- mofo196, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23I don't need a barcode to find out the answer to this.

Dammit :-( - nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9uuhhhmmm... the ps3 supports FULL 1080p. i don't know what 1080p24 is, but ps3 will display on your tv in 1080p as long as your tv supports it.
- hoowahman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3its good to know so when you go to stand in line you can count the crazies already there to see if you need to go somewhere else.
- Techneek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21) Counts cannot be off if you haven't received any yet.
1a) If you're referring to Warehouse/Assembly counts than you're wrong. Most if not all of the time especially with something like the PS3/360/Wii they're right.
2) It's telexon.
3) Most, if not all responsible Store Managers/Market Managers will tell you NOT to release the amount we have.
By the way trust me, any good Department Manager (esp. Electronics) knows how many he's getting weeks in advance. It's printed on the weekly SWAS (Store within a Store) Dept. Manager recap report.
I speak as a Dept. Manager of Wal-Mart myself. We've had these UPCs for over 2 months now. We've known how many we're getting and I know the average for each store around me. However, I've been told not to release such information and I respect that.
I've been around for the XBOX, PS2 and GameCube launches so I can garuntee shipping counts are 99.99999% of the time accurate with something of this type. - jlgosse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I found out the item number and UPC about 4 days ago and apparently the systems in Canada are controlled by a vendor.
This means we won't know how many we'll be getting yet. - Zer01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...unless their counts are off, which happens a lot.
Also, the thing that tells you how many they're getting and how many are in the warehouse is often inaccurate. Speaking as a WM associate of course. Ain't technology great? - omegacerberus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Barcodes are generally universal. The barcode that comes pre-printed on the box will be the same for all US PS3s... Very few stores actually replace the manufacturers barcode with their own sticker over top of the barcode.
- KRockXP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hahahaha, that was a good one spyk3d. Has anyone tried this yet?
- Amski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WOW!!!
yea it works, but the down fall is the telzon or telexon or what ever that little gun thingy is that reads the information off ....was legit, but it wouldn't tell you how many where going to be in stock until the date that the store receives them.....which is the 13th of nov. for most!!! SO NOW WHAT.....when can we start to wait...can you manager tell us that and when are the tickets handed out...and can we leave with our tickets...or do you really want us to wait from Monday the 13th on to the 17th at midnight..???? Because we will!!!!! - kornykory, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks be to you oh master of walmarts!
- dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2How did he get this barcode? How do I get barcodes for other stores? (futureshop, best buy...)
- raikou310, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1SkullWolf, you really have no room to say that. The console isnt even out yet. Not to mention even if you have played it, you cant expect launch titles to be the best titles of a system nor have the best graphics. There is a learning curve involved for developers.
- Konrad9, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Here's the thing. If you had ever worked at a Walmart (and I have.... please don't shoot me), you would know that you wouldn't just bark off a number that comes up on the inventory gun.
You'd look to see what product came up and then told the person "***** off" but in nice terms since that person might have your name.
In other news, PS3's are for ebay. - SkullWolf, on 10/12/2007, -6/+01080p24 would be the directly 24 frames per second spec of 1080p, doing away with the need for TC'ing the video, which really shouldn't be done on progressive displays in the first place. And 1080p isn't much greater than 1080i with a good de-interlacing chip (and seriously, if you're going to shell out the cash for an extremely high resolution display, why wouldn't it have a high quality chip?)
In other news, Sony fanboys need to quit. I've played PS3 personally, and if they're expecting a 360 killer, they're going to be disappointed. Performance is indistinguishable between the two consoles. For christ's sake, Madden 07 has to run at 30 FPS in 1080p.
BTW: I meant for this to be in response to the comment below mine - hornfinger, on 10/12/2007, -11/+0Until the PS3 or any HD player supports 1080p24 and doesn't de-interlace to 1080i whilst on its way to your display I won't be queueing for anything
