- kingfelix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26i think the interface is way too crowded, but i love how the people who 'win' the poll have a disco party.
i wish we got real questions like 'can you whistle a song'...
until then i'll be living in my blue house on the beach in the 22nd century, playing with my dog and not writing any fan letters or getting angry at my friends who are 10 minutes late. - aboyd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18It's just for fun. Nothing else. The results are used by no one. The questions are pablum such as "what is your favorite color?" Your voice is not "getting heard." Instead, your voice is getting filed away as one anonymous blip on a pie chart. Poll Burner or any other poll-making Web site is 100x more relevant. They can do more robust polls. The polls can be integrated into Web communities for discussion. The polls can be created instantly without waiting for a committee to approve/deny it. Nintendo's approach is just something to occupy my 9 year-old. Appreciate it for what it is. Don't try to make every little feature into a revolution.
- tange1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16The writer said he's had errors and long wait times for data. I've never had an error and the time to acquire data seemed reasonable to me.
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Hopefully they'll add something useful in the near future. Voting for new characters for Smash Bros. Brawl would be awesome, but unfortunately not too likely.
- rockforever, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I'm hoping they start asking which games should be released on the VC like a month in advance. Or if say, Metroid had downloadable maps, ask which are your favorites and for what reason. That way we could get a voice in about what we like about the games.
- superpixel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9D. All of the above
- JaybeasCorpus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I sent my Wii off for repairs the day before the Everybody Votes Channel came out...while I get to experience the wonderful customer service I've heard so much about lately, I'd much rather be telling Nintendo that my favorite color is blue, and I can whistle a song.
Hurry home, Wii! We have so much work to do! - Guitarsenal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This channel is my opportunity to submit one smart-assed fake poll question to Nintendo per day. So far I've done:
Kill the friend codes? Answers: "Yes!" and "Of Course!"
All Wii games should have online play capability? Answers: "Yes!" and "Obviously!"
The Wii should get a firmware patch to allow it to play DVDs and music CDs. Answers: "Yes!" and "Very Yes!" - kalidav, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Personally I think it's a waste of time, but I'm prolly by myself on that one...
- freetyme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@ Parokki They had that on an online forum, new suggestions closed June 9th 2006
- Sealab2021, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7They need to add sections so you can look at random questions, political questions and game questions.
- IlliniJen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's a silly little concept and could be more robust with further development, but dammit, I check it every day. Could it be that Nintendo is slowly easing its Wii userbase online? Let's hope so, they really need to take strides in this area, esp. online gameplay.
- quiksilver070, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I agree, I've never had any waiting problems either.
- judremy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@ aminom:
You don't perhaps like the PS3? - judremy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well given those two choices I'd have to say peanut butter goes better with peanut butter than honey does.
- Guitarsenal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Maybe today I'll send this one:
Get Jeff Minter to write a psychedelic CD playing channel? Answers: "Groovy!" and "Far Out Man!" - IlliniJen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I had a long wait time the other day, to the point where I had to turn my Wii off. I can't testify if it was a channel issue or my wireless connection. I had to reset my router earlier that day, and I don't know if my Wii reconnected successfully. After the reset, the channel was working fine. No slowdown at all.
- Xylem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I have my wii hooked up through a lan adapter and I haven't had any trouble connecting on the vote channel or any other channel.
Also, they need more questions, like at least one a day. - chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Mainstream Wii users will eat this up. Women, especially, with all the cuteness, and dammit, everytime my Mii wins in a prediction, I just find it so adorable! Nintendo is trying to kill us all with diabetes from all these sweetness and cuteness.
- Eallan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I'm with you there. No real point to it. I've used it once and i think that'll be all i use it.
- TimDub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm not sure about a social-networking service (that's what "Wii Friends" and their codes are for, right?). I believe that these trivial questions are Nintendo's way of beta-testing the EVC before posting more-interesting polls having to do with game development, the Virtual Console, etc. By allowing any user to submit their own poll question for consideration, they've established a convenient suggestion box for any Wii user, and not just the ones who would bother to submit a comment via Nintendo.com .
At least, I hope that those are the plans for the EVC. - donkeycrock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i suggested "***** or ass", i wonder what would win
- double051, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The vote channel was a very pleasant surprise, and i can;t wait to see what Nintendo has up their sleeve. Perhaps a Digg-like service in the News channel? A gaming tips channel?
- Klipart, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Its more like everyone is disappointed. Release a media player or something that utilizes the USB ports, not a something shockingly similar to something already available on the internet, that can be accessed by the browser.
- gharding, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Seeing as how it's the closest thing to online play that the Wii has.. rock on!
- squirmalicious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ohhhhh yes.
- ShivaOritiner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I submitted "Would you rather vote for a giant douche or turd sammich?" Oddly enough, it didn't get selected.
- burndive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Obviously they plan on having a bunch of random "fun" questions, but also questions designed to gather information about their target market.
- damon5334, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I enjoy reading people who think Nintendo's next step will be to move this more towards gaming polls, or tie this in with future VC releases. I think those poeple may have misread that this is the "Everybody Votes Channel," and not the "Gamers Vote Channel." Whoever made the comparison to the EVC and the USA Today was right on. If they gave a this or that choice on VC games, how would that help? Everyone will be complaining about the choice of games on the EVC, and meanwhile people who may not even use the VC will be voting on the lesser of two evils.
- squirmalicious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know, the reactions are too cute.
- OrangeSunshine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How about online multi-player for goldeneye on the virtual console? That would be so rad...
- mojorojoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In a statement today Hillary Clinton stated she would be making a stop on your Wii on the Everybody votes channel as a mii. Furthermore you must vote as she directs or you lose your vote.
- VertigoOne, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4The whole execution seems too painful to me. The process of voting on.. 3-6 items takes at least 5 minutes (of wait screens, not of 'fun' screens). You could do it all in less than a minute on a simple webpage. I found the whole channel a little too frustrating just to play around with a few (too few) silly questions.
If I'm going to bother try it again, speed the darn thing up (sheesh, it's just a few 2-option internet polls) and give us more content.
Social Networking Service? Whatever. It's an internet poll, nothing more. - staffell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0they need to bring out some manner of competition channel where you can win free wii points. I have no idea how that might work, I just want free points...
- ZorboMan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1wuts ur favrit color lol?!?!?
Sorry, but it is retarded. - aminom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Judremy: No. I just hate people who elevate their choice of a plastic box filled with silicon and metal to that of a religion.
- hairlessape, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1you all better vote on my "what's goes better with peanut butter on a sandwich?" peanut butter or honey
come on it was the only thing i could think of that might actually get picked - sotopheavy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3I really want them to ask some serious questions that are not too complicated for kids to understand like: if they think war is bad, if bush can spell his name, if they have ever made a blog post, ever been in a fight, ever donated to charity, regularly go to church/mosque/temple, do they like coutry music? rap?, alternative...
- Dudemanpp, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3I'm omsessed with this channel. I go to it every day. It seems retarded, but it's not.
- dkguy55, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Did you know that when you turn on the Wiimote for the first time, the number of lights that comes on it is how much battery life is left? I just noticed that! Awesome!
- aminom, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Great, now maybe the loud, obsessed gamer fanboys will get off Digg and be loud somewhere else.
Wait a minute, what was I thinking? Consumerist brandmongers have plenty of yell to fill the entire Internets. - fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1OMG! Nintendo is all about innovation, this voting channel is such a cool and useful concept! What will they think of next?!
*dripping with sarcasm* - alteratti, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1@ story's title:
Shouldn't it be "Everybody Votes, one Wiik later"?? - aminom, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1You forget. Any poor copy of something already found on the tubes is a Revolution to a fanboy, because the basement is a long way away from the livingroom.
- aminom, on 10/12/2007, -14/+0Or how about a "Fellatiate Nintendo" channel for the fanboys?

What is Digg?
The Digg Toolbar for Firefox lets you Digg, submit content, and keep track of Digg even when you're not on the Digg site. Download the official
