It has an M rating and yes there are millions of kids who play it and IF (a very big if IMO) their parents think it isn't appropriate for their kids then they need to take responsibility for that. It would be like condemning "R" rated movies because you think they are too violent or sex-filled. The game itself is amazing for soooo many reasons and yes it does deserve the status as cultural icon as much as any blockbuster movie does.

Meanwhile the average age for gamers is 17-34. Kids under 17-18 definitely shouldn't play this kind of game, in my opinion. I mean, would you allow some 10 year old to watch The Devil's Rejects or Hills Have Eyes or some crap like that? GTA is a fun game franchise but only if you're mature enough to distinguish fantasy/satire from real life.
