- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+64That pretty much seals the deal as not being a hoax. All those people who screamed fake dont really have much to say now.
- G5Unit91, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27You nailed it, I'm a little angry since I have an Xbox 360 without HDMI, but I'm gald to see Microsoft keeping up to date with providing their customers with the best possible games, movie, and music expierience.
And I for one welcome out new HDMI bearing Xbox 360's. - addisonj, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7hmm... Empires comment made me think of an interesting point, with MS being so kind lately as to extend warranties to a year and refunding the rest, it makes me wonder how they will respond to the backlash of this, maybe possible some sort of "upgrade" price through MS? certainly there will be a community firestorm once it is made public by MS, i doubt they want that sort of attention
- vbr2, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5i need a new tv... ;D
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Brokenempires.. that's great but it's only for Dell "and possibly Samsung". I don't use either of those brands.. so I'm still ***** using the VGA and I do get some washout. That's the main reason I'm a bit pissed that these new xboxes are getting a digital output.. when I bought the console I was under the assumption that MS would release a dvi/hdmi adapter for the current model.. so I'm stuck with the analog VGA connection, which looks fantastic -- but the contrast isn't too great.
- sakuraz, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2But WTF?
Why does the HANA pic look so friggin photoshopped....
I need to take some more tutorials...:S - kauko, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7"Now if there is a stark difference in say performance, noise levels etc....."
I highly doubt there will be any difference in the performance. The new CPU (...if there is going to be a new CPU) will be clocked exactly the same and each instruction will take exactly the same number of clock cycles to execute and so on. The same goes for the GPU, buses, amount of memory, memory access performance and so on. The main benefit of consoles for developers and consumers is the fact that their performance stays the same from the beginning of their lifecycle to the very end. Microsoft would gain absolutely nothing by releasing a version with a higher CPU clock speed, for example.
If the rumours about the 120 GB hard drive are true, I'm sure Microsoft will sell it as an accessory, just like they are selling the 20 GB one now as well. Hopefully the price stays the same, or better yet, is lowered. When it comes noise levels and HMDI, well I guess users of older 360s are just out of luck. I bet lots of DS owners felt disappointed too when Nintendo released DS Lite with much nicer form factor, better screen and vastly improved battery life. But that's the way it goes. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The latest word was the 65nm chip was delayed to mid-2007. So this wouldn't have it if it is to come out soon.
As to the "IPTV VOD DVR" thing, the article never said it was a DVR. What good is a DVR with a 2.5" HDD? If you spend a truckload of cash ($150 or so), you can get a 160GB or 200GB 2.5" HDD. On the other hand, 300GB 3.5" HDDs can be had for peanuts, and they're higher performance to boot (which is important for simultaneous recording and playback, as a DVR does). Additionally, you leave your set top box on all the time, and 360 is much too loud to be on all the time, even with the DVD drive spun down.
This IPTV rumor isn't making a lot of sense to me right now. Perhaps if MS officially announces it, they'll also explain how it can be made to make any sense. - cheeze69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Re: backlash
I just bought a 360 about 2 weeks ago. So far, I'm happy and I don't care about the HDMI upgrade. A noise and heat reduction would be nice, but not entirely required. However, the one thing I would 'backlash' about is the 120GB drive. I already paid $400 for this "deluxe" 360 with the 20GB drive and I'll be highly resistant to spending another $100 (using the price of the current standalone drive upgrade) for a 120GB drive.
Now, I would *like* the 120GB and if I had it, I *might* be inclined to try a movie or two here and there, which I'm not really excited about with my current 12GB (usable) setup, however, I won't be paying another $100 so I can basically watch pay-per-rent movies. MS would need to (and should) offer owners who have bought within the past 6 months (or something similar) a severe discount on upgrading to the new HD -- something in the range of not more than $50. It would be in their best interest to do this because without it, people like me just won't be spending the points on movies. - mrdoolittle119, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nice mix

- k3n85, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I can't believe how much people swore that it was fake .... some guy claiming his left nut that it was fake. Is it a bad thing that things change? PS2, iPods all change. People buy electronics knowing they'll soon be not the newest, it happens.
Anyways, glad to see that this evidence has come out and hopefully will make it to the market within the next quarter or two- azurepalm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10I guess one reason is that consoles are supposed to last for about 5 years (without any major changes). Many people consider the addition of HDMI as significant/major.
- Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2One thing I would have liked to have seen was them to make the console itself smaller, the 360 is gigantic.
- GarethSaxby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2My 360 is sat next to my original PS2; excluding the fact that the PSU is external in the 360, it's not that much bigger in height or width, whilst it is a fair bit deeper. It's hardly huge at that kind of size; there's more technology bunged into that box that my current computer, even if the actual capabilities are debatable and rather different between the two. The PS3 is bigger, and whilst it is on the large side, like the 360, it's still not huge. I'd go ahead and say that the Wii is dimunitive, whilst the PS3 and 360 are a little bit above average.
- richard5mith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@Lososaurus: Have you seen the PS3? That thing is proper huge.
- azurepalm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7What people need to remember is that their game still works exactly the same either in the 1st gen Xbox 360 or 2nd gen Xbox 360. That's the important thing! ;)
My few years old TV has 1080p component, not 1080p HDMI. So, this won't affect me much, but it's definetly nice to have the options. So next time I got a new TV (probably Xbox 3 will be out by then), I have less cable to mess with. I hope Microsoft still add support for component in addition to HDMI on their next Xbox.- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think we all realize that.. but those with us with LCD monitors (especially cheap ones) would still greatly benefit from a digital connection. My monitor doesn't handle the conversion especially well.
- PSPon, on 10/12/2007, -9/+9now we just need the one with the built in HD-DVD drive =)
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -13/+9Why?
- SharkyTech, on 10/12/2007, -12/+4Why would you want to pay extra to get a disk drive for a format that is not only very limited in current content, but has a good chance of becoming the next Betamax? Those who want it can pay for the add on, and thats the way it should be, otherwise you end up with the kind of production and price problems the PS3 has.
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6Blu-ray, if anything, is the next beta-max.
However, it's a non-issue because most players will be hybrid in that they'll play both HD-DVD and BluRay. So really, it's whatever is ultimately cheaper. If BluRay discs are on average more expensive than HD-DVD, then the latter will "win". - gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I do not understand why people think that's important. Why would Microsoft increase the cost of their system by adding an expensive unnecessary drive.
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So Zephyr will have HDMI, 65nm, and 120GB hard drive (or is that still just a rumour?)
Anything else?- TonyCubed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes and Yes for the those two. The new Hard drive will be external like it's current little brother. So anyone with an Xbox360 can buy one! :)
- yyy11, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6I personally would rather have built in Wi-Fi. Seriously how much can that cost in this day in age when everything has it. Oh yeah and one more thing this would set the precedence for them to release other new ones . So in a year they can release another one with in the box HD DVD and people wouldn't be surprised.
- bandhftw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Haven't sony all ready started this trend with there new "media focused" ps3
- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The "memory cards" for the Wii, which are just SD cards, are also overpriced. They get away with it because many people don't know the difference.
- PSPon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Ohh what was that rap song playing in the background called?

I generally like Rock music more than Rap and hip-hop but I just love his newest album. It has like almost 20 songs sampled on every track.
As for the Xbox 360, I just might pick one up. I'm getting the Wii first but this might make me consider the Xbox too.
- neiltc13, on 10/12/2007, -9/+24Sum1 - The Worst Song In The World Ever
- xboxfiend, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2This is great. I can't wait to show this video to my friend at m$ who doubted it's existence yesterday. I'm glad to see Microsoft step up.
- neiltc13, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Any sensible person would put an HDMI -> DVI adapter at the OTHER end so that the console doesn't have a huge part sticking out the back.
The creator of this video could at least have made an effort and connected it to an HDMI display - this video doesn't prove the console is ready for production because he eliminated sound when he plugged in the DVI cable.- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually it would have made more sense to just buy an HDMI cable that has DVI on the other end.
- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@tastypastry
Buying a new cable is much more expensive than just buying an adapter.
- SpoBo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Rofl the guy in the video is from somewhere around or in Belgium :) He has wristbands that you get at famous festivals over here. Neway, I wonder .. does the thing make less noise ?
- c0dy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2I really hope the new HDD is 120GB as Engadget says. The video didn't prove that.
Also, shame about the power brick - it's still there...- jull1234, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Always bashing the brick... If it's bothering you, you haven't placed it in an appropriate location (where you can't see it).
- gamabunta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I'm willing to bet when this thing ships, a lot of extended warranties will be redeemed.
- vagarach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When it ships and when old stock is depleted, you mean. If they have the exact same SKU then maybe, but you will need to wait for stock to filter out of the chain.
- Snowspot, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1i bet...
+hd-dvd drive
+wifi- beaumont911, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Better not me, because then I will be seriously pissed. If it does have wifi, make it free for old consoles.
I want the 120gb hard-drive, but the problem is transferring your old data to the new one, if it does come. - Ricapar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why?
Why can't some people understand the fact that technology is constantly improving? You brought an XBox 360 knowing exactly what it had. If MS updates the system, they don't have to, and almost certainly won't, give you the updated system.
I brought my MacBook over the summer, and Apple just released one with the Core 2 Duo and some more RAM. Should I get the updates for free? No.
- beaumont911, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Better not me, because then I will be seriously pissed. If it does have wifi, make it free for old consoles.
- DanielNielsen, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3This can still be a faked, im not thinking of this as confirmed until MS says so.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13The likelihood of this being fake is about 1 : 1000. It would be insanely difficult and nearly impossible to fake this much detail.
- Xanium4332, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I don't really care about not having a HDMI port, it's more the 120gb drive that I want. I hope you can buy the new 120gb HDD separately...
Oh, and if they *were* ever to put a HD-DVD drive in it, that would definitely make me _have_ to get a new one.- miketuck3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I can guarentee you will be able to buy it seperately, thats why they made the HDD detachable, i agree aswell i have no need for HDMI
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm in the opposite situation.. I don't need the larger HDD, but I'm desperate for the HDMI connection.
- gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I do not understand why people think that's important. Why would Microsoft increase the cost of their system by adding an expensive unnecessary drive?
The impact of HDMI on your viewing experience will not be that dramatic, so why all the angst.
At least Microsoft isn’t resting on their laurels, banking on Fan Boy loyalty. They will likely change any real or perceived shortcomings in their product until they overcome the silly childish prejudices people have towards anything stamped Microsoft. - evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Some TVs (like mine) only support 1080p over HDMI. As of now, my 1080p TV can only show 1080i or 720p over the 360's available connections. I'll be pissed if this isn't available as an output cable and they make me return my current 360 to buy a new one.
- Ironman11, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13This better have Wifi built in, because every other console does: Wii, PS3, DS, and PSP. Theres no excuse for not having it in the new 360
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5"Theres no excuse for not having it in the new 360"
To them, there is. They'd be out $100 for you not having to purchase the add-on.
This is microsoft we're talking about :) They'll milk you for everything they possibly can. - Spooky, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Quote: "This is microsoft we're talking about :) They'll milk you for everything they possibly can."
Yea, Microsoft is the only company that does this; its a business, the goal is to make money. I love it when people bash successful companies and attempts to make them out as villains. Give me a break.
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5"Theres no excuse for not having it in the new 360"
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Haha, people are funny.
So much talk about re-purchasing their 360.
Just get the cable when it comes out for the current model.
Also, if one were to purchase the new HD, how does that work with transferring games and all that from your old HD? I'm assuming we wouldn't have to re-purchase our XBLA games.. right?- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I'd also like to add - if you're currently running in 1080i, stick with that. 1080p is nice compared to say, 720p, but you'll be forcing yourself to find differences when you go from 1080i to 1080p. I mean, things will be different, but not like you're expecting.
Unless you have cash to burn, that is, and for some reason *have* to have that 1080p HDMI. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"Just get the cable when it comes out for the current model."
..Did you not read the post? The current ANA hardware scaler (apparently) only works with analog signals, so the current model will never get a digital connection.
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I'd also like to add - if you're currently running in 1080i, stick with that. 1080p is nice compared to say, 720p, but you'll be forcing yourself to find differences when you go from 1080i to 1080p. I mean, things will be different, but not like you're expecting.
- ditoa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It isn't really surprising that Microsoft are working on a new revision Xbox 360. Sony did it with the PS2 (and PS1). It makes sense for this type of product. While HDMI and a 120GB HDD is great the thing I most want is a quieter system, although HDMI, bigger HDD and WiFi would be nice as well ;)
- apoc06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1people are just upset due to the fact that the revision is coming out after the product has been on the market for only a year. most hardware revisions only come after the product has been on the market for several years [the DS lite being another exception]
personally, i just got mine this past december. so i feel like perhaps i should have waited even longer. its never good to have purchasers regret buying your product. - vagarach, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sony made both the psx and ps2 significantly smaller and cooler looking when they were revised. Here they are upgrading components, not reworking the whole system.

- ajmuir, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2This is great news. I think they need to release a black version though.
Any ideas what the mashup was playing in the background? - kenvsryu, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2time to play catch up.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I smell a price drop in the current 20GB premium
- chedabob, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4Still fake. If its a "dev kit", why isn't it black, and wheres the sidecar thats mounted where the HDD is? Also, opening a dev kit automatically terminates your contract, so I don't think anybody with a dev kit would be willing to void their warranty just to give some proof.
- SupaDawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Xbox Scene doesn't post fake news. They have an extremely solid reputation and don't need to risk it for page hits. If they're convinced this is authentic so am i.
- chedabob, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1HA!
Xbox-scene is a bunch of hypocrits.
- strotee, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2First off, I'm not an owner of any next-gen consoles, so I'm trying to be objective as possible (rare on Digg I know).
This is a brilliant move by MS, they know people will buy the latest & greatest just to keep up with the Jone's. They know there is a % of gamers that want the newest thing out there so they don't hear flak from friends at school, work, etc about how they have an outdated "clunker". After a mere 14 months, there is discussion and rumors about MS making a large revision to its existing line of consoles. I'm aware that existing consoles will still play games fine but if I was an owner I would feel like my console is outdated to a degree. Please don't give me the "but technology moves on" argument, these are consoles people, they are supposed to stay static for many years. If MS was to somehow upgrade existing owners for next to nothing then I would be impressed, but we all know that's very unlikely.
My biggest worry is that MS has started a new trend in consoles: Release a major revision every 18-24 months just to 1) stay ahead of the technology curve 2) to mimic your biggest competitor. If they do, they'll boast about sales of their system but will forget to mention what % of sales are repeat customers trying to keep up with what's being released. In the end, all these revisions will be more expensive than buying the more expensive (potentially static) competitor.
Simple math:
PS3 -- $600 (assuming it doesn't break for the next 5-6 years)
Xbox -- $400 (1st release) + $300 (2nd release, guessing at price) = $700 (again, assuming it doesn't break and need additional expenses to repair, etc) - Darksoul, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yeah they really need a way for us to transfer our other stuff from the 20 gig hard drive before we go out and buy the 120 gig, The thing that bugs me is I just bought my dam 360 and they go and do this I'm not going to worry about it though the only thing that new 65nm process is going to do is cut down on the heat and noise they haven't said anything about it giving the 360 more performance if they arnt going to make it so we cant change our date over they should let us buy the hard-drive threw them for money off wed just send in our hard-drive so they can move the data over I dunno anyway it will be interesting to find out how they are going to work this because I cant imagine they'd let the rest of us 360 owners not have a way to get this bigger hard drive which we all want.
- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They do. Its called a memory card.
- 574lk3r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2great, now all i have to get is a hdmi to vga adapter....
my hdtv doesent have hdmi only vga,
maybe ill just get a wii.- grexeo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3VGA is analog - the current XBOX 360 output 1080p VGA. You don't need a HDMI to VGA adapter.
- deepfresh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1whats the diff between HDMI and component? I am running component and running the res at 1080i on my LCD. Will there be much of a difference with HDMI?
- gamabunta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@ deepfresh
component < VGA < DVI < HDMI
Note HDMI is identical to DVI, except that HDMI carries both the video and audio signal as well as has newer copy protection methods. - Fearnight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Question - since DVI cannot carry the audio signal how do you get audio? Can you run a standard Xbox composite cable and just use the R/L audio?
- andreo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The only reason that someone would be concerned about having HDMI over component or VGA is if they are looking to output the audio through the HDMI cable. When I first saw this new model my thought was that there would be a dongle that connected to the A/V port that would allow you to connect a optical cable to the 360. Would be for people that wanted 5.1 sound going to a receiver (that didn't have HDMI on it) but still wanted video through the HDMI cable.
While that may be something that they have and it just wasn't shown in the video it is also possible that MS won't include such a dongle.
So in short the only way this would mean anything to you is if:
1) you have a TV that accepts HDMI
2) you have a receiver that accepts audio through HDMI and passes the video on to the TV
3) I see this as being mostly for HD-DVD movies since they need HDMI to pass along the newest sounds (True-HD and DD+)
If you are just using your 360 for games and you don't have the above mentioned needs then HDMI won't mean much to you. - gamabunta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Depends on the device. I'm thinking with the new 360 you will be able to choose between composite or optical audio.
- gamabunta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@ deepfresh
- beaumont911, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am running component cables on 1080i, if I use the HDMI port, will I be able to use the 1080p?
- solidefy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if your TV supports 1080p, yes. If not it will still be 1080i, just over HDMI.
- MaXPL, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1okay yes he's got it running thru an HDMI connection. however, it also seems highly unlikely MS would just allow him to reveal this new info. and tech. considering this guy receives theses dev. kits.
this could possibly just be a great mod he came up with. - MaXPL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1also, i just read a story on joystiq stating that MS has sold 10.4 Xbox 360 consoles thus far, and is expected to announce the release of an IPTV service to coincide with the announcement of this revised version of the console. meaning the upgraded HDD is all but something we'll use as a DVR, which i think is an excellent feature with Media Center/Vista if people upgrade to the new OS.
so what this all means that we have to wait until CES next week when Microsoft is expected to make the announcement. - aspangenberg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hopefully all of these changes occur before Halo 3 is released. That's when I am finally going to get the 360. Not that that is the only good game out there, but I can't just buy a new system when ever I want one. My XBMC is doing fine for now.
- evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How can you say it's the only good game out there when it isn't even out? Halo 3 could blow chunks for all you know. That, and Dead Rising, Gears of War, and Viva Pinata are all awesome games.
- aspangenberg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe I worded it wrong. I can't wait to play Gears of War, Topspin 2, and a bunch of other games. I was trying to say it wasn't the only game I'm looking forward to, just Halo 3 is when I will probably make my purchase.
- evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh right, my bad. You did word it funny, but I should have read more carefully :)
- testdrivemedia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, i'm gutted. I bought my bundle a week ago :( ... oh well.
- vagarach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Return it then! Most big retailers give 2+ weeks for no questions asked return. Unless it was ebgames. In which case I laugh.
- Sethbacca, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If this thing includes HD-DVD drive built in for around the same price as the current premium system then I'm sold!
- Fearnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It sure as hell wont, so quit dreaming. (even though that would be quite nice)
- Sethbacca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, here's to hoping :)
- orgazmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why is there a pillow covering the other inputs?
- smokespliffz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I don't know what the big fuss is, it's really not going to make a big deal to anyone, how many of you own 60'' + TV's ? Even at that it won't make a minor difference, Component would be the better option, rather than HDMI due to DRM (if you don't know what I'm on about then shut the ***** up), also Digital isn't better than Analog, their are arguments for and against both, but the greater arguments are for Analog.
If you're that worried and haven't bought an X360 yet, then make sure you consider purchasing a TV that supports HDMI as well as component, and the standard SCART, not a big deal, that's what I did ( Thanks LG :-) )
The only major concern here would be the hard drive, and I'm pretty much sure it will be external like the 20 GB drive. I'm sure there will be an alternative option for current X360 owners like myself for some sort of HDMI Adapter, or something alike, I just wouldn't worry about it until Microsoft make an official statement. - pabster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The only thing I want is a 120GB (or larger) drive. I could care less about HDMI or a 65nm process chip. Neither of those would be enough to make me want to "upgrade" to a new 360.
- dr00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i'm the same boat.
i don't get why people are freaking out either. it's a nice addition, but not enough to warrant upgrading (from what's been speculated) and there's not even a pricepoint yet.
i'll just buy a larger HD, but i'm sure my 20g will do me just fine for a while.
- dr00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i'm the same boat.
- andreo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very very nice. I will be getting this when it comes out. The old 360 will go into a bedroom or something. I will have to assume that they will be decoding DD+ and True HD.
Though I really do hope that they are able to release a HDMI cable for the original 360 as well.
I know that consumer devices change, get revisions, gain some features and loose others. But it will cause some bad blood with people that already purchased the 360 simply because they are MS. And lets face it. Even though the system is not really really expensive, buying a replacement is not a trivial matter.
But if only for the sake of progress I'm looking forward to this new model and I'm very excited. I hope we start seeing them this spring or summer. - Syko3599, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this wont be released with the 90nm chips it will have 65nm chips.
Expect to wait till june/july for a halo 3 bundle.
but, just imagine how badass it would be if microsoft replaced all 10mill. units. More than unlikely but HIgh Hopes :)- smokespliffz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They would win many consumers over for doing that but very unlikely due to the high costs involved, although they have more than enough money to burn.
- smokespliffz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I see most people are looking for bigger drives, Why not just purchase a 250GB external usb 2 drive? It cost me about 80 quid, and the X360 recognizes it? Or one of those minture laptop 2.5'' drive and adaptors to match your X360? It does the job and is discreet (behind the tv lol)
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So apparently everyone who bought a 360 over Xmas (all 2M) were buying the "tard pack" 360 inadvertently. Now if you bought one, your cost to get up to current spec is going to be a full price replacement. You can't even buy the core unit (at $300?) because one of the new features is the larger HDD.
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What's with the giant penguin next to the screen? "Who knows what lurks in the labs of Microsoft? The Penguin knows!"
- jmreid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This explains why I got such a great deal on a 360 bundle right after Christmas.
- godfa7h3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Alright I need to know two things now.
1) How will I get my digital audio output?
2) How can I transfer all of my stuff to the new 120GB HD? - NetPhantom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2why would xbox-scene get a scoop like this? they're a modding site
- apoc06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the mod communities get insider help every so often.
or perhaps its a photo of an unbelievable modding job

- TheKingInYellow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1next time just use the on board microphone of your camera to explain to us what you're doing while you're doing it instead of dubbing over your video with some craptastic music. huff.
- Nethid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There is a big possibility that this is fake.
First, The 360 itself looks like an ordinary Xbox 360 (not like the black, extended harddrive spot, that all the other devs are). On The Hana scaler picture (the last picture on there), the words seem way too symmetrical on the photo, and the whole thing looks... photoshoped.
Heres the big thing hat I noticed that screams fake- One the photo of the back of the Xbox 360, you can see the HDMI port.If you look above it, you can see the metal going around the HDMI port. Now, look at the Ethernet port on the right side, notice how there are two very different metals around the ports? Why would Microsoft randomly do this? I see no good reason to use a different type of metal around the ports.
And of course, how did somebody take this picture? How could this super secret prototype gt dissected by some random people, and then get picture taken?
There is just too much wrong with this... - Nicko9y, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Stupid rap music ruined it.
- Krakn3Dfx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What I'm more interested in is if the v2 will be more reliable, less prone to overheating and chip connection problems that have plagued v1. It would be nice to think the MS would work on these things while improving the console system overall.
Having said that, owning a new console for a year or less just to have it eclipsed by a new revision that will force people to shell out another $300-$400 to upgrade is an insult. If it was 2-3 years later, it would be one thing, but getting stuck with what basically amounts to the beta version of of a console while they release a new, fixed version is bunk. Will I run off to PS3 Land because of it? No. Will I put less money into XBox 360 games for it? You bet your ***. - edkrayer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm working setting up ces this year here in vegas, i'll check this out tomorrow at microsoft booths... and tents (huge tents)...
- smokespliffz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you better tell us soon mate, cause it looks like most people are pissed
- neocitron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i can't believe people that would demand a free upgrade to the HDMI version... you paid for, knowlingly, an xbox 360 WITHOUT HDMI... to demand something that you never paid for, a whole new product, is just plain stupid.
- SocketNine3Nine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So much for our society of v1's, we just have to admit that the v2 is coming and hope that MSoft will atleast offer us a discount on a new hard drive.
