- fanfablebig, on 05/26/2009, -1/+26Bloody Roar 2 was the ***** back in the day. So was Battle Arena Toshinden.
- jordanlgta, on 05/26/2009, -0/+18Killer Instinct
- shizer, on 05/26/2009, -1/+14seriously?
those aren't fighting games - Nonashi, on 05/26/2009, -1/+13what? no bushido blade for ps1? best weapon fighter of all time!
- SalmonGod, on 05/25/2009, -1/+13Pretty good description of Bloody Roar. It was one of those games that really wasn't great, but was somehow lots of fun anyway. I miss Bakuryu the Mole.
- Bakuryu, on 05/26/2009, -0/+10*cough* Hi *cough* *disappear*
- TomKarpik, on 05/26/2009, -2/+10One Must Fall 2097
Enough said. - bluerei, on 05/26/2009, -0/+8Final Fantasy Dissidia.
- mahku, on 05/26/2009, -1/+7Anyone remember Pit Fighter? That's a classic right there.
- HentaiJeff, on 05/26/2009, -1/+7I haven't forgotten about these, and stop calling me Shirley.
also Capcom vs. SNK 2 is the best fighting game hands down, not marvel - fish6650, on 05/26/2009, -0/+5no, because you clearly didn't forget about them
- jbarket, on 05/26/2009, -1/+6I used to love Star Gladiator. The title, price, and shortness of the game made it seem like Capcom had some intention of creating episodic content out of the game, but uh... yeah that didn't exactly go anywhere.
Outside of Bushido Blade, one of the best nontraditional fighters on the PS1. - Narishma, on 05/26/2009, -1/+5Exactly, if by best you mean most unbalanced.
- theholotrope, on 05/25/2009, -3/+7Wu Tang had a video game?
- djpray2k, on 05/26/2009, -0/+4Shaq Fu anyone?
- ButchersBoy, on 05/26/2009, -0/+4IK+?!!!
- nellshini, on 05/26/2009, -0/+4He calls Marvel vs. Capcom 2 the greatest fighter of all time and then turns around and disses Virtua Fighter, calling it crappy? Does this guy play with 5 year olds or is he simply a moron?
- sanskrtam, on 05/26/2009, -1/+5Fighting Vipers 2, baby. Somebody should reboot this franchise.
- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 05/26/2009, -0/+3I remember the arcade version of Time Killers and that's it. The second I saw a giant ***** space-mantis slice off a dude's head, I instantly proclaimed it the greatest game of all time.
In retrospect being 7 was awesome. - roomforpanic, on 05/26/2009, -1/+4It wasn't on the list, but it reminded me of Primal Rage, the dinosaur fighting game.
- SanTe, on 05/26/2009, -0/+3*Psych!
- LordPhoenyx, on 05/26/2009, -1/+4THRILL KILL FTW
Also Tobal #1 - Orochiyagami, on 05/26/2009, -0/+3Ultra Combo and Combo breakers= great fighting system
- Orochiyagami, on 05/26/2009, -0/+3CVS2 was great but I don't know about the best fighter ever.... that is kind of different opinion person to person and that was a bold statement by the article writer saying MVC2 is the best fighter ever , But I do have to say I liked the roster in CVS2 more than MVC2 but I also love KOF and Samurai Showdown more than marvel superheroes. Orochi Iori or whatever his U.S. name is was badass and quick as hell!
- Chinzon, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2Clearly, enough hasn't been said.....
- alsazen, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2It's not like Killer Instinct has been forgotten though, there has been a lot of demand for KI to come to XBLA, or even a full KI3
- Pxtl, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2That's because OMF Battlegrounds was terrible.
Original OMF was a middling fighter buffed with the fact that it was the best one made for the PC, and had long campaign/upgrade modes that gave it a lot of replay value.
OMF battlegrounds was a confused mix of fighting and behind-view-shooter, where you'd spawn on the other side of a massive battlefield and slowly walk across to meet your enemy. - blazingpenguin, on 05/26/2009, -1/+3I enjoyed the wu-tang game when I was a kid :(
- Niz1, on 05/26/2009, -1/+3What PS1 games? am I considered old already? noooooooo!
I like the "part 1" nice idea if you can't be bothered to finish the article. - Cannonballkid, on 05/26/2009, -1/+3What a ***** list. How about Garou Mark of the Wolves and Samurai Showdown? Those are still some of my favorite games.
- icepick314, on 05/26/2009, -2/+4no fan of Ehrgeiz?
where else can you fight as your favorite characters from Final Fantasy VII? - tobias19, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2I won't rest until I see Bushido Blade on there.
- blindrob, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2I still have the disk and FF VII demo disk from Tobal #1
Great game. - alsazen, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2surprised that no one has mentioned Rival Schools yet (listed for the second part of the article), it can't just have been me that loved that game?
- bci84, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2Hell Yeah, It was just like Thrill Kill. Four player fighting on the PS1 was sweet.
- phrenzy, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2Correction: Samurai Shodown II is the best fighting game of all time.
- Elranzer, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2The arcade version of Ehrgeiz did not have the FF7 cameos. Square just added those to the home version so the emo Sephiroth kiddies would buy it.
- Methusalah, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2It has been so long... This series has to come back. Ditch the weak additional characters from gold though.
- Chinzon, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1It would certainly be at home on this list...
- motang, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1I actually played all of them except for Wu-Tang Clan one. Those were some fun games at the time.
- vichussmith, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1Yep! Still own a copy, somewhere. There were two sequels, I believe. I know of at least one, and played it.
- jarogers, on 05/26/2009, -1/+2Eternal Champions FTW
I loved that game.. It was hard as hell but me and my brother played that one nonstop. - GhostCow, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1People seem to have already forgotten OMF: Battlegrounds too.
- ell0bo, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1I still have that for my gameboy... broke it out last Christmas when i was at my mom's.
Time Killers though was my game of choice back then. - Zodiacspeaking, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1Eternal Champions! Primal Rage!
- Pxtl, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1Evil Zone anyone? Nothing like Final-Fantasy style custscenes in the middle of a fight to liven up a fighting game. Hah, I caught you! Now we cut to space for a 10-second orbital bombardment scene!
And I don't care what the hardcore fighter fans say, Toshinden 2 was friggin' awexome. - Halsfield, on 05/27/2009, -0/+1the mole was the best, diving claw spin ftw ! plus he had all the ninja disappearing moves that pissed people off.
- inactive, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1Screw Marvel vs Capcom 2. That game had huge balancing issues, forcing most to play a select few characters; Magneto, Cable, Psylock, Cammy, Iceman (takes no damage), Storm. ***** that game. Atleast Capcom vs SNK had a character power level system.
MvsSF, MvC, and Capcom vs SNK were all better games. - LilJimmyNordin, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1Has anyone noticed these spam-scented marketing posts and the formula they go by?
"With (whichever upcoming movie/game/tv release is on the way or just released) coming up for (whichever venue/platform it's supposed to be coming out on), we thought we'd share a list of (somewhat related items that you know and love, meant to stimulate good nostalgic feelings and associate those feelings with the soon-to-be-released movie/game/tv show)."
These lists should be buried on their own merits, but they should be buried with extreme prejudice when they're tied into some type of ***** social marketing ploy. We're on to you, scumbag advertisers. If you're going to advertise, pay for it and declare it. - alsazen, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1now that would probably be the best fighting game ever (at least when you factor in the era!), a true classic
