- lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -11/+110If you want to sell them, don't put a much better alternative right next to them.
- IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -26/+107Obviously EB Games didn't put that there.
- Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -5/+59In the future, kids, please do not use ImageShack for a Digg submission. The individual images have bandwidth caps that are pretty small.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+55Anyone else think it is a bit suspicious how it looks like it was written by a nerdy 8 year old...
Oh wait, we are talking about EB Games arent we... - mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -8/+57*COMMENT ABUSING*
http://duggmirror.com/ - Mo0man, on 10/12/2007, -1/+48cause then they wouldn't have thousands of dollars of stock just sitting there?
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+411.Selling stuff is how they make money
2.It's not good to have unsold products setting their store - scott1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+41Sony put them there obviously.
- EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -27/+60@JamesConnolly
You sure about that? I was just at Walmart(bought a Zune to try out...whether I like it or not it will be returned, because amazon has it for $30 less :P) and asked about any Wii in stock. The guy there was just saying how it was nearly impossible unless you get absolutely lucky to get one...and then he said "BUT we do have PS3's in stock! You want one of those?" And my reply was "Hell no!". :P
Your lame and I wish I could mark you as a blind fan boy. - masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34http://duggmirror.com/gaming_news/EB_Games_Pleads_Gamers_To_Buy_Numerous_Unsold_PS3_s/ps3lu9.jpg
- monospaced, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28...lower the price, and they will sell...
- rabidsnail, on 10/12/2007, -6/+31I was at Wal-Mart the other day and they were announcing on the loudspeaker that they had them, seemingly in a desperate attempt to get them sold. So this doesn't seem too far off.
- xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23imageshack sucks, wish people would stop posting pictures through them.
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20You must not live on earth....
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Its amazing how dedicated Diggers are about finding and celebrating negative stories about game consoles :p
- goatswii, on 10/12/2007, -7/+23@jbonnain "Whomever is still defending the console in terms of it being 'hot' and a big seller is either an extremely isolated case, or should simply simmer down."
The only ones defending the console are asstards that are $600 poorer. - Daedalus81, on 10/12/2007, -11/+27Haha. This is funny. I should have never posted that picture. EB did post it (this is my local EB), but these submissions need to stop now... :-P
Seriously, they need to stop! - digggggggggg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Dude, for that matter, why would any store care if anyone bought anything?? Hell, why doesn't every store just close down now, since hiring employees is expensive, and moving stock out the door is not important at all? This is because we all know that stores don't make money by, you know, selling stuff for profit. Instead, they could make just as much money by NOT selling stuff.
EB Games paid sony a few hundred dollars a unit to stock PS3's, and if they don't sell, they they lose money by having unsold stock. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Haha I have a friend who is a manger at my local EBGames and they do this stuff all of the time. They did actually put a PS3 empty box right out of the door that said "Steal Me, No Ones Buying Them Anyway". Yes, they did have quite a few still in stock.
- Tolzmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20"Ooooh ok. Just for you EB Games!"
*Checks price and available games*
"AWW HECK NO" - asholds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I work at a Circuit City in Massachusetts. We got 15 PS3s in last week. There are still more than ten of them sitting there unsold, even after putting signs like these up ourselves.
- crazypainting, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Don't believe you can just walk into a store and buy a Playstation 3?
Wal-Mart Store #2187 (509) 664-2448
Target (509) 664-5060
GameStop #2642 (509) 884-9282 - mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Well, the head offices didn't say anything to them directly, but it reflects better on the store to the franchise heads if they move more units.
- mtownand1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16just posting this at the top, the other link is down: http://duggmirror.com/gaming_news/EB_Games_Pleads_Gamers_To_Buy_Numerous_Unsold_PS3_s/ps3lu9.jpg
digg masamunecyrus up, he found the link. - Ocelot13, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11PS3's hard to acquire? yea sure, that why when i went to State College (PSU main campus), both walmarts had PS3's in stock, Best Buy had them, circuit city, and also the 2 EB's had them. i only know this because we were trying to find a Wii to play.
- shirosamurai, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14This same exact article with slightly different wording and a different URL is on the Digg homepage three times each day. Give it a damn rest, people.
We get it! PS3s are NOT SELLING!! - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12"Its not like the 360s are sold out..."
It's not like 10 million 360's have been sold. Oh wait, they have.
When you see a newly released playstation console stack next to a year old (already pretty market saturated) xbox 360 stack, and selling at the same rate or slower, thats a BIG problem. - Sk8SkaNJ, on 10/12/2007, -15/+23The Xbox 360s have been flying off the shelves at the Best Buy I work at. They're averaging one every 10-15 minutes.
- squirrelza, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Okay, why the HELL is Xbox 360 sitting next to it if they are trying to sell it?
- msgyrd, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16I abhor Sony, and I think the PS3 is an all around let down compared to their previous console launches, but this still looks painfully fake. How hard would it be for someone to smuggle in this standard sheet of printer paper and tape it to the stack of PS3s, then use their camera to snap a picture before an employee noticed? I'd say your odds of success would range in the 99 to 100% range.
Anyways, isn't a stack of PS3s a good thing? They're finally able to stock them, which means people can buy them. Granted, the Wii is still selling out everywhere, but that doesn't mean the PS3 isn't selling at all.
As for the 360 sitting around....well obviously, it's been out a year. The early adopters have had one for going on 13 months, the kids have had them for about 12 months, and anyone else immediately interested had one 6 months ago. - scotl89, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13*Whoever*. "Whom" is an object. You're using it as the subject. Stop being pretentious.
- anthonybruno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8EB Games does not put actual consoles out on the floor. Walk into any store and you will find boxes for any console.
- Lazybones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7They have been coming in steady since launch around here.. It is just that they don't stay on the shelf for more than a few min after the stores open.
From checking several stores there are actually far more Wii's coming in than PS3s it just happens here are more people that want the Wii. - guitarpro411, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I work at circuit city and we have about 5 in the back right now. I still have about 4 people a day asking if we have any wii's in stock.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11I was at Best Buy yesterday, and I asked if there were any PS3s in stock, and there were 25.
I asked when they came in, and the manager said yesterday, which would make it Friday evening that they were shipped the systems. I live in Saint Petersburg, FL, and it's a very busy city.
There was a sign outside and everything ("PS3s in STOCK!"), and two employees I talked to referred to the PS3 as "*****".
Whomever is still defending the console in terms of it being 'hot' and a big seller is either an extremely isolated case, or should simply simmer down. - poxonyou, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10That sign was probably written by someone to be funny ("Sony suxxx! I'll write this sign...no one likes the PS3. Har har!")) because 1) it doesn't help in convincing someone they must buy if you're begging them (instead, you say, "We just got these, they're going fast, hurry up and get one before they're gone!"), 2) it's pointless to write they're in-stock on the box, it would make more sense to put it on the window where people could see it when passing buy, 3) EB Games would like to sell anything they could, including that stack of 360s and their overpriced used-games, why would they beg people to buy PS3s only?
That said, we all know PS3s are not flying off the shelves like they were the first few weeks after launch. It doesn't mean the PS3 is doomed or Sony is going out of business, it just means there aren't enough rich or impatient gamers...most of us will wait and will likely end up buying one if good games come out for it as they likely will. In the meantime, most are buying Wiis which they can afford. - MateyO, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7This is the last thread I'll post to (so has not to be a postwhore)
30+ at the Park Meadows Best Buy:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/33743995@N00/341835399/ - angelp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Wow....you mean to tell me people aren't running to pay $500-$600 for a gaming console days after they've spent a boatload of money buying gifts for friends and families?
- cakestick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah, the Best Buy on cape has been putting them next to a table at the front of the store. Last I saw, there were 6 stacked and nobody looking.
***** Sony for overestimating parental desire to be their childrens' buddies by spoiling the hell out of them. - 5000a, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Don't They put the empty boxes in the front of the store.
- omygroin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5as much as I love riding the PS3SUX wave, it's getting kinda boring now. It's obvious those are empty promo boxes, real ones have handles. I don't know, but Digg is kind of turning into a place where fanboys can get their next fix of PS3 bashing. oh well guess some people cant get enough of it cuz they've been dismal for the past 10 years because their home console was getting killed by the Playstations. I know cuz i was a Nintendo zealot once, and it was some rough rough times. but now things are loooking good for nintendo and most are happy for them. but im getting sick of these stories.
- cheekdog, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8@jonesyhahaha:
WHAT? WHAT WAS THAT?? - ptsd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5places like EB and Gamestop treat customers like *****, who gives a ***** if they arn't selling ps3's. all i can think is..good, i hope they lose money. i rather wait and buy a ps3 from an independently owned videogame store.
- septicmadman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Yet another reason why imageshack isn't nearly as good as flickr
- Djarum, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Actually that looks to be the front of my store there. We have had a ton of PS3s sitting in our back room since the second week of December. The sign was most likely written by a employee to try to get those systems out the door.
Sadly, you can't give the things away. You can get someone interested in it but once they hear the price they bolt of the door or ask about another system. The only people who I have seen buy it personally have been Asian or Arab exchange students with their parent's Chase Manhattan credit card. - xain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I have a pile of them sitting at my work right now. In fact, many of the London Drugs in the Vancouver, BC area currently have stock.
- Robomonkey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8@JamesConnolly
Hmmph. "Gone by afternoon" I was at the EB games down the street with my friend (who is desperate for a Wii) , lucky for him a shipment had literally just arrived through the front door w/ 5 Wiis and 3 PS3s. Long story short, he didn't get one; All five of them were sold out in less then 10 minutes, and only 1 of their PS3s had been sold. We came back 2 hours later and lo and behold were the PS3s still sitting there. - Steve95613, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Same thing in a NH Walmart
- frepnog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5just my 2 cents, i live in west tennessee, and there are no wii's any where, but toys r us, best buy, and wal mart all have ps3 in stock. this is in a big town (jackson) where i damn well know people have money. no one is buying the things, but the wii sells like they were going to stop making them.
just my 2 cents.
BTW, i own a 360, and will buy a wii as soon as i can walk into a store and buy one. - F9Phoenix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Exactly. Here in NYC we have ZERO. Please send them to the GameStops here. We are fresh out. They said they won't get anymore until next week at the earliest. We want them.
