- chris9902, on 10/14/2007, -0/+46EA vs. Activision: Who can make the most money from ***** movie tie-ins?
- Crazychipmunk, on 10/15/2007, -0/+21Except for that EA tends to screw those games up pretty bad by not finishing certain modes. Do you remember the influence system from Madden '07? I have never seen so many popup boxes in my life......
- EvanVolm, on 10/14/2007, -1/+19King=EA
Better of the two=Activision - shinythingy, on 10/15/2007, -1/+18No they make one game of each sport and release it every year
- Zuhsz, on 10/14/2007, -2/+19Capcom.
- inactive, on 10/15/2007, -2/+18EA, obviously, when people start noticing that every single version of Madden is the same as the previous, they will lose lots of money
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/15/2007, -2/+14It's too bad they both suck.
- skyshock1, on 10/14/2007, -1/+11Konami
- Ajajadude, on 10/14/2007, -1/+10Highly doubtful. It would've happened already.
- Rupan, on 10/14/2007, -1/+8I hate 3rd parties. The first party is always the best. The after ones just keep getting lamer...
- Asianwaste, on 10/14/2007, -1/+7Does it matter if Far Cry 2 is Ubisoft? It isn't made by CryTek, the makers of Far Cry. That's like how F.E.A.R. 2 will be made by Vivendi, but Project Origin & Perseus Mandate are made by Monolith. On the other hand, I hope I don't see Crysis, now with banner ads.
- asskey, on 10/15/2007, -0/+6EA Games
We Own Everything - Koushiro, on 10/15/2007, -1/+7I know who loses in all of this. Us. :(
- woodcoxcb, on 10/14/2007, -0/+5one word. valve.
- SonicBoom1000, on 10/14/2007, -0/+5People like you are why publishers think it's okay to push out annual rehashes.
- iofthestorm, on 10/15/2007, -0/+5Uhh, and two mega-corporations buying up all the 3rd party devs increases competition how?
- imarco, on 10/14/2007, -0/+4SNK.
... oh, wait. - sleeknerve, on 10/14/2007, -1/+5this years madden was actually the first good madden in three years, they all used to be very good though, but the better the technology, the harder it is to make good games
- TurboBeard, on 10/13/2007, -0/+4They were fantastic back in the day but, now, anything with a movable camera angle blows.
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/14/2007, -1/+4Skate KILLS THPS... It's so much better it's not even funny.
- inactive, on 10/14/2007, -1/+4It's scary, but I agree with you, EA seems to be at least trying now.
Skate is the most addicting Skateboarding game since Tony Hawk 1
Army of Two looks like a blast
Command and Conquer 3 reminds me of the original C&C, and plays very much like it
Crysis just looks cool as hell
MOH: Airborne is one of the funnest WW2 games i've played recently
The Simpsons game actually looks good, and the Demo is fun so far
Simcity Societies actually looks like its going back to the simcity roots
Spore is just, just, well search Digg for spore
Seriously, I hate them for buying Bioware, but I can't help but think maybe it won't be so bad, maybe EA has taken a step back out of the development process and let the developers do their thing - Dylson, on 10/14/2007, -0/+3Activision, better quality games IMO.
- schoate09, on 10/14/2007, -0/+3I never heard of Cysis being so good...
- Asianwaste, on 10/13/2007, -0/+3Whoa... is that like how a spammer seeks to exploit the natural physiological response to bury certain spam or reporting certain spammers?
- pigfister, on 10/14/2007, -2/+5they both suck and constantly churn out mediocre games with ever increasing graphics ability but the games suck! then you get the movie spin off's and dam lame sequels the get worse with every release!
the industry is killing itself as small independent software houses that produce the best games have all but vanished because of profit! - Smeed, on 10/14/2007, -1/+4Activision, quality>quantity
- bigbadgoat, on 10/14/2007, -1/+4In the past year or so, I have noticed a big turn around in EA, which pleasantly surprised me. NHL 08 is the best in about 5 years, skate is just as good in terms of fun-factor as the original couple Tony Hawk Pro Skater games, I am hearing good things about the latest Madden game.
Maybe they're actually starting to listen that we're sick and tired of roster updates, and are trying to produce new, innovative, original games (skate), and are enhancing the game experience and adding new features (NHL 08). - Racerx52, on 10/15/2007, -3/+6I really hope EA doesn't ***** with my Crysis.
Good news is, Far Cry 2 is Ubisoft - completerobot, on 10/14/2007, -0/+3Maybe a company that churns out something that isn't uninspired crap?
- bagboyrebel, on 10/14/2007, -1/+3as far as I'm concerned Crysis is the real Far Cry 2. The new far cry game doesn't look anything like the first far cry, different character, different setting. It doesn't even have any mutants in it, the developers said they were going for realism.
- earthtoandy, on 10/14/2007, -0/+2You know what would be great? If we could whittle down each industry to only have one big company. It would really take away the burden of competition or choice.
- Sedako, on 10/14/2007, -0/+2I does suck when the competition results in no innovation. If trends continue, soon we'll all just be playing the same old slightly rehashed games.
- doshindude, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2I think EA and Activision's true showdown will come when Guitar Hero III and Rock Band come out.
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/14/2007, -0/+2Valve also makes pretty much only solid gold.
- duniyadnd, on 10/14/2007, -0/+2I'm surprised the article didn't emphasize the James Bond license, considering it was EA that lost the license after a bunch of mediocre releases and then given to Activision who can start releasing titles from end 2007.
- ch4os1337, on 10/14/2007, -0/+2The people who made guitar hero 1+2 are making rockband so really rockband is the true GH3
- bungoman, on 10/14/2007, -0/+2With the exception of the Tiger Woods games EA is awful and has been in my eyes ever since they bought and ruined OSI. Activision publishes some good games, but do they produce any of them?
Sheer volume of titles released does not make you king, quality does. And that's why no American or European game maker will ever be king of anything but mediocrity.
edit: I take that back, I just remembered Blizzard has released nothing but solid gold. - screwfanboys1, on 10/14/2007, -0/+1"Project 8 infused some much-needed life into the series"
you're kidding me, right? - Tactis, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1I think Activision wins because of Call of Duty 4 the game could destroy anything EA publishes this Q4
- gglynn07, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1EA = same game every year with 1 different feature, Activision = crappy games that have sub par graphics, both = steal your money b/c we are dumb enough to buy the crap they put out...bastards!!!
- Racerx52, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1Did you see the video? I`ll try to scrounge it up, It is AMAZING.

Enjoy, It really is a stunning looking game. - bigbadgoat, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1you're 1/2 right. 2 companies got together to make guitar hero, red octane and harmonix. One is making rock band, the other is making GH3
- DeepFreezed, on 10/14/2007, -0/+1What was the last time EA made a worth while game? they are pure scum
- bagboyrebel, on 10/14/2007, -0/+1I never said that Far Cry 2 didn't look good, I just don't think it's the true successor to Far Cry but should be considered a different game entirely.
- gglynn07, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1And you can download demos from Vivendi studios by logging on to BSU, yes thats Bull ***** University...don't get caught standing still....or some other crappy slogan...
- dandonia, on 10/14/2007, -0/+1It is alright for EA to do this because lets face it everyone looks forward to at least one EA game coming out every year. For me its FIFA and Tiger, they are events that i dont like to miss.
EA has really stepped up a notch anyway, TIger is an amazing game and a decent improvement, FIFA this year is lots better than last years and judging from the demo is worth its money compared to pro evo. - projektmayhem, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1I don't understand how the article pitched ET:QW over Battlefield or Call of Duty over the Orange Box and Crysis. Far more innovation coming from EA (I know, I don't know how I said it either) right now.
For Guitar Hero you have Rock Band, by the people who created Guitar Hero. EA has an answer to all of Activision's cards, but EA has more tricks up its sleeve. If something goes slightly awry it always has Madden in America and FIFA in Europe to tide it over.
Right now it feels like Activision is where EA was a year or two ago. Riding on a wave of new iterations of old games, making loads of money until people get sick of it and want change. EA recognised that and shelled out on DICE while striking deals with Valve and Cytek. Ball is in their park IMO... - gglynn07, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1THANK YOU!!!!
- masterm1nd, on 10/14/2007, -1/+2I have no interest in spore, never heard of cysis, and I don't care what the two greatest games according to digg are.
