- aegis9975, on 10/12/2007, -6/+40>>That review sure does use a lot of purty wurds to describe a game that is the cell phone game snake with better graphics.
I know you're trolling, but simplicity in gameplay mechanics doesn't mean the game is a "cell phone game". - RalphDibny, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33Is it just me or is anyone else reminded of those floaty things on your eyeballs, by this game?
- RazorCrusade, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34There are two issues at hand here:
1) Kotaku is a bunch of retards.
2) He probably meant a mega-hit in regards to downloadable games.
And for a special bonus:
3) Why does it ***** matter what constitutes a fun game? Whether it's downloadable or whether you pay 60 bucks for it, a fun game is a fun game. I still play the ***** out of Blast Factor, not because it's a mega super awesome ultra hit or something, but because it's addicting and fun to play. If I only have to pay five or ten bucks for it, then hooray, score one for the consumer. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+35Because that's what the Digg army excels at. 13 year olds unite against the PS3 monster! OH NOES PS3ZILLA!
- Lord_oftheTrons, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32Here is a link to the game it is based on if you want to try it:

I remember seeing it on digg a while ago. With no PS3 I will have to settle for playing that on the wii from the browser :P - threepio, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26It was called a mega-hit by the reviewer at Kotaku.
And why is that a bad thing? Any time you're moving large quantities of software it isn't bad - it doesn't preclude other games from being good. We've had smash hits on Live Arcade and smash hits on the Wii store - why not one for the PlayStation store. Mocking the success of a title smacks a bit too much of a obtuse-viewpoint-for-its-own-sake attitude more than any flaws in the system or the game.
Essentially you're saying "The PS3 is hard up for great games when this fun and creative game is a best seller". I really hope we don't see more fun and creative games on the PS3 - after all, they're what made the PS2 what it is today. - quickshot56, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28Man, people need to learn to just stop posting links to anything dealing with a PS3 to digg....unless, of course, it is an article stating how it is an utter failure, and sony will collapse in a black hole caused by the PS3 exploding and the cell broadband engine becoming a portal to another dimension....
I thought sites like this were to spread information to those who are interested in exploring new trends? Instead it has turned into a brewing pot for uneducated, and unqualified bashing of everyone and everything?
I'm sure this rant will lead to me being buried, but oh well.... - threepio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Interesting viewpoint there... er... "jrstinkfish"...
However, on the whole it appears that most PS3 owners here on Digg are multi-console owners (so we weren't dissing Wii sports as we enjoy it ourselves) making your point there a bit moot.
As far as the graphics go, the game is rendered in 1080p with full 5.1 surround sound. It began as a MFA project and has had quite a bit of work put into it - hardly the "***** graphics" you've claimed.
Yes, it's a lower priced title for casual gamers; that doesn't mean it's not HD with fully DD surround sound - it means it's a lower priced title for casual gamers with phenomenal production values. Go watch the videos on the official site and tell me it's a ***** looking game. No please, I'll wait. - lakuma, on 10/12/2007, -11/+31This will be nice. A PS3 game that "Fully" utilizes the Six-Access controller. Can't wait to download it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25you call it a fancy version of snake, and yet games like zuma and geometry wars make mad cash?
casual gaming is on the rise, you should consider this might not be the game for "zomg halo, gears of war, metal gear solid" people - writh3n, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22Geometry wars was huge hit on the 360 and it was based off of asteroids, I don't know how anyone could bash a ps3 game based off of a flash game.
- naffets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Looks to be a good fun little game, seems relaxing aswell which is good really. I don't quite understand why people are forced to digg down anyone with even a remotely positive ps3 comment. If you think the ps3 is so bad, what does it matter if people see others positive comments? What exactly is it you are so afraid of or what do you think you will achieve by digging people down?
Anyhow. About time the ps3 had a "classic" downloadable game - I'll be looking forward to playing it anyhow, now all the ps3 needs is some decent retail games and it'll be well worth owning. Just wish people would stop being..well...idiots on here and digging people down who offer up their opinion of the ps3.
Digg me down as a fanboi all you want, doesn't change the fact that I own all 3 next gen consoles now - Does it? - threepio, on 10/12/2007, -24/+38Had you read the article itself you'd see that your point is invalid.
"The PS3 version seems to have found that missing component.
The most noticeable difference with the game is that you control it with the Sixaxis' tilt controls. And I don't mean like steering your amoeba like a car. No, to play the game you sort of hold the controller flat and then tilt it in the direction you want the organism to move. So to move forward you tilt the controller away from you, to move sideways you tilt the controller on its side."
This version of flOw is offering something new. The author likes the approach and the review is positive. Consider this as Electroplankton with more of a point. This is one of the first in a line of quality releases on the PlayStation store, which I find to be great. We can now all enjoy quality gaming for under $20 in the form of easy to access downloads on all three consoles. With shorter dev cycles, lower costs and lower retail prices that means more gaming for everyone. I'm "picking up" flOw when I get home.
To add a more pertinent quote from the article (something our description above could have used) :
"fl0w is most certainly going to be one of those mega hits for the PS3" - aegis9975, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16>>you call it a fancy version of snake, and yet games like zuma and geometry wars make mad cash?
Yep. Also, its coming out on Feb 22nd (day after tomorrow) for $7.99. With 1080p and four-player mode confirmed.

http://www.gameinformer.com/NR/exeres/2E6EBFBC-DD0B-4827-B9EE-80B95C63C344.htm - trc0, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Your comment illustrates everything that is wrong with digg. The community chooses what articles are popular, and like it or not, this particular one is.
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Kotaku to World: "Me fail english? That's unpossible!"
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -18/+30If you played the PC Flash version of it youd realize the complexities (or lack there of) of the game. This will give all the PS3 fans a somewhat similar control sceme to Monkey Ball Banana Blitz on the Wii, just not nearly as fun or long.
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -18/+30Interesting how folks Digg down any neutral or positive PS3 comments. Back to the topic at hand - flOw as a tech demo of how the SIXAXIS can actually (gasp) be useful and fun is worth the price of admission alone.
Personally I don't want to hold my SIXAXIS (do we really have to write it like that? *sigh*) like a baseball bat or a basketball; I would, however, like to see it used in neat ways like this. - sekhui, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14if this game had been created by apple or nintendo this story would have 10,000 diggs by now.
- t3hNinj4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12For the record, though Asteroids was definitely an inspiration, Geometry Wars was based a lot more closely off of the classic arcade game Robotron, which is basically a much harder version of Geometry Wars with levels.
- TheXeno, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13My new catch phrase: OH NOES PS3ZILLA
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floaters
- EmmSee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"fl0w is most certainly going to be one of those mega hits for the PS3."
I'll download it. Seems like a fun little game. - djbelieve, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12"While I'm a bit disappointed that the game only took two hours to "beat" a recognize that the game really isn't something you play through a put down."
WTF? Beat a recognize? Play through a put down? I must be missing something... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17Who called it a Super Mega-Hit besides you? It's just another game, and it sounds like cheap fun.
- Duositex, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Yeah I have those.. proteins suspended in the aqueous humors of the eye... damn annoying sometimes too. Especially on white backgrounds like.. *cough* Digg...
- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@Ignignokt01
How can you call it casually reading Digg when you are reading on a $1,500 Mac? - threepio, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14Is your review overly negative, filled with visions of doom, homelessness for anyone who owns a PS3 and the probability that Phil Harrison actually is Phil Collins?
Then yes, submit away. There's a spot waiting for you on the homepage. Otherwise, stow it. - quickshot56, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8It does not have anything to do with liking this article (I dugg it btw)....
The point that I was attempting to make is how many of the comments posted regress to attacking a particular person's point of view on a particular, instead of commenting on the topic of the article.
As for this article, if you do not like the PS3, or if you do like it, that is your decision and it doesn't matter why you do/don't like it. But to attack the person as "stupid" or a "moron" because they choose to purchase a product is ignorance, and that is what I feel destroys the usefulness of this comment section.... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I remember when the game first came out. I actually moderated the comment forum for the original website. It's great to see the game finally progressing.
- Xylem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Doesn't work on Wii browser.
The little creature you control doesn't appear. - Savus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6The person who made fl0w also made another game called Cloud: http://thatcloudgame.com
- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5BTW jrstinkfish
If the Ps3 can have fun games with simple graphics and fun games with over the top graphics isn't that better than being limited to only one? - womfalcs7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Formula 1 is going to be crazy fun.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6That's exactly what I was thinking! Those bloody things are annoying.
- 0olong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Agreed... if this was a Nintendo game, the "innovative" Wiimote would be called the best thing in the world and so bloody awesome. But, instead, it's a game that uses the sixaxis in a way that shows what the controller can do. All the Nintendo lovers would be up an arms saying how awesome it is and how they think it's worth the $12 they paid for it... you know they'd jack up the price.
- RalphDibny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4haha thanks for fighting my battles for me guys ^^^
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -52/+54That review sure does use a lot of purty wurds to describe a game that is the cell phone game snake with better graphics.
- swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Theres a ps3 at my office, I may purchase this $8 game just to play it here. It looks cool but i wish it was 3d (i.e. you could "dive" into the environment instead of progressing 1 level at a time in a linear fashion.
- topbravo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2can you be anymore of a retard?? yes i bought a 600 dollar ps3 because i wanted to play a flash game... GO BACK TO YOUR HOLE.
- badsn95, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't know if I'm looking more forward to this or Q-bert on Thursday.
I also don't know what is worse. Looking forward to a $8 tech demo or a $5 remake of a game I played as a kid.
Ah but next week the real fun begins, with F1 2007 - flr666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1personally I think it's worth owning (w/linux+samba+vlc installed) as a media center - even if no games ever come out for it.
As for the topic @ hand... fl0w is gorgeous and is perfectly suited for a home entertainment center. I got it on the same day i picked up VF5. The contrast between the two is educational - it shows just how wide a market this box can potentially have if Sony boosts the media center functionality (radically) for in future firmware upgrades (not everyone wants to deal with installing Linux). - negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7I have a review for it as well!! I should submit an article!
www.gamerankings.com - HunterTV, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Ugh. I have one in my right eye that's really annoying because the center of it is dark (maybe its folded over so less light passes through part of it?). It's particularly annoying when working in Photoshop. Oh well.
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4It made sense a few hours (2) ago when it was hanging around a -2 standpoint. I've seen my posts in this thread bounce from -4 to +3 in that time (the one at the top anyway). I wonder how many people lurk in these Diggs scanning through and just modding up and down without contributing - it'd be a strange way to spend an afternoon but it seems like a popular pastime for some Diggers.
- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Fl0w doesn't fully utilize the SIXAXIS, as it has six directions of movement - left, right, up, down, forward, backward. Fl0w doesn't use all six.
His comment is valid, why is it being modded down? - DorkmasterFlek, on 10/12/2007, -23/+22Actually, it can do a little more than that. It is capable of detecting acceleration as well as orientation, so it is possible to detect specific motions made with the controller. Of course, holding your SIXAXIS like a baseball bat isn't exactly very comfortable or convenient, but then again they only had, what, a few months to come up with something "innovative" after seeing what the competition was up to?
- chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Finally, a digg user who is honest with their user name!
- TiMMY8765, on 10/12/2007, -12/+10he's comparing it to snake, which I suppose he first saw on a cell phone
- TechLaw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1One thing I am wondering, will the PSN version be free as well?
