- deadnoob, on 04/26/2008, -1/+120Same ***** everyday... Critics trying to ban a game because its bad for minors. Well, *****, its not made for minors.
- LowROI, on 04/26/2008, -2/+92Stephen King wrote a book where a girl was raped and murdered! I think we should pull all violent books!! KIDS can buy these books! We need to think of the children.
- HawkeyeMatt, on 04/26/2008, -2/+78I'm going to be playing this on tuesday no matter what those ***** say. I love to be able to do that in this country and I really ***** hope it stays that way. These people scare me. Be careful who you vote for.
- glowfood, on 04/26/2008, -0/+55"we are calling on all major retailers to reconsider any decisions to sell this game."
Yeah, like any retailer is going to take the biggest game in years off the shelves. Get real. - AshamedAmerican, on 04/26/2008, -1/+52Well I'll be ***** by a moose high on angel dust, I sure didn't see this coming.
Yep, completely blindsided. - spinaltap87, on 04/26/2008, -6/+41***** critics.
- inactive, on 04/26/2008, -1/+31There's violence in GTA IV? *****
Well I guess I can't get it now because I'm for sure going to go ***** on someone, mere moments after possessing the game disk. - fani, on 04/26/2008, -0/+28Good...more the publicity, the better. Make it taboo.. people will then want it even more.
And -
Dear critics -
***** off
Sincerely,
All gamers. - inactive, on 04/26/2008, -2/+19I think it's perfectly OK to inform parents of the violent nature of GTA. Even though he hasn't seen it, we all know what it's about and can assume it'll be just as violent as the previous games. However, I DO have a problem with him trying to prevent stores from selling the game. It all goes back to the parenting. Hell, if the parents would take the time to play GTA with their kids then everything will be OK. At this rate, we'll have a nation filled with pussies, and not the good kind.
- Reaktor5, on 04/26/2008, -0/+16To play Devil's Advocate (I already have my copy of GTA 4 pre-ordered), to expect anything less than violence in a GTA game is dumb. It's almost like going to a bowling alley expecting to play golf.
It should be up to the parents not Congress to decide what is fit for their child. You already need to be pretty ***** up in order for a video game to have some sort of affect on you. Get the hell out of my video games Congress and do something productive for once. - sb07, on 04/26/2008, -0/+15yeah, just like some news channel that said something along the lines of "kids playing these kinds of games"–well this game isn't for kids!
- gregfadein, on 04/26/2008, -0/+14Why does Congress need to regulate something that the industry seems to be regulating perfectly fine on its own?
Have you ever purchased a game where the content wasn't adequately described by the ESRB's rating?
Or do you just happen to like wasting billions of dollars on useless taxes?
*edit*: Just saw that that's not what you're saying. Sorry! I'm leaving my comment up for anyone that actually feels that way, though. - dullnation, on 04/26/2008, -2/+15Aren't you an Eastern European in this one?...
- Pillage, on 04/26/2008, -1/+13Ya, I believe that is the point of playing it.
- shaynertron, on 04/26/2008, -0/+11Why is it that whenever people criticize GTA games, they bring up the argument "you get points for killing police officers." I don't recall getting anything other than a wanted level. Maybe you get money, but I'm not near my PS2 to confirm this.
- treed, on 04/26/2008, -0/+11A moose bit my sister once.
- inactive, on 04/26/2008, -0/+10there are no fact checkers in the news, the news is no longer truth and information but just another entertainment outlet. people are inherently drama fags and like to have controversy to complain about.
- JasonCox, on 04/26/2008, -0/+10Why does this happen every month? It seems like right about the same time every month, Kyle's mom gets a hair up her ass about something, and I always end up getting screwed by it!
- LuCiFer6, on 04/26/2008, -0/+10Because they're using Fix News tactics. They said that there was Full Frontal nudity in Mass Effect and the bitch that complained about the game didn't even play it.
- inactive, on 04/26/2008, -0/+8That reminds me, I was watching some Looney Toons that aired sometime in the 80s (I'm not sure if they were made then), and I was like "omg, these would SO be banned now.".
Seriously - Elmer Fudd was chasing Bugs Bunny with a shotgun and he was all "Im gonna hunt you down and see your spuhting bwood!"... they were the best thing ever. I think in another episode, one of the characters was a pirate and he said "RUN UP THE COLORS! READY THE CANNONS! KEELHAUL THE WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST!" - skoubydoo, on 04/26/2008, -0/+8Won't someone PLEASE think of the children?
- rabidg00se, on 04/26/2008, -1/+9I mean...merits of the game aside (and I assure you, I love GTA), are they wrong? Do you really need to see a new GTA game to know it's going to be violent?
- LuCiFer6, on 04/26/2008, -0/+8This is nothing but free advertisement for Rockstar and GTA4...
- ANT1138, on 04/26/2008, -3/+10Exactly. These are the same people who think marijuana should be illegal, but not alcohol. If only they'd just stop and think.
- santaliqueur, on 04/26/2008, -1/+8Get some new material.
http://www.neaveru.com/digg/stats/chicagolefty/max ... - leetdood, on 04/26/2008, -2/+9Eh, of course they don't have to see it, it has the name Grand Theft Auto and they're going to pass judgement on it and nothing is gonna change that. It's the game to blame!
- saigumi, on 04/26/2008, -0/+6Now that the average age of gamers is over 30.... I'm thinking that it is a-ok to have video games that cater to that audience and gov't + media needs to get their collective heads out of their asses.
Seriously, I was hoping the battle I fought in the 80's against this kind of crap would be over by now. But the Democrat's "For the Children" crusade marches on. Time to dig out my copy of Anthrax "Attack of the Killer Bees" unmangled edition and listen to "Ode to Tipper Gore". (You know... Al's wife) - haylel, on 04/26/2008, -0/+6If it weren't for great stress relieving video games, such as the GTA series, I'd probably be out in the streets stealing cars and shooting hookers.
- inactive, on 04/26/2008, -0/+6I agree with your comment, but how is that playing the devil's advocate? That's what everyone already thinks around here...
- wellyuk, on 04/26/2008, -1/+7***** the children! Think of the adults!
- Zer0kill, on 04/26/2008, -0/+6These people just want their names in the news thats all. Yes the game is violent, but that is why the mature rating is on the cover. I don't think Timmy the 12 year old should be playing this it is a mature game for mature people.
- pixelate, on 04/26/2008, -0/+6People digging this are kind of missing the point. Yeah, it's annoying that people are protesting before actually getting their hands on the content itself, but are any of you actually making the argument that the game's content wouldn't satisfy their claims? Like once the PTC and these legislators actually played the game they'd be like, "Oh, huh, this isn't bad at all. Sorry, everyone!"
Instead the focus needs to be on why this medium of entertainment is every bit as valid as an R-rated movie, and rather than stop stores from selling to adults, critics should focus on educating parents and making sure laws about selling to kids are enforced. - inactive, on 04/26/2008, -0/+5Just saying "Grand Theft Auto" creates a sort of "OMG EVIL!!!!!" knee-jerk reaction in the media and anti-video-game proponents... I'm not surprised either.
- ramunenke, on 04/26/2008, -0/+5bring em on. Its going to sell, sell out, restock, sellout, and get GOTY Especially with the critics bitching
- SomeImagination, on 04/26/2008, -1/+6"This brutally violent videogame must be kept out of the hands of children"
Well uh yeah no *****, why do you think its rated 18? - Supurcell, on 04/26/2008, -0/+5There are no laws about selling violent video games to kids. It's all voluntary on the part of the stores.
- inactive, on 04/26/2008, -0/+5Yes, and don't you have to be 17 or older to even buy M-rated games? The biggest mistake that the Jack Thompson types are making is that they're running after the game developers rather than talk to parents about this type of stuff.
Reminiscent of the Mass Effect Fox News scandal, this game is not being marketed towards children, yet everybody in the media still believes that only kids play games.
If parents don't want their kids to play these games, then fine. But it's their responsibility, not Jack Thompson's or the Media's. - myshl0ng, on 04/26/2008, -1/+6One is chewing on me as we speak
- Days, on 04/26/2008, -0/+5No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse

star of many Norwegian møvies: "The Høt Hands of an Oslo

Nordfink". - DjOverEZ, on 04/26/2008, -0/+5"***** critics, you can kiss my whole *****. If you don't like my lyrics you can press fast forward!" -Jay Z
- rpebble, on 04/26/2008, -0/+5We just have to wait and see what happens when gamers become lawmakers...then maybe these people will start shutting up.
In the mean time...i mean, it's not like they really have to see the game...we all know it's gonna be very violent without seeing it. It's just a question of whether or not that scares you. - amanilaenvelope, on 04/26/2008, -0/+5im a moose
- quakken, on 04/26/2008, -2/+7This is the obligatory "It's up to the parents to censor what their children play" remark.
- jlebrech, on 04/26/2008, -0/+5I don't get it! the game isn't even marketed at minors anyway.
It's like having a new stronger spirit in the liquor stores and someone is crying foul because it has a higher alcohol content and kids shouldn't drink it. I has Alcohol and kids can't drink it anyway... - wellyuk, on 04/26/2008, -0/+4Well done, you got a rise out of a few people.
- wellyuk, on 04/26/2008, -0/+4It's also up to the stores to comply to the certificate that the game has been given and NOT ***** sell this game to kids. It's not difficult. A sex shop wouldn't sell a porn mag or vibrator to a kid and so if this game gets into the hands of kids, then blame the parents and blame the shops selling them, not Rockstar.
- benburned, on 04/26/2008, -2/+6The critics are overreacting. Nevertheless I think that the game should be kept away from children.
- Supurcell, on 04/26/2008, -0/+4You mean this game is brutally violent? So violent that no one should play it? Now I have to have it. Can't wait for my government stimulus package to arrive so I can pick up a 360 and GTA next month.
- inactive, on 04/26/2008, -0/+4how dare a business want to make as much profit as they can!
*rabble rabble rabble* - redfred18t, on 04/27/2008, -0/+4get your facts straight. It is not taxable for your 2008 tax return and will not have to be "repaid."
