false.
