- DaleoftheUK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Think I'll go make one....wait I don't have a wii. Wait why the ***** haven't I got a Wii?
- beepsy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14What would be wrong with playing an RPG with the mote? RPGs have been using a mouse for ever on PCs, and the Wii-Mote makes a more than suitable replacement for a mouse with its point and click.
Games don't have to use every feature of the controller to be a good game, they should use whatever makes the game the most intuitive. - NaziHatinChimp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14That's ***** awesome. It shows more potential for the wii.
- shakin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Why would you bother commenting when you obviously haven't even played the Wii? Are you a paid shill?
I play Zelda, Mario Party, and other games just fine while sitting on my couch. I don't need to flail my arms around. In fact, though I own more than a dozen Wii games I don't own a single one in which I am required to stand up and flail around at all.
The Wii controller is better than a standard game controller because it allows for better control options. Good examples of this are the character control in Prince of Persia (especially the camera control), the fighting and movement control in Zelda, the aiming in RE4, and the spells in Harry Potter. Three of those four games are available on other systems and the Wii control on each of them is the best of any system.
The balance board looks like a great way to play skating and snowboarding games. I bet wakeboarding, surfing, and water skiing games will also come out for it. It might also make a good peripheral for other games to add foot control. It's no worse a peripheral than the guitar in Guitar Hero, and that games awesome! At least the balance board will be used in many games. - ddobson, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14I disagree - the Wii handles conventional control schemes quite well with the standard Wiimote-nunchuck combination -- the player gets an analog stick, a d-pad, four primary action buttons, four small/secondary action buttons, an IR pointer, and motion detection for the same two hands a conventional joypad occupies.
Resident Evil 4, Scarface and Godfather are immeasurably better this way. One analog stick to move in the left hand, plus an IR pointer to aim with a trigger to shoot in the right works really, really well. (Or they can be switched, of course, for the lefties in the audience.) The standard joypad approach feels archaic to me now -- not that I won't use it for Virtual Console games, but it's very last generation and it's making it hard for me to commit to either of the HD systems so far. - sofaKing812, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Yeah, because Twilight Princess was so annoying to play and similar controls could not be successfully utilized in other "real" games.
I'll grant you that a lot of games are just trying to cash-in on the success of the Wii, but the time to write the whole system off as a gimmick has passed. - lrf2005, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Looks like someone hasn't had a good homemade hamburger.
- Antialias, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Actually so far it's looking like RPGs are coming up with some awesome ways to use the Wii remote. Zelda, and Dragon Sword to name a few.
- KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Then damn the other 2 systems must be a real waste... since wii is the best of 3. He doesnt have one cause there so hard to get due to how great they are.
- jesterkap2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Why does everyone assume you have to flail around like an idiot to play wii? Have you tried playing twilight princess? You don't have to flail around, just make slight motions.
- ddobson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Opoona, Final Fantasy Chronicles: Crystal Bearers, Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk.
- loof, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4There's no requirement that you have to implement motion controls in a Wii game. Strikers barely even uses the motions controls. It's a matter of the developers using what works for the game.
- CalmLlama, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4His design is overly complex and has limited mobility. He should have used a real balance board, or made a real balance board.
- robustyoungsoul, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Digging through these fancy replies is irritating.
- BobsYourUncle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Alright, I know the whole point of DIY is to actually do it yourself, but I think it'd be safer and more sturdy to use a balance board. They have them at my gym, in two flavours: 2 directions (sits on an half-cylinder), and all directions (sits on a ball). Just a thought.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I know seriously, my homemade burgers are way better than the ***** you buy at Denny's or McDonalds.
- Antialias, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Um.. no it doesn't detect anything other than your feet. if you are moving your body around, all the board detects is shifting pressure on your feet, left or right which is exactly what balance is.
- b3mus3d, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Spam:
http://www.spam-uk.com/info/info_i.asp - KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2you really never played a wii at all have you. The wii controls felt natural for twilight princess, just as good as the gamecube controls if not better.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Dude, look at your ***** history. You are the biggest WiiFanboy that ever graced the internet, you and Wageslaven (the 360 fanboy) would create chaos if you had a baby together.
- Snuff99, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Tell me a Diablo-style dungeon crawler would not rock sox on the Wii. Point and click heaven.
- grumbel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1RE4 didn't start out as a Wii game, Scarface didn't start out as a Wii game, Godfather did neither and even Zelda:TP began life elsewhere. Those games that did start out on the Wii, more often then not, ended up as gimmicks.
- walkingcrow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I remember I had something like this on my NES. The "Roll n Rocker". It was fun to play TC Surf on, but hard to do for very long.
http://www.planetnintendo.com/thewarpzone/rocknroller.html - grumbel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1And for "just as good" I should pay $250?
- S1L3NTC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Gurkarma,
Quit bitching and go back to your last-gen system. You missed the boat. - STKD, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1FYI... It's not just balance it detects. It's FULL BODY MOVEMENT. No digg because this is < my Amiga Joyboard
- LobbMarques, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Whatever you are from nature, keep to it; never desert your own line of talent. Be what nature intended you for, and you will succeed; be anything else, and you will be ten thousand times worse than nothing.
- KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2why has my session expired?
- KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1See thats where your wrong. Wii already has a good amount of good-great games. PS3 doesnt. And Wii has the best upcoming games of all 3 systems. And I have a media center already... don't need my game console to have one as well. You know how many times I watched DVD's on my ps2? Zero.
And I have diggs for other consoles as well. I know I gave one to for when Symphony of the Night was released for PSN, and one for when said came came out for XBL as well before then. - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2"To name a few.", haha can you actually name any others?
- KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -5/+4because wii is a gaming system... and this is the gaming section. How does it feel knowing your bury does nothing compared to all the diggs?
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1A fanboy is someone who talks about a specific console, and happens to have all his diggs about said console, who also doesn't recognize any of the consoles faults.
I have both a PS3 and Wii, and I can easily point out the many flaws that both have (I'd say the Wii has a lot more flaws). I consider myself a borderline PS3 fanboy, but even I can admit that Sony are a bunch of ***** ups, and how lame all the PSN updates/games that are out right now. The PS3 needs a lot of added support to their media center as well, but Wii can't even do that *****. As far as games go, both don't have ***** right now, but the PS3s lineup will look better in comparison by the end of the year. - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Everybody knows Twilight Princess was not made for Wii, and they delayed the Gamecube version for nearly a year just to tack it onto the Wii release...the controls were ***** as hell on the game, and the whole image was mirrored, kind of a disappointment.
- KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3I'm not a wiifanboy, just think its the best system... I'm a fan of many systems.
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1So why isnt this in Mods or the Wii section?
Buried. - KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3A fanboy that has a ps1, ps2, psp, plans on getting a 360 for GTAIV? Again, as far as I'm concerned Wii is alot better then the 360, and MUUUUUUUUUUUUCH better then the ps3. But that doesnt make me a fanboy. I do want a 360, for GTAIV and RE5, but currently to me it isn't worth the price even after the drop until those games come out. If I was a nintendo fanboy I would say everything not nintendo sucks, which I don't. I love GTA series, I love the God of War series, the ps1 was exctremely overrated but the PS2 kicks ass... I recently got a psp off ebay less just a month or two ago etc.. Just think PS3 is a disaster and a big F you to previous sony fans. Don't be jealous because I'm in the NY Times and your not.
- KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2i played 360 many times as my nephew and brother have it, and the ps3 a few times as well as a few friends have it collecting dust. ... Beatles also sold out concerts don't forget. Beatles are also universally loved by all ages, races, creeds, etc. like the Wii.
Wii = The New Beatles. - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2There's my KingGoonie! My favorite WiiFanboy, i'm adding you to my friends list.
- shorty9, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Wii tips and tricks:
http://www.hooqs.com/wii-games-tips-and-tricks/17021,19933 - gukarma, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1Real intuitive to go through menus of a game like Final Fantasy tactics with the Wii-mote. It's also really fun to stand in front of your TV like a moron while you go through random battles. The fun in most games I have played comes from playing the game, and not the way I control the character. Flailing your arms around doesn't add anything to RPGs (at least not traditional ones).
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -9/+1Due to their unreasonable hype. I guess The Pussycat Dolls and The Cheetah Girls sell out concerts because they're "great"?
Play a 360 or a PS3 and you'll....wait a second, this is KingGoonie, there's no point in throwing any logic to you. - Piedramente, on 10/10/2007, -12/+1Looks no better than a homemade hamburger
- gukarma, on 10/10/2007, -15/+4Interesting how most Wii games turn out to be Wii-mote gimmicks.
The variety comes in how many different peripherals they can sucker you into acquiring or making.
The Wii-mote makes most real games downright annoying to play. Imagine playing an RPG with it. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -14/+1And its a black guy on Digg.Amazing ,Awesome hack though.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -17/+2Cause it's a piece of *****, don't waste your money.
