Call of Duty 4 details emerge, awesome updates
thelastboss.com — Supposedly Infinity Ward will be returning to make the 4th installment in the series. One of the awesome details mentioned was that while most shooting games has players and enemies heads with two or three critical points on the head, Call of Duty 4 has 16, which will let gamers be able to blow off pieces of the enemy's face one at a time.

- czartim, on 10/12/2007, -34/+1I thought it wasn't going to be a WW2 game?
- icantdrawanime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18please rtfa, its 4 sentences long

"As aforementioned, Call of Duty 4 is said to step away from the war torn locales of World War II, instead focusing on the battlefields of present day. It is unknown if it will take the same path as Electronic Arts’ Battlefield franchise, placing the spotlight on the Middle East." - slasherx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4That's great! COD3 is utter crap except for the massive online games with 24 people.
- EbowUK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+824 people? wow!
CoD2 runs 50+ player servers no problem. Now that's "massive". - slasherx, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3COD2 limits you to 8 people per server. Don't you mean resistance fall of man? If so I agree. A 50 player match will be sweet once it gets here to the US on the 17th. I'm just extremely glad to see Infinity Ward on COD4, maybe they can fix all that Treyarch broke in COD3 including the sniper gun and trench gun and kick back on the guns. I'll just remember to stay away from the odd number COD games in the series since Treyarch will be taking care of those.
- EbowUK, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Erm, WTF?
CoD2 PC has no limits on the players in the server.
Consoles are not the only gaming platform. They're just the gaming platform that's dumbing down the gameplay for the rest of us. - slasherx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wow is that right? I think I'll be stopping by my local gamestop for a copy. I wish I had known this sooner. I had been playing COD2 only on the xbox360! Thanks a lot for the info.
- EbowUK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Welcome :)
And you get to use mouse and keyboard - always a better option for an FPS :)
- DiggityDugged, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5it's not going to be. People are thinking Vietnam or Middle East but it hasn't been confirmed yet.
- Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -10/+28I'm all for realism in games, but do we really need to hail "which will let gamers be able to blow off pieces of the enemy's face one at a time." as a feature? What's next? "Gamers can peel the skin off babies they come across and make a coat if they want." I'm not saying it shouldn't be possible in the game, just that it seems odd that people are excited about it.
- hoppdawg, on 10/12/2007, -11/+7Baby skin coats? seriously, wtf
- pathy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25Baby skin coats? I smell a hot new fashion item.
- unidentified, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I'll take three!
- duzytata, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again
- triforcer, on 10/12/2007, -13/+8why would anyone want to skin babies in a game when they can do it in real life?!
- GhandicapXRS, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Babies are my soup base.
- omgwut, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10"One of the awesome details mentioned was that while most shooting games has players and enemies heads with two or three critical points on the head, Call of Duty 4 has 16, which will let gamers be able to blow off pieces of the enemy's face one at a time."
That's just ***** gross.- EbowUK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Yes it is. Maybe it will go some way to making kids think real war isn't a video game.
On a related note, the server I was playing CoD2 on on Sunday attempted to hold a 2 minute ceasefire at 11am to mark Rememberance Sunday. The number of people that didn't know what this was was pretty horrifying.
Anyone in education care to comment how teenagers don't know what Rememberance Sunday remembers? - schleppo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3EbowUK said:

I'm not sure how to respond to a sentence with such grammatical fortitude. So I won't. - EbowUK, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Go on, try, I'm sure you can.
Hmm, maybe you can't.... - strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sounds like Solder of Fortune. Which came out, what, 6 years ago?
- EbowUK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Yes it is. Maybe it will go some way to making kids think real war isn't a video game.
- MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7im thinking Korean war.
- Tunguska, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1*****' yeah!
- Tunguska, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1*****' Yeah!
- jwasko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would definitely take Korea over Vietnam...or contemporary/Middle East, for that matter. Part of it is can't stand M16 type rifles. Do you know that the Air Force designed was the one that backed their use? Think about it, the Air Force deciding on an infantry weapon? The M14 is much better than the M16, in my opinion.
Also, it kind of makes sense for the makers of CoD to do a Korean War game; a lot of the weapons were the same, including the Garand.
M1 Garand FTW
- enforcerpsu, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16Is it just me, or is blowing PIECES off of enemy faces just getting a bit ridiculous???
- ThetaDot, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9It's not just you.
- kvant, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Yay for flying skull fragments!
But seriosly, let me play on the german side, storming omaha beach for the sea for the 42th time is so boooooooooring.
Or if it is going to be modern day fps, playing iraqi soldier could be... intresting?.- kfconme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I've been waiting to play the "bad guy" for a long time now. How come no console WW2 game has achieved this yet?
I mean, playing one player, being the star of the game: some German grunt. - Hydraulix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9It could take place in Iraq, where you search for WMD's, and the game never ends.
- kilodelta, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1no no, you could buy WMDs for the 360 version. only 1500 MS Points!
- kfconme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I've been waiting to play the "bad guy" for a long time now. How come no console WW2 game has achieved this yet?
- jawdog, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Even the fourty-one-th time was booooooooring...
- bluemist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7And so I have some huge machine gun... I aim at my enemy's head... then when my 30-bullet clip was over, there's nothing left in the head.
Or maybe I can make my enemy swallow a bomb using an improvement of the COD3 CQC system, and see his brain particles fall off according to the game's awesome physics. - Tunguska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This will be gory...
- jbeardsl, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0The game might be good if someone else was making it. IW FTL...
- robertgilbert86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The blowing up of heads in many different ways has been done before by Soldier of Fortune 2:Double Helix.

Every part of each body can be dissected, it's really very messy!
It also still plays great today, hasn't aged too much- tigertiger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First thing I thought of, too. And you're right, it does still play very well.
- Haon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Same here. My friend and I always joke about the first cut scene in the first level of SOF 2 when you are looking from a sniper's pov and some poor guy gets a chunk blown off his face. Talk about having a bad day.
- slash101, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I was just going to mention SOF 2, I hope they make a SOF 3... that would be immense. Although I remember you couldn't actually shoot pieces of peoples faces in multiplayer.
- nipterink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i loved when you shot someone in the gut and their entrails came out...
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Jesus christ, COD3 has been out a week and they are already talking sequel??
Did these guys contract "EA disease"? - charz0r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2What?! Present day battles? Gawd, modern warfare is boring. :(
- djchester, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I disagree. Modern warfare focusing on realism is tons of fun.
Battlefield 2 is the best modern warfare multiplayer game so far.. Ok it's not perfect but still the best right now. Have you tried it? - ray901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Ok it's not perfect but still the best right now. Have you tried it?"
Yes I have, and I found that for me, it to be the biggest load of ***** I have ever payed money for. They absolutely ruined a good gaming paradigm.
Very glad to hear the COD4 will be available for the PC. - riplikethat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just pray that it comes out for consoles first.. why? Well, for starters, developers will get a chance to remove all crappy bugs and features when porting it back to PC (instead of 20 patches later), and we PC Gamers will be happy.. for a while.
Dammit people, I loved COD2, and those bastards didn't release COD3 for PC (not that I mind, since it sucked)..
- djchester, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I disagree. Modern warfare focusing on realism is tons of fun.
- DogmaticAtheism, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, finally a game that doesn't cater to soccer moms.I want realistic gore and violence this generation like crazy!
- malice8691, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Finally I can shoot off the guys ears, then nose, then lips before I plant one between the eyes.
- CrashSpyro123, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Great news, but this was already submitted four days ago.
