To help compliment this story you submited. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Of course EA is going to say this. It's just like Epic denying a PC version of Gears of War because they want people to buy the earliest version available instead of holding out.
- PoVRAZOR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Now there we go. That's the civilized way to say "I beat you to it, yet you got the diggs". No silly one word "dupe" crap posts. Gold star.
- MixMastaMetal, on 10/12/2007, -9/+25No!!! I need it on 360, I don't own a Beowulf cluster needed to run that game!
- ericrous, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19The PS3 is so powerful that to try and run a puny PC game like Crysis on it would likely either damage the game (being overwhelmed by the near-infinitely powerful Cell processor) or cause a rip in the space/time continuum. Besides, the PS3 could sell 5 million units without a single game--so why would Sony want to go to the trouble of a port?
- brendanc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8quit spamming!
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Ubisoft: "No Assassin's Creed on Xbox 360" (few weeks before announcing it's coming out on Xbox 360)
- TheThirdWheel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8and ALL spammers suck
- TheThirdWheel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This should be the end of the emotional rollercoaster. It's confirmed that they have not confirmed the confirmation that it will be ported to 360.
- DeepDoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Who cares?
It will look better on my PC anyway. (all games do) - gweedo767, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7If it runs linux and has a network interface you can make it a cluster...so, to answer your question "Yes you can have a cluster of PS3's"
- gdgi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I don't know where everyone gets all of this 'DX10 crap about Crysis - almost everything that has been publically shown of the game has been running on DirectX9.
The developers have specifically said that there will be Dx9 AND Dx10 versions of the game. There is no way that EA will make it a Vista only game - they aren't stupid, and have no vested interest in trying to force people to update their entire OS just to play a game (unlike Microsoft).
There will be an XP version of Crysis - pathy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Didn't Crytek's lead developer (I can't remember his damn name.. Yreil... something...) already say that the PC version of Crysis is NOT coming to the 360?
If there is a 360 version, it'll be like their version of Far Cry - Way after the PC release, and an almost entirely seperate game. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Let me just point this out:
It doesn't matter what any publisher (or even developer) says about the availability of any game for any platform, because history proves that they are not being truthful at least 80% of the time. The only time when it DOES matter is when the developers either specifically INSULT a particular platform (the way Kojima does with Xbox, thus negating the possibility of a MGS port) or when any part of the game or its distribution is actually owned or financed by a particular platform owner. - Providence, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I bet when the refrigerator came out, you would've complained against it because everyone else was still using Ice Chests.
- championchap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4hahaha!
I just spent £500 on a new PC, built it myself.. and it at least meets the reccomended requirements.. in some cases surpasses!
Your problem is you just arent looking anywhere other than.. iuno.. Dell and AlienWare for your PC's?
Build a custom!! - autocrawler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Just because the developers are saying this now, when they're all caught up in the DirectX 10 hype and using the same graphical effects that have existed in Xbox 360 games for over a year, doesn't mean that a better team can't optimize their code and port the game."
...What same effects? No, really? All the X360 games are coded in DX9.
Secondly, PC game development takes a lot more optimization than console development does, due to the need for scaling.
Let me remind you that while Crysis is considered to be in Alpha now, and there is much more optimization to be done, at CES, it ran at 2048x1536 in maximum detail in DX10 on, as it is rumored, a single 8800GTX. So I'd listen to what the development team has to say on the matter of portability to consoles.
Thirdly, making any compromises for a game which's hype is based solely on the quality of its graphics is stupid.
"Hell, look at Call of Duty 3 for the Wii. The graphics are nowhere close to the PC or 360 counterpart, but every single element from that game is intact. I guarantee you that the difference between PC Crysis and console Crysis will be MUCH smaller than what we saw with CoD3 on Wii."
The Wiimote is closer in functionality to Kb/M than the console controller, that is why there isn't much difference in gameplay. Again, let me remind you of Far Cry Instincts, the XBox port of Far Cry and Far Cry Predator, the X360 revamp of the aforementioned port. Neither are ANYWHERE close to the original's gameplay. Apparently due to the controls(I can't find any other explanation here), the game got turned into a linear rail shooter. So even if the graphics will remain pretty, the gameplay will suck.
Yes, I get it, there is a lot of good games on the consoles, but why the hell are people here so negative about PC exclusives? Noone complains that Dead Rising wasn't released on the PC, why is everyone complaining about Crysis remaining a PC exclusive for the time being? PC as a gaming platform needs a boost in sales too, you know. And people choose their platform for the games they like. - GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Does PS3 no longer have the ability to form a Beowulf cluster?
(Serious question, please answer. It was in a press conference...) - spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Here's your credible link: http://www.crytek.com/jobs/item.php?id=42&s=the_company&pID=4
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31. Your X360 has much more than just 'slightly inferior' graphics compared to even a mid-level PC system if that mid-level system is equipped with a DX10 videocard. Your X360 will look ass-tacular compared to a system like that.
2. For the amount that you spend or spent on your X360 you could've already upgraded your system, easily. Digging your comment down for ignorance and unfounded comments. - riplikethat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3To all console fanboys here..
a) Crysis WILL come to consoles. Even we PC gamers know that.
b) It will come and will disappear like Farcry port did. This is mostly cause unlike PC, they will have to lower the gameplay and even visual quality for the game. I know, we PC gamers have to face the same *****-ass games that are ported from consoles (Rainbow Six) and play like Quake 1 with new graphics engine (with blurry textures).
c) When it comes out for consoles, it will most likely be developed by some other developer.
EDIT: Oh and to all those geniuses who are telling console fanboys that DX10 is needed to run Crysis.. it's not. DX10 is needed to make it look prettier. Now think back to all those DX9 games you think were photo-realistic and now imagine only those games with few more bits of quality in DX10. Not to mention that majority of Crysis videos have been made on DX9 hardware. They are supporting both. - spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Battlefield 2142
Warhammer 40k
Black and White (2)
SimCity 4
And those are just some of the great ones.
And of course C&C like was mentioned. - h4mx0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well then again, crysis is also meant to show off the DX10's power, so it kinda justifies the need for a dx10 card...
- SteveMax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Blocked.
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm sure at least a couple C&Cs came out since then. They better not have come to consoles. :/
- Madcowz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I've only just upgraded to a PC capable of running Far Cry!
Will be another 5 years before I'm able to run Crysis - pathy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3STLAKER released soon...
Mmmm.... I want that game so much. I've waited so long >_ - spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just a question for everyone who says "well of course they will say that, BUT it will come out for Xbox 360" What would they have to say to actually convince you that it's not coming out for Xbox 360?
Both the lead designer, and president of Crytek have said that it's NOT coming to xbox 360 (the president is somewhat of a pc fanboy) But some artist said that the xbox 360 could probably handle it, and so everyone listened to him. Yeah it makes no sense. - xNaquada, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Welcome to 2004. Enjoy your stay. But oh please...direct all your complaints to the future.
- Gunsmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3agreed, i'm getting tired of the pc gaming scene taking a back seat to consoles. But I am disheartened that it will be published by EA
"Some companies make great games...then theres EA" - Stevethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Although being a PC gamer I actually want that game to be released in X360 because unlike the console-ports to PC which are always better than the console originals the PC-ports to consoles are actually the midget brothers of the PC versions, it will show once more how better a gaming console PC can get. Since people will start crying things like "yes but it costs a fortune", I have to say that it's still the best gaming console (also the money argument is kind of lame, since console players pay it in alternative ways like double title prices, downloadable overpriced content and much more).
- TheThirdWheel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I'm in the same boat, I don't want to overhaul my PC, and I'm not planning on going over to Vista any time soon. I might be able to run it on my current PC at 640x480 with all the options turned off...
- pathy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You don't NEED a DX10 card yet. You probably won't for a while.
When is Crysis coming out, which has been reported to run on lower end hardware quite well anyway, by the way? 3rd quater of 2007, or something?
G80s, R600, will be a lot cheaper by then - New cards will be coming out. - autocrawler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"They make more money per copy on the PC platform than the 360."
Are you joking? Developers get the same amount of money per each copy sold regardless of platform. The only difference that for the console version, the customers are forced to pay an extra $10 of licensing fees. - DeepDoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Battlefield series has several games only on PC.
There was a port of BF2, but it was nothing like the one for the PC
:-P - Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'd tend to disagree with this part of the headline for this Digg article..."even though everything points in the opposite direction", implying that supposedly there are tons of facts flying around that prove the future existence of an Xbox360 port of this amazing game. I'm sorry but the only things pointing in the opposite direction were constant rumors spawned by desperate console fanboys who suddenly realized that their much-vaunted next-gen systems weren't so special after all. The horror! Cevat Yerli, the CEO of Crytek (the devs for Crysis) has consistently and repeatedly said that this game will not be coming to consoles. I'd hardly call that 'everything pointing in the opposite direction' - it pretty clearly points that, in fact, the game, as has been said all along, is not coming to any consoles near you. Be happy with your Wii's and with Gears of War. (GoW, particularly is a great game.)
- championchap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually Wytefang.. i think Alan Wake is much better looking.
http://www.alanwake.com/ - Retuow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OMG, almost got a heartattack today: it would the first day without this breaking news! Every other day it's: "Crysis confirmed for 360!!" and "Crysis WONT be on 360"..
- autocrawler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Here's your credible link"
I wonder whether they are hiring for the console version of Crysis, or another console version of Far Cry. Or something else entirely. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2No one should have even been on that roller coaster to begin with. I can't believe how much people ate up that rumor.
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Alan Wake is pretty sharp-looking, it's the gameplay or lack thereof, that worries me. I've not seen enough of the actual way the game plays to get a feel for that game but I know that a lot of people are eager to learn more about that one, too. Good point.
- WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2rock and others: I doubt the 360 price drop with their sales flowing smoothly and the possible upgrades that could come.
- spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@ilyag
I agree with you, I was simply stating the anti-console rhetoric that Crytek was. You said that it's really not when the developer bashes a console, and Crytek has done that. - rocke86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Exactly Nobi-Wan, just like the upcoming 360 price drop. Around March is the ideal time.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sorry 50 dollars for the game 50 dollars for the unlocked features
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1EA will release it for the money remember this is the company that you'll have to pay 100$ a game to get all the extras on NFS carbon
http://www.britishgaming.co.uk/?p=1448 - Tapewormz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It won't be released for 360 for the simple reason that it doesn't have any dx10 hardware or software support. Plain and simple. Crysis is a next gen game.
- lacronicus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1not sure about you, but the x850 is still a decent card. no, its not dx10, but it would run crysis. not on high, but itd run it. aside from sm3.0 compatibility, your x850 could hold its own against the xenos. it would lose, but it would still hold its own.
- Kinsbane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I stopped wanting that game ever since EA got their grubby mitts on it.
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So you're saying that you watched the gameplay videos on 1950's TV then? (How anyone could even remotely claim that this game isn't the best-looking game that they've ever seen is beyond any rational and intelligent human being.)
