  • C4Strife, on 07/19/2008, -11/+8My heart is till broken from FFXIII, but more I think about it the more I realize it's a good thing. Not for fanboys from either side (PS3 or 360), but for gamers. I say that because fanboys will just waste time arguing about the topic while now most of the world's gamers can now experience my favorite game series. I think that final fantasy is an amazing series and now is one that can be enjoyed by even more people.

      The only reason I was mildly sad is because I bought my PS3 for MGS4 and FFXIII, and with one of those losing exclusivity to another system I own, it became harder to justify the purchase. But I'm sure that by the end of the generation, I'll have bought enough exclusives for all 3 systems to make them worthwhile.

And why is it I have trouble believing these strangely similar comments about justifying purchase of PS3 with only MGS4 and FFXIII. I am sure if someone really owned a PS3 they might like resistance, warhawk, motorstorm, heavenly sword, ratchet & clank, GT5P, hot shots golf (addictive), folklore or at least even uncharted (imo one of the best games of this gen). That and a plethora of unique PSN titles like flow and echochrome. I can't help but smell something funny about these comments.

I'll probably get a decent amount of those you listed, but without a killer app (which for me is just MGS4 or FFXIII as of now), i couldn't see a reason to make the purchase. There's a lot of good software, just only a few games that are good enough to push me to buying the system.

        360 wasn't much better, I only bought that when GTA IV came out.

        I got my Wii at launch, though, but that was for Twilight Princess.

      • Visual77, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1I had to pick one or the other, and the 360 was cheaper, I already had a controller for it (bought it for Gears of War co-op with a good friend of mine), and I was recently playing a ton of Jade Empire and wanted to try Mass Effect.

        So when GTA IV came out and I knew I wanted it, 360 was a better choice for other reasons. Then MGS4 came out and PS3 was my only choice. Future multi platforms will require more consideration, like Fallout 3 and Resident Evil 5, but I'll end up choosing one over the other, just as I did with GTA IV.

        I bought the Wii at launch for Twilight Princess. When GTA IV came out, I chose 360, and then bought a PS3 when MGS4 was released. So no, I didn't have a PS3 at the time I bought GTA IV.

    Here's the thing: There were some amazing games at E3 this year. The trouble is... we already knew about them. There were a few new videos of gameplay and whatnot, but other than that, no big surprises. Oh well.

      While there some nice videos shown. IT could have all being done with out the trade show. Is there really any point of E3 any more. it looked like nintendo and sony were holding out their Trade show in japan. at least sony made an effort to make the sales speech less borning.

The people behind the Sonic franchise forgot that it was originally fun because it was an outstanding platformer, not because it had gimmicky speed. Mirror's Edge at least carries on platforming fun, even if it's at an unorthodox first-person view.

    Does Resi 5 have co-op? I'm sure i saw a video of both male and female characters fighting zombies. Its either terrible AI or multiplayer.
    Could be very interesting if it does. left 4 dead style.

    Also i now truley belive that i have killed more nazi troops by myself over the years in gaming than were in the actual war. less of the WW2 games please.

It's a big deal because there are hardly no explicitly co-op online 4-player multiplayer games, let alone with a survival horror theme. Throw in the AI director that makes it a unique experience every time, and it's definitely an innovative game.

While playing your games I skip the pre-rendered portions 99% of the time, unless you rudely choose not to give me that option. A game trailer consisting of 90% pre-rendered footage does not impress me, but instead makes me think that you're trying to hide something by not showing the actual game. In the future, if you're previewing a game, please preview the game itself and not some pre-rendered ***** which does not accurately represent either the gameplay or the graphics, and is in fact designed to make the product look better than it actually is. Thank You.

      God of war, God of war 2, all the final fantasy's, fable, halo 2, NG2, DM...... why don't you just decide based off of a devs history and leave the cgi teasers for what they really are. Announcements. They are hiding stuff when they don't show a game..... that is if they have a plot. And nine times out of 10 when a teaser is being shown they want to keep as much of the game secret because it is not complete and is subject to change.

      If you took the CGI intro of any of these games as a representation of final product the onus of the stupidity is on you.

  • ut2k4king, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Personally I thought that the PS3 looked promising, as did the 360. The only console I think I'm truly dissatisfied with was the Wii. I feel like Nintendo's been continuing to alienate he fans that stuck by them with the Wii. Maybe I'm being an "elitist" but I don't think that any company can stretch itself that thin between casual minigames and the "serious" games that it was lauded for. At some point they're going to have to choose and... well look at what brings in the most money.

Obviously they're not going to come out and say, "We're shafting hardcore gamers", but their press conference certainly spoke for itself. What do we expect? When surveys and sales demonstrate that mass Wii consumers want "social gaming", games like Zelda won't be in great abundance.
