- Wisgary, on 10/12/2007, -14/+86This is what happens when consoles begin to allow patches. It was to be expected, PC games have always suffered from ridiculous bugs which are glaringly obvious to everyone yet conveniently slip by the testers. I love my 360 but allowing patches allows ***** like this to happen. Patches should be to fix really non-obvious stuff, and to add new content, NOT to fix things that make games UNPLAYABLE.
- Incom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32mine has once, after a reboot no issues. all in favor of a fix if this is the case though.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31"Digg to try and push Ubisoft into getting a fix."
since they've already admitted the problem its quite obvious they're working on a fix - autocrawler, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22And people complain that PC games are buggy.
This sets a new standard.
I think we'll be seeing more of this as consoles become more and more like PCs. - Otnip, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16To be honest, I like Ubisoft's games but it takes them waaay to long for them to patch something, and their games tend to be a little buggy from the start
- Nysul, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19@Wisgary
What about all the buggy console games that coudln't be patched? I would prefer to at least have the ability to fix any problems.
Console games are still less buggy than PC games. I don't even buy PC games anymore until 4 months after release. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Are you joking?
- morbo47, on 10/12/2007, -8/+18Especially since not every 360 is online yet.
- DaveHope, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Semms like the problem is varied. Has happened on two 360s i've had. Once which I replaced, and it then happened on the replacement. Occurs on both the demo (though, rarely) and on the full game so it doesn't even seem like a CDRom issue. With all other games working fine it's a really nasty issue that Ubisoft really need to fix or at least issue a public statement about.
- SGagnon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Mine has crashed (more like freeze) about 6-7 times and I'm now on act 3.
- shit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Legitimate patching is a good thing. Human error is a bitch. This is what happens when you can't patch your "final" version:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubble_Bobble_Revolution#Major_Bug - Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Nothing to do with consoles, games are games, its Ubisoft's fault.
- shin_en, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Also... There have been major glitches on the PC version of Rainbow Six: Vegas for months now w/no support. UBI only recently announced a fix for it because a lot of people were complaining to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) about this.
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I have GRAW2 and it hasn't crashed yet.
- mtownand1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11I'm not a fan of the GRAW series, but I'll digg this so it'll get some attention and hopefully a patch.
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11my buddy says the game is awesome, and has complained many times to me about this.
- computerguydk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"lol rofl lol toal n00b lol."
You're the n00b for using lol 3 times in a sentence and also using the word "toal" - inajeep, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13@wisgary I'm scared that people are digging you up. Do you think the games haven't evolved slightly over the past 20 years after cartridges? You are obviously not a programmer. Making perfect code would require the effort of twice as many people rechecking each module, line, whatever you can understand of coding which means games would cost more and take much longer to come out.
Regarding the bug, I'm not UBI's biggest fan because of the reoccurring issues in Ghost Recon on the Xbox over multiple releases so their record is spotty. Patching would have solved my wariness of them but the problem is not that their are patches, the problem is that a company doesn't see the profit in doing them. - Fox318, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I'm sorry to say this but if you really want companies to not have these problems don't buy their products. If 30% of their projected market does not buy the game THEN and only then well problems like these come to a halt.
(Please do not read this as a "YOU GOT WUT U DONE BOUGHT FOR POST!1117ELEVEN!" post) - justice7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5played through the game and online quite a number of hours..
never locked once. - crash999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Who let the hyena in?
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"my buddy says the game is awesome, and has complained many times to me about this."
I know how he feels... I complain ALL the TIME when games are awesome. It just irks me so. - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think its a little odd that this only affects some people's machines. Its one thing on the PC, where there are hundreds of variations/chances for conflicts, but this is a closed console system, with very little variation in hardware (since its only been out for a little over a year) -what could be the issue? The different DVD drives? Core vs. Premium?
(On the PS2 there are definitely differences over the years-the "fat" PS2 drives seem less reliable than the new "slim" PS2s, which makes some games flaky, such as Rogue Galaxy, etc...but the Xbox360 seems too new for an issue like this) - steelmaverick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@Autocrawler
Well, console games are becoming more comples. But still, thats not an excuse for this behavior. - nklnch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@inajeep, Obviously games are more complicated and it's harder to guarantee a bug-free release.
But, now that it's easier to patch games and consumers are more tolerant of doing so, the developers are more relaxed about letting bugs ship and aren't as strict about triple checking for any last bugs. There were definitely PS2/GameCube/Xbox that had bugs, but they were far more rare than what we see now. I've never heard of a major game on PS2/GameCube/Xbox shipping with a major bug like this. - bIuebonics, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6and then they patch them and end up breaking more games than before the patch. remember farcry?
- kamikazecow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Its not so much that this game isn't being patched or not, but that it needed to be patched. The game should of never been released with such critical errors, ESPECIALLY for a console game.
- Hoffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have GRAW 2 and have probably put 20+ hours into the game. That's playing single player on escalated, completing all coop campaign missions and playing regular multiplayer.
I have never once had the game crash. I've had multiplayer sessions fail, but the game itself didn't crash.
Rainbow Six: Vegas is another story. I've had that game crash on me a number of times for a dirty disc error. - lasombragh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm not sure why people are being dugg down for NOT having a problem. Animosity? Whatever the reason, I too haven't experienced any problems with only one exception, and that's because the host's connection dropped. On the other hand, Rainbox Six: Vegas was a glitch whore for just shy of ever. Either way, I was glad to not be having problems with GRAW 2, and it sucks for those that are having problems, but frankly I didn't even know there was a problem until I read this.
For the record, my 360's a year old. Fortunately never had any problems with it. So far. Time to go knock on some wood... - bj00rn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Played through it twice, not a single crash. Not disputing it may be a problem for other people though.
- bcardarella, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm glad I saw this here... I was considering buying GRAW2 this weekend. I've already had to deal with tons of crashing with COD3.
- larsoncc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I will not purchase GR:AW 2 until they fix this issue. I've warned others as well.
This important info doesn't belong buried in Ubisoft's forums. Contacting support shouldn't be a hassle. Auto-responses from tech support should be more intelligent, or not given.
These days, returning the disc to the store is a no-go. In an era where consumers are out of options for redress of grievances, of COURSE quality is going to drop! If we can't tell them to take the game and shove it, what motivation do they have to fix it? - Emerica, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3While I haven't had the game to experience the issue at hand, I would encourage people to try to see if they can trigger the crash, help provide some information to them to help fix the issue instead of sending a bunch of mail about how you and your brothers are never going to buy a ubi game again.
Try starting the game and not doing anything, just stand there, let things sit and see if the crash happens when you are not doing anything.
From what I understand it's kind of random, this might in the least let you know if it's something that you did in the game that caused the crash.
If it crashes by itself, give them that feedback to work with. - shin_en, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@Falcyn
If you look at the UBI boards this has been happening forever w/their PC lineup. The problem is if you keep buying buggy games then companies will keep chugging out buggy games. UBI has been doing this for a while. It used to take them a few years for each new iteration of a title. Now you get sequals every few months or so that are glitchy as hell. - Dustin00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ubisoft's spyware/anti-piracy software sucks.
Buying Ubisoft is for dumbasses. - BloodyRids, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I've played through the campaign twice and I play online for several hours every night. I've seen it freeze maybe 4 times, all of which were online games. That hardly makes it "unplayable." I think if it is "unplayable" then your problem isn't from this game.
- awalles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've never had a problem and bought it on release day.
I crash a lot in PGR but i guess thats down to my driving skills - socal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just wanted to throw my two cents in concerning UBI and Crashing. I agree that it is not the 360's fault or PC. The blame squarely lands on UBI. They have been releasing games too premature. I personally will not buy their games.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...UB-Fooled - DlGG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I have never had any problems with my copy. I'll digg it though to try and get it fixed. There needs to be a patch if this is really happening.
- selectodude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lucky for you, Crysis is an EA game!
- Emerica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While I agree with you in some respects, this game is now public and some people are having this issue, it's a problem that slipped through normal beta testing. According to the post, they are looking for information, so instead of giving them a bunch of complaining and hate mail, give them as much information as you can to help them locate the problem(s) quicker. I could care less about market competition personally, If I'm going to play a game, I'd prefer it not to crash in the least, especially on a console. If the people having the problem and providing feedback is going to help that happen and possibly quicker than normal, then why not.
- Cannfodd3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Crashing the 360? GRAW2 managed to kill my launch day 360 yesterday.. :-( Red ring o' death for me.
- dRuNk3nIrIsHmEn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ewww.
- Plinko14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2 GRAW 2 is terrible. I'd be rejoicing if the game crashed so I could get my 60 bucks back.
- giddytonk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I noticed I got dugg down earlier for saying Rainbow 6 was also buggy. Well this is absolutely true. Anybody that plays online is familiar with the issues, to the point that when commonly known issues happen, the Rainbow 6 community calls it 'glitching'.
"Is anybody glitching"?
"Dammit I'm glitching"
"Nobody push 'a' after the match so we can do the glitch" - gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ever notice that the people complaining about a particular system don't have the system they are complaining about.
- CaptainWow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Mine didn't crash at all. Played through the whole thing in the first few days. Excellent game! I hope they release a third (and basically keep this franchise alive).
- mrchin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No problems here. Seems that our consoles may be dieing a slow death and the games bigger graphics and memory usage may be causing it. Mine's been fine at 3/4 of the way through SP and some minor MP gameplay.
But dugg anyway for everyone elses sake. Cuz if I'm fine but everyone else is crashing, I've got no one to match with. - Masterrer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nor do I own a Xbox 360, nor am I a fan of GRAW, but dugg it anyway,
because I hate to see such major bugs in any type of software.
What are the execs thinking? They are basically saying screw you in consumers faces :/ -
