- Cadenzah, on 08/06/2008, -0/+63Holy ***** there's a new Deus Ex being developed? The original is one of the best games ever.
- dagnabbit, on 08/06/2008, -0/+56You mechs may have copper wiring to re-route your fear of pain, but I've got nerves of steel.
-JC Denton - prunch, on 08/05/2008, -0/+42By The Beard Of Zeus!
Wow if its the real McCoy! - onwardknave, on 08/06/2008, -1/+40Please, Eidos, just retcon DX2 and rehire some of the original writers from DX1 like Sheldon Pacotti and Austin Grossman, and get some input from Warren Spector, and NOT Harvey Smith. Part of what made the original so much better was the research into real conspiracies, the educational background of the writers, and the philosophical references throughout the game. Please, please, please don't dumb-down this game.
- magic6435, on 08/06/2008, -1/+35I know im still waiting for Deus Ex 2. i don't know what that crap they tried to peddle of on us was but it sure as ***** was not Deus Ex 2. Watered down story, controls, game play, dialogue and appearance for the console players.
- goblindegook, on 08/06/2008, -1/+30"There already was a second"
Not in my heart there wasn't. - BlackKnight6, on 08/06/2008, -0/+27A grenade is a bad choice for close-range combat.
-JC Denton - nimski, on 08/05/2008, -0/+25It looks strikingly familiar to one of the lab scenes in Deus Ex 2 doesn't it?
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 08/06/2008, -0/+24Anyone notice how Duke Nukem fell back off the radar?
- darthgoat, on 08/06/2008, -0/+23Everytime you mention Deus Ex, someone reinstalls it.
- Joudoki, on 08/06/2008, -6/+28Wait what.. I thought we were still waiting on Deus Ex 2?
- BugMeNot2, on 08/06/2008, -1/+16Play Deus Ex 1 but don't play Deus Ex: Invisible War.
- jsdratm, on 08/06/2008, -0/+15You will behave like a professional! That's an order! BTW JC, stay out of the women's restroom.
- Jhiaxuz, on 08/06/2008, -0/+143. Remember what happened to Deus Ex 2.
- LiberalKid, on 08/06/2008, -1/+13I refuse to acknowledge the existence of any currently released game that has followed Deus Ex, thus I find it strange this game is titled Deus Ex 3 and not 2.
- Terr01, on 08/06/2008, -0/+10Amen.
- Terr01, on 08/06/2008, -2/+12Terrorism has become an unfortunate fact of life not only in New York but the
country at large, a direct assault on our communities and our way of life that
leaves citizens struggling to find answers to difficult questions, not the least
of which is "What can I do to prevent such atrocities? How can I help?"
Quite simply, terrorism is successful because terrorists are able to pass
unnoticed and unremarked upon - but they fail to count on the best intelligence
network ever devised: the American people. How can you tell who might be a
terrorist? Look for the following characteristics:
* A stranger or foreigner.
* Argumentative, especially about politics or philosophy.
* Probing questions about your work, particularly high-tech.
* Spends a greater than average amount of time on the Net.
* Interests in chemistry, electronics, or computers.
* Large numbers of mail-order deliveries.
* Taking photographs of major landmarks.
And those are just a few. If you're suspicious, then turn them in to your local
law enforcement for a thorough background check. Better safe than sorry. You
and your neighbors will sleep more securely knowing that you're watching each
other's back. - Neoanarchist, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8@ Goblindegook
A-*****-men, the second one was so dumbed down for consoles I didn't even consider it the same franchise. - onwardknave, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8I hope you mean retcon, and not recap. DX2 was watered down for the consoles and its plot was a bland fusion of the original game's endings, with dubious aggrandizement of secondary characters from the original like Nicolette and Chad, if for no other reason than to justify the "Deus Ex" name on the box.
http://www.penny-arcade.com/images/2000/20000705h. ... - Cimlite, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7The original Deus Ex is available for free at Gametap, only a 150mb download even:
http://www.gametap.com/play/gameDetails/000459050
It looks really dated but gameplay is still as fantastic as back in the day. - lolwutpear, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7this picture is a couple months old. let's just hope the third game ends up being more like the first one than the second. i'll probably play it anyway (computer hardware permitting).
- japface, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7you are someone that speaks of sensible acts
- BlackKnight6, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7http://www.deusex3.com/
Nothing exciting, I remember visiting this site I think almost a year ago. - nickwsmith, on 08/06/2008, -1/+7don't normally say this but... OMG
- MasterGrief, on 08/06/2008, -1/+7I played that game about two years ago, and my PC handled it fine. I quite liked it, as well.
- goblindegook, on 08/06/2008, -1/+61. It's concept art.
2. It's been around since April: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008/04/05/first-d ... - LiberalKid, on 08/06/2008, -1/+6You could never finish one of the most original and inventive fps games ever made!?!??!?!
P.S. It was so inventive it was almost an rpg... - Lane, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5hmm, I'd take anything with deus ex in it again but still hope it's not a prequel
- Fortyseven, on 08/07/2008, -0/+4Duke who?
- Kale27, on 08/06/2008, -1/+5Call me when it's on the shelf.
- staffell, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4Yeah, that's pretty good...
- ortucis, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3That's odd then. I remember reading his development blog when DX: IW was released (I am pretty sure it was on IGN and by Warren) where he was praising IW's new GUI and specifically stated that the old inventory system from the first game was development teams idea and he preffered (and wanted) IW system in first game itself.
He couldn't stop praising console and talking about how h love playing FPS games with gamepad vs keyboard/mouse combo on PC. As far as I remember, Spector was the designer in the team and he was the guy behind new interface. His 'back seat' was only for the gameplay end. - SirFragsMore, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_Ex:_Invisible_Wa ...
- str3ama, on 08/06/2008, -2/+5I was never able to finish the first one, it made me slightly ill. I tried playing the 2nd one and noticed they had ripped out most of what made the first one so entertaining. So I threw some boxes and cans around before uninstalling it (remember this was before half life 2 and it's awesome physic engine.)
- japface, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3he isn't. he created junction point studios after ion storm died. junction point was working on something using source, but nothing has been heard since of that project (probably got canned) and they were bought out by disney. the latest thing he has been working on at junction point is creating a game that is related to a new pixar movie. last interview he gave, he seemed to be tired of making games that had "guys wearing trench coats." but he has mentioned several times that he would like to at some point return to the deus ex series.
- ortucis, on 08/06/2008, -3/+6DeusEx fans, don't get too excited. Remember that it is coming for consoles as well.
On the plus side, Warren Spector is not involved in the development at all to turn it into a pile of ***** like DX2 (console friendly features, ESPECIALLY the interface from DX2 were his ideas) so chances are that the developers will take a hard look at PC friendly DeusEx and not add 'retardation' as a feature like they did with DX2 thanks to consoles. - Labyrinth336, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3THE MOON!
- Radan, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3Well, artwork doesn't say much, the game could be in 2D for all we know. However, since the first game is imo one of the best games ever made if this game doesn't at least drop kick the player unconscious out of over-awsomeness someone will have their thumbs broken off.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Very good. Conspiracy = REAL
- LMN8R, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2Everything demonstrated in screenshots for Crysis is possible - and more importantly, playble - within the final game. Crytek toned down a lot of the more flashy effects for their High/Very High config settings from those first screenshots, simply because they negatively affect gameplay. Enemies are more difficult to see, etc.
However, look online for any number of custom configurations people have made by simply editing settings file parameters, and you can easily make the game look as good as, if not better than, the initial screenshots, without negatively impacting performance.
This Deus Ex screen, on the other hand, gives no reason to believe that it's even remotely in-game. Especially considering the memory limitations of the current consoles, I'll believe it when I see it. - Labyrinth336, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2knew
- kolyana, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3Deus Ex was a seriously great game, Deus Ex 2 was a severe disappointment. Anyone have any idea how #3 is shaping up?
- kolinkoolface2, on 08/06/2008, -2/+4i never really got into this series, but i just might have to after seeing this.
- Step1Mark, on 08/06/2008, -4/+6Maybe they will do a recap to Deus Ex 2 for the ones that new better than to play that game. ;)
- Appleboi4evr, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2here's a teaser trailer for Deus Ex 3 released back in november 26, 2007
http://kotaku.com/gaming/trailer/deus-ex-3-teaser- ...
Edit: nvm i see BlackKnight put up a link to a site with the trailer. - atruskot, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2I might be wrong here, but I could swear that Warren Spector was going to be working on this project???
Can somebody confirm this? - malibusurf, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2Erm i seem to remember Spector not having much input on DX2 and THAT was the reason it sucked. Warren Spector is a champion of awesome games. I gotta agree that they should design it primarily around the PC then develop separate dumbed down versions for the consoles.
- ozroy, on 08/06/2008, -2/+3Warren Spector wasn't really involved in the second one either. He took a back seat and left most of it to Harvey Smith.
Warren Spector is the guy who made the first one so Great! - unrealmp3, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2Looks like the new Deus Ex is made in Montreal, I gotta try to visit Eidos then :D
- eelwrolyat, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Wow. I had recently forgot about this and now it has gotten me anxious again. Is this going to be for the 360 as well?
