- ShiverMeBoner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29This mounts as a USB drive (mass storage) so it works just fine on the Mac.
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Better hands on/review:
http://digg.com/hardware/First_review_of_the_DS_Xtreme_at_GBAtemp_net - mingistech, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19wow... i can't wait to try this out.
i wonder if it will work with a Mac?
it will be very convenient to have all my games on a single cartridge. - pbjorge12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12By NOPASS I assume you mean "nopass" capabilities...
Which it currently has... - smiley2billion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13It should work fine on a "phat" DS.
- flizzoyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Yes, you can connect it to a computer without the DS. It will also be OS X compatable because it uses the FAT 16 file system.
- mtlriffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I dugg you down because of your long chat log.
Give us the highlights. Explain the message you're trying to let us know about, without the entire chat log. I don't want to read that whole thing to figure it out. - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11The average DS rom is about ~60 MB. 512 is a pretty large capacity, but with other flashcarts you can use microSD cards up to 2GB. (I've got the M3 Lite with a 1GB card)
- nonokiaboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Unfortunately, I don't think 512Megs cuts it for a power user such as myself.
I have a supercard MiniSD version, and like 1 gig of storage to play with (for apps, games, emulation, music and taking notes and also drawing pictures)
Another point, the battery usage is much higher in the DS Slot - compared with the GBA slot.
So with the supercard, you do get bigger storage ability, and a longer battery life.
This being said, the 4 gigabit card looks very nice, I love the mini usb interface.
It's a shame that it connects on the top though. - epu2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Can you connect it to a pc without the DS, or not??
just wondering... - HarrySlone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Looks cool.

9.5/10 - pbjorge12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5True...I definitely agree with you on those point...
Thats why I'm gonna pick me up a Supercard SD - golddigga, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6yeah but they cost just about a much as a ds itself
- nunofgs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Just wait for acekard. It "suposedly" has many of the same features with a micro-sd slot.
The M3 team is also coming out with a slot-1 device too... save your money and wait a few months. - kakem0nster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's quite clear on their official site that it's 4Gbit (512 MByte). http://www.ds-x.com/cgi-bin/dsx/engine.pl?page=product-dsxtreme
Some resellers are considerably more unclear on the issue, though...
The cart's capacity is specified in bits, because for some reason that is what makers of official game carts always have been using. Size of console ROM-dumps are also usually specified in Mbits. Don't hate the player, hate the game ;) - smiley2billion, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12The typical DS game is about 16 MB to 20 MB. So you'd be able to carry about 25 to 30 games on it at one time. Where the hell is my checkbook.
- tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"True...I definitely agree with you on those point...
Thats why I'm gonna pick me up a Supercard SD"
And with MicroCenter selling 1gig SD Cards for $15.00 each you can afford to have an SD card for each system!
DS, GBA, GBC & GB, NES, and even SNES! (There are GBA emulators for the last 2. LOL) - timmyboywonder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4pretty expensive http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-ds-dsxt4.html
- rhfb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I heart GBATemp
- Hoffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It seems all rom things go by bits. I have a flash card thing for my GBA that says 128 Mb, which is only 16 MB.
- Buddhist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Now that is a sleek design for the DS Lite.
- dinopio, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Its everything u need to get your DS pimped...
Easy for the New DS enthousiast.
Powerful for the hard core DS users
Amazing for the Development of Homebrew (I runs all compilations of homebrew, even if it was comipled for other hardware!) Sounds like OSX running universal binary ;)
All in one solution
Usb works on ALL OS's and has no software requirements...
512MB for your favourite roms
NOPASS built in and GBA cartridge support for old Slot 2 solutions
Instaboot lets you boot directly to your last played ROM (without loading the OS)
DS Download Play lets you host games and play with others who dont have carts... intersting feature..
Leds (Look my DS is cooler than yours)
Programmable skinning engine... just the tip of the iceburg aparently.
On going support in all languages (as per forums.ds-xtreme.com)
list goes on... people begging to get their hands on this
Hell mp3 player might even replace my Ipod which is 512Mb.. :) - daRoach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Link to article http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=38174
- shinynew, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes they aucally use a imac G5 in a youtube video on their blog
http://news.ds-x.com/2006/09/homebrew_support_1.html - mkjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ORRRDDERRD ONE :)
£70 in the UK. Which works out at around 3 DS games. Worth it for the ££ saved in using backups. - mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Right when that big, beautiful Fedex man dropped this off at my door, I was playing game backups within 10 minutes..."
hahahaha - kevinmoore, on 06/13/2009, -0/+1Good luck with single-card DS download play!
- contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Any idea if this thing plays GBA roms too?
- daridave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1get EZ-Flash for that. :o)
- slasherx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wow this will be sweet for Homebrew Development! Time to fire up the old GCC copy. :)
- Hoffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I ordered one of these today. Can't wait for it to be released.
- EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Looks shady to me...
Especially since they advertise 4Gb. They know computer noobs will think it is 4GB(hell, I thought it was 4GB at first until I read the specs) of space and not a measly 512MB. - Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder how the sound quality is though, and if closing the DS will turn off LCD but keep music playing. That would be awesome. I was planning on getting a Lite anyway.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Single card does work with the M3 Lite. I'm not sure about the supercard, but im assuming it does. If online multiplayer works, and two card wifi works, then why shouldnt single cart?
- akeldama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you've got a DS Lite, then it would be tough to beat the M3 Lite Micro SD + Passcard 3 combo:
http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-ds-m3lpass
Buy a few micro SD cards to go with it and you've got unlimited storage. - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Problem is the price. For 512MB, ~$130 is very expensive. Considering the M3Lite + Passcard 3 is $80 (+$45 for a 1GB microSD card), its not that great of a deal. (For those who are new to the DS homebrew scene, the M3 Lite has the greatest all around support for GBA and NDS roms, as well as homebrew apps because its been around so long (the M3, that is.. not the M3 Lite, which is just the same but uses MicroSD cards). This seems to have about equal support as the M3, which is a good plus for the DS-Xtreme.
So this is great for people who like no hassle, but ultimately you are restricted to the builtin 512MB which isn't alot when you want to watch full length movies. And your paying a high price for a pretty weak 512MB. - cariba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1its really cool stuff :)
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No, downloading roms is illegal, even if you own the game. The only legal process is making a ROM of the game cartridge yourself. But Nintendo doens't care about people downloading rom's, so whatev...
- LiXy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got mine here http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catalog/DS-Xtreme-4GB-DS-X-p-2449.html and it works flawlessly with my Mac
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The M3 Lite + Passcard 3 is the best deal for the DS Lite. ($85) Yes, it is more hassle than the DS-Xtreme, but you can't beat the NDS and GBA rom, or homebrew support. Plus it uses MicroSD cards, which you can buy a 1GB A-Data MicroSD from newegg.com for ~$45. The only downfall to the DS-Xtreme is the damage it might take, and the restricted memory (512MB is kinda weak if you want to put movies on there)
- cariba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nice . Looks like a pritty cool device
cant wait to get my hands on one of these - Punisher2K, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Well who the ***** uses gigabits when talking about storage? They are just trying to confuse people.
- dinopio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1For more reviews and where to buy go here http://forums.ds-xtreme.com/showthread.php?t=341
- mvanhorn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How do you rip your DS games and put them on your computer to put them on this card?
- Araya213, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3No *****, it looks like a solid product, but wow, what a bunch of shady ***** these guys are. No sale!
- cariba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they tell you in the specs that it is 512mb. How can anyone be confused with that? its stright forward ;P even a noob can read
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Resident Evil is 128MB. Many are 64MB.
Personally, I use my M3 for more than just being able to hold all my games on one device. Hamny homebrew apps can use gigs. This thing just doesn't have the capacity that an SD or CF card does. - mikkaworkscom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You know there is a lot of games that don't work on GBA, with the Supercard, for a list check here: http://www.rothmans.joskeonline.com/supercardsite/
----
http://www.mikkaworks.com - jonnyq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I haven't tried it yet... I haven't tried any multiplayer with it yet. Does the single-card download stuff not work with it? Hmm...
- EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1And how will Portable Firefox work if the DS does not support exe's?
