Duke Nukem Forever should be a hell of a game when it gets released by your logic! - b3mus3d, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31"A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever"
- philomatic, on 02/08/2009, -1/+21you need a release date for something to be delayed...
- Rayonic, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25Grr... Blizzard is always delaying things! I mean, remember how delayed Starcraft was? By the time it was released it was outdated and nobody bought it.
Sarcasm off, the original poster sounds like a whiny bitch. Blizzard has already released plenty of new free content for WoW. They can take as much time as they need, as far as I'm concerned. - djrobo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22Some random site linking to some random blog that claims rumors of a delay. Yeah, that is what I call confirmation... Buried as completely lame.
- Rayonic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Oh yeah, they're really hurting.

The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence". - Tarmanydyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15The 'when it's done' methodology needs to be taken up by more developers, more polish and more quality. Patience is a virtue...
Of course, it's simply a matter of funding the project for an x amount of time, but who cares about money?! - Portside, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14"Losing accounts like rats off a sinking ship."
Erm.. Which planet are you on? - Loath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@dshPls
They haven't even released the expansion yet and you're already whining about having to pay for it? It's been nearly two years since the game came out! Of course they shut down the server for a few hours for maintenance. I don't know about you, but I'd rather give up a few hours once a week than have the game run poorly all the time.
I am glad people like you don't run games like this. Go play some EA games, they're real winners. How many Battlefield games have you had to buy yet? - dbrogdon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Blizzard? Delaying something? SHOCKING!
- Evoguy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Haha "your an idiot"... ohh the irony.
- addisonj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Hmmm... "rumors flying" is a great phrase to have when you post something on digg, not to mention "I am not sure if it is true" so we have a random blog with a random guy saying he hears it might be delayed and this made it is as news? bury +++
- Revacard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Well, this gives me time to get more gold and use the epics that I recently got.
- DanSheldon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6By "Everyone I know," he means himself and his cat.
- archer75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You can't delay something that never had a release date.
- blistered, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@dshPls
I know a factory is not a server, but at the factory I work at we find that prearranged maintenance (yes, sometimes once a week) saves time in the long run. This is Blizz's plan I'm guessing. I don't think the players like the downtime, but I would rather the server I'm on be dependable as it is and have regular maintenance than be intermittent and not have regular maintenance. :) - poracious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@Evoguy
"If you are honestly upset about 'missing out' on playtime during those hours then I think you have some larger issues to deal with."
Yeah, that's all well and good if it is between 5am-11am for you, though. For myself and the multitude of other Australians it turns out to be from 8pm-2am, depending on DST. Completely ruins a whole night of raiding, for one thing. - Kanemura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually at the recent GameStop/EB managers conference, we were told this exact thing, and shown a new trailer with new footage which ended with a big, bold "RELEASE DATE TBA".
- tashpool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This is a no brainer and has been Blizzard's way of releasing games for a long time now. Where are these "sources"? Any links?
This page is scarce on any real information and a waste of a digg. - Ehrgeiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah when has blizzard every done that!? I mean diablo 2 was released early......nothing new guys blizzard takes time and produces amazing games. What is it now 7 million wow players world wide?
- Evoguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Plus they shut down the servers on tuesday (read: work/school day) nights between 5am-11am PST. If you are honestly upset about 'missing out' on playtime during those hours then I think you have some larger issues to deal with.
- Altanar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Random site spouting random rumors.
- Shivetya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4and how many games would love to have a tenth of what WOW is supposedly losing all the time?
I wish I had a penny for every account WOW supposedly lost according to forum experts! - mariusaz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Blizzard has to be the best game company in the world. They have a high quality standard for their games and only release them when they're DONE. I applaud them for this. There are too many companies out there that release crap as fast as they can. I am more than happy to wait as long as it takes for them to come out with a high quality product.
- VorpalK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What color is the sky in your world?
- Araxen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4They just lifted the NDA on TBC. I'm kinda of surpised at this delay if it's for real.
- b3mus3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Araxen -
Miyamoto's logic actually, it's one of his more famous quotes :P not saying that proves you wrong, just thought it might be a point of interest. - sixister, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Rumor = solid fact.
Also notice the question mark in the title: "WoW: Burning Crusade delayed?" - malkir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I quit WoW awhile back due to the lame raid mentality and terrible PvP. They are really taking that game in a direction I can't stand. Anyway, I personally think expansion packs typically break pvp based mmorpgs (obviously wow isn't one, but when it came out I was hopeful it would be). The only good expansion I've seen in a game was shrouded isles for DAoC.
- kalidav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's always been "when it's ready" but they are aiming for Q4.
Buried for inaccurate (no source) - dchaosdx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2and you substantiate your claim with?
- MrFloyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Super, someone took speculation that could be found on ANY WoW forum, and it somehow ends up as news..
- ScottyMo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Am I the only one who found the humor in the site that devotes itself to "everything about MMORPG / MMOG gaming" being called Virgin Worlds?
(Disclaimer: My wife and I both have WoW accounts, and I will be logging in shortly after posting this) - SpazticChips, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It's Blizzard. Perfection is what they seek, and they will spend as much time needed to obtain it.
- TracerBulletNPI, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree to a certain extent. I don't really think the "when it's done" mentality worked very well for 3drealms and Duke Nukem Forever. But in general, it's a good philosophy.
- ZergyPoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's true, but the majority of people who play outside of the United states have their own servers, and dont' have the same maintenance schedule. Sure there are some people outside the US that play on US servers, but most places have their own servers.
- PDelahanty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't believe they cut off pre-orders for the Collector's Edition of the game already...
- overbyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2blizzard has a long and distiguished history of doing this with their games and expansions and it's the reason why they haven't had a bad game in almost 15 years and why their expansions are the envy of the entire industry (starcraft: brood war was delayed several times and is considered the best expansion of ANY game by a lot of respected people in the industry).
Frankly, I would have been shocked if this didn't get delayed.
Anyone saying crap like 'gg blizz' is a fool. I agree with dodlilus - SWG (SOE) was crippled time and again by poor quality expansions and patches that broke absolutely EVERYTHING. Then they completely changed the whole game (I mean basic mechanics) on a whim with absolutely no warning to their clientbase.
If blizzard is saying it's not ready, then it's not ready. If this upsets you, it's time to go outside and throw a frisbee - http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2005/06/27 - or something
no digg - ArmchairAthlete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Tarmanydyn
I'm sure lots of studios would love to polish and refine their games, but few have publishers that will allow them the time they want. - ogre2112, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Notice: The name "Burning Crusade" will now be officially changed to "Burning Crusade Forever".
Progress continues with 3D Realms as the lead developer. - ruprecht, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yep fair enough, I get the same in Oz. But in reality, I kinda like the downtimes as it forces me to go to bed early some nights :)
- dfay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Given the lack of source or even a hint of authenticity, I think the correct response to this article is...
O RLY???
(inaccurate) - doddilus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anyone who says something to the effect of "Blizzard sucks, i quit a long time ago cause they are terrible" has obviously never had to deal with any other mmo company, namely SOE.
Blizzard is doing an amazing job, if WoW was in the hands of SOE, The Burning Crusade would have been out last year, and no where near ready for release. - VorpalK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Only reasons I left was that A) I don't wait in line for anything, and I was getting log-in queues on my server of choice. B) my RL friends/playing buddies decided they wanted to move to a PVP server, and I'm not the slightest bit interested in leveling up in that environment. We had all reached raiding level on our first server.
Most of them were willing to pay to get power leveled on the PVP server. I wasn't, and I'm not inclined to do pick-up groups for 60 levels (soloing on a PVP server to level isn't really an option) so I went back to EQ2, which is quite a pleasant game now that SOE has realized the way the wind is blowing and abandoned the whole "forced grouping" thing. - somnus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Why would you put TBA? Wouldn't you just put "Coming soon"?
It makes no sense. - willowy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They only started the closed beta this month; there's no way they can close it until end of November. The odds of them making a 2006 release date are miniscule. Personally, I'm glad. Don't rush it, Blizz. Take your time. (I'm having a great time on the beta.)
- thepharmacist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah that's terrible. Delaying the game so it can be properly programmed instead of releasing buggy unfinished crap. Boo-*****-hoo.
- VorpalK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"
They haven't even released the expansion yet and you're already whining about having to pay for it? "
well... SOE is about to release the THIRD expansion for EQ2. They rarely have extensive down time, and they NEVER have log in queues.
Blizzard still hasn't learned about "minimum standards of service" in the MMO world. The arguement "Well they have so many more subscribers" doesn't cut it. That means they have so much MORE money. They should be investing it in making sure their service is able to handle the number of subscribers they have, no matter how many it may be.
They're doing a ***** job of that. - sarusa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is the page that intermediate page links to, and as mentioned, there is not a damn thing in here about speculation on whether or not it will be delayed or not. Useless.
http://tobolds.blogspot.com/2006/10/burning-crusade-delayed.html - Jaymo89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2TBC has not been delayed. This is unsubstantiated *****.
