- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Kotaku.com have the best coverage, they have a reporter out there right now updating trying to get 1 lucky reader a DS lite shipped over.
Apparently many stores have 400 units, and they've just found that 600 people turned up for them. The police stepped in to turn everyone away.
This is how to launch a console if you ask me, release 1, then get the software library sorted.. then release a hardware revision that appeals more and is refined based on experiences of the DS classic customers responses.
Kudos to Nintendo, I hope I win!! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm SOO getting a DS now. Glad I waited. I WANT MY REVOLUTION!
- yongfook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"why did they camp outside for a slightly better DS that what they have now"
because it's slightly better. - kkaabboomm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://ds.ign.com/articles/692/692939p1.html
ign has some great coverage too - Autrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man, I wish I hadnt bought one last month >:(
- hoowahman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's right all Adults are responsible and are contributing to society and never have fun.
- fourfive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks like something apple would make. But it still looks pretty damn cool.
- serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Although I won't be surprised if the Big N locked out the DS flashcarts/passme's, I hope GBA flashcarts will still work. I've held off on a GBA it's entire life and have a pretty big backlog of portable gaming to get to, would love to use the DS Lite to play all those great GBA games.
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sleeping bags?? wow
- xLiKx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sold out in japan already
- zaofreek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I paid $100 for my DS. I'm actually glad I didn't wait...although I really like the DS Lite (and I will be buying one), I couldn't have waited this long to play DS games.
- two2sANDthree3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with zaofreak
- Darkshine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dang that needs to get over here fast.
- TPrime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm gonna import one once my income tax return gets here. Shove that in the faces of my friends who have the "old" DS!
- Slinker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't wait for it to be released. Note: The Japan version will work in other countries (Like the US), there is no regional encoding on the games.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm waiting for the first reviews disassemblys. I'm curious to see how different it is. Either way, I'm not going to part with my DS, I like the blue color.
As noted, they are not region locked, so if you feel like paying throught the nose from Lik Sang or Play Asia the DS games you buy here will work, all you lose is the warranty. - tombomb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not that appealing to me. I woulda bought A lite had I waited, but I'm not kicking myself for buying the "plain" DS. Nonetheless, I have to digg it
- o0joshua0o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't wait to get this. It's too bad that supply and demand are driving the prices through the roof.
- roxas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i dont really need a new ds. its only a new look.
well thats about it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When will it be launched in the US/canada? I want one.
- Meshyf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want! God damn its so pretty.
- lollerskates, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Soon, owning the "old" DS will label you old school. At least, I hope that's what'll happen, considering I'm not going to buy one until it's US release.
- xjems, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone know the US release date?
longer battery life... mmmmm. - I8PP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"N conducts business kind of like the film industry: First release a film in the theatres, then on video, then on DVD, then on special edition DVD, then on ultimate DVD, then on UMD, then on HD-DVD, then on BLUE RAY and expect your customers to buy it each time, and if they do not blame them for piracy and jack up the price."
They don't expect everyone to buy all the versions, but they know some obsessive fans will.
I'm thinking about buying a DS, but I'll need to know if the current generation of pass-me cards will work on this new model first - timmyboywonder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is speculation that the DS Lite will Launch with the new mario game on may 7th
- amigiac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Haha, you COULD get a ds lite... Or you could get a psp... ;)"
The PSP is big and so easily scratched to funk, I want to play games on something I can chuck in a pocket, plus the back catalogue and flash carts make it a better deal. - amigiac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want one.
- bruggerA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why did they camp outside for a slightly better DS that what they have now
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Haha, you COULD get a ds lite... Or you could get a psp... ;)
- chatwithaninja, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0As usual, the patient are rewarded with updated systems, and lower prices.
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The author wasd a fanboy retard. Saying that something like that is work 300 big ones. My arse!
Ahhh, bikku kamera... natsukashii! - Alaerus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0When the DS originally came out I didn't get one because, IMHO, it did not look like something "portable" to me (then again I feel the same about the PSP). I have had a GBA-SP for some time now and have been very satisfied with it. There are alot of DS games coming out that I've been wanting to play. This DS Lite looks like a winner for me--when they make it to this side of the ocean I'm definitely getting one.
- Groovester, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yeah, the Lite looks much more appealing than the "original" DS. I don't know why they thought of this idea now....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0this is so kewl, nintendo u r god! I already have different SPs now I get a new DS for crishmas!
- squaat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'm going to wait until the opera browser cart is available! Cheap wireless browsing, the possibilities are endless! From the looks of things the DS lite looks so much better. My favourite feature... they moved the power button. Clumsy me kept switching the thing off when I got too excited :)
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0any word on if Nintendo screwed up the screen like they did the new back lit SPs? I'm really concerned about it cuz after using my back lit SP for a while now I'm very annoyed with the screens speed and color. It's now 50Hz instead of the original 60Hz (blur city) and favors the color red (blue sky is now slightly purple).
For such an innovative company I'm very shocked they have yet to do a proper back lit handheld without getting one thing or another wrong so it cancels out what was done right.
Though the failure to include proper GBA (link port) and any GB/GBC support in the DSlite now that they know it's a hit product that wont tarnish the GameBoy name is enough to make me not buy it even if the screen is still ok. - breakneckridge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Weird. Camping out all night to be one of the first to get a slightly smaller and more attractive version of a handheld game system you already own? Just plain weird.
- sensibledriver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What's weirder is seeing Adults playing video games...
- kolop1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0 I wish I could do business like Nintendo. Make a product, then when sales of that product start to fall rerelase the same product with slight modifications, and have everyone who buy my product twice. Anyone who buys this product twice is an idiot.
- Berek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Who cares about Japan? When's it coming here?
- genrebusters, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0N conducts business kind of like the film industry: First release a film in the theatres, then on video, then on DVD, then on special edition DVD, then on ultimate DVD, then on UMD, then on HD-DVD, then on BLUE RAY and expect your customers to buy it each time, and if they do not blame them for piracy and jack up the price.
