- dgcrazykid, on 10/11/2007, -8/+23If the ESRB won't let them put a trailer up, then I wonder what they are going to rate this game..... AO? Stupid ESRB... let us decide what we want to play.
- jayfarer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Well, the point isn't to make sure the 17 year olds don't get in, it's to ensure that the publishers can't be held accountable.
- Idgit, on 10/11/2007, -6/+18From the letter:
"Since 2005, ARC guidelines have required that trailers for M-rated games on publisher websites be displayed behind an age gate to help restrict viewing to those visitors who are 17 and older."
Because we ALL know kids under 17 don't lie about their age. - Eivo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I'm going to get dugg down for this, but whatever. Your fight isn't with the ESRB, it's with is with the console manufacturers and retailers. Seriously. The ESRB has been doing an awesome job at what it does. It's just insane to see everyone attack the ESRB right after defending it against Thompson.
- Pinhedd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Last I checked, the ESRB was a civilian board with no force in law, what can they do? refuse to rate a game? I honestly think that north america needs a second entertainment rating system that isn't so biased and petty.
- dargon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Not really, but then again, open source developers aren't really all that concerned with selling their product at places such as Walmart and Toys R Us, who won't carry the game if it's unrated.
- oxdeltaxo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Do open source developers have to be the ESRB's bitch too?
- thorvath, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5btw the comments on the article's page contain a very not safe for work image, figured I'd throw out a warning so others don't have to live my "oh crap" moment
- stronglikedan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Only two things will come of this:
1) The trailer will not permeate the internets more than it ever would have otherwise (without "age gates").
2) Chaa-ching Dark Sector production team.
ESRB's persistence is its own undoing. - darkNiGHTS, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Is ESRB becoming the next RIAA? Find out in the next few weeks on digg.
- ShadySpace, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4What the ***** is wrong with you? This is the second time you've done this today, attention-whoring motha' *****.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3yup that's exactly what they can do, and when they go to get a license from a console they will be denied in every way
- crisisaverted, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2No, that's exactly the problem. The ESRB doesn't have to appease conservative parent organizations -- it has to make fair decisions to suit all consumers. Conservative parent organizations need to leave the ESRB alone and go back to raising kids who grow up with anxiety problems.
- twodayslate, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Never heard of this game till now but it looks great!
- echonull, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Where the HELL has the Block button gone?!
- bIuebonics, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2how is lemonparty anything BUT safe for work?
- jjesusfreak01, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I agree with the ESRB, the video is extremely violent. However, if you watch the other video about how vegetables are used to make the gore sounds, then you will probably just laugh your way through the gory video.
- edesignweb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1no it's ***** funny, you pc *****.
- tymme, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Did anyone even read the ESRB's response? It's simply a "We've covered our ass and told you ti's age-restricted, now you figure out what to do with it" letter. The original letter (never seen, only summarized after following a few links) requests it be pulled, but shows no form/signs of enforcement. It's simply a CYA letter.
- electrolemon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2lulz, Destructoid is foar nubs. not news, dig down plz. [/asshats]
In all seriousness, that crazy British man is alright. Dugg. - roflcawpter, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Here are some of the trailers/teasers (if you want more clips, check out the gametrailers.com section)

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/15242.html - ShivaOritiner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This is double plus ungood.
- tucsonwc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1An AO rating is a death sentence for a game as Wally-mart won't stock the game. Just look at Manhunt 2.
The publisher would have to consider selling these directly from their own website or from places which WILL sell AO content. - funkydopeloven, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1ffs, they can't MAKE them do anything. they ASKED for them to be removed
- DarkDragon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Let me see if I have their logic: If there is gaming content on a website, the ESRB can regulate the web =/
- shmatt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1no. it's comment abuse, and it's stupid. get lost
- PerfectVictim, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1So, what, is the ESRB going on some sort of rampage now?
Also, can the ESRB force their age gates and so forth onto sites/games that arent hosted/published in the US? - revoked, on 10/11/2007, -1/+118/m/CA
- abaddon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1"ESRB's call for Dark Sector's trailers online to be removed on the grounds that they contain "excessive or offensive content"
hmmm bening pulledl off the internet..... for being to offensive.......the same internet that brings you the "golden showers" mind you....... - edesignweb, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1omg! It's like a ***** free-4-all!
- JudgeMonkey, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1You're absolutely right. Horray ESRB. thank you for censoring everything suddenly. Thank you for thinking we are idiots who would turn a blind eye to this sudden despotic behavior. Thank you for trying to make everything so damn sterile that the govt wouldn't even dream of interfering, since everything is getting so stifled on it's own......
Yeah. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0hey... i have a bridge in NY for sale
- Kaosu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Ugh, Destructoid. All this commotion over a trailer. They act like this is so shocking. There IS questionable content. Do they realize that after the whole Hot coffee fiasco, the ESRB is on a short leash. Any slip-up can bring up government intervention. Trust me, we DON'T want to add their ridiculous bureaucracy to the mix. As it stands now, the ESRB is our best bet and While we might be more liberal at Digg, the ESRB has to appease the conservative parent organizations.
- tazx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Can we just tell the ESRB to go ***** themselves? They're not government, they're not directly responsible to anyone but software publishers. They're becoming draconian, in killing games (Manhunt 2) and dictating what is acceptable advertising.
- Slyfer911, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Wish I had seen your warning earlier....*shudder*
- edesignweb, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1it's mad funny, come on.
- ghaib, on 10/11/2007, -7/+3Let's have one day at Digg without Destructoid spam!
