- loquedesea, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22i dunno man, that Chucky doll freaked me out when i was a kid...
- latova, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18"Can we get there?"
On digg's front page? The answer is "yes". - Mufflegrump, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16I donated just over $500 of stuff via their amazon wishlist a few weeks ago. It was like 15 shipments, I'm still getting shipment confirmation e-mails from Amazon. :)
- Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16You can, literally, do it for the children : )
They're at $963K USD right now.
http://www.childsplaycharity.org/ - CheapyD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13A check from the Cheap Ass Gamer community for $10,485 is in the mail!
- thebaron2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11If, for some reason, anyone is skeptical of charity organizations, remember that you can also click the individual controller icons on the map to see an Amazon.com Wish List for individual hospitals.
You can order requested games/toys there and have them shipped directly to the hospital that wanted them. Another good way to contribute if you only have a gift card or for whatever other reason. - OverloadUT, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Thanks for doing the math for us. I really wasn't sure what "117717 * 1" was!
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Good for you that you have $500 to give away (and are actually willing to part with it!), a lot of people don't. So for those of us that don't, it's okay to give what you can, it's not a contest.
- DannyBoy7783, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Don't make the kids suffer because the guy who posted the story is an asstard
- JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'm amazed at the fact that neither the headline, the brief description, or the blog that the headline links to explains what Child's Play is. It's not common knowledge.
- blork1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5https://www.paypal.com/xclick/business=childsplaycharity@penny-arcade.com&item_name=Childs%2BPlay%2BCharity&no_note=1&tax=0¤cy_code=USD
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7It was featured in the New York Times, as well as multiple mentions in other media outlets. And you'd know about this, too, had you actually bothered to read the article (hint: it's in the very first sentence, how lazy can you be?).
- MrZop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4When i first read the title i thought it meant the movie "Child's Play"
- TimDub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5OK I just did the math. There are currently 117717 registered Diggers. If each one donated merely $1 (US), CPC could easily break the million mark.
So, if you can donate, please contribute even more than that to make up for the ones that either can't or won't. - golga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It always amazes me how fast Child's Play grew. When it started it was pretty much just the two penny arcade guys doing all the work in their garage, and only at the one hospital in Seattle. Now its world wide and about to break the 1 million mark.
- MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4how the ***** is Ars-Technica a "***** blog" ? The "actual story" was Tycho saying that it was likely to add up to 1000000$+, if it didn't, he was likely to donate the rest. Ars Technica is as good a link as anything.
- mehtheinfernal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Quick! Everyone buy a t-shirt!
It's greeeeeeen.
http://www.thinkgeek.com/pennyarcade/shirts/8b08/ - portwojc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is a great cause. I wish I had donated earlier but better late than never.
- wokavan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hi, i posted the story, not trying to stir anything up, but the reason i posted the arstechnica article was because Digg wouldn't let me submit a link to childsplaycharity.com because it had already been posted some 20 days ago or so. thanks.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Cool, I bought a T-shirt. Thanks for the link! Hope they hit 1mil. =)
- Wonderkind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think it's pretty damned cool that someone has found an effective way to get kids to donate to a worthwhile charity.
I wish this was posted a few days ago. I'd like my donation to make it in before end-of-year.
Does anyone know if I can use Paypal for this? - Wonderkind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thanks for finding the link blork1. I sent money.
- wayniethep00p, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's truly amazing to see what the guys at Penny-Arcade are able to accomplish by bring together gamers to help charity. Child's Play is incredibly successful for a charity that is merely couple years old. =)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Some happy child will be enjoying Mega Man.
Go donate something for the kids you cheap bastard! :) Yeah I'm looking at YOU! - JustinPM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, they should do one with a Wii Remote. That'd be sweet, something like this.

Oh, and be careful, I'm no good at straps. :) - madhaha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DAMMIT. Just checked my mail and Amazon has sold out of Electroplankton. Now I have to find a different game for Childs Play... Kudos to the guy who posted the direct paypal link but I do want to get them a game.
- Mufflegrump, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There's just something *wrong* with that comment :)
- Durinthal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Already contributed, but nice to see it still being pushed.
- kickcows, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2god bless us gamers.
:)
dugg. and donated. - sp0rk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It took me like two minutes to figure out it wasn't about the movie.
- philrenaud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'd say we should recommend a "Sexy T-Shirts for Children" campaign for Penny Arcade, but something tells me there's already a copyright with "M. Jackson" written all over it.
- genforklift, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I donated a month ago, bought a sexy tshirt
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Let's do this, guys. Let's push it past 1 million!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2TSK you got a thumbs up from me. Because you are absolutely right. The Digg community lives in an alternate universe where more than 0.1% of the country has even HEARD of Digg, and more than 0.005% visit more than a few times before getting boared.
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Am I the only one that sees humor in the fact that the Child's Play logo features a silhouette of a PS2/3 controller? Especially now that it's so fashionable to abuse everything Sony.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+10You overestimate digg. Ya ya, dig me down.
- eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2@ilyag
Wow, the NYT does television now? Who knew. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+1I WOULD have donated...if the submitter didn't link to a ***** BLOG and instead linked to the page itself.
