CastleVania Movie Poster Revealed

slashfilm.com — Universal's Rogue Pictures released a teaser poster for the big screen adaptation of the video game classic CastleVania.

      As for a Zelda movie, they could only get one guy to direct/write/produce/and star in it, and that would be Uwe Boll.

    WHY GOD?! Paul W. is on par with Michel Bay as hack directors. I wish people would just leave the video game-movie thing alone. Video games do not translate well to the big screen. You can't take interactive entertainment and turn it in to something you do not interact with.

      Castlevania already has a great storyline and awesome characters. You're right though, Paul W. will destroy anything he gets his slimy hands on. It'd be great to see a legitimate director and cast working on this.

      Unfortunately, it'll be some half-assed ***** and bull story that somehow involves an unrealistically beautiful woman living in 2010. She'll be descended from the Belmonts and will end up having to go back in time with her boyfriend (Brad Pitt) to rescue Simon when Alucard is awakened by a 10 year old boy accidentally uncovering his coffin (which for no reason at all is conveniently in his grandparent's basement)

      I don't understand why directors find it SO hard to write a movie that stays true to the source material without camping it up and making it into a live action 2-bit cartoon.

      In comparison Uwe Boll was given the Bloodrayne franchise which had all the ground work laid out, story, characters, time period..etc. Yet he STILL managed to make a steaming pile of horse hooey

      The Castlevania series is about a war between the enchanted family bloodline of the Belmonts and Dracula. Almost every hundred years, Dracula is resurrected and it is up to the Belmonts to defeat him before he unleashes his wrath on the entire world.

      The most notable Belmont is perhaps Simon Belmont, star of the first several Castlevania games. However, the games feature many other characters, including Belmonts, relatives and other people that the player can control. The series also incorporates a variety of other creatures from classic horror fiction, films, fantasy, and mythology. These monsters serve to obstruct the path to Dracula but are rarely tied to the game's plot.

      It could be done, but for it to even remotely feel like Metroid, it'd have to be a very unusual movie.

He was thinking of this movie to start Dracula the way that Batman Begins did it for Batman...except wait, Paul W.S. Anderson compared to Christopher Nolan? Another video game license ruined by Hollywood. My only hope is there is some kind of freak accident in which the lives of Anderson, Michael Bay, and Uwe Boll are taken, Science Willing.

    Can't really go wrong with the castle on the hill for a Castlevania movie poster.
    Course, I'm not saying the movie will be any good...
    Its weird, if you listen to Anderson talk about game adaptations, he sounds like he knows what he's doing. I think the problem is he caves easily under studio pressure and lets the suits run his films.
    • LostInTheWired, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like the poster myself. It's art people. There is a meaning to it. The dark castle on the peak of a hill, edge of a steep cliff. Ominous towers too. It is supposed to show the abomination of everything eternallly evil. The castle is never gone forever. Dracula may die, but the castle will return, and bring Dracula and it's undead army with it. It is a symbol of the core of evil being the castle itself and everything in it. It's fantastic in my opinion. People just don't think about the artistic value of it.

      I'll watch it. I'll probably like it too. Castlevania: SOTN is my favorite game and it's hard to match, but this movie can pay tribute. That is a fantastic footing already. People just see games as trying to turn a game itself into something cinimatic. That is not the case. It is taking the emplaced game world and adapting and changing it to make it its own piece of art, not just some mild adaptation of the game story.
  • DangerMouse9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I really hope this movie has cheesy 80s effects for the monsters, and the sound effects straight out of the 8-bit goodness. If so, this will be an awesome movie to get when it comes out on DVD and have some drinks to. :)

    If anything, you can make a drinking game out of seeing this movie.

    It's got to be better than Snakes on a Plane, so I'm stoked about this movie.
