- hummstheword, on 07/29/2008, -5/+257I wonder if they realized their creature creator could make penis monsters as well.
- mudgie, on 07/30/2008, -2/+193I got an official warning from EA for my delightful creation, "Bonersaurus":
Violation:
Inappropriate Content- Creature
< violation type : Nudity >
< Asset Name: Bonersaurus >
< Asset Creation Date: 07.05.2008 >
In essence, it was a dinosaur who walked upright, pelvis thrust forward and what appeared to be a gigantic erection and two equally large nads.
Of course it's nude, EA, it's a freakin' dinosaur! Pants weren't an option! - sockpuppets, on 07/30/2008, -1/+102Life finds a way.
- Hoogs, on 07/30/2008, -0/+96Ahh, so EA has been cracking down on the Sporn?
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -2/+89I cant wait! Finally, my penis monsters will be able to rule the galaxy!
But seriously... It's going to be hard to study next semester with all these great games just on the horizon. - inactive, on 07/30/2008, -4/+69I piddled around with the Creature Creator and made a couple 'things'. I submitted them online and almost got banned for one. lol. Banned from a game that isn't even out yet. That would be new for me. :-)
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -2/+66I'm not a gamer but can't wait to get my hands on this.
- solesoul, on 07/30/2008, -2/+58Sweet! That means I'm that much closer to being reminded that my computer sucks!
- scotto808, on 07/30/2008, -1/+51hmm...didn't think this kind of figure was possible:

- BedPost, on 07/30/2008, -0/+35Clever girl.
- tapo, on 07/30/2008, -1/+34If you don't get this quote, you lose geek points.
- Battlecry, on 07/30/2008, -0/+29Here's the skeleton creature in the screenshot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sU0jqPwJo4U - wonderbriefs, on 07/30/2008, -0/+28Seriously? You're aware of Spore and didn't know about the multitudes of penis monsters?
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -4/+32I wonder if the fundies are going to protest spore's 'evolutionary' content.
- bwdd, on 07/30/2008, -0/+24Please link.
That sounds interesting. - inactive, on 07/30/2008, -1/+25Except players create all the content, so really, it's promoting Intelligent Design. Which leads me to wonder - if we're a product of Intelligent Design, where are all the penis monsters? If Spore has taught us anything, it's that Intelligent Design leads to penis monsters, yet this world seems to be surprisingly empty of them. Then again, I suppose you have to keep in mind that we have absolutely no idea what God's genitals look like - perhaps we ARE the penis monsters.
- Thoraxes, on 07/30/2008, -0/+22I remember watching Will Wright with Robin Williams doing a demo of Spore waaaay back.
I remember seeing it for the first time too, watching as he zoomed out to show a planet, then a galaxy, then a cluster of galaxies... And then, the Universe. I had chills from the moment I saw him zoom out and show truly how massive and encompassing this game will be, and I for one, am excited.
Here's to you Will Wright and Maxis. You've without a doubt, earned my $55. (I bought the $10 CC at target with $5 off cupon.) - fredrockbluff, on 07/30/2008, -0/+20what else do you think they made it for?
- sonar1, on 07/30/2008, -1/+20you mean hopefully not, no1 wants to see a vagina with teeth
- Halsfield, on 07/30/2008, -3/+21a game so creative that the developers are surprised by the things created in it is pretty amazing. combining all the previous popular and groundbreaking sim games should make for an incredible game.
it wasnt quite clear from the article, they said they were trying to stay away from human-like features and pieces, but the picture looks very human-like. was that just the creativity of the user making it that he managed to create feet like that? or was this from an earlier build of the game where they might've been playing around with using human-like features? - MxM111, on 07/30/2008, -0/+17I just wonder, for what "things" you and almost got banned? Not for ... gasp ... penis monster one?
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -0/+17I don't think anybody will be getting much done come September 7.
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -0/+16Yeah, so the odds are low that you will actually encounter a world of penis creatures, despite the vast number that have been made.
- IronChef69, on 07/30/2008, -0/+16It looks like the skeleton of the Cloverfield monster.
- Sethbacca, on 07/30/2008, -0/+16Or Jurassic Park, take your pick :)
- quarryman, on 07/30/2008, -1/+16Don'y deny yourself the full brilliance of this game by getting it on the DS. Typical EA money grabbing, this should be PC only.
- DraxusD, on 07/30/2008, -0/+14Shooot her! Shooot her!
- DraxusD, on 07/30/2008, -0/+14roflcopter
- ZippyV, on 07/30/2008, -1/+15We need a picture.
Edit: and a video too. - matthewaaron, on 07/30/2008, -1/+15That's what she said...
- Hartley1942, on 07/30/2008, -1/+15Dugg for "Sporn".
- DewKnight, on 07/30/2008, -2/+15Cannot wait for this. The creature creator itself was awesome, but this game is going to keep me entertained forever!
- MxM111, on 07/30/2008, -0/+13The most annoying comment ever! Congrats!
- MercFox1, on 07/30/2008, -2/+15Wow, I love when the games surprise the developers, like back in 2003 when early demos of the Striders in Half Life 2 exhibited certain forms of emergent behavior in City 17 street fights, back before the game came out.
- Shaflugi, on 07/30/2008, -0/+13".. and I remember when a PSone/PS2 was so much faster than a PC"
Faster than YOUR PC maybe. PC ports always looked better and ran faster. Ever played GTA or FFVII on PC? - RedZeppelin, on 07/30/2008, -1/+14Yeah, but is the feloniously ridiculous copy-protection going to be ready in a week?
- Pittance, on 07/30/2008, -0/+13That actually might be good. That way your own world of penis monsters can at least seem original as it conquers the galaxy. Although they may never grace another computer.
- daivos, on 07/30/2008, -1/+13A week from done? I certainly would hope so. It's due out in September.
- Kragnerac, on 07/30/2008, -0/+12It's a UNIX system... I know this!
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -3/+14slow down there chief. I think the idea behind this game is really great and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Saying its the best game ever is pretty ***** stupid though. All they have let us see is how to make the creatures, we have yet to see how we will interact with them. Until i get the full get and get to play it in all its glory, I'll save the best game ever title..
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -4/+15Complete and utter win.
- MRintheKeys, on 07/30/2008, -0/+11Don't go there bro, some things can never be unseen.
- Dpack1, on 07/30/2008, -1/+12Thats the whole point, to keep tards like you from ruining other peoples games.
With a multiplayer version of spore you'd end up with an elite few that just go around unleashing planet destroying, deathstar like weapons on people still in the stone age.
The game would very quickly stagnate and die.
By keeping it massively single player you can still go around ***** up other planets that is full of content from other players, only they'll never know you destroyed their race of Penorsaurus creatures. - Hoogs, on 07/30/2008, -0/+10No.
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -1/+10I've been waiting for this game forever, and I better not be disappointed. I think the game is going to be amazing, the creature creator tool really got me used to the controls and made the release of this game much more anticipated.
- davewelsh79, on 07/30/2008, -0/+9I think he's talking about the supposed activation limit (three times) that games like Mass Effect have. Change your video card, there's another activation. Hard drive crash? Another activation. Now that you've used them up, what happens in 5 years if you want to pull out Spore again for old time's sake?
Theoretically, you call EA and they will decide "on a case-by-case basis" if you will be allowed to play the game you paid for.
I know I might format my Windows partition every 12 or 18 months, so after 3-4 years I would have to phone EA and hope they'll grant me the privilege of playing their game again. - Ducttape21, on 07/30/2008, -3/+12Of course, it's Prey!
