Capcom's sales plan for March, 2007: 2,250,000 for XBOX360, 150,000 for PS3
ir.capcom.co.jp — And 0 copy for Wii...
- 403 diggs
- digg it
- proxima, on 10/12/2007, -1/+183 titles for ps3 and 6 for 360, while 33 for ps2. Wow
- Sphonix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Capcom however does have some releases on the DS, notably Phoenix Wright, Resident Evil and Viewtiful Joe, so Nintendo has there place with Capcom.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -22/+7I'm playing their new Lost Planet game for the Xbox360 -- it's incredible. Fantastic game. It isn't released yet but.. I managed to get a hold of it..
- gxcdesign, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23@MrsAssMan
Yes, we all have the demo too - PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Got two games off the official site right here:
http://tomcat.capcom.co.jp/search/userseekrelease.php?seektitle=&model_cc=true&sort=newer&page=1&row=20
Sengoku Basara - Devil Kings (backed up by http://wii.ign.com/articles/732/732691p1.html )
and
Resident Evil - Umbrella Chronicles Biohazard (this has been announced a while ago, E3 maybe) - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I thought it was 4 titles: Devil May Cry 4 , Kurayami, Resident Evil 5 and Monster Hunter 3.
Mabey they are talking about games made in-house but that still is odd. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2RE5 isn't slated til '08, as a previous story on digg reported, ergo, it isn't part of the '07 lineup.
http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Resident_Evil_5_coming_2008_at_60_FPS - daridave, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7"Nintendo has their place with Capcom".
Yeah, ok... they support the PSP even more. Now this isn't hate, but I don't recall people supporting the WonderSwan more than the GBA back then... or the N64, more than the PS1. Hey, just in case anyone forgot, the PS2 also had more support than the Gamecube !
When will Capcom stop kissing SONY's ass? Here's betting that in 2007, Capcom WON'T meet expectations! LOL. - Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hmm... 10 titles for Nintendo DS. 21 for the PSP. I guess someone forgot to tell Capcom that the Nintendo DS is more successful (as if Dragon Quest IX officially shown for the Nintendo DS wasn't enough of a hint).
- sephiroth4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@mrASSMAN
I agree with the killer game Lost Planet and I understand what you mean about you happened to get it as Lost Planet is floating around on the internets already! The demo is so short, but I'll buy game @ retail also. Capcom rocks.
Im ready to be buried as I still don't understand the digg community's rating system.... - apoc06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@ elranzer: the DS is more popular in japan, but that doesnt equate to more users willing to buy certain capcom games. it has been notoriously difficult for third party developers to make large sales on nintendo consoles, which is one of the few reasons nintendo has not had much third party support. that is part of the reason that capcom ditched their infamous nintendo exclusivity for the resident evil series.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil_4#GameCube_exclusivity_controversy
the target demographic for a resident evil/ killer7/ devil may cry or a megaman/ ghouls and ghosts remake/ street fighter game can vary greatly. given the large percentage of DS owners that are casual gamers, its hard to gauge potential interest in a DS title and judge against your studio IP portfolio. - NeoTechni, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2"10 titles for Nintendo DS. 21 for the PSP. I guess someone forgot to tell Capcom that the Nintendo DS is more successful "
Yes because morons on the internet like you know better than the paid industry analysts that work for them.
I'm sorry but it's time people like you drop this irrationl hate/fear of the PSP. Its not doing anywhere near as bad as you want to beleive
For example:
http://xevon.awardspace.com/pspstuff/PSPvsDS.html - dr00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1regardless of anyone's personal feelings, noone can deny that the DS is far more popular than the PSP. hell the DS is far more popular than most of the home consoles.
- Sfenton, on 10/12/2007, -24/+8This is how low Sony fans go. I posted this in the Wii/Xbox 360 section and was greated with a big fat lock. http://www.sonydefenseforce.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=8
How is this FUD. Fear, uncertainty and doubt?- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -16/+6LMAO, sony defense force. i got IP banned from there when wii60 invaded:) that site is a joke. who banned you? was it m0dus teh FUD fighter or Hereboy The retard? here is a wiki on them that one of my friends at wii60 made
http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php/Sony_Defense_Force - EduardoTOWB, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11wow, i just did a bit of browsing around those forums and i feel like it was comparable in braincell loss to huffing glue for a few hours.
that modus guy is an A#1 jackoff - Nitrodist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11How about we don't discuss anything more on a random website that you brought up.
- StephenChow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Nitro won internets for morning. You guys, however, get -1 digg, +5 Agility
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2..I thought FUD meant "***** Up Disinformation"
- Spankov, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7SDF is a joke but you're a member of "Wii60". How old are you ? 12?
There is no Wii60 'alliance' but in your head. These are corporations and products you're championing not charities or philosophies. - alx242, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Cheezuz...the site is a joke, get over it. That time when you started posting stuff about it was when your head should have screamed "hold on a sec".
- Snapperiffic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Encyclopediadramatica is for people who are fat.
- jtizzle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I read enough to see that Modus is a ***** whanker.
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -16/+6LMAO, sony defense force. i got IP banned from there when wii60 invaded:) that site is a joke. who banned you? was it m0dus teh FUD fighter or Hereboy The retard? here is a wiki on them that one of my friends at wii60 made
- jfowler27, on 10/12/2007, -1/+60 titles for the GameCube and still projected sales of 200,000.
From my understanding of the development cycle and the costs of making next-gen games (especially for the PS3), how can Capcom hope to make a profit off of 150,000 copies for three new games?- Kxpuc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1b/c the 3 games they release will suck? if the game was good or great they'd have a higher expectation but then again how good are they projecting if they only sold 5k copies of the 1 Xbox 360 game they had out in 2006/3
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They're ports.
The 3 titles must be cross-platform titles that share almost all their development costs with the 360.
It is not unusual to make a small profit off a single title that turns about 150,000 copies, BTW. It's tough in next-generation, but common in the current one.
- Sfenton, on 10/12/2007, -14/+3They just banned me because of that article. WOW
- thegreenone, on 10/12/2007, -10/+44This just goes to show, that sony fanboys are the biggest morons on the web. The very fact that there is a website called Sony defense force cracks me up to no end. A multi-million dollar company really needs a bunch of chubby 12 year olds to ban together to save it. You know, like the goonies.
- XFive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8And the Goonies saved the day
- Geekbeard, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6@thegreenone
No, sony fanboys aren't chubby 12 year olds, but those people with souped-up Honda Civics and town-bicycle girlfriends who listen to pop music. - Calypsoaf, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5@Geekbeard, you give them to much credit, their girlfriends don't own bikes, they had to pawn them to get their PS3.
- scratt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8To be fair (Sfenton) you seem to go to that forum to deliberately stir up trouble, as much as the people there look for trouble, and act like facists.
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Actually, Sony Defense Force is probably just another Sony viral marketing ad, to replace the one that bombed horribly and made them look like the fools they really are.
If it were true, it would be so dumb that most people wouldn't think it came from Sony. - PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2GliTCH82, I had the same thoughts on the Sony Fanboy Defense, seems completely something that Sony would be capable of coming up with themselves, sadly.
- Sfenton, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4Be sure to Digg this so people can actually get a taste of what Sony fanboys are made of. They credit facts as FUD. Its from Capcom, yet its FUD. WTF
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Yeah, you kind of already mentioned that.......about 3 times.
- Sfenton, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Thanks for the Diggs and comments. Since this morning the people of SDF have changed their name and changed their stance on anti-fud to PS3-linux-news. My ban was lifted as well. See what information can do for the internet. Diggs really do help the internet.
- donrichy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4I dont care about capcom now lol
- dynendal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I guess "No More Heroes" for Wii isn't Capcom.
- soccerboi00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nope.
http://wii.ign.com/objects/827/827358.html - dr00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and that's a good thing.
- soccerboi00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nope.
- MagicBobert, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Yeah, don't really care about not having any copies for Wii because even it there were I wouldn't buy it.
- musbou, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I guess capcom doesn't want to take the risk, like they did with the gamecube. Also a lot of the capcom games fit the "Seeing is believing" tag line more.
But seeing as how the nintendo wii is doing, they better get on the bandwagon quick. - eizooo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2that's not march, these are the figures for Q1 2007
- huister, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8marked as inaccurate
look through Capcom's 2006 Press releases on that site http://ir.capcom.co.jp/english/news/
they have a game planned to come out on the wii called devil kings 2, http://ir.capcom.co.jp/english/news/html/e060914.html
and yea that No More Heros game- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I made a post above without scrolling down, I now see another person knew about the games Capcom was releasing on Wii as well. I hope everyone who reads comments marks this story as "Inaccurate" based on the description alone.
- soccerboi00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4No more heroes isn't published by Capcom:
http://wii.ign.com/objects/827/827358.html
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5What the hell is this doing on the front page of Digg? This is a new low.
- Mullinsmcd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Anyone know what the 3 PS3 titles are?
- craziestmule, on 10/12/2007, -7/+221 PSP titles? are they insane? sony can barely sell 5 titles across the entire market.
- TheXeno, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Try 18.5 million.
http://www.vgcharts.org/ - apoc06, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3despite what you may read on people's blogs or the general sony based hate across the web, the psp has actually had a pretty solid year and some solid games released. despite an erratic schedule of quality releases, the DS had a breakout year. the psp may not have sold as well as the DS, but software-wise some of this year's psp games were pretty good.
loco roco, daxter, syphon filer:DM, tekken:DR, metal gear solid:PO, killzone:L, GTA:VCS... come to mind. they all received critical acclaim.
also, something else to consider. from a third party publishers standpoint, it doesnt matter how large a userbase is on a console. what matters is how large is your target audience. nintendo consoles have for the last three or so generations struggled to generate large sales for third party. Rare games being one of the last large movers [technically, i think they were second party]. historically not all, but a large majority of nintendo owners prefer to buy first and second party nintendo games over third party games; regardless of quality. hence, third party games began featuring nintendo character cameos.
another point, if 50% of the DS fanbase is older grandmothers or casual gamers that like to play first party nintendo games, nintendogs and brain training, but the PSP userbase is 80% young males that like to playthird party action games... as a studio exec, which console would you rather release your sequel or port of the next resident evil game?
despite the superior visual quality of the GC version and the fact that it filled a large gap in the nintendo library, resident evil 4 for GC [one of the best games released that year] sold less than its ps2 counterpart. same applies for many third party games. - djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"the psp has actually had a pretty solid year"
It sure has. The homebrew scene has really come to grips with the system and released some awesome apps, and the hacked PS1 emulator was a great Christmas surprise.
Oh I'm sorry, you were talking about games? My bad.
- TheXeno, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Try 18.5 million.
- gzboli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11The post is correct but being construed in a manner that doesn't make sense. Yes, Capcom will have sold zero Wii games by March 2007... Because they haven't released any games for it. The post title and description try to sensationalize the information to appear as if Capcom isn't supporting the Wii which is untrue:
Devil Kings 3:
http://wii.ign.com/articles/732/732691p1.html
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (RE5 is coming to PS3/XBox360):
http://wii.ign.com/articles/706/706951p1.html
I cannot down vote the post since it is technically correct, but judging by some of the comments thus far there is a lot of misinterpretation here.- pokemogu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Seriously, I didn't intend to sensationalize the information. As a Wii owner, I even felt sad about this. But seeing fanboys ranting above, I think you're right. Really sorry for my unsuitable comment...
- igyigyigy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I didnt think he was misleading. When i read the '0 for wii' line I thought he was attacking Capcom for not releasing anything for Wii, not saying that Wii was *****?
- gzboli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My apologies, pokemogu.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Last year, 2006/3, they sold 5,000 units for Xbox 360, when it had been out for 3 months.
What a ringing endorsement of the 360.
2006/3: 5,000 units for Xbox 360, 580,000 for Xbox 180, for a total of 585,000 units.
2007/3: (projected) 2,250,000 units for Xbox 360, 100,000 units for Xbox 180, for a total of 2,350,000 units.
2007/3: (projected) 150,000 units for PS3, 3,200,000 for PS2, for a total of 3,350,000 units.
Yep, sure seems that Capcom understands on which side their bread is buttered. - dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1For those who don't RTFA, it's just FUD. Capcom will have sold 0 games through March 2007 because they won't have a game out yet! Geez. Can't sell something you don't have.
Unless you want Capcom to come out with crummy ports of last-gen games, let them take their time. We wouldn't want a crappy port like Xbox 360 -> PS3 games are looking like with bad framerates and horrible bugs, nwo would you? - destructoid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Speaking of which, if you have a 360 I'm giving away some copies of Capcom's Lost Planet this week. You know where to find me ;)
