Command & Conquer 3 Ready For Launch!
gwn.com — Earlier today EA Los Angeles announced that the highly anticipated Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars PC title has officially gone gold ready for its retail release on March 30th. If you have somehow managed to miss what the game is all about we can help (for the rest of you, just rest easy knowing it will be here soon enough!)

- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6damn, i preordered and I still need to make $45 before it launches. crap.
- LogicBomB, on 10/12/2007, -24/+5Get a part time job? $45 is not a hard amount of money to come up with. I blow over $100 a week on booze alone (although I have a good job... lol).
- GraceMolloy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Ah college ... *sigh* ... I do miss that part of it.
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Demo was awesome. Full game will be be better. Multi-player is going to be insane.
Expect an Official Expansion for CnC3 to be announced 3 to 4 months after game has been released being on EA Link and also in stores... and expect from 1 to 3 years to hear about Red Alert 3 as well, which there was a Red Alert 3 when Westwood was still open, before it shut down. - VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6also btw..
for you command and conquer fans... just took a picture of this image and uploaded it for your viewing pleasure...
this is what it looks like when boxes are made for the command and conquer universe, usually before they are finalized for production.
http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/4858/cnctowboxcovers01og7.jpg - bias, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3How can it be "Ready" for launch if it just gone Gold...?
- badbox, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5"damn, i preordered and I still need to make $45 before it launches. crap."
So, download it and play until you get the money to buy it. Regardless of what the masses tell you, there's nothing wrong with that. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19"So, download it and play until you get the money to buy it. Regardless of what the masses tell you, there's nothing wrong with that."
Except, once you've downloaded it, and you do manage to scrape up that $45 bucks, it's awfully hard to convince yourself to pay for something you already have, and no one's going to know you haven't paid for. - badbox, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1"Except, once you've downloaded it, and you do manage to scrape up that $45 bucks, it's awfully hard to convince yourself to pay for something you already have, and no one's going to know you haven't paid for."
That's up to the individual I guess. Not really a valid argument against downloading it anyway, though. - nimicohgr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"Except, once you've downloaded it, and you do manage to scrape up that $45 bucks, it's awfully hard to convince yourself to pay for something you already have, and no one's going to know you haven't paid for."
Except, that arguably the best part of RTS is playing against human opponents, and you won't be doing that with a pirated version. - Parasocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If it went Gold it means it's going out to reviewers, and it won't be changed before launch.
- skEwb35, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Affffffirmatifffff
- 3dom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1"no one's going to know you haven't paid for." -Exactly. I think I can live with myself.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Except, that arguably the best part of RTS is playing against human opponents, and you won't be doing that with a pirated version."
Hamachi. :)
- mybeat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yaaay.
sux that i havent upgraded my video card yet..
will they start selling it in europe on the same day or again do we have to wait for some weeks? - johncern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh yeah! Time to play.
- OropheR, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4What about RA ? no sequel ?
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Red Alert 3 is coming.. just don't expect it for a year, or 3.
- bobbob1016, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5They do the releases in cycles, the Tiberian storyline, was the first C&C. Then Red Alert, then Tiberian Sun, then Red Alert 2, then Renegade (a First-Person Shooter in the Tiberian universe), then Generals (a new story line). I skipped the expansions, but each game had an expansion, except renegade. I also skipped Sole Survivor, which if I remember right was also in the Tiberian storyline.
- Noctem, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Too bad I'll be busy with Supreme Commander for about 6 months.
- sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23After about 5 months you might finally finish constructing one of those experimental units.
- Brackhar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I'm looking forward to C&C3, but I'm kinda in the same boat. Supreme Commander is satiating all of my RTS needs right now. It'll be interesting to see which I play more when they're both out.
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8To be completely honest, the Supreme Commander and TA series is very deep and heavy for any RTS fan, and the Command and Conquer series is more fast paced, based off the latest CnC3 demo. Meaning, the SC takes and will extend to many many many hours for something to happen or to destroy a base where CnC can be summed up within a hour or 2 being skirmish or online; but I've played some matches or skirmish's of CnC and RA series that sometimes takes 2 to 3 hours, but it was because I was playing against 7 hard computers in skirmish or was playing someone really really good.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Many hours? when my friend and I play, its usually an exchange of 20 nukes every 5 minutes, and whomever has teh better missile defense wins!
We gotta find the weak spots in their defense and concentrate and such. Use artillery to weaken their defense. I know it isnt the right way to play, but we have fun...
About 2 hrs per game. - Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@ sundancekid - Not if you use your ACU and multiple T3 engineers to build up for teh win! :) The Mavor, for example, will take 200 real-time hours to build if you're only using a single T1 engineer but once you add several T3 engy's and your ACU to the mix, it takes a much more reasonable 20 minutes. Nothing wrong with that. :)
- Nydas, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19@vipeness
How DARE you refer to SupCom as "SC". SC is Starcraft. And it will always be Starcraft. You best remember that. - lukeev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*Yawn* - same old 90's RTS stuff. I'll also stick to Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes - games which actually innovate.
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1too bad my computer is ***** and large scale supcom battles are nearly unplayable:( but C&c 3 runs just fine.
- j4200, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2games that innovate? I have SupCom.. it's nothing new. You just can't innovate an RTS. Westwood and Blizzard already layed it all out in the day. The thing that makes an RTS great is how it balances. I just finished playing a few rounds of SC. Even with it's ***** poor graphics I'd say it's a tighter game then SupCom. 10 years down the road I dont think many people will remember SupCom. SC though, well here we are and look at what's remembered?
- lukeev, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Can't innovate RTS?!! Strategic zoom, simulation physics, gigantic unit sizes, huge maps, true 3d terrain, streamlined and innovative GUI et al.
- ChewyBass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I've pre-ordered as well. If I can only figure out a way to keep my son off the game so I can play. Hmm, looks like he'll be grounding for the next couple of months.
- drake546, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3its good to be da king!
- geoffreyireland, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Can't wait for this to be leaked.
The demo was kickass. - Darksaber11, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Yay! Though, I'm not sure why I'm that excited... I've never played any of the other C&C games (yeah, yeah, I know "where's my gamer cred" I've heard it before) and I usually like more "strategic" RTSs, but on the other hand, it'll be nice to have a RTS I can actually sit down and play between writing papers.
- Nydas, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Never played a C&C?
Get Red alert and Red alert 2. Those are the best C&C games. Followed by C&C: Generals. - sexycommando, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2I tried the demo for C&C3, it isn't that great. Lots of eye candy, if thats mostly what you care for. Red Alert series is the best of C&C, and Generals is a close second, I agree.
- Nydas, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Never played a C&C?
- crackiesqueak, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0The advertisements on that website completely block the screen shots. I don't understand how they expect people to put up with those ads.
- badbox, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6Being an EA game, I don't imagine this game will have too much innovation behind it's flashy graphics.
I really hope they don't ***** this one up. It's been about 10 years since a decent C&C game has been made.- johnny23, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Agreed, I'm just hoping it doesn't turn into "Command & Conquer: EA Money Grab".
- Exodin, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Totally, but if you've played the demo you know your fears are well founded. People are applauding the demo because it's not very buggy, welp.. that may be due to the fact that this engine has been used for I dunno, ALL of EAs RTS games. It plays like C&C generals, so count me the ***** out. It's funny how little attention an amazing game like Company of Heroes gets, but Chris Taylor releases a 10 year old game called Supreme Commander and it's the next slice of cheese, RTS fans are keeping us in the gameplay dark ages.
- Guard, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I'm hoping for In-game advertising on billboards!
Good thing you can build a building on billboards to destroy them.
Supreme Commander is kind of boring in my opinion... too slow paced. - foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"RTS fans are keeping us in the gameplay dark ages."
I have NOT played TA before a month ago. I didnt know it existed, and I absolutely love Supreme Commander. Also, TA is severely outdated, I played it a month ago, and I am glad the game with its nice game play was updated into Supreme Commander. I really dont want to be playing a 2D game from the 90s nowadays... - Nydas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@Guard:
Slow paced? You have apparently not played this game. In an RTS where you can have an army of 100+ troops within 10 minutes, is anything buy slow paced. The game does have some flaws, but being slow paced is not one of them. - j4200, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LOL TA is older than 10 years :D
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4I can't say that C&C 3 sucked but it's just nowhere near as good as Supreme Commander or Company of Heroes (or Dawn of War, for that matter). Why would you bother buying and playing this tired RTS compared to those amazing ones? Just doesn't make sense.
- thrallie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Can't wait for it to hit Usenet and torrents before it's released to retail!!
- Darksaber11, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2And you know it will. Though I'll probably pick it up eventually, it looks like a worth-while game.
- drake546, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i hate having to pop the dvd in to to play a game, so I ussually preorder a game from whatever dealer, then just download it as soon as its available. eventualyl it gets to my house, but i get my enjoyment of it beforehand.
while i hate a lot of its aspects, valve's steam is a pretty handy tool. more games should offer download as a purchase option.
- Shaggy63, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Reminds me of that episode of stargate atlantas.
- katanaswordfish, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3C&C3 is already looking dated to me, and its not even out yet...
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I see no reason for you to be dugg down here for speaking the truth. (Other than rabid C&C fanboyism leaving its ugly mark.) Here's a digg up to counter that kind of stupidity. Sadly you're spot-on here, C&C 3 not only looks dated, it plays 'dated' as well. Feels like the devs got stuck in 2002 and never left the year. Save your $50 and put it towards a better videocard so you can enjoy a real RTS game of substance and style like Company of Heroes or Supreme Commander (or to a lesser extent, Dawn of War). Nuff said.
- kefs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree.. and I was really looking forward to this game (latest offering since zero hour)..
I've played the cnc3 demo.. and it feels very dated.. it seems like a total conversion mod of generals.. just with more features/doodads.. but the gameplay is the exact same..
no thx..
- VulnoX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I really want this game, but then I see EA attached to it, and I frown.
I think of my Battlefield 2142 game which I played twice, how its exactly the same as BF2, just with different skins.
Also the Sims, and how that turned into a buggy cash cow.
Everything they touch turns into sadness...- Darksaber11, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Haha, so true, so true... They should really just kind of... die.
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9HOLY *****! Did you see the Actors they got for the game!! Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) , Josh Holloway (Sawyer, LOST), Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica) , and Billy Dee Williams AKA LANDO!!!!!
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1WOW, OMG THAT'S ALMOST COOL..er..wait, no it's not. Sigh. They're all b-grade actors at best.
- Omniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4C&C 3 uses VoIP communication in game. I, for one, was excited. Team collaborating is crucial. This is the first RTS that does this, as far as I know.
- kevyn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i thought it said command and conquer ready for lunch...
now thats something Id like to see - Rethcir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Construction Complete.
- musntSurfatWork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ow ok! ok! I'm wooorking!
- TheBarge, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I can't wait until the Xbox 360 version is released so I can sit on my couch and enjoy it on my HDTV.
- aaronadms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They're saying May for the 360. Might have to see if this old PC will run it while we wait.
- Nydas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3lol. RTS on a console. Ah that so funny. Thanks for the good laugh.
- chaos7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i've been playing the demo.. and i HATE that they moved radar from the command post to having it right away with the mcv
- Magnj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2SupCom is NOT slow paced if you know how to play, I regularly finish games in 10-15 minutes.
- mrsmegz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ive played the demo and being one who has bought every C&C up to this point, id have to say I'm probably going to pass. The Graphics and Eye candy was nothing more than meh imo, when compared to a game like Company of Heroes. It just seems really cartoony or that maybe they are just trying to be too nostalgic to the old one. As far as game play goes, it also seems dated. It goes for a "throw your masses at their masses until they crack, then go for the kill" rather than a more sophisticated tactical movement game.
- Fry3001, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0nice game
- angelzero0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've played the demo, what a dissapointment... no innovation whatsoever, aside from the units/buildings looking detailed, gameplay wise its more or less the same as the original C&C.
- dygel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have to agree. The demo struck me as C&C2 with some updated graphics. I can tell from the opening video that they're adding a third faction, but the few short clips of it looked like they copped out and rented the Zerg from Blizzard. Lemme guess, hostile alien race hellbent on consuming Tiberium? Man, that's so FRESH.
The series jumped the shark when Eric Yeo left. Between the EA involvement and the total lack of innovation that I've seen thus far, I'll take a bye on this baby.
- dygel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have to agree. The demo struck me as C&C2 with some updated graphics. - jp007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Meh. Just another entry in the long list of classic franchises that EA has ruined. Game is sub-par at best. Too bad the final mission doesn't involve nuking EA's HQ, saving the world from the plague of crap they inflict on gamers year after year.
- tkaStryc9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Article has a slight error, the game will be on store shelves the 28th of March not the 30th.
- manicdvln, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Expect pirated version 2 weeks from now.
- slipgate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Kane is back! No other game slices fast pased action with live action clips full of chessy but entertaining cut scenes. The fans are getting what they asked for a return to its roots. If they changed it it wouldnt be c&c anymore you might as well call it something else. I'll pick it up for sure.
- j4200, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't believe you guys are waging war over supcom and c&c3 . SupCom fans are idiots. Its a run of the mill game. Nothing extraordinary about it. Also, it's not that the game is more powerful that is the reason it's running sluggish on people's machines. It's because the game sucks at running. There's no reason for any decent system that can handle the particles being put out by the C&C3 engine, should slug down in TA... sorry i mean SupCom.
This war has already once been won. C&C > TA. It will be won once again.
SupCom just doesn't have the balls it needs to be a success. C&C3 has balls. - musntSurfatWork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As a Diehard Fan of CNC since WestWood Studio's Dune2-(who's your Daddy of RTS), I have to say I am pleased with the continuation of CNC after 10 years, however, I have been let down a great deal since EA is now in charge of this franchise.
I loved ZeroHour. I quit after 2 years when rampant cheating hit the multiplayer scene, and EA never did anything to address it. I will play CNC3 for the pure entertainment value it has to offer, especially with the live action cutscenes , a very welcome return!! But I do feel this game will not come close to the greatest memories I had of playing the original Dune2, then the first CNC and the first RA ..all from Westwood Studios. CNC, thanks for the memories, but EA will have to work hard to retain me as a returning player with many updates as needed..yeah like that's ever going to happen.
gg CNC. 1995 - 2005 - fabiopsousa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For the FANS here is a great CnC:TW forum discussion
