- VitaminK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+93Anyone who would beat their own child to death over a damned game console needs to be removed from the gene pool. Hopefully they lock him up long enough to prevent him having any more children.
- Thorlord, on 10/12/2007, -2/+57i want some big guy in prison to beat him like he beat his child.
- xrisnothing, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32Even prisoners hate child abusers/rapists/murderers.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28I hope this bastard burns in hell.
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2917-Month old kid died. Not funny.
- BBX25, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22If there's one comment on digg that's ever left my jaw scraping the ***** ground out of the sheer stupidity of said comment, it'd be yours.
- aweraw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Yeah, this guy in prison will have a 'shankability' rating of 99.98% (re: readily shankable), not accounting for the 0.02% margin of error in my calculations
- KniteWulf, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21Way to be a schmuck. A little girl died. Bastard.
- AngryBacon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I think Jack Thompson just pissed himself...
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -7/+20"Also with a name like tyrone, is there really any suprise?"
It's FTD's new Racist Bouquet!
Although I had a pastor named Toblerone once. He used to put chocolates in my front pocket... - Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15First a PS2, then a regular Xbox, now a 360? Can anyone get this story straight? First the girl was 3 months old, not she's 17 months. Huh?
- thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14I think Dante' has seen the special place for this man.
- datagod, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14He needs to be put to death, period.
- VorpalSpir, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12No, maybe they should just lock him in a room and force him to play Ghost Recon continuously...with someone standing by to unplug it and beat the ***** out of him periodically. XD
- Sakumi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Dupe, but it has nothing to do with video games and everything to do with the father being a dip-*****.
- drshane, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14I agree he is crap and i hope he gets ass raped raw in prison 3 times before breakfast--- but my main point is this,
Doesn't this type of "news" start to get to you. I know it how weak it sounds, but kids getting beat or shot or starved or whatever isn't news unless its local.
I get so tired of this shock value crap.
Digg is better than this. - nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10If he unplugs the guy's Xbox he probably will . . . you get good at slitting someone's thoat in their sleep when you play "sneak king" all day.
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12@sockpuppets
Yeah, I saw this story earlier too, but this is a different article, gives a slightly different perspective. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11"Does adding the phrase "a violent combat epic" actually add to the validity of this article? Do they actually believe the game somehow caused Tyrone to wig out and kill a child?"
I normally disagree with "video games cause violence" but I think Ghost Recon might have had an impact. In FPS games especially, sometimes things get a little heated and it does have a physiological effect. For example, you know how sometimes you'll feel a bit more confident if you've just had a great game? Of course we've got the rest of our brain to tell us that actual violence is different from video games, but some morons lack the rest of their brain. Doesn't mean the game is bad, but I think that it would be inaccurate to say the game couldn't have possibly had an effect on him. - Manguskahn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I'll pay for the bullets or the electric bill to power Ol' Sparky.

Agreed. I know its the popular thing on digg to say "games don't effect you at all!" and while I definitely don't agree with any of Jacko wackos ***** you have to agree that games must have some sort of effect on your state of mind. That's what games are suppose to do for you, give you a unique experience, and while the experience is usually suppose to be enjoyable sometimes its bad and your mood reflects on it. Now I don't agree that this was at all a sane thing to do by any circumstance. This was sick and disgusting. But lets be reasonable here. I've seen my extremely calm friends throw ***** (not big stuff, just pillows or something like that) across the room because they didn't get any loot in wow, or they can't stay alive for more than five seconds in halo. - serraph, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I'm getting more angry at the fact that these articles about this incident are more about violence in video games than what a waste of skin this person is.
- Aceanuu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8As horrible as this is, I pray that Jack Thompson stays as far from this as possible. If he joins this, *shakes head* the world, no, the universe, will probably implode.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9wow BBX25, I don't think there is a better way to put it.
- theg58, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Most prisoners don't hate murderers, in fact, respect -or afraid...
But yes, they do hate, rapist, child abusers, wife abusers...etc - t3hX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"religious people are tried by a jury of their peers like every1 else"
"Lay of the ***** crack man, your barely able to form a coherent sentence as it is"
It seems you are unable to make a coherent sentence either... - JeremiahLBurns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just a gentle reminder that gamers are sometimes really good people too:

Sorry...I know it's slightly off-topic, but I've got to agree with drshane - this kind of news does get to you after awhile. I wanted to use a bit of good to offset the bad and the ugly a little bit.
Bury me if you want. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yer thats shocking, I suffered alot of abuse as a child even the punched square in face then thrown into walls and doors, but @ least I was 4-5 when my Dad started completely going nuts. Beating a 17month old baby/toddler = Sick twisted person.

Videogames are addictive. We all know where addiction leads. The only reason there are no meth heads with dead baby's in the news is because it's old news. Welcome to generation neXt.
- raybury, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4He didn't "officially" live with the mother of the child he sired -- Miss Turman said no one else lived there but herself and her daughter when the local family services agency visited, and they visited twice in one month, which hints at something more. Another man is identified as a "tenant" in the rowhouse, while the mother, still Miss Turman 26 months after getting knocked up with the child who was murdered, was eight months pregnant, presumably again by Mr. Spellman -- a.k.a. Anwar Salahuddin, a name that suggests conversion to Islam or a separatist sect. The unwed mother speaks like a grade-school dropout. This happens on a Thursday morning when anyone employed is most likely at work or sleeping after completing a night shift; Mr. Spellman is playing video games and jonesing for smokes.
It sure sounds like Tom Clancy's fault to me, or maybe the Tyrone thing. - Miril, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That's just...disturbing...
I hope that immoral being will get what he deserves. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5@BBX25 agreed intentional/ joke/ scarcasm its in very bad taste.
intentional = lowlife
sarcasm = insensitive scum ***** low life
Im sorry but do u crack jokes @ family funereals ? maybe if i gave ure grannys coffin a dry hump infront of ure family before they lowered it in. Im sure every1 could see that it was a joke and laugh it off. - Gizza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3But still, its always the fault of the person. If im getting annoyed or angry at a game for any reason i simply exit that game and do something else. Its not hard.
- ulyssesyt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3that'll teach him a lesson.
- hockey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have 3 kids aged 4, 2 and 8 months. Never, never, NEVER would I ever in my wildest dreams even IMAGINE doing something like this if my kid knocked over a game console. I wouldn't even lay a finger on my kid if they did it on PURPOSE let alone accidentally.
I've been playing games since I was 7 and I'm in my 30's now. Trying to connect the playing of the game to this crime is just plain idiotic. The guy is a child murderer plain and simple. - herogear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Columbine? Oh wait...that didn't happen, right?
- VitoC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sure it can make you frustrated but theres a reason that most people are not in jail because some guy cut you off in traffic or whatever gets people frustrated in general. Thats why i find the effect of the video game irrelevant as it is a normal part of life to become frustrated and not throw a hissy fit like a 6 year old spoiled brat.
- ka0tic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1GRAW...Now if it was World of Warcraft and he was in the Molten Core, that would be another story but GRAW..ugh
- blackcanoflysol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This isn't about video games, and it's sad people will make it out to be the fault of video games.
What is wrong here is simply addiction, while it is to video games, it can apply to anyone else.
If the parent is on drugs, and the kid does something to the stash, this can happen. If a parent has a collection of some sort, and the child ruins it, this can happen.
But, instead of labeling this as violent behavior due to addiction, they must blame video games. It's pathetic, really. Our justice system obviously knows no justice past their own bias, as our media doesn't know how to be reliable. They all get paid, so I guess we don't matter. - ulyssesyt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Undoubtedly, alcohol can alter moods and affect you, but can it start a car and drive it for you?
dude. seriously. your entire argument was so ironic i don't know where to begin. - ulyssesyt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if you ever "fail at life", i'll be sure to be standing there, waiting to march your ass into the back room, never to emerge again. i hope you beg for your life, too.
- ArcticCelt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Anyone who would beat their own child to death over a damned game console needs to be removed from the gene pool."
You maybe don't realize it but "Anyone who would beat their own child to death" is already contributing to remove himself from the gene pool. - thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Actually most sane people will remove themselves from the frustration(if possible).
It's what keeps you sane. - ulyssesyt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so addiction to anything is generally unhealthy and can have a variety of harmful results---except addiction to video games?
are you serious? do you have any clue about the psychological concept of chains of behavior? or obsessive-compulsive disorders? of course not. your education comes from Wikipedia and Google, where you'll run to now to look up what i just said, then reply as if qualified to have an opinion. - BobsYourUncle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There's a rather large difference between throwing a pillow and beating a child to death. I curse and get pissed when I die playing video games, but I think I'd still be aware if I was beating my own child. Trying to equate pillow tossing to murder is a little ridiculous.
I've had my console yanked off the shelf and onto the ground (wife tripped over controller cord), and I was able to refrain from beating her. It's not that hard to _not_ commit murder. Trying in any way to blame the game is shifting the blame from where it deserves to be. On the child killer. - spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This has nothing to do with video games. The guy was obviously on the edge and it made him flip, he would have gone off at her over something else if it wasn't this
- Gizza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That was just a sad attempt at humour

What is Digg?
