- Junkyarddawg, on 10/10/2007, -11/+86What got me were the Christian Extreme Sports.
I envisioned, like, Forcible Conversion, Flagellation, Burning Alive... Or at least Marathon Preaching, Door-To-Door Mission, and Choir Boy Buggering. - piper999, on 10/10/2007, -7/+67'More than a carpenter'
Do you think he could take a look at my wiring? I'll need rates and availability. - Natetendo83, on 10/10/2007, -3/+42I'm a Christian and I would never play the Left Behind game...it sucks
- kevinmotel, on 10/10/2007, -3/+41Rod: Convert the Heathens, Convert the Heathens!
Bart: Yeah! I got one!
Tod: No, you just nicked him. Now he's Unitarian. - Bajeda, on 10/10/2007, -4/+36"With tanks, helicopters and a fearsome arsenal of automatic weapons at their disposal, Left Behind players wage a violent war against United Nations-like peacekeepers who, according to LaHaye's interpretation of Revelation, represent the armies of the Antichrist. Each time a Left Behind player kills a UN soldier, their virtual character exclaims, "Praise the Lord!" To win the game, players must kill or convert all the non-believers left behind after the rapture."
From related article ----> http://www.thenation.com/blogs/notion?bid=15&pid=220960 - jedi924, on 10/10/2007, -7/+33Wow, that's brilliant! All the soldiers have to do is get the Iraqis to play this game, they will then become depressed at how bad the game is and simply lie down and give up. Granted I think this tactic isn't allowed under the Geneva Convention, as it constitutes a form of extreme torture.
Seriously though, don't send our soldiers that game, don't they suffer enough on the battle field as it is. That game is just terrible (And this is coming from a life long Southern Baptist). - Aurostion, on 10/10/2007, -10/+34Lets get this straight: a Christian fundamentalist ministry is distributing, with the apparent blessing of the Pentagon, a video game based on the Left Behind books where the premise is to convert or kill non-Christians to US soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Predominately Muslim nations.
Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture? We accuse insurgents there of wanting to institute a Iranian style theocracy while pushing a christian group with pentagon endorsement pushes christian supremacy? - Adventeuer, on 10/10/2007, -14/+37While they're at it.. why don't they just take a huge ***** in a box and send that?
- mightyslick, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26Because gamers back home have better games to play.
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/10/2007, -7/+25Isn't that exactly what they did?
- iamafatguy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17"Each time a Left Behind player kills a UN soldier, their virtual character exclaims, "Praise the Lord!" To win the game, players must kill or convert all the non-believers left behind after the rapture."
Is that what Jesus would do?
/No thanks. - Dumbledorito, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11What happens if you instead compare someone's policies to Oliver Cromwell?
- Lane, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14I know! lets attach freedom, terrorist, and patriot to everything so its easy for people to tell "good" from "evil".....
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Yes, the Spanish inquisition was certainly an all time low for America.
- realclark, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11its not as good as 'Billy Grahams Bible Blaster 2'
- SlackerCS, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15Who cares? Send 'em a copy of Doom 3 if you want to balance things out. It's a free country - people can send what they want.
- Unsanity, on 10/10/2007, -6/+14Personally, I don't define freedom of religion as sending religious propaganda to our tropps, but maybe I'm just old-fashioned that way.
- cusoman, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Right there with ya. I actually sat down with a few of the developers at E3 2 years ago and pretty much crushed their excitement when I started laying into the ideas behind the game. I too am a Christian.
- Flashman, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12"Freedom packets"? But I've never heard of "French packets"...
- AriaStar, on 10/10/2007, -8/+15Wtf would be a Christian extreme sport, power-praying?
Anyway, I think our troops are getting enough exercise just trying not to die. - felman87, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11I wouldn't mind a free copy of that game. I got this table that's missing the end part of the leg and the CD case would make a perfect substitute.
- Aggaman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I don't know. I'm an atheist, but at least the game's premise is somewhat original. If nothing else, it would be a good laugh, I think.
What we really need is a religious FPS shooter, where you can choose from a selection of vicars, imams, rabbis, lamas, priests and other clergy, and then battle it out to determine whose is the one true and real God. What could be more fun than being a rabbi with a bazooka? - futureisours, on 10/10/2007, -6/+13Where can I get this game? Sounds even better than Postal 2!!
- anachronaut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Udder *****? Is that some new form of fecal milk? Sounds utterly disgusting.
- oneovernone, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I actually read "More than a Carpenter," and actually thought it was very informative. It provides very logical and reasonable argument for Christ's divinity. It's written by the same guy who wrote "More Evidence that Demands a Verdict," which is a more exhaustive research on the subject.
Hey, if they don't want it they don't have to read it. - pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9"praise the lord" = "allahu akbar".
- allisonaxe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"What could be more fun than being a rabbi with a bazooka?"
Jew-Jitsu the Kung-Fu Rabbi. they could make it a fighting game (not an fps as you suggested) - bonhoeffer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Just can't stand knowing its there, out of sight, in a drawer, huh?
Its not enough to live and let live; you've got to DEFY religion to get your hate on.
What a creep. - coffeebot, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6so, all we have to do is fake THE RAPTURE and we can set off WWIII
- oneovernone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Actually it doesn't make that assumption at all. I should rethink what I said...
It actually doesn't attempt to prove the existence of anything supernatural. But it does provide arguments for the validity and historicity of the events described in the Gospels. Of course the train of thought goes, "well if those events did occur as they say, then..." And you draw your own conclusions. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Damn!! I only winged him and turned him into a Unitarian
- blackjack75, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4It's as much "just a GAME" as " Der ewige Jude" is "just a movie".
- eamonchaney, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7you made milk come out my nose!
- MaTT2011, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7I wasnt aware that the crusades were an american thing.
I DO think its an all time low; our own government allowing and seemingly PROMOTING this kind of propaganda to OUR troops which are supposed to be without such bias in an effort to create a mindless religious army for our new crusades is pretty low. America, us, says one thing and does something completely different. Separation of church and state is great! Now lets turn our army into a religious one for our new crusades....because that makes complete sense. Hey! Lets bring democracy to the world at the end of a bullet! But lets make sure those firiing the bullets are doing so because of religious fervor and idiocy... - subat0mic, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7yes, it's called holy war. it's sick and wrong. and if the pentagon is supporting it, that is criminal.
- kevinmotel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Nobody expects the spanish-american inquisition!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Quick! Everybody hide!
- MaTT2011, on 10/10/2007, -8/+11Sorry bud, but in this case all this stuff is simply more religious propaganda which is aimed at creating an army of religious zealots who do nothing than sacrifice themselves, in a similar but more futile and pointless manner as that of their blindly worshiped deity, for evil causes being schemed by the tiny percentage of fat cats who profit from such pointless fighting that is filled by anti-intellectual human behavior and belief systems.
There is nothing wrong with freedom of religion; there is, however, something very evil about creating a population of mindless individuals fueled by violence, hate and bigotry for no other purpose than to profit a small few at the cost of the majority. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5No dispute? Don't be ridiculous. There is no historical or archaeological evidence to support the existence of Jesus at all. Please show me some.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It is not another religion hopping into terrorism! It is a game made after a book(s) based on the Bible's book of Revelation. It is supposed to take place AFTER the second coming of Christ which hasn't happened yet. What the hell are you people talking about? You knock the Bible, yet you know nothing about it or it's teachings... You read the old testament and try to use it against us, even though we live under the new covenant by Jesus Christ and his teachings. The old testament is still there to show examples of how things were, but Jesus Christ changed all that, so throwing the old testament in our faces will get you no where. Read revelation, that is what the left behind series is all about.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Consistently stupid.
- schroeder, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Ummm, Jesus (the son) was the carpenter, Jehovah (the father) was not. Do you get the irregular bibles on the discount rack or something?
- jjpipster, on 10/10/2007, -10/+13These so-called "Christians" are nothing but hypocrites. They are advocating killing others because they don't agree on religion. Doesn't that make them terrorists?
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4http://www.sandafayre.com/atlas/carib.htm
- Hypersapien, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Yes. For that he managed to earn an ounce of my respect.
He's still an asshat, though. - tubeblender, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5How about just bring them the ***** home and let them PICK THEIR OWN ***** BOOKS AND GAMES?
Free ***** is still *****. - Hypersapien, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If any soldiers who receive the game read this, consider sending the game back to them.
Riddled will bulletholes. - tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It must be a satire that they didn't understand... right? Otherwise, I've lost hope for humanity.
- subat0mic, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5well, yeah, they are wrong. but not because i don't agree. but because it's wrong to encourage holy war.
- kylesellers, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6They're giving stuff away for free, what's the big deal. People who don't want it, are offended by it, or just outright hate it, don't have to take it.
People can do whatever the hell they want with their own money. You're acting just like they do when some charity tries to give out free condoms. Self righteousness is not just for the whacko right... -
