- firefly2271, on 10/12/2008, -29/+199Cow of Duty: The Milking.
They must be running out of wars by now. Infinity Ward aren't making it, that sounds bad.
It never works when a long running series changes developer. - Adrnshw6, on 10/13/2008, -12/+164Not made by Infinity Ward? Then it's not a real COD game. I'll pass.
- dansmeek, on 10/12/2008, -18/+160wasn't sure about going back to WW2.... but it sure looks like a blast.
- b3owulf, on 10/12/2008, -5/+76Well, the AI looks pretty terrible - Good thing all I will really care about the multiplayer. I hope they use some sort of lobby system way better than COD4.
- MCA2142, on 10/13/2008, -12/+79This is "World at War." And NOT CoD 5.
World at War isn't made by Infinity Ward, and is only just a fund raiser for CoD5. - woofers07, on 10/13/2008, -6/+67Call me when Infinity Ward is back in the mix.
- Lou3000, on 10/13/2008, -7/+64CoD4 with a CoD3 skin set in Medal of Honor Pacific Theater.
Give me James Bond. - zakazmi, on 10/12/2008, -35/+81The question is, how good is it compared to the COD4. COD5 is not made by infinity ward. According to someone (in the gaming industry) who i spoke to today and who has played both Call of Duty 5 and the new James Bond Game based on the new movie. Apparently the James Bond Game is excellent, incidentally it is also made by Infinity ward aka makes of COD4 and it is based on the COD4 engine. His ratings of COD5 weren't that good one of his main complaints was that it was not as responsive as COD4.
- birch25, on 10/13/2008, -3/+45first off, this isn't COD5. second, this is not at all the first time a COD game has been made by a seperate developer.
Call of Duty - Infinity Ward
Call of Duty PS2/GC/Xbox games - outside dev
Call of Duty 2 - Infinity Ward
Call of Duty 3 - outside dev
Call of Duty 4 - Infinity Ward
Call of Duty: World at War - outside dev
nobody should be surprised that Infinity Ward isn't making this game. - Buckeye17, on 10/13/2008, -1/+41You're the first person I've heard say COD3 is good.
- inactive, on 10/13/2008, -4/+42why do you even use words at this point.
QoSiabmbtsptamCoD:WaW. - Ultomato, on 10/13/2008, -4/+41what is this? call of duty 3.5?
- cmgriffi, on 10/13/2008, -0/+35dude you are wrong. james bond is not made by infinity ward
- RansomHoldiay, on 10/13/2008, -0/+31one man army games are getting kind of old.
- Ravenlark, on 10/13/2008, -4/+30Yay. More Nazis.
- Darren05, on 10/13/2008, -2/+28CO-OP play mode looks like it could be interesting.
That better have been on rookie mode, see the way he just walked upto some of those guys with a shotgun???? - noobeffect, on 10/13/2008, -8/+33Let me explain some of it's noticiable features before everyone concludes that it's a CoD4 mod. This version of CoD will come with co-op, 3 different versions of co-op to be exact. The normal singleplayer campaign gametype, an arcade type that is described as a type where players compete for points while going through the campaign and the information for the last type hasn't been released.
CoD:WaW will have vehicle gameplay included in multiplayer, tanks, a type of gameplay that IW HASN'T included in ANY of their CoD games despite the fact that other developers have been successful doing in that. WaW will include gametypes like War (think Domination except you have to capture points in order) and CTF, neither of which was included in CoD4 but was in previous CoD titles.
CoD:WaW will have a similar ranking and XP system that CoD4 had. Alongside the same perk system, there are some new additions to accommodate the new weapons such as the flare and there are others that allow the ability to revive teammates that are in LS to promote actual teamwork within multiplayer and there will be an addition perk slot for vehicles, meaning 4 slots.
Relatively speaking, assuming that all of the features that have been discussed will be in the released product, World at War will have the most content packed in ONE CoD title than any other in the franchise. That could not have been said about CoD4 prior to it's release. To say that CoD4 was packed with enough content to warrant a full purchase would be laughable because you aren't taking into account previous CoD titles and the gameplay they offered. IW purposefully gave you a portion of a product that had gametypes and gameplay features left out, then put a ranking system in it to lure the noobs into thinking that they were gaining something by ranking up an additional 10 times. WaW will have MUCH more gameplay content than CoD4. I mention all of this because TA (the developer of the CoD before CoD4) only had less than a year to develop their previous CoD title, though great in it’s visuals it didn’t perform in stability. It’s being mentioned that some members of IW are helping TA in developing this and this time they’ve been given around the same amount of time to develop WaW as IW did to develop CoD4. - s4g4n, on 10/13/2008, -1/+25I loved battlefield vietnam, why not a Call of Duty vietnam, anybody?
- Postalwrker27, on 10/13/2008, -2/+24The "Modern Warfare" one ain't going to hot if you haven't noticed already...
- JollyDumple, on 10/13/2008, -11/+32I might as well say it before people start whining about the title. The game's called Call of Duty: World at War, not Call of Duty 5. CoD 5 will probably be made by the guys who made CoD 4. That said, this game looks really cool.
- Carv, on 10/13/2008, -1/+22I've been playing the beta recently, the lobby system is exactly the same as CoD4. Sorry.
- idc5, on 10/13/2008, -1/+22Because we lost that war.
- MrWally, on 10/13/2008, -4/+23Damn. Are you sure it isn't the go-kart?
- Discobiscuits, on 10/13/2008, -1/+20The man speaks the truth.
- trafficlight, on 10/13/2008, -1/+19I want to see Call of Duty: Alaska versus Russia
- noobeffect, on 10/13/2008, -3/+21QoS is acutally being made by the same people that are making CoD:WaW.
- donkz, on 10/13/2008, -0/+18Brightness and gamma need to be upped by a half.
I don't know why developers think it's fascinating to play a game when you cannot see sh1t. - Kidsturk, on 10/13/2008, -0/+17for 'outside dev' read Treyarch.
- inactive, on 10/13/2008, -1/+18I'm getting too old for this *****.
- Adrnshw6, on 10/13/2008, -1/+18The Kar98 was issued to the German army, not the Russians...
- cathpah, on 10/13/2008, -3/+20what'd you expect when you bought a wii? it has radically different controls and very basic graphics compared to 360s or PS3s.
I own a wii also, but I don't expect the same level of gameplay out of it as I do on my 360 - MyNameIsGusto, on 10/13/2008, -2/+18Nazis, I hate these guys.
- MikeMitchell, on 10/13/2008, -4/+20I'll consider picking of the next COD game made by Infinity Ward. Which COD5 is not.
- inactive, on 10/13/2008, -3/+18Honestly - it looks like any old CoD game. Better graphics, perhaps, but the gameplay looks virtually untouched.
- Sakumi, on 10/13/2008, -5/+21Oh, ww2 again? Didn't they do that.. oh I don't know, 3 times already?
Pass. - h3lx, on 10/13/2008, -0/+13that would rock.
- RMoore08, on 10/13/2008, -4/+18Cool, but I REALLY don't want another WWII game... I think we've already played the war 3 times already...
- StormCommander, on 10/13/2008, -11/+24Developers alternate every game. 5 is the sequel of 3.
- viserov, on 10/13/2008, -0/+13Pew! Pew!
- johnny23, on 10/13/2008, -1/+13Thanks for clearing that up. If these are the guys responsible for COD3 then I'll definitely pass on this one.
- tapo, on 10/13/2008, -2/+14No, CoD, CoD 2, and CoD 4 are Infinity Ward. CoD 3 and CoD WaW are Treyarch.
- jontando, on 10/13/2008, -0/+12QoS was made by Treyarch, the same devs of CoD: WaW, in Santa Monica. Your "someone in the industry" either told you wrong or you didn't understand what they said.
- LordoftheLoo, on 10/13/2008, -8/+19You know they've been switching off? COD and COD2 was IW, COD3 was treyarch, COD4 was IW and COD5 will be treyarch. So yes while they are changing the developer, its not Treyarchs first go at it. And if you think treyarch will ruin COD, play 3, its actually really good.
- webcrumb, on 10/13/2008, -0/+11Tanks? Planes? Submarines? Dreadnoughts? Artillery? Horses? Mustard?
WW1 was far from boring. It's not that far a stretch to move CoD to that time, and there were plenty of "everyone charge" moments to match the Omaha and Moscow moments from CoD1+2, plus many more opportunities for them to go completely *****-up and have the character die on purpose.
Actually, I'm already thinking of a trench mission. It starts with an odd buzzing noise, and you look up to see biplanes fly overhead. Then tense waiting as artillery lands all over the enemy trench. Artillery off. Calls of Gas! Gas! getting louder along the trench - quick, get your gas mask on. Phew, that was close. Then the call, Get Ready! and the whistle. That damned whistle. Over the top we go, running into no-man's land through a hail of fire. We slip down into a crater and lie stunned for a moment. Another odd, loud buzzing as the ground rumbles. A tank rolls over the crater top - we get up and follow it, but it's not long before it breaks down and stops moving. We dart to the next crater, listening to the gunfire and screams of soldiers. We can hear enemy voices now, shouting. If we pop our head up we get hit by bullets so we lay there, impotent, only hearing the dying cries of men all around. Then silence. We fade in and out of conciousness, waking up with a start; it's dark now. We're alone in no-man's land, probably not far from the enemy trenches. Starting to make our way back to our trench we crawl slowly through the mud, suddenly becoming aware of a flare being fired. Its ghostly white glow starts to gently fall back to earth when we hear gunshots - bullets start smacking the mud around our prostate body. Running to the nearest crater we hide, now knowing what to do when a flare goes up, and come face to face with dead men, whose visage fades with the light of the flare. As we get back to the middle of the desolate waste we come across a ruin of what must have once been a house. We pause - something is moving. It's OK though - it's a soldier from our side, he's stuck, he needs some help. We free him and start again to work our way back. Finally, we make it back - to be greeted with astonishment from men, and roundly admonished by officers - how dare we come back without having completed the mission. Mission Failed. Next map.
CoD7: Abandonment of Hope - Refluence, on 10/13/2008, -2/+13Why are you burying him down? He's right?
Treyarch did 3 and is releasing 5 in November.
Infinity Ward did 1, 2, and 4 and is producing 6. - adrenalmedulla9, on 10/13/2008, -0/+10you were there? Holy crap!
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/13/2008, -1/+10I liked the original Battlefield 1942. They have yet to make another Island siege map in any of the games.
Launching or boating from a carrier battle group to bomb or parachute over the island, being able to operate the large naval vessels. Can't be beat. - johnsmith3210, on 10/13/2008, -1/+10Can't wait till COD6. Infinity Ward FTW.
Do you think they'll keep it modern or go futuristic? (hope they don't go back to WW2) - ATLien74, on 10/13/2008, -0/+9I would like to see some games based on some other wars like Vietnam, The Civil War, Revolutionary War, etc. It seems like it's either World War II or Modern Day Warfare.
