E3 2009 To Take Place in June, Opened To Public

blog.newsweek.com — Level Up has just learned that after long, bruising and politically difficult negotiations, the Entertainment Software Association is preparing to announce tomorrow that E3 2009 will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center during the first week of June--and that for the first time, E3 will officially open its doors to the public at large.

    Hopefully, people will see that the reason the doors (suddenly) remained closed was at the behest of the software/hardware giants who chose to use E3 as a way to 'purchase' media news outlets.

    The reason they choose to open now is the tightening belt around consumer wallets; trends show that people will be a hundred times more reluctant to drop cash on clever marketing campaigns. (Watch what happens to the brands you love in the coming year. Hi Apple!)

    Not the first time. E3 used to be primarily open to the public to showcase upcoming games, tech, etc. Those were the good days.. hopefully this years will match up.

I mean, it was as easy as creating a e-magazine 2 days prior to buying your tickets and you could still get in (which my friends did), but it was still not open to the public in the strictest sense of the word.
