- badmephisto, on 10/12/2007, -9/+158Obviously this cartoon is fake. Noone would want a PS3 for christmas...
- AlexRage, on 10/12/2007, -42/+87Kind of not very funny at all...and not because its violent or vulgar, it's just not funny.
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24CAD is usually pretty hit or miss IMHO. the author lost me with the "pay for my short clips" thing. i saw a couple and was wondering why people would pay for them. if they were really good then yeah, but they're mostly not that great.
- mindsnare, on 10/12/2007, -12/+28I think you need to have read ctrl+alt+del for a while to know it's quirks, this, funnily enough, it one of it's quirks, and I for one like it.
- eonblue, on 10/12/2007, -14/+28I agree, this comic was not funny at all. It wasn't making any comments about sony either. Burried as inaccurate. (and lame if i could too)
- razordancer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed at Nintendo's production as well. They could have done much better had they had units on the shelves. If they had shipped 4 million units, they would have sold... The Wii is a great system and has the most amazing viral marketing going through it by word of mouth alone. They really need to step up production in the next couple of months so that they can keep Sony at a distant third.
- inobla, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13The comic implies people actually want the PS3.
- Coon1981, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12A while ago they posted a better comic on the same subject...
http://cad-comic.com/comic.php?d=20061011 - carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8when a console launches with a piddlely number of units, sells out, then has a large chunk of units returned when they won't go for a decent price on ebay or craigslist, and most people who keep an eye out have seen your in store demo units locked up on a regular basis, then you know they have problems.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8You act like you're surprised that a comic is mentioning Sony. Also it's not really bashing at all, more making fun of the fact that people are getting jacked for the consoles.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8When a console DOESNT sell out at launch, that's generally considered a really bad thing.
Every decent console will sell out when first introduced, there is no avoiding it. - JorgeGT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7CAD was very funny... in the early years. Start reading the second or third year, there is good stuff there. When did things started to go wrong? Since Lilah and Zeke I think. And what the ***** is doing Scott in the Maniac-Mansion-esque locked room?
- genforklift, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I liked CTRL ALT DEL back when it was called Penny Arcade.
- slimthps, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I don't see how a comic about the demand of PS3's being so high that people are willing to take violent measures to get them turns into bad press for Sony.
- J6stik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"finds.. time"? Ctrl + Alt + Del rips of every game company.
- xerus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Its a little bit of both. What you dont get is that CTRL+ALT+DEL isnt funny.
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6bantam: "and i liked Penny Arcade before they tried pulling a legal ***** on other comics."
What are you talking about? - Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4PS3s aren't really in high demand, i saw one in fred meyer today and they didn't have a single wii in stock, they had 2 360s.
- dr00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4that was my first thought.
also this sounds similar to someone on a wii messageboard screaming "Sony brings nothing to the world! it only promotes violence!" in regards to the PS3 thief being shot and killed.
I mean that was tragic (and the false scenario in that comic as well), but it is hardly Sony's FAULT and certainly not like they're condoning it.
I don't like the PS3, but some people just take it too far. - TheGeek27, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why did you capitalize every word? That's really bizzare.
- bantam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Oh i wonder why he asks you to pay for them. Oh thats right because it costs a lot of money animate.
Also do people not get the comic? Or is everyone that anti-PS3, ***** Tim has a PS3.
The comic is a parody of whats going on with the PS3, As of the past 2 weeks it has come out that employees that work for UPS stole a few cases of PS3s. There is also a bunch of theft based around the PS3 and its low launch number. ***** did no one read the dam Title of the strip "Ebay waits for no man" - opnickc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't care if they cost money to animate if they suck. That's like asking me to pay $600 for a game machine with no good games!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What other comics, bantam?
- TxDr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Comic didn't exactly hate on Sony, which is more than I can say about some of these comments. I'm still confused why so many people have a hard-on to see Sony's new console fail, which personally I believe the console-war just started instead of ending.
Play whatever you want, in my case, everything. No need to hate imo. - Jpantoga, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Have you read the news? PS3's are getting stolen all over the place.
- h00ligan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5lame comic, hardly ripping on sony at all.
- PickledJesus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As soon as I read the comic I went straight to digg as I knew someone would have posted it because it's anti-Sony, and I knew a lot of people would be bashing CAD. Lo and behold.
- JaceFuse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wouldn't exactly say it's purely hate for the PS3. I'm sure most people realize in time it will be a good enough game machine.
Most hatred aimed at Sony stems from their attitude that the video game market is theirs exclusively and they're going to own it in spite of any compelling competition. Their arrogance implies they honestly feel as if the consumer is somehow indebted to them.
On top of their arrogance, they've made a few decisions for the PS3 that I'm sure most people aren't happy about. Lack of PS2 controller and memory ports is a big one that comes to mind. Trying to get Blu-Ray into livingrooms by making it a part of the PS3 is another.
I think the PS3 will gain momentum, but I hope it stays in a distant third place. Sony has shown they don't mind screwing their customers with assanine decisions, and for that I think no punishment is better than being knocked down a notch or two.
In the mean time, my PS2 still works just fine, and there are lots of great games for it. Ironically, if Nintendo has shown people one thing, it's that a game doesn't have to have the most powerful graphics and number crunching behind it. It just has to be fun. The PS2 has over the years built up a huge library of great games. - TheAnthony, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Thsi was a much funnier PS3 Joke http://cad-comic.com/comic.php?d=20061209
- lolage, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4CAD is out of touch with what the people want, both in terms of humour and consoles.
- lytan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Lilah's Christmas costume was pretty much the best CAD strip in about two years.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Apparently, Nobody loves Sony..
p.s: 2 options: or the strip wasn't funny at all, or maybe I just dont get it. If some of you does, please explain. - TheGeek27, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1CAD is one of the worst webcomics ever.
- daridave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I liked it. Crud, not very original, but... in a "someone was going to do it anyway" way, I think it could have been worse.
- axonal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Its most likely these companies purposefully try to release their units in shortages for the mere need of press. Let's say that Nintendo didn't release it's console in shortages, and had enough to keep some on shelves. Their release week would only have the headlines, "Wii released." With a shortage, they would get two headlines, "Wii released," and "Wii sells out in first week of sales." To some people, see that an item is sold out, means thats it must be good, because everyone wants it. Although, the downside of this technique is possible negative press, if Nintendo didn't work it out correctly, we could see stuff such as "Wii production shortages" as headlines.
Now Sony was heading towards that same fate, until people began to report the demand for PS3 is dying off. So, while they avoid the negative press of having production expectations falling short, they'll either have no new headlines reported on them (end of hype) or more press on how people are realizing how much they paid for their grill shaped gaming console. - Neme, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3CAD stopped being funny a long time ago.
- PirateFSM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone know what software and hardware he's using to do his animation? There's a video on his home page.
- MikeN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Dugg because this has introduced me to Ctrl+Alt+Del, which seems to have gone unnoticed by me all these years. Anyway, I've been reading some of the older comics today and I find it quite amusing.
- Vacantx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I used to love CAD, I've read them all and I still check daily for updates.
However lately (the past few months), the comics have been very bad. It's rare to find a good one now, and if you look at the comic series as a story, it's like reading a few sentences every few days, since each comic barely progresses the story, and he only updates like 4 times a week.
I've seen the cartoons of it and they're absolute garbage, yet he asks people to pay for them?
Nothing lasts forever I guess, everything seems to get ruined one way or another. I don't mean to be hating on CAD so much, it's just kind of upsetting how things are going with the comic right now. - vhold, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"When a console DOESNT sell out at launch, that's generally considered a really bad thing.
Every decent console will sell out when first introduced, there is no avoiding it."
Why exactly does that make sense? Because every console has manufacturing problems at launch?
Your reasoning is exactly why there are purposeful shortages sometimes. Nintendo definitely has worked the purposeful shortage angle before in order to build hype for both systems and games. Your logic that a -lack- of a shortage means something is wrong with a system is exactly why all systems must have shortages, so that the image of worth is projected. - Arni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1>>When a console DOESNT sell out at launch, that's generally considered a really bad thing.

http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=212 - 9mmCensor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Because what you find funny is not a universal thing. Some people appreciate different types of humor. Many people read and like CAD, and I am sure there are people that don't read or like it. Too each there own.
- bokchoi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Finds the time?" "Sony can't catch a break even from comics?" You're joking right? Hell, these days it seems like everyone is making appointments weeks ahead to take a swing at Sony.
After this article, I am almost certain that Digg users filter the words "hate Sony, rip on Sony, destroy Sony" and digg every article in with the title.
Seriously, gamers mad at Sony's poor planning? Not news to me. - DreadPirateWes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you don't think the comic is funny why are you even looking at the link? Just felt like trolling a little did ya?
- Wingman007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...what?
- chewjekhui, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow there are still news for PS3 i think forget about talking it until like 2007 when there are more suppliers and it is too expensive now. The joke is really hilarious
- Eldorian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Since when is CAD digg worthy?
- Optimaximal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think he's confused with PvP
- yohan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They need to find the time to fix their site's broken layout before they find the time to rip on Sony.
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1By summer these consoles everyone is killing over will be sold in front of a toy store for their sidewalk sale for $9.99.
