- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19I somewhat agree.
But think...how much money would you have to spend on a PC to be able to get it to render Oblivion as well as the 360 does? Hell, you'd have to spend $400 on the video card alone.
That's part of the beauty of consoles like the 360. - sonicdevo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Creepy doesn't being to describe this game. Its really immersive and well made.
- vanlandw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8i figured this was going to happen...hopefully the x-box version will have some added levels...options rather then just a blind port
- theblackgecko, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Do you mind explaining how the experience will be 'gay' on the xbox 360? Will there be men in Speedos? Will the Village People remix the soundtrack? Will the opening screen have a rainbow?
Nothing pisses me off more than people who use the term gay in a pejorative manner. - bigred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I played it but it didn't run too well on my system and it seemed very predictable and repetitive. It was a better than average FPS with a lot of eye candy, but if you don't have the system to handle it, then it's just a better than average FPS. Hopefully the 360 version will look good and run good.
Compared to CS:Source for replayability, CS:S will last much longer due to the fact that its got good multiplayer. - muleking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4$400 for the performance you get is certainly the big deal about the xbox, I won't aurgue that for a second.
- Jyuu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well there's Condemned for the 360 that already uses the F.E.A.R. engine. Of course the 360 can run F.E.A.R.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Coming out of the gate swearing never endears you to the Diggers. That's probably the first reason your comment got modded down. Then there's the "why is this on the front page when my article isn't" whinge. Also an unpopular move.
The "story" that you submitted is a link to your blog, about some hippie paperweight. You don't really think anyone's going to digg that, do you?
And ending everything you write with "worldpeace?" Did you just buy a book about the Dalai Lama at your local holistic crystal healing store or something? Seriously, white guys with little beards that take themselves all seriously, writing about mystical eastern new age poo are insufferable.
I looked at your blog - why is my Star of David inside a big Christian cross being eaten by a crescent? Rude, dude. Not rude like good but just rude like uncouth. Do you actually speak Chinese? What's going on with all the Chinese on your logo?
Oh, and by the way, it's spelled "Tao." - BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've already played this game on PC but I will play it again on 360 just to see what this game is like on a big HDTV with surround sound.
- stmico, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8FPS doesn't work with a console? I'm sure there are quite a bit of HALO fanboys who would say otherwise.
- stmico, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Definitley old news, this was stated along time ago, hell, they even said it on diggnation. As far as Replay value, it's decent but without a solid multiplayer it's not high up there. Multiplayer is really no different than most FPS shooters, with nothing original to hold your attention. The First player on the other hand is ridculously awesome. It's great to turn the corner and get in a gun battle, then not be able to see a damn thing that is going on from all the cement dust floating in the air knocked off the walls combined with little mists of blood thrown in. The AI is also pretty damn good, it'll give you a run for your money on the higher difficulty levels.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10No need for cursing. It's not like you've won the lottery or something.
- Jyuu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3People "give a *****" because it was always thought that F.E.A.R. would never be seen on a console.
- synchestric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is good. Maybe the 360 has enough computing power for this game.
- neocitron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4this is good BUT... where is the great 360 exclusive stuff? so far i only see some Table Tennis and Gears of War..... but FEAR has been already done on the PC...
i know games like Too Human and Mass Effect will be great...but some of these will also be on the PS3... and on top of that Sony has the Jap developers making FF13... MGS4... all those crazy japanese games...
Good news for 360 owners like myself but i'd like to see more original groundbreaking content on the 360... - fugazi, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11Not everyone thinks the same. I would much rather play it on my 360 since I love using a controller rather then a keyboard.
- muleking, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5360 is really hurting for original non-pc content, that is actually good.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@theblackgecko:
you rule.
I would love to see someone just go all out and make a game where you play the leather cop from The Village People, blasting up a KKK rally or something, all the while on roller skates. Maybe the bullets could be rainbow bullets. Heh. - grimeygutter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Agret
What rather average hardware you talking about that'll run Oblivion at HD resolutions. You obviously have never played oblivion on the 360. There's people with $500 graphics cards that get way lower fps at way lower resolution than what the 360 puts out. - ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So, when you said "console FPS games", you meant "I, with analog sticks,"
There are 6 billion people on this planet... I don't think the game developers' target audience is confined to you. If the Halo games tell us anything, its that a well-coded control engine can make analog sticks preferable to mouse and keyboard. - ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah this game is REALLY shader-hungry. Brings a few mint computers I know of crying to their knees, begging for mercy. From what I've heard though, the 360 eats shaders for breakfast. And when it's full, it just has its developers remove them :D
- Phyltre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Explain to us, then, what real gaming is all about.
If you're going to make a big statement, at least explain it. - tdiehm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2F.E.A.R. just never really grabbed my attention. I played the beta, bought the game, but never finished it. I like horror games and FPS, but I guess sometimes some games just don't 'click' with a person.
As for the news, it's good for 360 owners, but if Microsoft is serious about beating the PS3 they need a lot more than a bunch of ports and rehashes of the same games. - Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1F.E.A.R. was an awesome game, but I really could have used about -3 hours amongst the cubicles and +3 hours in the Vault.
- Jyuu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It's pretty weird at first, especially for me who has been a PC gamer (keyboard and mouse ftw baby) for more than 13 years but you quickly get used to using a controller. The 360 controller does a great job at that too.
- kohan69, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Condemned is out for PC, so its a fair trade
- TheGrizah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FPS game on consoles haven't been too fun to play since Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
FEAR is a great game and the sequels which have somewhat already been announced have been slated for console releases as well...lets just hope it doesn't turn them into DX: Invisible War...which was butchered because of the xbox version and the PC version being developed simultaneously.
Back to FEAR on the 360...hardly any top end systems could run the game with full settings and such without issues...but I blame that more on bad optimization and not on the systems themselves. So let's hope the people porting the game can find a happy medium to make sure the game runs smoothly.
I myself refuse to own a 360 until Too Human comes out. - kevinski, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm just curious as to how well it'll run on Xbox 360. The PC version brings most high-end computers to their knees.
- misfit410, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yay, another port of an old PC game.. guess original+fresh games are out of the question.
- cr4wley, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I still haven't played Fear, but from what I hear and read, it is pretty amazing.
In comparison to CS:Source, is the replay value greater or worse? - Hydroxyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is.
Sometimes predictable, but none-the-less a fun experince. - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -10/+10What makes you say that? I personally think that using dual analog controls gives a better sense of immersion than mouse + wasd. And that's what F.E.A.R is all about: Immersion.
- cr4wley, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3thanks!
- Abyss_908, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2FEAR is an amazing game however console FPS games suck. I can't aim with stupid analog sticks.
- blueblood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I loved the first DX, but them developing DX2 for both platforms ruined it for everyone, making it all around mediocre. i was so disapointed
- Phyltre, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So what do you say to those of us who format our PCs to play FPSs with Xbox 360 controllers?
The auto-aim somehow magically reappears, or what?
Mouse/key and controllers both have advantages, but neither one is inherently "better." A mouse is better for sniping, a controller is better for close-up. At least, that's my experience.
And by the way, I played FEAR with a keyboard and mouse and loved it. It'll be interesting to play it with a native-support controller and see if it controls differently. - drbroccoli, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3No, you're wrong. It will be gay. With the controller, the game will have sex with other games of its same gender. He wasn't joking.
- account, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No need for cursing, it's not like you're 13 years old.
- blueblood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0once the developers get the hang of the X360, the FPS wont be a problem
- blueblood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cs is better in terms of the mass audience with fear's steep req. CS is more realistic as well. however FEAR is the clear winner for eye candy and if u like single player it has a excellent story mode and good multiplayer
- gorilla, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Theres me thinking whether or not to get a 7900GTX, but seems like next-gen consoles are getting all the same titles as PC. Hello keyboard and mouse for PS3 :)
- blueblood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@stmico
on the other hand if some of those fanboys had a PC it might be a different story. im sure a % would prefure keyboard+mouse - blueblood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@grimeyqutter
In PC its not all about the vid, if u have a CPU that sux it will bottleneck the card. $500 and underpreforming? u must be talking about the $500 cards of 2 years ago wen they still used AGP. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0No offense Felchdonkey, but you're a moron.
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Ah, to be young and optimistic again..
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Well F.E.A.R. is a hell of a good game, compared to CS:Source which totally sucks and you can't stand to play it for more than 30 minutes before going back to 1.6 because of the crap netcode it easily beats the hell out of CS:Source.
F.E.A.R will last you a couple days on the singleplayer side and if you have friends you can talk to on TeamSpeak while your playing multiplayer so it's a blast.
F.E.A.R. will prob last you around a week or two, CS:Source will prob last you about 3 days.
Buy F.E.A.R. and not CS:S - TurmoilTech, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I think it's great. BUT, with all the framerate problems I'm hearing about on the 360 is this game gonna be worth buying?
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Actually Oblivion runs better than the XBOX360 on some rather average hardware. For the price of a 360 you can easily pickup a video card that will render it better.
- Randazzo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Bah. Fear is over-rated tripe for FPS dorks who don't know what real gaming is all about.
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Probably won't.
