- Detritus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I sincerely hope this gets localized and distributed globally. This looks like exactly the sort of game many Wii owners bought the console for. Madden's new moves make it a little bit more interesting, but in the end it is still the latest generation for the Deer Hunter of the console world.
- venir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I picked up Madden for the Wii. I am not the biggest fan of Football games but I can say that this one has really gotten me hooked. I really like playing with the Wii controls. I have found it to be pretty natural but it takes a bit of time to get used to all of the moves. It is by far the best football game I have played since Tecmo Super Bowl and with training/mini games its replay value is surprisingly high for what I was expecting.
- LSSoftware, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7cheezy review in my opinion, obviously not at all an american football fan or theyd realize how stupid their opinions are
the defensive line thing is cheezy. if you want to control the defensive line, then in superstar/career mode be an offensive/defensive lineman, its so stupid that theres a semi-minigame to do it. and also, the camera stays behind the user for a reason, so you can see where your going...
and i doubt madden wishes it had special moves, its a real football game. if i wanted cheezy special moves in football id play NFL Street. but with my madden ill stick with my fun pretouchdown taunts :P - DrMickhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There's honestly not much of a comparison to be made here--Madden tries hard to maintain itself as an NFL football simulation, and while Eyeshield looks like a fun and innovative game, it's totally cartoony. If EA put 'special moves' in Madden, fans wouldn't buy it, as it would detract from its authenticity.

Coral Cache - tayman26, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Eyeshield 21 for the DS was pretty bland. Play calling is similar to rock paper scissors: for example, choose to defend the right person and get a better chance to intercept a pass. During plays the game is essentially extremely repetetive mini-games: Tap this circle to run past a defender, rub the screen to set up sweep blocks, hit this circle to catch the ball. It was over simplified and thus very boring.
- fubuvsfitch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ladanian Tomlinson, anyone?
- sho222, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"In Eyeshield 21 the camera is placed on the sidelines facing both defensive lines."
retarded - itanshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes they can, because in eyeshield 21 they are demon hybrids or some such. QB has fangs.
- DickMcVengeance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's got these different features because of the anime. Have you ever bothered to watch it? It overstylizes football to fit in with the feel of a typical shonen anime, so naturally the game is going to mimic the series. It's just a different take on the football controls.
- xyqxyq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That one guy from the Zokugaku Chameleons has freakin' stretchy arms!
- beerunifies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So, the only difference being pressing 'B' for special moves and that defensive line crap?
The game looks fun and all, but why hate on Madden - there isn't even a huge difference in the control scheme, which is what the point of the article was supposed to show? - overbored454, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Eyeshield seems like a fun game to play, but comparing this game to Madden in terms of gameplay? They might as well have compared it to Cooking Mama.
- brwnx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2yeah...
He seems like the right guy to discuss football games... - namae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I too played this on the DS and I still find it really fun. It has a story mode which I wasn't able to get into since I can't read Japanese but the vs mode was tons of fun. I sold a friend on the DS when I showed him this specific game.
If I were to compare this to racing games, madden and the 2K series of games are more like Gran Turismo. Eyeshield 21 is more like auto modellista... ok terrible example. It's more like Initial D for the Arcade. Completely unrealistic but MAN IS IT FUN. I don't want to know how much money I spent a few years back on that thing every weekend.
I'd be excited to see this game come over here. I'd buy that no questions. - mageofdeath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've played the DS Version and I hope the wii version isn't anything like it, because the DS version of eyeshield 21 is more like an rpg than a football game...
- Gunsmith, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Japanese originality compared to EA...I was going to post some witty comparision but then just saying EA these days is enough really.
- BillGoans, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Madden has actually changed quite a bit from 2002. A lot of new features, including fantasy drafts, online game play not possible, juke moves and configurations, truck/hit sticks, mini games, dynasty modes, superstar modes, changing assignments while presnap (which I enjoyed on the non-360 versions).
Good stuff if you're into football.
Now, ask yourself. Could japanese players in the NFL even field a defense? - Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I know it feels great to be dugg up MacIsTehBest, but if you tried the link you would see that duggmirror failed on this one and now a horde of people will hunt you down for making them click a bad link =O
- attractivetb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I've also played the DS version...it's not a football game. It's an RPG with football-esque minigames. This is not a criticism of the game...it's weird/funny/fun and very Japanese. I'd imagine the Wii version will be the same - and don't hold your breath for an English version.
So I'd agree with the initial commenter...Madden and Eyeshield aren't likely to resemble eachother in any way. - qqstar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1your server is down on the website
- DarkStalker, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Considering it's the exact same game as on all the other platforms and that it's barely changed over the last 4 years, you probably haven't PLAYED a football game since Tecmo Super Bowl.
- pidge, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Nothing beats NFL2K series.
- itsadamlikewhoa, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I've played this japanese game for the DS. It's nothing like Madden; not even comparable.
- Paperthin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1for those intersted, you can download eyeshield at stopazmo.com or read in-browser at mangavolume.com
- wiihuck, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3eyeshield looks pretty lame.
