- m0laria, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35Yes, because them using massive amounts of bandwidth to support tens/hundreds of servers and thousands of players should be free forever.
- Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25Well it looks like Unreal (yes, I know it's on the engine) and I see glimmers of hope that there will be PvE and some social stuff as well. I'll keep my fingers crossed but Korean MMO companies really know how to design games that I hate. I am marginally more optimistic.
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21NCSoft/ArenaNet seem to be doing okay with Guild Wars and I can't really remember ANY server problems as opposed to WoW which is plagued by them with it's glorious monthly fee.
.. but I understand what you're getting at. - AmishRefugee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13it looks like a good game, but the guns are extremely uncreative seeing how futuristic everything else is
- DesignerDave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Looks pretty solid, but I can't really see anything new that some other game has not already done. In a lot of ways, it simply looks just like another Unreal game.
- YumYumKittyLoaf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It's PC based but I beleive they're going to the Xbox 360 and possibly the PS3.
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10unreal engine 3 is ridiculous; it's the next big thing
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Because Guild Wars isn't set up like WoW. Guild Wars MMO parts are chat rooms, and the actual playing is with small groups in instanced (locally hosted) areas.
- hobbla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8They sound pretty lame too. =/
- jodokast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8estvir,
Did you forget that 99.9% of Guild Wars is instanced? The only real part they worry about are the towns...which are basically 3d chat rooms. - Shorties, on 10/12/2007, -12/+18Are they going to charge a monthly fee? I am so sick of companies doing that, you already spend 50+ on the game then you have to pay 10 bucks a month on top of that, its ridiculous.
- zaid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Huxley's battles are all instanced...so that argument is a loss. Their MMO areas will be glorified chat rooms too. Dont any of you remember the E3 demo playthrough that shows the chat room city, and then there are tunnels to go into instanced battles?
But developers don't really care anymore...since they can say "MMO", it automatically means they will be charging some kind of monthly fee, even if the don't have persistent worlds like WoW. Just look at Phantasy Star Universe.... - middl3name, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Am I the only one who finds Huxley looking less and less spectacular? Every time a new video is released I lose more interest in the game. The graphics are not amazing and the level shown is uninspired. And yes I've seen the HD version of the trailer.
- LordofChaosIori, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Ragdoll physics galore. My only gripe being it doesn't look very innovative.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Most of the time you can download the client and just pay a monthly fee. I know that Blizzard offers cheap ($2?) disks that feature a 14-day trial.
This game looks pretty nice. It's a good idea, let's hope the execution is just as good. - idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's never too early... for a salad!
- decay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Ive played both and WoW was boring...
Just my opinion though. - unk_b, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4its gonna come out in consoles and PC's
- turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4the 6 eyed uglies are clearly pve, and the people standing around are most likely chattin it up. So I am excited.
@gr8 one, don't stretch the video fullscreen. - tidu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6innovative? it's an mmofps... the only other major one I can recall was Planetside, and I think that sucked.
- 4NDr01D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4wonky crap armor
googly eyed monsters
stupid plasma guns
wheres the innovation,
we need new designs - betterth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"NCSoft/ArenaNet seem to be doing okay with Guild Wars and I can't really remember ANY server problems as opposed to WoW which is plagued by them with it's glorious monthly fee."
No offense, but that's by design. And, I'm sure NCSoft can foot their own bills for bandwidth with the massive amount saved on development. Have you really played both? Theres so much more to and in Azeroth that there's no comparison.
You could also look at the monthly payment as a way of /actually/ being able to see people in the world, and have 1 Ogrimmar, instead of telling your friend, "No wait, dude, I'm in instance 145, not 154..."
Etc, etc... - JesusFaction, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5The frames per second are bad in this trailer...makes me worried about how itll run on my machine
and no crosshair wtf? - airiox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3HD Video here:
http://xboxyde.com/news_3792_en.html - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5about time, this was only announced a freakin year ago
- UrbenLegend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Because Google video always blows up the video to fit your browser window. Click original size and it will bring it to youtube size and it looks very excellent. Anyway, cool looking game, but I don't get the mmo part of FPS. What's different about it from other FPS?
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm not that impressed, really. The gameplay looks like a really standard FPS without much different.
Also, I just can't see this game being anything more than a really extended match of CS:S
Then again, maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I really doubt it - halosniper7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4not to be the ignorant guy but i was expecting MORE innovation from this game.
- CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I, for one, am pretty damn excited about this. It's rather funny; when I first heard about this game, and where it gets its name, i started on a long intellectual journey that I've been on for almost a year now.
- UrlorJkron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There are many more targets I presume.
- EPeters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If this game is heavily instanced, and Guild Wars is also, then there is no reason why it couldn't be free to play. Guild Wars is supported by expansion packs, and is doing a fine job of it.
- raabco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Is this game console based?
- evilbeatfarmer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4MMO FPS? Sounds like a lag disaster waiting to happen.
- 4NDr01D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah the design awful
we all remember Warhammer + 40k, they got it right the first time.
sad no one is trying to build something new. - RobototoboR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@molaria
Valve does it. - RevFry, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Why on earth do people put videos up on Google Video? It always looks terrible!
- shredomatic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It really doesn't look like anything but a standard FPS from that video. Very pretty, but nothing new.
Hopefully the MMO aspects of this game will be up to snuff. Huge objective based battles with tons of vehicles ala Planetside, character progression, all that good stuff. - neongoat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree Lumiras, we don't need better graphics/sound/maps - we need something innovative. This looks like what we've been playing for a few years now to me. Maybe I'm missing something.
- Insert31990, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3This video was awesome, yes.
But the way the announcer presents the name ... I couldn't help but laugh just a bit. - estvir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's why I said ".. but I understand what you're getting at." because I understand that it's a different setup and I wasn't presenting it as a "Ha! GW can do it but WoW can't!" as I know there are differences, and yes, I have played both, in fact, I'm playing it right now on my second monitor, just grinding killing some Defias mobs in Westfall.
I got myself killed making this comment actually, hah. D:
Other MMORPGS like WoW also don't seem to have the same amount of problems (EQ, DAOC, etc) and they're very popular though not quite as much as WoW. - Mist0r_Wiggles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Last time i saw this game at E3, there were a lot of frame rate issuses. Hope they fixed up the frame rate problem. The graphics looks good, but their character design is way to similar to the Unreal characters. Could of been more creative on that part. From what I can see there is only one side you can join, unlike WOW where there is the alliance and the hord. It's just players vs NPC, which could get boring after a while.
- XharMoondi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone know if they are just going to instance the hell out of the game? Don't see it working any other way really from a technical standpoint.
- pixelmixer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm REALLY looking forward to Huxley, but unfortunately this video doesnt impress me with its use of the Unreal 3 engine. Its capable of SOOOO much more than this video shows. I hope they add alot more into it before its release or it looks like i'll be playing UT 2007 alot more than Huxley.
- Vladamir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1actually, the game is coming out solely on PC and the 360. Also, PC and 360 players can play each other online, but people with "dual retard sticks (***** you)" get a small advantage, i.e. bigger/better guns, nicer tank. NOT auto aiming or dumb bots. sheesh.
- c0r3file, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2For all the people ragging on this video, please remember this is not the finished game. Let the game ship before you start hating, mmkay?
- Daedalus81, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Tabula Rasa is more of a MMORPG not MMOFPS. And Tabula Rasa gameplay looks... snxxxx.... Oh, sorry did I fall asleep there?
- turfyman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2For a much better quality video, check out GameTrailers. It's the video at the top of the list.
http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=1774 - nathanchase, on 05/06/2009, -0/+1Direct Link to Game Information:
http://www.webzengames.com/Game/Huxley/default.asp - ZeroMP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes it will be instanced to *****. Which is why you should not be paying a monthly fee for it.
Oh wow I just threw up on my shirt a little bit while watching this footage. *****, now I have to go change... - TwwIX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I much more optimistic about Tabula Rasa than this.
