- djcopey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8all it needs is the prx removing and it's legal, but now Sony have done this it has publicized it to people who didn't know about it so in effect it has worsened for Sony
- Fast240Z, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It'd be as simple as making people look for the prx files elsewhere, that way booster wouldn't be at fault for offering them.
- haelios, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Exactly. Sony have shot themselves in the foot here... All we need is an article someplace like the BBC and DevHook will become a whole lot more publicly known.
- MasterQ, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9All he has to do is remove the copyrighted prx and re-upload it... no biggie. Sony just wants to do as much damage as it can to Devhook (and they cant do much :P) because it pwnz them.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14erm..PSPUpdates doesn't give extra cash to bloggers if their article appear on Digg. I would know, I am one; and the article here in question is mine. I didn't get paid anything extra. Plus no other site had an article regarding this, we were the first.
Secondly, how did we steal news here? It was linked to 0okm's article, which was the main news source. If we simplify the technical details for everyone, we're suddenly a news stealing scumbag?
Thirdly, blade, is that you? PSPCave? Go back into your cave! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6atleast QJ doesnt fake downgraders ;)
- Mystikal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5After time...of course.
- ionbattle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'll digg your comment if that is a homestar runner reference.
- bobothn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4bittorrent anyone?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+17Agreed 100%. But I think they have people here to mod us down.
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"apparently using a sony prx in v.43 Booster (devhook creator) is now looking for a new site to host files on."
Um, what? I have a feeling there's some punctuation missing there... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@jbarket:
For someone like myself, whose newest console system is the Sega Dreamcast, playing all these games you write off as rehashes on my PSP is new and enjoyable for me, having never played any of the original games that these have been 'rehashed' from.
Like everything, it's different things to different people. I'm not saying that you're wrong that these are all rehashes, but what I'm saying is that that's not necessarily a bad thing for everyone. - johnsto, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10They also have a HORRIBLE news tagging system. See a news article with a link on the word "devhook site"? It doesn't go to the devhook site, merely directs you to another page on pspupdates showing news tagged "devhook". EVERY SINGLE LINK in their news posts keep you on their site. Horrible horrible horrible and that's why so Google rank punishes it for link spamming. You have to go to the very bottom of each news article, and maybe there'll be a link to the actual site you want.
They also once had a 3 paragraph news article about a new Lua program that let you move a dot around on the screen, and displayed the coordinates. Amazing coding skill there.
That said, they have VERY regular news updates which is why I still use it. - roc69x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Devhook is at v.46 now. The just remove the .43 fix wich has the copyrighted Sony file. Devhook can play just about every game released even recently (tekken) with no problems. Booster and DarkAlex beat you Sony, release any firmware and they will downgrade it and then crack it for everybody to use.
- timmage89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4There are many decent psp games out now: Tekken, Loco Roco, Lumines, Wipeout Pure, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Daxter, GTA, and many more....
- joshman5k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4it was a fix, that wasn't done by booster... no biggie. sony went by this well.. they didn't sue, just asked for it to be taken down.
- musters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3through bittorrent and edonkey, you'll always be able to find your stuff, regardless if no websites host it.
- XdigitalXdeathX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Yeah, Blade is from PSPCave, a place that not only steals from PSPUpdates from time to time, but also steals from PSPCrazy .. ALL the time.
- HanSolo69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Time to bust out the ol' puncuation repair kit...
- Mystikal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It will still get out....somehow.
- LEDDY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2true!!!
- monergism, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11This summary made sense to a very very small population. Undugg.
- Joe_rigby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Doesn't google host projects now? I didn't read the article, but just wondering.
- beverage, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6So? It's still big news for us that love our PSP! This is a sad moment for all who enjoy homebrew!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+13PSPUpdates give their "bloggers" a cash bonus for posts that make it to the digg homepage. I ALWAYS bury anything from there as spam. It's stupid and it goes against the nature of digg.
- spoodie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Homebrew (read emulation) is mostly what I use my PSP for, it's Loco Roco or rehashes on UMD.
- gard1892, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Do you think this is really from Sony or is it possible that development will stop because it could cut in to modchip sales. If you can run custom firmware on devhook for free, why would anyone buy a mod chip for the psp and risk bricking their PSP. What are the advantages of the modchip over devhook? Just something to think about.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Devhook's not going to save you if your PSP is bricked and flash is heaps faster than the memstick, bring on the modchip!1
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3That's a shame. It seems to me that homebrew is the only way PSP will get some decent games.
- beverage, on 10/12/2007, -13/+13How can you say that? PSPUpdates steals nothing. They have people on their forums who post news and homebrew 24/7 and then they post about that on their main page. As for linking to news off site, they can if they want! I only go to PSPUpdates because I trust them to keep my system from bricking! I will not go anywhere else, so if the news is on another website, how do I get it? How does digg get news? Other websites! Jeez people...
- mag1c1an, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Worse comes to worse...dont upgrade DevHook....I am still on .41 and everything works fine and dandy.
If our developer heroes do get thrown off their hosting.... as many have pointed out, BitTorrent and a host of others will pick up the slack without a problem, thepiratebay may get a few more threats though ;) - FreePlayPSP, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Nice stupid Digg report, kiddo. Not only did Booster not release this file, but Sony wasn't even going after him. They went after his hosting site. This means *absolutely nothing* for the further development of Devhook. Way to go, QJ panic generation machine!
- beverage, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5DELETED
- jbarket, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1And just how many of those games are ports or sequels? I tried really hard to be a PSP fanboy from the day I picked mine up, but the truth is that the games out for it are just rehashes. Utter disappointment.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2BALEETED! ...um
DELTEATED! No?
DELTACO? - caboose1g, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Thats unfair :(
I do hope that Booster can find another way to continue with devhook and put it somewhere..
Why didnt sony do anything about the ISO loaders and ISOs? - Simen, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1"blablablabla...Sony...blablabla"
Which actually made me feel better.
I'll check out the "Amazing Air Jordan Dunk Video" next. - blade47167, on 10/12/2007, -29/+20Ban PSPUpdates. They are news stealing scum.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2Good riddance to bad rubbish.
- Al2x, on 10/12/2007, -17/+2Blade? It sounds like your from PSPCave. PSPUpdates steals NOTHING.
