Never plaid "Ticket to Ride" have you? - WitNit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+46@ billyboob34 - So let me get this straight...this doesn't interest you and yet you felt the need to click on the "comments" link and tells us that. Wow...thanks for the insightful contribution.
/sarcasm - Fluidity, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6Idiot.

- Mrstupid7, on 10/12/2007, -42/+4It's a dupe
- ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -21/+8no, it's a trap!
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8attack the weak spot for massive damage.
- android8675, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9It is a dupe, BUT it is worth posting more than once. Walk around Best Buy software isle and check out all the "Tycoon" type games, this is the first (well that's what they say), and while the genre has come a long way, it's always good to make sure we remember our roots.
Sid Meyers is one of my top 5 favorite game guru's, mainly for games like RR Tycoon, SimGolf, Alpha Centauri, etc.
That said, I will say that I'm so glad Tycoon games have improved so much over time, if you download this and think, too complicated or oh god DOS graphics?! Go get the updated Railroads, it's pretty, fun to play, easy to learn, difficult to master.
[/brownose][/flattery][/salepitch] - Rayonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The RollerCoaster Tycoon series is awesome too, and pretty much revitalized the genre. I highly recommend everyone pick up RCT3 and give it a whirl. Just make sure to either patch it or install one of the expansion packs, since it shipped with a couple cheesy bugs.
- SamKellett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dude, android, how could you not mention Civilization and Pirates!?!
- GamingTrend, on 10/12/2007, -36/+3Welcome to last week.
- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29And yet, I didn't see it last week, so I am quite happy to see it today.
- BrainInAJar, on 10/12/2007, -19/+1Wintendo only.
lame. I'm not putting that crap on my computer just to play a game...- baugles, on 10/12/2007, -14/+0Then just download a version from usenet. Since they're making it free anyway, it won't be illegal.
- halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10What, Wine too hard to install????
Of if you're a Mac user, Crossover's complex "Open DMG, drag to application folder" similarly too difficult? - tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Forget Wine! Just get DoxBox for Linux. Extract the self installer using a universal extractor for Linux, and you are all set!
It comes bundled with DosBox for Windows, but that does not mean anything, you can just delete the windows stuff and use it in Linux with Linux DosBox!
- tuteken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Great Find!
- tonyhartfield, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13there goes my afternoon
- Suspected, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Is the game good?
- android8675, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well not by todays standards, it is a DOS based game running in a DOSBox emulator, but if you're into old skool games you should check it out. If you're even remotely interested, but find the interface not too your liking, consider the updated version. It's really fun.

- gardnmi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Sid Meiers games will suck your social life dry.
- OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -13/+6"Download Railroad Tycoon for Free"
As if I couldn't do that before. All the people who were interested in it already have it! - n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I always preferred Transport Tycoon Deluxe. There is even an open source version...
http://www.openttd.org/- tydev417, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And there's also the newer version of Transport Tycoon called Chris Sawyer's Locomotion.
- MrSunshine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A similar game is Simutrans:
http://www.simutrans.org/ - trib4lmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3OpenTTD is great. I've wasted many days on it over the past few years.
- Couchy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1TTD was one game I played for a loooooong time. So much fun :D
- miket, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4railroad tycoon was/is so much fun! and PopTop did an awsome job with RRT2 and RRT3.....but Railroads is HORRIBLE! the way it handles routing sucks, theres alot of major memory leaks (ive had it sap 1.5gb in a multi, everyone was getting 2.5FPS at times). Not one of Sid's better releases...
- Whoeverxxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I love Sid Meier's games! Don't know if I could drag myself back to playing an old game like Railroad Tycoon that'll show it's aging, I remember it was complicated unlike the new Railroads game which is very simple to play. My only gripe about the new game is that the single player mode is way too easy.
- PabloIV, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It's really funny reading the manual which was written 16-17 years ago, before there was lingo for all the regular functions. They call Right clicking "pressing Selector1" It makes the manual feel more "Olde Timee" than the 19th century trains in the game.
I love it! - garethjax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sweeet! i just hope it works on my Old PC!
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5This is a dupe.

- andyperfect, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Good deal! This was my favorite game when I was little (Still have the trains memorized for the little test at the beginning). I have the original floppy this game came on and tried to play it the other day, but could not get it to work for the life of me. Thanks a bunch for posting this!
- spikepeck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Download has been dugg away.
- dJCL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Had this downloaded on my linux box for about a week. Just got xp booting of my external usb drive, so decided to give this a try(used to love the game). Worked great and I stayed up till about 3am playing it...
Random cheat code: press F1 to go to the overview map - and then press Shift - 4 (or $) to get $500 000. Warning, profits max out at 28Mil and the total max is about 32Mil. But sometimes its just fun to build your entire railroad before the competition even starts(and be able to afford to draw circles around them) - jayhawk88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh hell yes. Now hopefully I can get this working on my XP machine without having to resort to DOSBox or something like that.
