- Firemeboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Finally, we can do disco in DDR.
- Micrll, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17I personally like the J-pop music but to each his own.
- briando, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I'm a big DDR fan, so upon purchasing my Wii, not being able to play any new DDRs at home was my greatest regret. This story just made my day.
- Br0wn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Now we get to do the Thriller dance!
waiting on Guitar Hero - iam413x, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Yeah, it seems like it could be good. When they tried to use hand movements on the PS2 it didn't pan out well, but hopefully the Wiimote can do better.
I just hope that it uses a wireless attachement from the wiimote to the dance pad. Hopefully they will try to make it specifically for the Wii instead of just the same game I've almost gotten tired of...almost. - Bossman1086, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The DDR pad is going to plug into the gamecube ports on the top of the unit. That's good, you'll be able to have 4 pads plugged in and 4 wii remotes in use at once.
- Ironman11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5NikoKun, had you actually read the article, you would know that they ARE using the dance pad in the GCN ports and the Wiimote/Nunchuk for extra hand movements.
- Bossman1086, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Er...oops...I accidentally posted Sonic trailers and it was too late to edit...here's the DDR ones: http://media.wii.ign.com/media/882/882328/vids_1.html
- Micrll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3From the sounds of it using the gamecube ports you could probably get an adapter like this http://store.videogamecentral.com/unps2coadxor.html that would probably work with it.
- lmho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think it was a mistake to add the nunchuck. The wiimote itself would give the game a better range of motion. The other hand can naturally add flair to the moves, but it restricts motion to have both the wiimote and nunchuck. Wonder if they thought about this?
- DDRSkata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As much as I like DDR, I think this is a terrible idea. There's no need to include the Wiimote in this, and it seems like they're just doing it because it's there.
- orph3us, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3you play the game by jumping on the controller ;)
- Amadeus2490, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Aladdin's Castle in Rolling Acres mall had a D-tech. I'm not sure hoq popular the variation was of DDR, but it had a 4 way sensor on top of the "dance floor," and you had to step, as well as point your arms in the directions of the arrows. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to do pretty much the same thing with the wiimote.
Fun Fact: Mozilla Spell Checker suggests changing "wiimote" into "Timotheus" until you define it. - VermiciousKnid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How sweet would it be to do a bit of "Grease Lightning" or "YMCA" on this?
- MrTea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Where the hell is the pole dance mix?!
- ckengel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'll bet there will be a required disco diagonal thrust in sync with Beegees electronic covers.
With a John Travolta avatar dancing in the background. - Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you got a flashcart you can play DDRlite on you DS.
http://ds-scene.net/forum/forum.php?topic=1258 - freetyme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, game looks awesome, but I'm really really bad at DDR, I suppose the being able to use gamecube, and wii controllers at the same time provides hope that you'll be able to use gamecube, and classic controllers for Brawl.
With How bad I am at DDR though, I don't know I can handle something additional like hand motions. - DarkTetsuya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well it's gonna suck being unable to use my Ignition 2.0, but awesome otherwise...
- Spaceboy492, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2DDR + Para Para Paradise possibly? At least it'll interest the furry crowd.
- Spdprince, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yea that looking nice nice
Am on the wii flex
B-town wii - trentdk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1YES! This is wonderful news. I was just thinking it was about time that they announced DDR for the Wii. At first I thought the article implied that it was only hand movements, but of course, its the legs too :P
Damn, I'm more excited about this now than Mario Party... - Taromsn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Only problem is most people's legs stretch further than the Wiimote cord.
- Bossman1086, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, we knew that was possible already. In DBZ for Wii, you can use the remote and nunchuck, cube controller, or classic controller...a couple other games allow it, too.
- dasilva333, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1anyone have a link to the video?
- slicedoranges, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@ davidsmero
Just wait for Elite Beat Agents 2 to come out... - MeekoTheRaccoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Any word on if you can use the GC DDR pad from Mario Mix?
Also, DS DDR could work, haven't you ever made a 'man' with your fingers? You know like the old Yellow Pages ads? Let your fingers do the.....Dancing! - scrubking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did you see how fast those steps were in the video? How are they going to do that plus add in hand gestures without having people emailing Konami about how they broke their legs trying to do all of that?
- 5hop4orce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lame.
- stuntman021, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks awesome.
- cyranthus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1should be fun.... anyone like the dancing game on Rayman?
- or3n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah hopefully those adapters work w/ dance pads though. such adapters for PC (ps2->usb) tend to have axis/button problems w/ dance pads.
- krz9000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i think you mean para-para :) mmh i love to see girls doing it...
- AshTR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The furry crowd likes Para Para Paradise? Since when?
- ibeetle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh God! I just have nightmare flashbacks of the Sega Genesis Activator Ring.
- MeekoTheRaccoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Then again, If we could use the Pad and Wiimote in other games.
What game was it, in arcades, that had the pedal to crouch with, Time Crisis?
Think of how coold Wii Sports would have been with a 'power pad'.
I would have edited, but the box went away. - Codename, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So there will be a floating Dance Pad?
- FatherG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a DDR-esqe game that uses hand/arm movements instead of your legs and feet? That would make a /much/ better fit to the Wii than DDR.
Although wireless accessory leg controllers for the Wii would be nice. You wouldn't need to use a DDR pad just slip 'em on like legwarmers. - liwii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hopefully it'll be playable with others over the internet; this seems like the perfect game for that; exchange wii numbers at sites like http://mapwii.com and dance away!
- echonull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ davidsmero
Or, if you're done with EBA, go import Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osu!_Tatakae!_Ouendan
I'd love to see something like good old Samba De Amigo, crossed with Ouendan, on the Wii. Shouldn't be that much difficulty implementing maracas with the Wiimote/Nunchuck.... - CountC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1There's a furry crowd?
- Jayveemon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Maybe the winners of this years Broadjam contest will be included in the game. Anyways I was hoping DDR would make it to the Wii. DDR is a party game and Wii is a party system so yay ^_^
- Bossman1086, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Here are some videos...keep in mind, it's still a very early version of the game and nothing is finalized yet...oh, and they're all off screen.
http://media.wii.ign.com/media/800/800277/vids_1.html - NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3hmmm I bet they could plug a dance pad into the GameCube ports... and then we could have traditional DDR, but with the Wiimote and nunchaku added in!!!! hand AND feet movements!!! that would be sooo wild!!! XD
- CountC, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Jack Thompson says:
"This game is bad for the kids. Do you see how revealing that dancer's clothes are? I call ban." - requinox, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0iam413x:
They are using the gamecube mario ddr dance pad. I don't think you need to worry about having your hands tethered to the ground ;) If that's what you didn't mean to say... then ... uh... well having the dance pad wired to the wii isn't that much of an issue is it? - davidsmero, on 10/12/2007, -14/+3Anyone know when its coming to DS ?
- Braingoo, on 10/12/2007, -24/+1Could be good just go easier on that crazy Japaneses J-pop. Its repetitive and annoying.
