Rock Band for the Wii will have functionality similar to the PS2 version.
meaning no band world tour? ***** that- mywhitenoise, on 03/25/2008, -19/+9No band world tour, no DLC, no online play, and no customization...and yet people burried me for saying it was the Wii's hardware that caused these limitations.
- AzureRise, on 03/25/2008, -5/+20That's cuz it's not the hardware *****.
- kibiz0r, on 03/25/2008, -9/+6No hard drive == no DLC
Weak specs == no customization
And I'd guess that there's no band world tour because it buffers the next song while you're playing the current one on other systems but perhaps there's not enough memory or spare processing power to do it on the Wii.
At any rate, hardware is always a limiting factor. I don't get why he's buried and you're not. - netdroid9, on 03/25/2008, -3/+7Internal-Memory + SD-card = DLC (Wii Store could be used to distribute DLCs)
Weak specs != no customization, considering previous generations have had customization abilities with much, much worse specs.
And I'd guess that the Wii can easily buffer another song or two on top of the current one, considering it can hold gigantic maps for games like Zelda.

- smurfsahoy, on 03/25/2008, -3/+5http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/hardware
- DarKnight90, on 03/25/2008, -3/+5Not to mention that the white drums look like crap. The 360 is white but still got a black set of drums. What a joke.
- AzureRise, on 03/25/2008, -5/+20That's cuz it's not the hardware *****.
- timisondigglol, on 03/25/2008, -0/+7You gotta admit... the question was loaded and that PR style reply was pretty disarming. I did a double take when I saw that.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/25/2008, -19/+9No band world tour, no DLC, no online play, and no customization...and yet people burried me for saying it was the Wii's hardware that caused these limitations.
- doshindude, on 03/25/2008, -2/+43This version is not worth buying....it's too gimped.
- Pinkshisno, on 03/25/2008, -5/+2It's the reason why I chose Guitar Hero III over Rock Band for the PS2. It's too gimped so the price isn't worth it and I don't have a 360 or PS3 to get the full version.
- pharekyz, on 03/25/2008, -1/+25DLC that may or may not be coming in the future? Forget it. DLC is part of what makes Rock Band worth getting. Without DLC to rejuvenate the experience, those 63 songs will get boring fast.
- plantonater, on 03/25/2008, -38/+5you know why the wii rock band came out late?
...because wii sucks....:)- SteelTallon, on 03/25/2008, -2/+3Wii is cool as *****!! My arms hurt from trying to beat Tiger all day on TW 08!! Much more action, exercise than my 360 ever gave me!!
- BurnTees, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1i've heard tiger woods golf is awesome on the wii...should i get it?
- SteelTallon, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1I think it's pretty good. I have a lot o fun with it. The short game (pw,sw,lw) can be take a little guess work, but overall it's pretty good. The only thing it is missing (or I haven't found) is online play. That would be sweet! Hopefully '09 will take this into consideration.

- WazzaInc, on 03/25/2008, -8/+2ew
- badassninja, on 03/25/2008, -13/+14YES! Because i'm not dropping the money on a PS3. Nintendo is the home of "fun" games. High end games are played on my $2200 new PC. I'm not dropping more money for a system just to play one game, so I am glad they made a port.
- deaftly, on 03/25/2008, -1/+4You paid $2200 for a new PC and you bitch about shelling out $400 for a PS3 or 360?
- Rippleeffect, on 03/25/2008, -2/+1He must have bought an XPS
- Tishiablo, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1Yeah, but he can play more than one game, I guess was what he was implying..
- deaftly, on 03/25/2008, -1/+4You paid $2200 for a new PC and you bitch about shelling out $400 for a PS3 or 360?
- wertlos, on 03/25/2008, -3/+4How about releasing Rock band on the ps3 and 360, to the rest of the world first? I live in europe, and I'm quite jealous of people who have access to this game without resorting to imports.
- quaunaut, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3Its not that simple, sadly. They have to get approval by all the record labels to release it in other territories, which with a new property isn't easy until a bit of a ways in.
That, and being all the music is in english, a widespread release in Europe(which usually precedes Australia) is a teency bit less likely.

- SteelTallon, on 03/25/2008, -4/+13In other words, we are porting it over to the Wii, just like all the other crappy port overs...But you get an all white drum set....huh huh!!!.
- SteelTallon, on 03/25/2008, -0/+6BTW: I am not Wii bashing, as I have one myself. In fact I love the little fella. But I also have a 360 with Rock Band, and this port over sounds somewhat cheap for the Wii.
- Sife, on 03/25/2008, -2/+2Wow, way to not answer questions directly at all.
- rhesusattack, on 03/25/2008, -2/+22"Rock Band for Wii audio will be in stereo with Dolby Pro Logic II support at launch."
Suck it, Activision.- NeoTEKK, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2Lol.
- NenDaiKi, on 03/25/2008, -10/+5And I thought that the full $170 was a ripoff. Now we know they are investing that 70 dollars more than its worth into white paint.
Now it doesn't feel so much like I spent an entire console generation defending Nintendo for nothing. Suddenly it doesn't feel like the company I and countless others had endless faith in decided to adapt by telling us to ***** off and using all their resources to trick as many people into buying their console as possible.
Well, their shortsightedness will be their downfall. Eventually those stupid ***** casuals won't be buying a 250 dollar console just to pretend to play sports anymore, and all the fanboys that kept them alive last time won't be there to save themanymore.- MewTwo, on 03/25/2008, -4/+3More kids on this website and internet should listen to you. It's ironic that the idea about nintendo is fun and happiness yet when you support them you're getting ripped off the most.
- Chubs879, on 03/25/2008, -1/+5The game industry is evolving in North America, and it's hurting Japanese based company's like Nintendo.
Yeah, it's short sighted, but then why so angry? It's not like they're being stubborn, just different. - Cdog923, on 03/25/2008, -0/+4So wait, let me get this straight....you're blaming Nintendo for Third Parties nerfing games when making them for Wii? Last I checked, Twilight Princess, Galaxy, Prime 3 and Brawl were all AAA titles. The common denominator? They're all First Party titles. If developers such as Harmonix and Activision weren't lazy in the first place, they could put out quality titles that are on par, feature-wise, with their brethren on the 360 and PS3. The main thing that you can blame Nintendo for is for not having put out a Hard Drive by now. That ***** should've been out months ago.
- theycallmebubba, on 03/25/2008, -22/+2Eh, Rock Band is lame anyways. Nothing beats ACTUALLY playing drums with an ACTUAL band... sorry if you can't.
- dudefather, on 03/25/2008, -1/+15I know what you mean, Team fortress 2? meh, me and my buddies go into an abandoned quarry and kill each other for real
- fhernand, on 03/25/2008, -3/+2so you must surely have a youtube link of your band's performance. Why not paste it and make it known? I would like to see it.
- gilzow, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3I get so tired of hearing/seeing people say this.... Look, I've played drums since I was 10 years old (36 now). I was in drumline, been in several bands, etc. Then I graduated college, got a full time job, got married, had kids, etc. There was no time left to be in a band. There want any room left in the house for a full size drum kit, so it had to go. Now, with Rock Band, I can "drum" again, but with my daughter and my wife, in a "fake" band. Is it as good as the real thing? Absolutely not. But its 15 minutes or so of spending time with my daughter and wife doing something that we all enjoy. And while it isnt as good as the real thing, it is EXTREMELY fun. Reminds me of the "old days", if you will. My daughter actually plays a real guitar (thank you Guitar Hero for convincing her to actually try it), so maybe, just maybe, when she gets really good, my wife will let me buy another drum kit and I can play REAL music with her.
So quit being elitist with the attitude that playing fake drums, and anyone who does is somehow beneath you. Will beating the game on expert make someone a real drummer? No, but it will require at least a bit of rhythm, and might inspire then to think about trying out real drums. And ANYTHING that gets kids interested in playing an instrument is good in my book. - theycallmebubba, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1Gesh, talk about your overreactions! All I was saying is that, in a culture GROSSLY oversaturated with digital alternatives to nearly everything, it's [personal opinion alert] better to peel yourself away from a TV, get creative, and find some entertainment SANS the good ol' boob tube. I'm a gamer too, kids - but playing those digi-drums is musical murder in comparison with being free to hit what you want, WHEN you want to - and NOT being penalized for it, lol. Sorry if anyone's feelings got hurt.
- machocheese34, on 03/25/2008, -4/+4***** when is Nintendo gonna get there online system straight
- TheBrettJay, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1Dug because I agree that Nintendo need a much better online infrastructure. Then again other developers have proven that that online with the Wii *can* work; Brawl being a prime example. The fact that Harmonix are simply porting it over from the Playstation 2 (without character customization and other features not at all related to online) screams 'lazy', so I would say that the main reason for no online play is at fault with Harmonix - Guitar Hero III did have online (If marred by the awkward friend code system). But downloadable content is another matter: Nintendo do need to get their arse into gear in that respect.
- quaunaut, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1They've already ***** themselves over. Their console has only 245mb of hard drive space. You may be able to fit 20 songs on it total, if you never, ever played another game on the system.
- hobbitsareneat, on 03/25/2008, -3/+4Oh my God, a white drum kit!! Stop the presses....
- kingo123, on 03/25/2008, -1/+12What's wrong? If it was Black you know it would get no press coverage.
- NeoTEKK, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2Cue "It's cuz I'm black isn't it?" line.
- aberrati0n, on 03/25/2008, -4/+43 months ago, I told myself that if they give the Wii a gimped port like the PS2, I'll have to give in and finally get a 360. Now I get to pay $620 to play a game, yay.
- Shadow82v, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1...Your buying a 360 just to play RB? Wow.
- DavidGX, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1RB is a lot of fun, and the 360 is a great system so... what's the problem?
- Shadow82v, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1...Your buying a 360 just to play RB? Wow.
- danfuturo, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1Grab it now, as Zildjan will be filing a suit shortly.
- Coffeedemon, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1Why? Do they currently hold the patent on "ugly"?
- doshindude, on 03/25/2008, -2/+1Well at least it has Surround Sound................
- Ranferi, on 03/25/2008, -2/+5Wouldn't it be possible to store DLC on an SD card due to the lack of HDD on the Wii?
- mywhitenoise, on 03/25/2008, -3/+2I'm sure Nintendo and Harmonix would love the idea of being able to buy a song, and have 10 of your friends come over and put them on their SD cards.
- HOTM, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1You technically could do the same of the PS3.....thats where DRM comes in though...
- mywhitenoise, on 03/25/2008, -3/+2I'm sure Nintendo and Harmonix would love the idea of being able to buy a song, and have 10 of your friends come over and put them on their SD cards.
- jayscot, on 03/25/2008, -8/+2Not a drum kit. I've seen one. There are actually drums in a drum kit.
- null537, on 03/25/2008, -3/+3Hey! Not only did we ***** up by not thinking a Wii version would be worth it, but we're not giving you anything new, in fact we're giving you the most crippled version we possibly can.....BUT LOOK AT OUR WHITE DRUM KIT
- JGUSMC7, on 03/25/2008, -3/+1Yay...my wii...shall continue to be used for NOTHING other than Smash Brothers Brawl and surfing for porn with Opera. 360 and PS3 still show their worth with games or mutimedia superiority.
- bjs3171, on 03/25/2008, -7/+3who wants a Wii with 10 games and 3 controllers?
- ghrayfahx, on 03/25/2008, -1/+0Brawl has shown us that even with the crappy "Friend Code" system we got screwed with, you can still reasonably connect to 3 other people for online gaming. You can connect to friends in your list, or even play with random people. You could really have some fun with a random band set up by the system I'll bet.
- baltimoremark1, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1it'd be nice if you could use the floor pedal for racing games too
- scottsolo, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1The Bad: No online mode, can't download new songs, no character creation, no mii support, can't use guitar hero 3 controllers.
The Good: Drums are all white.
I'm pissed. - VinnieDaMac, on 03/25/2008, -1/+2SO basically, Wii Rock Band is just a water down 360 version, but hey, the drums are white and the guitar/mic are wireless at least.
- jerrycan, on 03/25/2008, -4/+0Can't wait for this genre of gaming to die out. Throw it on the heap of dance pads, maracas, and bongos and get back to killing stuff already.
- Mintty, on 03/25/2008, -3/+0I was looking forward to this...
The Wii is about 4x as powerful as the PS2, so why is this just a port?
Come on, stop being lazy!
No DLC, No Online Play, No Character Creation, Wii Guitar Hero 3 Guitar won't work as a bass, this is horrible!
The Wii is much more powerful then this.- Jookly, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1I'm not sure how you quantify "4x as powerful" on two systems with completely different architectures.
- justice7, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1i think it all depends on how you measure it
Kindof like a 4x4 truck vs a Ferarri ... they can both do things the other can't.
- justice7, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1i think it all depends on how you measure it
- Jookly, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1I'm not sure how you quantify "4x as powerful" on two systems with completely different architectures.
- Wolfgarden, on 03/26/2008, -1/+1mehhhhhhhhhhh
- GrouchoMarx42, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2Good lord, you people are spoiled. DLC or no DLC, I'm just glad that I can finally play Rock Band.
Kids these days... - TheKappa, on 03/30/2008, -0/+1Hm... Looking like I'll be getting a Playstation 3 to play this. The wii version just sounds too *****...
