- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22But it dosent matter. This clarification won't make it to the media, and this endless Millitary-sponsored FUD will continue.
- endersadvocate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17reading the article from reuters helps you remember just how idiotic the government and mainstream media can be
- digitalgopher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18it's the first link in the article:

Thats why the media is supposed to be checking sources. They can't cry "the government isn't giving all the facts, they are hidding stuff from us" one second and then just take stuff from them no questions asked the next. - IbnDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14yay, US intelligence at its best...again
and here is a youtube link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmUWFb9_vP0&search=sonic%20jihad - Ryetronics, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Uh, it was the first link posted in the article. Pretty straightforward to me...
- dpk87, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Even if it was propaganda so what? Last time I checked he did nothing illegal, propaganda or not.
- nimski, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14I find it amazing how fast they draw a conclusion. I guess this explains foreign policy, I.E. Invade Iraq, Nuke Iran, etc.
- Drizzit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Sonic Jihad is also the name of a band that's been around for years. A google search would of told them.
Intelligence indeed. - mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -12/+23"Too bad our current administration doesn't understand conventional warfare cannot defeat terrorism."
Bush was quoted as saying, "We can never win the war on terrorism," and he agreed with you. Unfortunately it seems he's never going to win the war on the iraqi insurgency either. - anthrt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10As if "FRAPS.COM" and "Digital Media Converter Trial Version - Please Register" wasn't a dead giveaway
- Rounin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11To quote Soren Kierkegaard, "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use."
- ParallaxSky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10The great thing about Battlefield 2 is that you can check out all sorts of stats from how many bullets you fired from a certain weapon to how much time you have used a certain type of vehicle. Jihad is a common name constructor in BF2 and is usually reserved for people who enjoy playing the Special Forces class (shown extensively in the video). The interesting thing is that this player doesn't do the things the video shows (IED type ambushes) very often. More often he is an Anti-Tank player (also shown).
He does like playing MEC (Middle East Coalition) which would be the analogue for Iraq/Iran. This takes some effort since you usually automatically switch sides every other battle. There are all sorts of reasons people choose one side to play but most often it is because they like the vehicles/weapons of that side. USMC is considered to be overpowered in a lot of areas because its vehicles/weapons are superior. But since he plays MEC the most, it is not unusual for him to show MEC in his video. Not only are videos easy to make, it is supported in the game from the get go (called Battlerecorder). He did edit it together with some freeware tools.
~16K people are playing Battlefield 2 right now compared to ~4K playing the governments America's Army. I enjoyed watching the video and learned some tactics (for taking down helos). But propoganda... no. - demonicume, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13sat photo tracking, unwarranted phone tapping, internet tagging, financial transaction records handed over without a warrant... what ever would i do if not for big brother making sure i dont buy a shotgun from kmart and do something awful? thanks Big Brother, you saved lives today.
- mirzmaster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Yeah, the media should be more responsible, but what about the government? Is this another intelligence failure? I mean, assuming a fan-made flick is terrorist propaganda because the author's name is SonicJihad doesn't really constitute intelligent thinking in my books.
It's so great the American government has such an awesome handle on understanding their enemy. They apparently cannot tell fiction from actual terrorist propaganda. - zblackeagle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Murdoch scratches the administration's back, and the administration gets the FCC to relax media ownership rules. Thankfully congress would have none of that
- xLiKx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7wow, the press was all over this story over the past weekend. and i thought the terroists were actually involved in this mod.
- Soldan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7the creation of a video is fricken free speech..regardless of what the government thinks.
Its ok for folks to support the wars.. but open some history books and get a real perspective on the areas before making judgment...besides why isn't Israel taking care of our light work?
I have heard that alot of Iraqis want us there....that is a crock of crap. If I had a gun I could make anyone say ***** like that and smile for pictures. having 50 or more people die in you country daily for pretty much no real reason would make one think that folks would just like their country to go back to normal what ever that is. its is not our job to tell them how to run the country..
besides...how do you enforce U.N. resolutions by Invading against the wishes of the U.N.? makes no sense to me..
as far as bush supporters.. how has the prez made life better... safety? heh... I recall folks rushing to buy duct tape and gas mask...fear is a powerful tool to control people...
The tax cuts are not a sound choice...since we have a gigantic deficit. paying that off should have precluded tax relief for wealthy.
as for smaller government...the president created the homeland security dept. that all the related agencies answer too.. how does making a new tent make it any less of a circus?
I don't think the democrat are that great these day either...
anyhow its too early...rant off. - Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Can we get a torrent of that file going?
Digg effect is so much more fun when it's for torrents. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+21That's strange. I googled for that your Bush quote, and turned up 0 results. Even supposing he did say that, what does it mean? That our president thinks we can never win? Where does that leave us when Bush is doing everything he can to isloate America from the rest of the world? By the way, didn't the veep say the insurgency was in it's 'last throes'?
I hear there is talk about constructing brick walls along our borders. I seem to recall the Soviet Union having used the same idea. It didn't work out too well. - stylesP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6http://static.thepiratebay.org/hashtorrent/3481318.torrent/SonicJihad_BF2_Movie.3481318.TPB.torrent
hope this works :) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12U.S. Officials can suck my balls... Yes, I am American and living in the United States, but I just don't care about the U.S. "Officials".
- ratbear, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6hahahahahahahaha I saw this story on msnbc on Saturday. I ***** knew it was too good to be true. I even thought to myself while I was reading the article that the MEC army looks like "terrorists" by default, no modding required. The media is a ***** joke at this point.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I think maybe they need GTA: Washington D.C., where you can beat the ***** out of hoes and US officials. I declare fatwah!! fatwah dammit.
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3if you buy that cd what is the probability that the nsa will immediately tag you as a terrorist?
- abstraxion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm no Bush fan, but if you think he has anything to do with this, you're an idiot.
- meltingrobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3For the record, Snake River Conspiracy also has an album titled Sonic Jihad. Just saying, maybe the guy was a fan of them instead of Paris.

The quote isn't perfect, however in a August interview (which year I didn't look up) he did say "I don't think you can win" in the context of the war on terrorism. http://www.tnr.com/doc.mhtml?i=20041025&s=ackerman102504 - BasouKazuma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Really now, i was thinking the same exact thing. 'Digital Media Converter Trial Version - Please Register' was right smack in the middle of the screen in big letters.

His preference for MEC is not a coincidence. Most players spend most of their time in the USMC. (that's because every map is USMC vs. someone else. In theory, every player spends half of their time in USMC)
I cannot see why anyone should like MEC. Their AA tank is a real pain in the a** (i'm constantly driving it against walls, because you can't see anything with the radar dome in front of you), the M1 is superior to the T90. Only the airborne vehicles are better (except for the transport choppers).
Maybe that's why he likes Karkand so much... But his preference for AT explains his low K/D ratio ;-)
And no, i don't think he's a terrorist (or a sympathizer)... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yet again the government makes me cover my ears in disbeliefe while running arround in circles going 'NANANANANANANANANA'
How in the HELL could they be so freakin stupid!?!?!?
Hey bush cronies.... check out www.redvsblue.com im sure you could twist that one too.... - astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I could see it happeing... After all the 911 terrorists used Microsoft Flight Sim to train on... thats why Microsoft decided to rull out goverment landmarks, ect in the later versions.
I think the Media blew this one out of the water again as they do with everything. Then they end up with egg on their face and state someone else told them the story. It must be that time of the month again for the Media to get their ratings up...
'Hello I'm Halrodoa Reivera-tuskadera.... we have found that a bag of rice as fallen over on a war video game in the unearthed vault of Al Capone.... maybe this might signafy something, stay tuned for the next three hours as
we look into this..." - Stockwell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've seen better terrorist training videos hehe. True ones that is.
Funny how this gets to be news and get media coverage..
A digg for the fun and the laugh.
And honestly, the video itself is not that well made and is not really worth the 10min. watching. Shorter would've been better. But how they could've mistaken that for a terrorist training video??? There is something wrong about the war on terrorism. - bashar129, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The most powerfull military in the world mistook a battlefield2 movie for terrorist propoganda...WOW!
- setec, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I only could get through the first 1/4 of the movie. Anything glorifying (even if it was a joke) our troops is sickening. I know people that fought over there including my brother. I support the War and the Iraqis ought to be grateful they aren't under a dictator like Saddam anymore. But, I guess we could pull out and leave them to kill each other. No loss there. Yeah, thats right, I said that. Its a free country and its free because of our fighting men and women.
- muyuu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"This CRUSADE is gonna take a while"
What a stupid comment that was for a POTUS to spout. - Dalhectar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is this by chance the same story in TWiT 53 that talks about terrorists using Battlefield 2 to train people?

It's 113MB in size and in a better quality then the you-tube clip. - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks for the link! Archive.org's isn't responding.
- crapman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2>>"There is something wrong about the war on terrorism."
You just realize that? - YellowBook, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Let's just say that the US military 'intelligence' has a vivid imagination - remember all of the stock-piled chemical and biological weapons that were the justification for war in the first-place?
Who needs a UN when we have the US world police? < / sarcasm> - abstraxion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*****. The "Fairness Doctrine" forces media outlets to take a "neutral position" on issues, and if you've ever studied history, you'll know that there's no such thing as a truly neutral position. The Fairness Doctrine infringed on the first amendment by TELLING THE PRESS WHAT TO SAY. That's not a good thing.
I know it sucks to have to use your brain and get information from different sources when you make a decision, but to me, it sure beats the government holding my hand. - montiff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2video link is dead (prolly too much traffic)
any alternate links ?- - UberNick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol all i have is audio but this is a spoof of 'team america' right?
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Couldnt have said it better myself. The government makes me sad T_T
- taotehue, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Bush did say something like that, but his actions do anything but say that. If he truly believed that traditional war would not solve the problem he wouldn't send us to Iraq! Unfortunately, he either: A.) doesn't actually think that way, B.) doesn't actually care as long as he get his family some war profits, C.) is too stupid to actually grasp a true solution, or D.) All of the Above. I am going with D. myself. How about you folks.
the spooks have long been spooked by stupid stuff. In the sixties they said Allen Ginsberg was one of the ten most dangerous people in the states. How is that for Central Retard Agency for you! Ultimately they do not grasp the concept of anything not in there cookie cutter paradigm. This probably really knocked them out of their rockers! - psbp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hahaha. I'm listening to twit and they just mentioned it thinking it was a true training game. haha
- randf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@leTus
"the same time the only one and I repeat THE ONLY ONE who used atomic bombs on people, and not some millitary bases or economical targets but 2 regular cities."
hmmm...economical targets...don't know, is that like Walmart low priced targets or something?
dropping a nuclear weapon dead center on a miltary base? don't think the people just outside the base perimeter are really going to notice the difference. (BTW see wikipedia entries regarding military significance of Hiroshima and Nagasaki)
you're a student and you have this to say regarding WW2 tactics? crack open a history book to see what ground and air power was like 60 years ago. all players carpet bombed, b/c aerial bombing accuracy didn't exist as it does today. many civilians were killed and maimed on all sides of military targets doesn't make it right, it's just a fact.
read and understand things in context, don't just parrot what your "fair and balanced" professor says about recent world history. wikipedia article previously mentioned is a good start. - dignon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its a follow-up to earlier articles. A simple Google search would have given you the quotes your looking for.
