- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17This is EXACTLY how I pictured Madden to be played on the revolution. It'll be quite a work out though; 'passing' the ball, 'kicking' the ball, doing stiff arms, etc. The end of fat gamers is near!
- kkaabboomm, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7you mean the wii, right?
- plkrtn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5A brand new Madden for Nintendo's new console?
I'm so excited I could Wii! - jedi0utkast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Now you will actually work out when playing sport games...Interesting.. No more couch potatoes, at least not Vii Potatoes.
- supergwiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Madden is big and this is great for nintendo. The xbox 1 held its own in sales because of the inclusion of madden in the the library.
When the madden faithful see the unique gameplay of MadWii, this will make the platform choice a no-brainer.
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Every time I hear news about the Revolution, it just gets better and better. I never expected (hoped) that EA would go so far as to dedicate a development house to making Revolution-specific ports of their big franchises. This is amazing. Here's to continued support from the industry for the Revolution, and more importantly, consumers! Viva la Revolution!
- jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Microsoft is touting both Vista and the Xbox 360 as a the best gaming environments yet Nintendo is delivering... again and again... :-) I'm excited :-)
- micro506, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I think you mean Vive la Wii!
- durrty, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Does anyone here actually play Madden? Madden sucks. Sega's 2k series was far superior before EA bought exclusive rights to the NFL.
EA is the Microsoft of the gaming world, they will stir up a bunch of hype about potential features and end up delivering a sub-par product. Thier "next generation" Madden game on the 360 is without doubt the worst football game I've played on ANY system, EVER. I can't imagine some huge turnaround from a company who is only really interested in the bottom line
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19There's going to be an epidemic of Revmotes in TV screens.
- tacojohn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Don't you mean Wii-motes?
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Mark me down for Revolution, not neccesarily because of Madden though.
This will probably be the first time the Madden crew has written extensive new code to/for Madden in years and years seeing as how every "new" madden is basically just a roster update.- DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Yeah, I just had to laugh because if the Revolution is properly code-named, then it is because they've created a system that forced EA to redo Madden.
Plus it's being made by EA Canada who, IMO, make EA's best games. - distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you read the article, you'll find that Tiburon (a.k.a. The Madden Crew) is not writing the code for the game.
- DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Yeah, I just had to laugh because if the Revolution is properly code-named, then it is because they've created a system that forced EA to redo Madden.
- JeffreyAtW, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14You mean, for the Wii! http://revolution.nintendo.com
- GernBlanston, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3http://digg.com/gaming/Introducing_Nintendo_Wii
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Yeah... not that Wii is a bad name or anything.... im still going ot call it the revolution...
- mattrmcg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10so do you throw the controller at the TV to simulate a pass?
- matariel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1haha you are the first person to genuinely make me laugh out loud at my computer while reading a digg comment =)
- jedi0utkast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes! that is why you only get a pass per game.
- MaXPL, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I cant wait til they start making exercise games.
All the moms will be playing Revolution...
heh, I guess they were right about it being a Revolution. I'm definitly getting one even though I'm Xbox all the way. - sinfony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Hopefully, making a throat-slitting gesture with the controller will cause Madden to stop talking, a feature I've long wanted from the series.
- Fenster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually, I think throat-slitting is a penalty now....for realisms sake, they would have to throw a flag for that.
- Bellyache5, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4"You've got to put more points on the board than the other team. That's how you win a game."
John Madden has got to be the most obnoxious sports commentator ever. I really hope you can mute him. - balzin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The sinfony's comment actually made me laugh out loud. Sir, I commend you.
In the end, does anyone give a ***** about madden? It has to be THE crappiest franchise to ever gain mass acceptance. The only positive point of madden coming to the Wii is that it shows 3rd party acceptance that games should not be exact ports because of the controller.
I might get this, but only if I have an excess of money on launch day and nothing better is available.
- Hollister, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4Stop calling it the revolution
- Clewley, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1Until the true name is given, the Revolution it is...
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Wii have the new name for it. Check the front page.
- tacom8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8its been the wii for what 12 and half minutes?
common no one would have a clue what they are talken about if they called it the wii or whatever... for the love of potatoes i hope they revert back to the revolution. How would that not have been the most marketable name ever? - DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"and is tentatively titled Madden Revolution."
And now titled Madden Wheeeeeeeee!!!!
Nah, I think I'm still going to call it Revolution. - ajwillys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"its been the wii for what 12 and half minutes?"
I remember 12 and a half minutes ago. *sigh* Those were the good old days. - aniseed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Remember 13 minutes ago, when it still had a cool name that a 5 year old couldn't twist into a dirty joke..? Those were the days.
- UndercoverCow, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1This is great if they manage not to ruin the classic madden feel of the game. I enjoyed the madden series and don't want it to loose its nfl feel.
- mrsark, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2no its just a bad name.
- swizzle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This sounds awesome. The only problems I see is that some people are probably going to hurt others while playing and somehow try to sue Nintendo or EA, and that I can see a lot of people accidentally throwing thier controller and breaking them. But overall it sounds like an great, innovative idea.
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You know, I hate football and haven't found any fun in most football games but I'm going to give this a go if it has an all-new, Wii-specific control scheme. So I guess their plan has worked on me. ;)
- uttles, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2hate football? did you get picked on a lot in high school or something?
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I am a PS fan, but the Rev is looking better and better. I really can't wait.
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I cannot wait for this. I still like XB360 and PS3 stuff, but this is more affordable (to our knowledge) and sounds like it will be good fun for parties.
- Razerious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I hope it's possible to fasten it to your hand somehow (with a wristband or whatever), otherwise I think we'll see fatal accidents happening in a lot of homes ;)
- igjoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, I agree with you. That was one of the two things I'm worried about. The other thing that I don't know about is if when you play a friend, will they be able to know if you are passing or running by looking at how you are using the controller before you execute the play. This could lead to many shut down plays for the offense, so I'm hoping that throwing and passing will have similar positions before and while the play is running. Despite this I am very excited to get a Wii for myself and try out Madden.
- Tommstein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was thinking that it would be ingenious if passing and running are executed differently. Why? Think play-action. You can be involved in having the defense think you're running, and then going into your passing stance. The better you fake it, the better you fool people.
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Oh dear, just the thing the world needs. ANOTHER Madden game.
- Tsuroerusu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Read the interview, the EA guy describes this a something truly unique.
- flizzoyd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is suprising. I went to a talk by one of the Madden programmers two weeks ago and he indicated that they would be doing little to innovate on the Revolution.
- mattyice11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would have loved this 10 years ago, but it's a bit much for me now.
Great tech though, and good for Nintendo for innovating...even if it's a little beyond my light gaming skills these days. - tsar04, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3im sure its going to be a great game, but i really don't want to play it on a console called the wii
- electroktan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Madden Goes Wii!
- bmobile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3so the system will come with Wii-Fi?
- aniseed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No, but all the sounds will be Peeps
- MrSpontaneous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Imagine combining the Wii control system with a peripheral like the Sony eye toy. You could track eye/head movement to move the cone, and pass using the controller. I found the cone in 06 to be fairly slow moving when scanning downfield. If it moved with the eye, it would seem more natural.
I wonder, for a coach's challenge would you have to make a throwing gesture while at the play selection screen? Or perhaps flinging your arms up in protest.
Either way, the Wii/Revo is looking pretty awesome right now. I can only imagine what amazing things other devs are doing.
(go stillers) - dhoefler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is really cool, but one thing concerns me. After reading the article it seems a lot of user motion is going to be required to play the game. Being a poor college student I don't have a huge room to play games in. My apartment is rather tiny. When a bunch of us guys are playing Madden as it is right now it gets cramped between the TV, food, furniture, and beer. Playing madden on the Rev is going to make for an interesting and violent time. :-)~
- jedi0utkast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Get ready for Vii related injuries..
- dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This should be a killer title for the Revolution, given that Madden is already the best selling game year-after-year. The first itteration of the "next-gen" Madden, for the 360, was junk. If EA delivers on a unique and captivating game play, they'll probably sell more Revolution consoles than Nintendo can make.
I just wonder how long until that remote has a glove attachment, to keep it from flying out of your hand making your throwing motion. That, and I wonder how many people will have to start working out regularly to keep their arms and shoulders in shape for using it... - BigDPez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is great!!! A definite good sign that third-party support for the Revolutoin/Wii is going to be there.
- girth_brooks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm really excited about this, but I do have concerns. Mainly the reckless flailing of limbs involved here. I know that the controller is quite sensitive to movement and whatnot, but as a diehard madden fan, those games get pretty intense. Either way, I can't wait.
- fantasticFlan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have never liked any sports games, but damn that sounds fun.
- positron, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Marked as inaccurate. It's no longer the Revolution. And besides... who in their right mind would want Madden to spin on their Wii?
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You guys do realize that it's EA that's developing this. Get ready for another mediocre game.
It SOUNDS good but it won't end up that way.
Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii - TheAttacks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You mean Nintendo Wii?
- Axim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3hahah that is so funny oh wait you're the 50th person to make that joke in the last minute. DURRR
- aniseed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Wee-Wii-jokes will be repeated until everybody dies. Remember the "Xbox is really big"-jokes? They were wee tiny compared to this.
- Axim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wee-wii is fine its the "hey you check out the revolution controller guys?" "MORE LIKE WII AMIRITE LOL" comments that are super gay
- 3dfxgamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am really excited about the potential for baseball and golf games on the Wii. This new Madden sounds great too.
- edrift101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Horrible name change, but I'm still going to buy one. This will be the only true next-gen console released. The 360 and PS3 have more graphically power, but really aren't changing the way we will be playing video games - which is exactly what Nintendo is going to do.
- Cryptopsy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Im starting to think that the Wii Remote will need some sort of wrist strap. Mainly because there will be games coming out where players will be making wild gestures while holding the remote. Its only a matter of time before somebody slips and lets go of the remote, throwing it at tremendous speeds into their new 42" plasma TV.
- bs175, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You mean wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. I encourage everyone to email nintendo and let them know what you think of their name. Ugggggg, it makes me think of a little girl :(
