- Kisama, on 04/11/2008, -0/+48War. War never changes.
- estvir, on 04/11/2008, -1/+46I'm so sick of downloadable content being touted as some big positive for a game. Instead of designing a game and purposefully "That's a cool idea, let's.. wait, wait.. we'll make them pay more for it 2 months after release!" just have it in the game and than when it's out and hopefully doing well, release something.
- Varz, on 04/11/2008, -1/+30Oblivion is fantasy rpg it would be stupid for you to come across ruins, runes, cities etc. every 5 seconds, it was supposed to be an expansive game with a thriving natural environment. Fallout 3 is set in a post apocalyptic world and looks to have a lot more cities to explore which are generally a lot more complex than open environment. They're different themes.
- Koush, on 04/11/2008, -1/+30"Fallout 3's entire area is smaller than Oblivion, but Hines says it's denser, with more to do and less traveling."
Oh thank goodness.........*huge sigh of relief*. - petebot, on 04/11/2008, -1/+25This is higher on my anticipation list than GTA IV.
- joebrender, on 04/11/2008, -0/+20Fallout 2 entertained me for hundreds of hours. I 'm really looking forward to this sequel.
- Varz, on 04/11/2008, -0/+19I don't mind expansions which adds a significant amount of content, new quests and areas etc, like the Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion. But crap like horse armor is just stupid.
- coyo7e, on 04/11/2008, -10/+28God, I wish they'd stop going off about the number of possible ending combinations, it's going to give them some serious "Peter Molyneux" style backlash before long.
- aladrin, on 04/11/2008, -0/+17No, coyo7e is right. It's not 'possible endings', it's possible combinations of endings. Hyping something that doesn't exist as stated is -exactly- what Molyneux does.
I've learned to let hype make me think the game will suck, instead of the other way around now. So when I actually play, I'll be happy how little it sucks instead of disappointed how little it's like it was hyped. - Nitescape, on 04/11/2008, -0/+13Doing tasks in games............ hmmm now that is something new!
- candafilm, on 04/11/2008, -0/+12If you are pessimistic you are never disappointed.
- kylere, on 04/11/2008, -1/+13I bet none of the endings have you exit the Fallout shelter and end up with Alicia Silverstone for a girlfriend and Christopher Walken for your dad, now that would be a cool game :-)
But seriously, this game looks decent, I played the original Fallout WAAYYYY to much - ablacksunrise, on 04/11/2008, -0/+11My heart sank when I heard Fallout 3 was going to consoles as well... I really hope they don't cheapen the RPG experience just to sell a few more units...
- xtmno3, on 04/11/2008, -0/+10I wish they would stop with the screenshots and release a small video of how the game will play. Just something to inform people of whether it is a straight up FPS, or something like Oblivion where you can go 3rd person or what.
- dudefather, on 04/11/2008, -0/+10I saw some Radscorpions the other day...
- petebot, on 04/11/2008, -0/+9Are you touting your staunch hatred of those words?
- DanMiller, on 04/11/2008, -0/+9Go play the first two, then you can play Fallout 3.
- sodade, on 04/11/2008, -0/+9I should add that I am a huge fan of the Fallout series and will be really pissed if they ***** this up.
- lamiaconfitor, on 04/11/2008, -0/+9You should play 1 and 2! Avoid tactics, though; "It's a good idea, But it doesn't work."
- sodade, on 04/11/2008, -4/+12If your avatar moves as lame in 3rd person as Oblivion, I am out.
- staxofmax, on 04/11/2008, -0/+8Father Lasher: How dare you enter my sanctuary with a weapon in your hand! Oaf! Get out!
Vault Dweller: You don't like drawn weapons? You're gonna hate what I do with it next! - waldyprzy, on 04/11/2008, -4/+12if you liked the original fallout and fallout2, and are expecting something of similar quality... you will not like this game. it's an action rpg / shooter with rpg elements. Bethesda have completely changed the most important mechanics in this series that made it the unforgettable and incredible games that they are.
but hey, it'll appeal to the console crowd. - cerberus9090, on 04/11/2008, -0/+7I am sort of in this camp as well. I played the originals many many times, and when it comes to a sequel (not a spin-off), but a sequel, I think that they need to stick to the main mechanics that made the originals so amazing. I am not saying they should not progress, but keep the same stuff. What would Civ fans say if the newest Civ game was beautiful, but was an RTS. Same idea.
- napalmx, on 04/11/2008, -0/+6STALKER had a chance at being a very cool game. Unfortunately, they failed with the immersion factor by giving it a cheap interface and shipping the game with a bunch of broken side quests.
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 04/11/2008, -0/+6I preferred the tactics of turn based combat in FO1/2. Making it RTS or a FPS will be terrible for the true fans of fallout.
- rragle, on 04/11/2008, -0/+6I hope it doesn't cost more than 60 caps - maybe I could trade some cats paw magazines for a copy - I have hundreds I never did anything with
- petebot, on 04/11/2008, -1/+6Dude, it's five months from release.
- bagboyrebel, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5wow, you'll be in college, I'll still be in college, we have so much in common.
- candafilm, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5It's all how you look at it, I consider myself pessimistically optimistic.
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5And the worst part is horse armour was in pre-release screenshots, but it was taken out to be sold as DLC
- SpectralSounds, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Every dark cloud has a silver lining, but lightning kills hundreds of people each year who are trying to find it
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5Not the same leap from overhead realtime to 3rd person realtime as it is from turn based RPG with hexagon movement to FPS.
- mwalker05, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4you think its fun to walk around a bunch? when you go to the grocery store do you park in the very back of the lot so you can walk all the way, or do you park near the front?
- ixid, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4The more I hear the more I worry that this will not be good, Bethesda have had a habit in the past of mistaking quantity for quality. Abandoning the gameplay is a mistake, games are as much about the gameplay as the setting. The original gameplay and style should be developed, updated and deepened, not thrown aside for a generic first-person game set in a world we know. This is the problem with companies buying games like this, they don't have the people who GET it, so it's not the game people hope for but a pale pastiche.
- ilves7, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4I'm liking the 50+ voice actors. One of Oblivions downfalls was the annoying and crappy repetitive voices. I'm hoping even if the area isn't as wide it might be deeper with underground areas
- solidcube, on 04/11/2008, -1/+4Yes, no kidding. Oblivion, out-of-box, was TEH SUCK. It sucked more than any other game in the genre that I've seen for 20 years, and the reason was that horrendously asinine leveling system. If I go into a castle with bloody great skulls on it, with horns on it, with crowns on the horns and more skulls on the crowns, I don't expect to fight mudcrabs. The leveling was a blatant attempt to dumb down the game to some console demographic. Oblivion was quite good with 3rd-party addons, but for them to require you to add in aftermarket mods to compensate for committee-designed brokenness was pathetique.
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Console mentality killed it.
I quite playing RTS while playing Age of Empires II. When the computer gets to give orders to each individual unit in a split second, and I can't do the same, or I'm not allowed to at least pause and give orders, then I give up. - Tyrghast, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3the only people who think it's too big are the ones who didn't bother to take a look at all the sheer content put into the country side, all the caves and dungeons and side quests. Oblivion was a good 6 months of entertainment.
- ArcaneDevice, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3If they get this right you would be driving around the world in a wrecked Chrysalid Highwayman with a radio that plays 1950's infomercials and having random encounters with UFOs and lost game developers.
Then traveling would be fun. - inactive, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Bethsoft, for the love of god...PLEASE don't make me travel even half as much as I had to in Oblivion.
- Wartz, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Most games look better 5 months from release than the actual game.
- omnithought, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Please, for the love of all that does not suck, use different voice actors than Oblivion.
- ghostfaceDX, on 04/11/2008, -1/+4Looks like somebody didn't go to college.
- bagboyrebel, on 04/11/2008, -1/+4Morrowind kicked oblivions ass.
- stretch611, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Its called "fleecing your customers." Do it often enough and you will not have customers.
- Pigeon, on 04/11/2008, -1/+4It isn't a crappy texture, its motion blur or some type of shader running which probably looks _much_ nicer in motion.
- petebot, on 04/11/2008, -1/+4You obviously never played morrowind.
- Hortnon, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Oh, also Knights of the Old Republic. They add filler to make the turn-based combat look real-time, that I don't mind.
- Hortnon, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3I like the Total War series. It's got a good blend of turn based and real time. Otherwise, turn-based just bores me...it doesn't move fast enough.
