Destructoid - Changes Name in... Honor? Of Gerstmann Incident
cashwh0re.com — Destructoid is really laying it on thick now. Check out their new banner and URL.
- 1851 diggs
- digg it
- Bigg3h, on 12/02/2007, -7/+73LOL, what happens if this all turns out not to be true? Then again if it is... I hope they fall in a ditch.
- charlescheese, on 12/02/2007, -10/+16If it weren't true, we would have heard SOMETHING from Gamespot on this. They wouldn't let this big festering zit sit on their face for days and days if it were not true. Also, I'm guessing that the other reviewers etc in the gaming business who protested in front of cnet might actually know what really happened. I highly doubt the story is not true.
- ricree, on 12/02/2007, -0/+13If it's not true, then I'd really love to know why they pulled the video review at roughly the same time that they fired him.
- dn11, on 12/02/2007, -0/+16I think the facts are pretty obvious at this point - and regardless, it's true that Gamespot has gone crazy overboard with their advertising.
- se1zure, on 12/02/2007, -1/+1tehre is always teh possibility that he was fired for other reasons...
- Tilon, on 12/02/2007, -2/+1Yep, there's always the possibility of anything.
This irrefutable doubt is called 'plausible deniability' and how those with power get away with *****.
Stop being a sheep. Baaa.- RpgActioN, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2You're calling somebody a sheep for wanting to wait until the facts are in to judge a situation? Pot calling the kettle black much?
- Tilon, on 12/02/2007, -2/+1Yep, there's always the possibility of anything.
- Edrick, on 12/02/2007, -46/+7This would be funnier if Dtoid had any journalistic integrity in the first place.
- bmdubya, on 12/02/2007, -9/+26More than Gamespot, at least Dtoid's reviews aren't paid for. But than again, every Digg user hates Dtoid because of that stupid digging thing. Oh well, I'll get dugg down for this, but I am a Dtoid member, and it is one of the only places I get my gaming news.
- Edrick, on 12/02/2007, -5/+9Oh diggers, your loyalties change so quick. What rascals you guys are.
- getrdone656, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3Indeed we are quite the bunch
- Ozzy73, on 12/02/2007, -2/+45I love the banner!
- AdmiralZombie, on 12/02/2007, -12/+3It would be funny if gamespot tried to sue them for copyright infringement, for use of similar styles.
- benitojuarez, on 12/02/2007, -0/+17if anything it would be trademark infringement, not copyright, anyway destructiod is covered under fair use as its a parody of any supposed material.
- eyefone, on 12/02/2007, -2/+95That is ***** awesome.
- pictureDIGGER, on 12/02/2007, -14/+6Probably because their URL is on a lot of diggers bury lists.
http://digg.com/gaming_news/Dear_Digg_Please_Do_So ...- TMac08, on 12/02/2007, -1/+6Destructoid stopped that a few months ago.
- dark1587, on 12/02/2007, -20/+7Have I been living under a rock?
What is the Gertsmann Incident?- Ozzy73, on 12/02/2007, -0/+10http://gaming.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=1057 ...
http://kotaku.com/gaming/rumor/alleged-gamespot-em ...
Read those two articles
- Ozzy73, on 12/02/2007, -0/+10http://gaming.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=1057 ...
- MrBabyMan, on 12/02/2007, -16/+32Oh, snap! Oh no they di-int!
- thecanadiangeek, on 12/02/2007, -0/+9Is Molly using her husband's account?
- Dested, on 12/02/2007, -0/+19YES HE DID, I JUST SAW THEM.
- neiltc13, on 12/02/2007, -12/+21To be honest this is all going a bit far considering neither Gamespot nor Jeff Gerstmann have commented on what actually happened.
- Tahiri, on 12/02/2007, -0/+26Jeff Gerstmann isn't allowed to legally. So....
- dyranios2, on 12/02/2007, -10/+1He should "anonymously" tell a media outlet, the no one could prove where the leak came from....legally so it's certainly a possibility.
- Jeffler, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7But then we'd all call it ***** since its anonymous.
- neiltc13, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1So... jumping to conclusions is not a good idea.
- dyranios2, on 12/02/2007, -10/+1He should "anonymously" tell a media outlet, the no one could prove where the leak came from....legally so it's certainly a possibility.
- Tahiri, on 12/02/2007, -0/+26Jeff Gerstmann isn't allowed to legally. So....
- jeremymccurdy, on 12/02/2007, -5/+113I don't like Destructoid, but I really gotta hand it to them for this one, pretty damned funny.
- Nick22, on 12/02/2007, -0/+8My thoughts exactly
- MackPrime, on 12/02/2007, -2/+38say what you will about D-Toid (blogspam or what have you) but they have mucho cajones
- docrates, on 12/02/2007, -1/+10It's Cojones, which means testicles in Spanish.
Cajones means "drawers".
Either way, they definitely have balls.- Vorsic, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2Maybe they do have mucho drawers
- docrates, on 12/02/2007, -1/+10It's Cojones, which means testicles in Spanish.
- Flakor, on 12/02/2007, -1/+104This is awesome.
"Buy this Site with Huge Ads and get a free 9/10!"
Hooray for Corparations- kutateli, on 12/02/2007, -0/+26I love how the 6 flips into a 9! lol!
- sb76117, on 12/02/2007, -11/+8after reading gamespots gaming myth's article praising sony in every post, i never will visit their site again. not that i ever did in the first place.
- Mearn, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7That was GamePro.
- DwightSchruter, on 12/02/2007, -8/+1They SHRUTED this badly, eh gamespot?
- Madr0xcide, on 12/02/2007, -1/+13HAHAHA that is hilarious and awesome of them to make.
- 5555, on 12/02/2007, -17/+3If it were any other site doing this, I'd say it's hilarious. However, this is just Destructoid jumping on the 'hate Gamespot' bandwagon in an attempt to bring traffic to their site just like when they game Digg. So who is really the cashwh0re?
- headlessclown, on 12/02/2007, -2/+6they reported the incident before it had as much steam as it does now.
- MistaSparkle, on 12/02/2007, -1/+3Still Gamespot.
- namelessted, on 12/03/2007, -0/+15555, do you have any idea what you are talking about in this case? You probably don't. I don't even want to get started on the whole dtoid "games" digg and they are traffic whores, it a bunch of bollocks.
- naonao, on 12/02/2007, -4/+7As funny as this is, anyone think Gamespot is going to recover from this? I mean, they'll have to do something within the next day before there's a mass exodus of forum members. And I've had a look at the insanity of the forums recently, mod-edit central over there.
- Mearn, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3The forums always look like that.
- Arramol, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4They'll be able to survive on sheer size because they'll still be large even after a mass exodus of readers, but it's going to hurt them
- BearinG, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Maybe we'll get better alternatives though or people migrating to other places and helping other better sources to grow..
- KraigR, on 12/02/2007, -11/+4this is retarded
- DavidGX, on 12/02/2007, -3/+2NO U R
- hannark, on 12/02/2007, -1/+35Oh man destructoid you troublemakers, always too cool to play by the rules.
- Ch3n3yTh3D1ck, on 12/02/2007, -10/+9***** hilarious. only destructoid realizes gamers are older than 16 and actually think for themselves
- SweetChinMusic, on 12/02/2007, -2/+7I LOVE this. The banner animation is pretty funny.
- wilf_brim, on 12/02/2007, -2/+11Funniest thing I have seen on Digg in months. Cashwh0re. Love it. Also, check the "help wanted" box in the upper right.
- schavira, on 12/02/2007, -11/+7Seriously, how long has it taken all of you to realize that this is how mainstream entertainment reviewing works? Do you actually think Halo could have managed to make it if Microsoft hadn't paid off Ziff Davis/IGN/Gamespot/etc? Do you actually think Roger Ebert honestly hands out rave reviews to every ***** Disney movie? Don't trust ANY corporate reviewers, regardless of the media. Their articles are as trustworthy as CNN's evidence to why SiCKO is inaccurate.
- GeneralGore, on 12/02/2007, -2/+24Dugg for "dial 0-INT-GRTY".
- Hetman, on 12/02/2007, -2/+2This is pretty funny. And on a side note ninja vs pirates looks like it is going to be a fun xbl game.
- Books, on 12/02/2007, -1/+12I really support all these actions against GameSpot's lame ass decisions. However, wouldn't it be ***** hilarious if...
"The reason we fired Jeff was because he was embezzling money out of the CNET bank accounts. It was a 18 month operation he had going..."
Seriously though, go Destru...Cashwh0re.com! - AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -9/+3This is getting way out of hand...
- colobikeguy, on 12/02/2007, -2/+1i have to admit that i thought i was on gamespot for about two minutes before i started reading... i am way out of the loop.
- withears, on 12/02/2007, -22/+2Buried because it mentions Destructoid.
- withears, on 12/03/2007, -2/+1Come on Destructards, Digg me down some more! Show YOURSELVES!!!
- fatadamblog, on 12/02/2007, -8/+6Looks like Desturctoid is back on Digg :D Horay!
- DavidGX, on 12/02/2007, -2/+7This is probably the best thing I've seen all week. Fricken awesome. ***** gamespot.
- kbned, on 12/02/2007, -4/+22MB for the main page? These guys may have more honest reviews but their page sucks about as much as gamespot's.
- bloodninja, on 12/02/2007, -2/+3Too funny, solid effort destructiod!
- Tempest261, on 12/02/2007, -4/+8Awesome. I typically think that Destructioid is too dorky even for me, but this is great.
- wafflesomd, on 12/02/2007, -1/+3Lol.
This is just too funny. - Agreb91, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4Amazing. I love how we all have come together for this incident
- ilpasetto, on 12/02/2007, -1/+0haha wow!
- se1zure, on 12/02/2007, -11/+8destructoid, of all sites, should shut their ***** mouths in this case? Who are they to make fun of the integrity of another site, when they, themselves, have been found to use dishonest methods for traffic (digging own stories tons of times for tons of frontpages)
- withears, on 12/02/2007, -3/+3Agree with this poast.
- namelessted, on 12/03/2007, -1/+4do you have any ***** clue what you are talking about? my guess is no, so you should shut your ***** mouth in this case.
- redthirteen, on 12/02/2007, -1/+2I like it...
- AngelsDontBurn, on 12/02/2007, -2/+8Dugg because I love them. People have no idea how awesome the Dtoid army & staff are.
Lawl @ whiners.- tehuberone, on 12/02/2007, -2/+3Dugg because I love them. People have no idea how awesome the Dtoid army & staff are.
Lawl @ whiners.
- tehuberone, on 12/02/2007, -2/+3Dugg because I love them. People have no idea how awesome the Dtoid army & staff are.
- Synthesize, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1That's ***** badass.
- Supermoose37, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3These guys have balls
Unlike Gamespot - jonr1, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1I see what they did there.
- DestructoCRO, on 12/02/2007, -1/+1Destructoid did a good job mocking Gamespot.
Maybe in the future they will objectivly review games and not do the marketing for the game publisher.. - Topher06, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1Awesome, although I still can't believe it took this long for people to see the light.
- ubergeek09, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1That's awesome. Gamespot has been owned.
- withears, on 12/02/2007, -7/+2Digging down every post that mentions Destructoid. Sorry, has to be done.
- namelessted, on 12/03/2007, -0/+2you are a fag
- lolo2007, on 01/17/2008, -0/+0Funniest thing I have seen on Digg in months. Cashwh0re. Love it. Also, check the "help wanted" box in the upper right http://game.paramegsoft.com/
http://www.paramegsoft.com/forum/ - Cyberxion, on 02/27/2008, -0/+0I know this is awhile after the fact, and I know I'll be railed for this since I just signed up, but some of you guys are the biggest douche-bags on the entire planet. "Buried for mentioning Destructoid"? C'mon you little pansies, bury stuff for being crap. Don't bury it because you have no personal integrity to speak of.
Seriously guys, you want Digg to work the way it's supposed to? Don't be tools. It's really that easy. Personal agendas have no place in the scheme of things. Jeez...
Digg is coming to a city (and computer) near you! Check out all the details on our
