- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -2/+75Gamers today are giant pussies. As soon as it takes them a few tries to do something in a game, they bitch and moan.
- BxBoy, on 07/14/2009, -0/+69LIKE A BOSS
- patrickbwells, on 07/14/2009, -0/+65I thought that was the whole point of a boss.
- DouglasQ, on 07/15/2009, -1/+35I'VE NEVER PLAYED THE ***** GAME!
- veriix, on 07/14/2009, -0/+28Make sure you poke out the correct one otherwise people might think you're gay.
- Khast, on 07/15/2009, -1/+29Okay, let's just make 2 versions of the games....one version with actual boss fights which make you actually work for your ending....
And the other version for whiny little snot nosed brats who couldn't even beat Super Mario Bros. without the Game Genie...so they too can have an ego for actually beating a game on their own.
Personally, I'll buy the version which actually gives a challenge... - deweyhewson, on 07/15/2009, -2/+29Don't worry, Nintendo will be along shortly to play it for you.
- xxacefirexx, on 07/14/2009, -0/+25This was in the comment section of the article, but I reposted it here because it had some good facts in it.
"Vega and Dan, the bottom-ranked characters in SF IV, win 66% as often as Sagat, the top-ranked character. The four or five characters after Sagat are less than 10% less winning. The winning differential between Sagat and Ryu/Balrog/Zangief is less than the winning differential between Ryu and Ken. The worst match-ups in the game are 7-3 (Sagat vs. Vega) -- compare that to Tekken or BlazBlue's numerous 9-1 (or worse!) cases.
Maybe SF IV isn't at the balance level of Virtua Fighter 4 FInal Tuned, but it's much closer than any non-VF game." - inactive, on 07/15/2009, -0/+25Seth's not that difficult.
Round 1: Focus attack, absorb a hit let go, and hit him in crumple stun, rinse and repeat. this should build you close to a full super for round 2, so dont use any ex moves.
Round 2 watch out for his patterns eg
If he has ex bars, he will very often use ex machine gun kick on wake up, so never stand over him charging focus attack
If he sucks you towards him, hold crouch block until he hits you, then smack him
2 sonic booms, wall jump = Punish with anti air move eg. dragon punch or even Ryu's, Sagat's or my man Vega's ultra (others too). if you have it.
When knocked down, use the quick stand and don't charge a move or he will teleport to the awkward side of you.
When in close he will focus attack alot of moves so avoid the heavy punch and kicks. if you jab you can get two in before he releases FA and you will therefore break it.
Try playing Super Street Fighter II': Turbo's arcade mode for punishment...
Getting my xbox back tomorrow from MS (Red Rings) can't wait to jump back in.
See you online. - mtnlion2, on 07/14/2009, -0/+24I remember pounding the keys on the coin-op Street Fighter in fury as I lost again and again to Vega and M.Bison. However the victory was all the sweeter when I finally did manage to beat them. As someone said above, isn't that the point of bosses?
- tgc1, on 07/15/2009, -0/+23You want to go insane. Play the original Street Fighter 2 Turbo on the 10 star mode. You'll go insane guaranteed.
- Biohazard6601, on 07/15/2009, -0/+18MY CAPS LOCK KEY IS BROKEN!
- SirBruce, on 07/15/2009, -0/+18Back in my day, we had to pay a quarter just to play a video game, and if you died in the first 10 seconds, tough luck, you lost the game and your quarter!
- riskybeats, on 07/15/2009, -0/+17HATE HIM SO GOD DAMN MUCH
- Khast, on 07/15/2009, -0/+16For anyone who complains about this game being hard, I suggest them give a try to Battletoads on the NES.

- styx31989, on 07/15/2009, -0/+14JUMP KICK > SWEEP FTW EVERY ***** TIME!
- UniversalGuy, on 07/15/2009, -1/+15I am REALLY good with Ryu, I usually beat the computer pretty easily.
But I CANNOT. BEAT. SETH.
So yes, I agree! F seth.
Why capcom WHY?! - drmangrum, on 07/15/2009, -0/+13I wonder how many of todays gamers could have made it through Contra without the cheat code or Ghosts and Goblins.
- Louay, on 07/15/2009, -1/+14I BEAT SETH ONCE AND CAN NEVER REPEAT IT WTF!! LOUD NOISES!!!1
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -0/+11Depends on if you're looking for a single player challenge or a balanced multiplayer match...
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -0/+10Anyone who plays Vega will tell you that Vega v Sagat is not his worst match up.
Vega v Blanka and Vega v Zangief are much much worse.
Don't believe the hype, or tier lists. - ShrayMonks, on 07/15/2009, -1/+11http://instantboss.org
- Galaeron, on 07/15/2009, -0/+9Don't forget to jump back after the sweep or he'll face ***** you!
oh sorry forgot caps
OR HE WILL FACE ***** YOU! - ileftfark, on 07/15/2009, -0/+9When I was a kid, we had to freebase Borax to defeat the quick-winking Mike Tyson and we liked it that way. We all had onions on our belts.
- sloach, on 07/15/2009, -1/+9I can't believe how many boneheads are saying "good, bosses are supposed to be hard."
I know it wasn't exactly spelt out for you, but it's pretty freaking obvious that they're talking about two player games where people are using the boss characters and having an unfair advantage. - Zeigy, on 07/15/2009, -0/+8Read my mind. Couldn't have said it better.
- Slio9, on 07/15/2009, -0/+8How is this news? Fighting games have overpowered end bosses all the time. Just like JRPG's have insane Extra bosses, it's a fact of the genre.
- bullhead2007, on 07/14/2009, -0/+7Exactly. SF bosses have always been OP. You just have to know how to counter and avoid their moves usually. Seth wasn't such an easy chess game to conquer, it seemed to depend on some luck. It was still fun and a great fighting game.
- AceAMasta, on 07/15/2009, -0/+7YOU MISSPELLED BILLY MAYS!
- styx31989, on 07/15/2009, -0/+7because there are no bosses in online play. you just end up with overpowered characters.
- eloestea, on 07/15/2009, -0/+6Im not suprised, I bought sf4 within a few days of it comming out, and I walked blindfoled through the matches until I got to Sagat and Seth. I must have fought for over two hours and still couldnt beat sagat, and then the next day...when I finally made it to Seth for the first time...that ***** boss took me all day to beat. I would murder him the first round, then he'd beat me the 2nd...and the third...well, id get him down to about 1/4 bar of health...and then he'd just unleash some biblical worthy beatdown. Took me 2 days to finally beat him...I was like, jeez, the ***** computer isnt supposed to be that ***** hard. and that was on the medium difficulty. I tried it on the hardest and never made it past sagat, still.
- Sloi, on 07/15/2009, -0/+6Sakura ftw.
- styx31989, on 07/15/2009, -1/+7not when you play online.
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -2/+8Good. Final bosses are SUPPOSED to be hard. That's the whole point.
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -1/+6If growing up in the 80s taught me anything, it's that computer programs are designed to cheat, and also that there will always be someone who will conquer a goal, no matter how pointless.
- rsmith32, on 07/15/2009, -0/+5meet a giant fish, ***** its brains out!
- styx31989, on 07/15/2009, -0/+5you're right! because if a game isn't harder than one of the worlds hardest games, it doesn't count as hard!
people aren't complaining about boss in single player, ass. It's the multiplayer that is unbalanced because of it. - Rain12913, on 07/15/2009, -0/+5No, they were those angry onions they put in the angry whopper.
- eloestea, on 07/15/2009, -0/+5same way in multiplayer ranked matches.
- gutistg, on 07/15/2009, -0/+5learn to dodge and block
- Nateon, on 07/15/2009, -1/+5I thought I could do better when I got it on XBLA now that I'm older, I still can't get past the third stage without shouting obscenities at my screen.
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -2/+6FTA "Niitsuma said that skilled players of other World Warriors can still beat Sagat or Seth players."
(I'm implying that you're not a skilled player) - lastmaster, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4turn into a jet!
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4Because of your kind comment i fished out an old forum post I made back in February, while i had the game about half a week. at this stage I'd mostly (only?) played as Zangief and obviously wasn't sure about everything.
Basically its more of the same but perhaps better explained anyway here is the copy & paste for you:
Seán's Seth Tips:
Round 1
Seth will almost always do his Dhalsim punch which needs to be low blocked, jumped over or Focus cancelled.
Get in close to Seth by timing a jump over his arms and use a lk or mk for priority.
Once you are in close hit mp&mk to start to charge a focus attack.
He should try to punch, which the super armour will take care of, continue to build the focus attack to level 2, you will flash white once and be inky.
Let go of this as he is about to attack you again and as it hits dash forward.
(some characters such as Zangief do not need to dash)
Use a move which will leave you close but not right beside seth on his wake up
example a low hk or Zangiefs suplex. if you use the spinning pile driver you will need to dash back in afterwards.
As Seth is about to get up, charge the focus again, absorb the hit and let go.
Rinse repeat. try to build up as much super as you can.
Round 2
Seth is much tougher in this round
At full screen distances he will use sonic booms, note these are higher than guiles.
If he has ex he will use it, making focus cancelling across the screen impossible, a well timed jump with possibly a back dash is useful here.
At mid distances he will often use the dhalsim arms or at closer range a variety of light and medium punches followed by them.
the arms are super punishable especially by ultras.
Chun li's ultra for instance (as well as her super as far as I remember) will beat it on start up and recovery.
Seth has a move where he goes grey and sucks you towards him.
Crouch block.
If you block straight he will sweep. he should try his dragon punch or ex dragon punch, obviously very punishable if blocked.
You may also interrupt him with light attacks but its tricky. command throws are good here.
When close to seth any standing or crouching hit will probably be focus cancelled (he will absorb the hit and either crumple you or cancel into another move such as his pile driver)
so if you are going to punch him use quick attacks or links.
e.g. lp,lp.
the first lp will be absorbed but the second will hit Seth quick enough before he ***** you.
as basic as it sounds just walking forward hammering lp can end up winning a round for you.
If Seth is knocked down his most likely move will be the machine gun kick.
This move is armour breaking so if you are using the focus attack or a move with super armour eg Zangief's Ex Flying Powerbomb he will go through you for a shortcut.
Other wake up moves are the ex machine gunkick and regular and ex dragon punch.
What I would suggest to do block, dodge or teleport.
If Seth knocks you down and he will...he will almost always teleport sometimes 2 but usually 3 or 4 times.
I feel he uses the stick input you give to decide which side to telport to e.g. you are holding block, he'll teleport to the opposite side and smack you.
So don't hold in any direction but try to react instead.
Same goes for wakeup spd or dragon punch.
If you can react with a block then punish, reckon that's a safer bet.
That about covers that for now.
That's just from memory and it's not gospel but try some of that out and let me know how you get on. - IamNomad, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4↓, ↘, →, punch
- Bulletbillx, on 07/15/2009, -2/+6actually thats already in as the difficulty setting.
only problem is the bosses are playable in 2 player mode where they throw off the balance a bit but not much judging from this
"Vega and Dan, the bottom-ranked characters in SF IV, win 66% as often as Sagat, the top-ranked character. The four or five characters after Sagat are less than 10% less winning. The winning differential between Sagat and Ryu/Balrog/Zangief is less than the winning differential between Ryu and Ken.
