Theres soo many franchises that can be awesome games IF made so and not as a cash whore, but are turned into MMO's to make more money. LotR, Dragonball Z, Starwars, and now DC.

If Robin's costume is any indication, this'll be set post-IC. Here's hoping there are vehicles and stuff, like in SWG. I want to steal a bat-bike and drive it around the crater that was once Blüdhaven.

But since they didn't have game-cards when it was released, and I didn't have a credit card for the subscription, I sortof dropped out of the scene altogether soon after release.

Open a MySpace page in June 2008. - Blandyman, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2When you played SWG, before the CR2.0 (Combat Revamp 2.0 or some *****) you just made a character, got dropped into the world, and it played like any other MMO, except your specialties were determined by whatever you wanted to do.
Depending on how you leveled, each person had two fields (out of like, 26 I think) that once maxed out, made you Force-sensitive, and thus you could now go towards becoming a Jedi. It was a long, arduous process, but being a Jedi was worth it.
Then came the revamp, they got rid of the 26 class system, of the fun combat (it was like any other MMO, now they made it like RE4 or Mass Effect... over-the-shoulder shooting and *****) and made it so you picked one of 9 classes... one of which was Jedi.
It ruined the great part of the game... that only a select few get lightsabers.

- zerhynn, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2They slapped their SOE logo on the game since launch, had thier own SOE launcher and everything. They controlled the game. It's their fault the content went to *****. They tried to turn SWG into another "stereotypical mmo" and dumbed it down for new players, and in turn they destroyed their original fanbase. In the beginning there were no playable jedis, and eventually they enacted a system where jedis were one in a million with the quest to become one being tedious and hard. When they gave jedis to everyone they dug their own grave, and only they are to blame. It's SOE's game, and SOE's failure.

When Sony took over they tried to make the game workable and in doing so removed some interesting aspects of the game like the lack of classes.
People like to rail on Sony for SWG, but to do so is unfair. SWG was always a piece of *****. A piece of ***** with more potential for subscribers than any other game... just for it's name and IP. The only thing Sony failed to do is turn that piece of ***** into a good game. First, it's exclusive to the PS3. That console has sold less than any other of the current generation. Therefor, it's not well suited to an MMO because there won't be many people in the game.
Second, they will have to compete with other superhero MMOs like Champions Online and City of Heroes.
