- plannters, on 10/12/2007, -5/+79Yes because who can't wait to see a graphically brilliant show like South Park in HD. I'm sure it's worth the extra time to DL the bigger file. Matt and Trey must be laughing their asses off at this.
- SimonX314, on 10/12/2007, -11/+68South Park is produced with computer animation. While I agree there isn't much detail there to see, any improvements to my entertainment fidelity are welcome.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+52South Park has crap graphics/animation/whatever deliberately. WTF is HD going to bring to the show?
- osc1882, on 10/12/2007, -35/+79I want you to think about this for a min. South Park.... in HD. Now you can see the tape used to hold the cardboard down? Dumbest idea ever.
- sergeantmudd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37Only Jesus vs. Santa Clause was made with construction paper, and maybe the pilot too. They quickly realized it wasn't a viable way to do the show. Now they use Maya, which I find funny, because they are using really powerful 3-d animation software to animate crudely draw 2-d figures
- SimonX314, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33Ask DreamWorks or Pixar.
- audioslavery, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25This is going to be brilliant
Digital distribution needs to kill Blu Ray and HD DVD already - andrewpmk, on 10/12/2007, -11/+34Let's see how long it takes before hackers break Xbox 360 DRM and upload this to BitTorrent.
- TroubleInMind, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22It's irony, bro. That's why it's funny. They mock the quality of their own animation constantly. So for them to put it in 1080i is completely instep with the running gag.
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20You can read, congrats.
- lemorex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17It's free, so Why not download it and see what it looks like?
- YoshDestroys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Keyword to look at that makes this awesome. FREE.
- marnaq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15It's vector based graphics. Scales like mad.
- unfuccwittable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Protect My Balls!
- RiverBelow, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Wow Microsoft, let us ***** Canadian residents watch it to. There are other countries in the world than the US.
- KrazyKoala, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Damnit Microsoft, bring the Video Marketplace to Canada, I'm sick of missing out. My money's on the table to buy stuff, free South Park is icing on the cake.
- noonehere, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9They already redid that episode once with new updated special effects in the episode "Free Hat".... it was a joke....
- hayseed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9it could be an animated gif and it would look the same - but widescreen + 5.1 will be nice
- marnaq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7this is my wallpaper. tom cruise 3000x2500 px.
http://www.comedycentral.com/press/images/southpark/912TrappedintheCloset2.jpg - andreo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I'm thinking other then the show natively being widescreen. There won't be much of a difference. Cartoons normally don't look much better when shown natively in 1080i then they do when they are up-converted from SD. That doesn't mean that I won't be watching it though.
- pegisys, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7maybe not so much for southpark, but I would guess it would look something like this but in motion

I saw the Simpsons movie commercial in HD the other day and the difference is night and day, and as simonx314 mentioned same for cg movies - SwissCamel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I think they should redo some of the older episodes into HD format. I for one would love to see a proper high resolution goatse when Cartman gets an anal probe.
- SimonX314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5SimonX314: "There's more to HD than just improved resolution. Deeper color, higher framerate, wider aspect. If it upsets you to hear that great free HD content is on the way then you are in the wrong place."
dbr_onix:"Again, as people have said, South Park isn't exactly the show that will benefit from any of those improvements"
South Park won't benefit from deeper colors? A wider aspect? Most of 'Good Times With Weapons' is in a very wide aspect, less screen waste is a good thing!!! - rm999, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5There's a whole episode of South Park about how directors shouldn't "improve" classic movies. I doubt they would be so hypocritical as to do the same to their TV show. Enjoy the classic episodes for what they are :)
- Raian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The Episode in question:
http://www.dailymotion.com/visited/search/good%2Btimes%2Bwith%2Bweapons/video/xirms_good-times-with-weapons - TroubleInMind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That's why they run Finding Nemo at Best Buy. Cause of the pretty colors - and lack of shading artifacts.
- bigteebo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The "local networks" have HD since NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, etc have the budget to do HD. I wouldn't expect The Golf Channel to have HD anytime soon.
- r2builder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5..let's fighting love
- KrazyKoala, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wait a tick:
"Additionally, from March 20 through April 3, Best Buy will offer free HD-DVD discs featuring the episode with any purchase of an Xbox 360 console, or the HD-DVD add-on player."
Does that mean that when South Park seasons get HD releases, they will be on HD-DVD? - moojj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Of course it is, "All Xbox Live members" is similar to a "Worldwide release". It's only available to the USA.
- ninwest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3sweet no more black bars on the sides! yay widescreen!
- Dominatus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"HD is a fad in its infancy and not a very good one."
This argument is so idiotic. HD is a higher resolution. In fact, 1920x1080 is a significantly higher resolution than 640x480. Do you still keep your PC monitor at 640x480? Are higher res' on computers a fad too?
HD is not a fad, it's hear to stay. - philbrewer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You still on dial up?
A 320Gb hard drive is ~$80. - evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, maybe a 320GB hard drive is $80, but we're still stuck with a 20GB one in the 360...
- bunnymanjp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3digital distribution wont work for a while until we have higher bandwidth and big ass hard drives
id rather own a movie or game disk then download it more value and i can resell it when i don't want it
i cant resell what i downloaded - MinisterOrange, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm waiting to see Assy Mcgee in HD. I heard you can see the peach fuzz on his right butt cheek.
- manageMyRights, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Marnag is exactly right about scaling. In fact, vector graphics (video games and computer animation) are the ONLY content I know that can go up to whatever resolution your display supports. If you had a 2160p TV or higher (yes they exist), video games is all you could really use to fully appreciate it.
- PixelVision, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2TV's just radio for idiots. Cars are putting horses out of a job, microwaves remove the pleasure of making dinner, central heating keeps old people alive in the winter. Technology shouldn't progress because I say so!
- PerfectVictim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"All Xbox Live members."
I'm just gonna go ahead and guess that this will be exclusive to the USA. :- - asurroca, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3With this HD episode of South Park, we can all welcome Comedy Central into the 21st century... Maybe now they can finally start broadcasting in HD now. Geez, even my local networks have HD feeds. Get with the times Comedy Central!
- WolfDV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1please let someone release this to our favorite torrent sites. . . or can micorsoft at least release it outside the US, canada wants southpark in HD.
- sup34dog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cartman's penis in HD.
beautiful. - gnixon70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Southpark in HD? Whats the point in that? Its not like the animation is cutting edge or anything
- nerditup, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4how does a cartoon look different in HD?
- discochew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Was waiting for someone to bring that up. The original episode was done with construction paper.
- LegendarySock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its a gig...
I'd rather have a well-sized, well-compressed, 175 mb file to watch, rather than waiting over an hour to watch less than half an hour of South Park. - LiquidTim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think its worth the download. It's entirely free HD entertainment, it's a decent episode of South Park, and it is free of that crappy built in DRM.
- supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think he means the Xbox 360 drive, seeing as this is what this post is about.
- seandfeeney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1who needs 8-bit in HD?
- HeatVision, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here's the workaround for those that don't live in the USA:
Create a free silver account with an American address (browse the web and choose a real address and write this information down in case you need it later). They'll upgrade it for 30 days to Gold and then it becomes a silver account, which is free, and you still have access to the video marketplace. Buy some MS points from Amazon.com if you want to order movies and TV shows (as your credit card has to be issued from an American bank to buy American MS points, from what I've read).
That's your fix for accessing US only content. -
