Bungie wants to Continue Developing Software for Xbox 360 - Sorry, Wii, PS3
360.advancedmn.com — Wired News recently sat down with Bungie content manager and spokesperson Frank O'Connor to talk about the big news – Bungie and Microsoft splitting.

- grat2001, on 10/11/2007, -26/+11Putting all the eggs in one basket may be working now, but shows poor foresight. I would hope this is just the media line being feed to us and they actually have other other things in the works.
I look at Bungie as the next Rockstar Games...Everyone knows their main game GTA, but the other games are pretty good as well. They also have plenty of sucess developing for multi platform.- GhostRican, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37That headline is misleading. He never actually says "no PS3 or Wii" in the interview, he only says that they're comfortable with the 360.
- SuperCUBE, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7...which means they won't branch off because they're uncomfortable with it.
- theaceoffire, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Which means that they will only share the 4 star games and not the 5 star ones.
Which is FAR better than none.- SuperCUBE, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If you look at it that way...
- theaceoffire, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Which means that they will only share the 4 star games and not the 5 star ones.
- SuperCUBE, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7...which means they won't branch off because they're uncomfortable with it.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9So you think that Metal Gear Solid 4 only being on PS3 would be poor foresight as well? The reality is that Bungie pretty much made Xbox Live a worthwhile service. Their entire formula is based on a consistent, streamlined online experience for console gamers...which the PS3 and Wii do not have (at least not yet).
- Tiak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1But Sony IS pouring assloads of money into it for the PS3.
- strictnein, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Part of that "poor foresight" is a lucrative and long term publishing deal with MS.
- santasing, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2Well prepared for a digg down, but:
1. I think its hilarious how the Wii fans are being dugg down by XBox fans. I remember cries of "Wii60 FTW" from last year. Sorry, its just hilarious in retrospect.
2. Who cares? Its Bungie. They made Halo. Its an ok FPS, not anything great. Yes it sold millions. But the 360 has yet to turn a profit in 5 years (including the original XBox also). MS is 5 billion in lossed because of their gaming division. Yes they can buy exclusives and all that. But when it comes to knowing the customer, they are just not there.
Yes a lot of 13 yr-olds play Halo 3 and consider it to be the best thing in the world, in the long run its not. When true next gen games start hitting, it would be a distant memory. Bungie is a good studio to turn out successful franchises like Halo, but under MS's thumb, they wold just keep continuing to milk their name, sell a couple more pokemon type franchises very successfully and then be forgotten.
Aahhhh...feels good to purge.
- GhostRican, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37That headline is misleading. He never actually says "no PS3 or Wii" in the interview, he only says that they're comfortable with the 360.
- internetcoward, on 10/11/2007, -30/+6Who cares, I don;t want a Halo on my wii, i am already bored with the one on my 360. TFC wednesday, now thats a multiplayer game. Halo is just a cheap rip off of that.
- SuperCUBE, on 10/15/2007, -3/+20Halo will never be on the Wii, so you don't have to worry. Holy *****, why would that happen?
- internetcoward, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3it was a joke about how all of bungies other games are ***** and that they plan on making a halo 4 and milk the series.
- strictnein, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9So, it was a milk the series" attack from a Wii fanboy? Is that irony?
- Tiak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Marathon was ***** (by the time's standards)?... What?...
- internetcoward, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3it was a joke about how all of bungies other games are ***** and that they plan on making a halo 4 and milk the series.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3A Halo RTS would be pretty sweet using the Wiimote. It would be more accurate and faster than a regular controller.
- Phyltre, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Pikmin is as close as the Wii is going to get to RTS games, I'm afraid.
- mbthompson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I dunno, I think Battalion Wars might be RTS.
- Phyltre, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Pikmin is as close as the Wii is going to get to RTS games, I'm afraid.
- Heinekenator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12I don't see how a non-class-based individual or multi-team FPS is a "cheap rip-off" of a class-based two-team-only FPS. Both good games, but not a rip-off.
/boggle- internetcoward, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3one is good, tfc, the other is just run shoot, get the big gun.
- strictnein, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7You get the Spartan laser (the big gun), I'll take the carbine, assault rifle, dual pistols, brute shot, needler, dual spikers, or battle rifle and I'll beat you every time.
- internetcoward, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3one is good, tfc, the other is just run shoot, get the big gun.
- mandrakeRaptor, on 10/10/2007, -6/+5awww is some wiitard sour?
- SuperCUBE, on 10/15/2007, -3/+20Halo will never be on the Wii, so you don't have to worry. Holy *****, why would that happen?
- SuperCUBE, on 10/10/2007, -20/+11I wish Bungie would see the potential that the Wii has for them, as developers. They could be more innovative than they are now and still more beautifully pleasing games.
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -12/+16"potential"? To use your large muslce control as opposed to your fine muscles? Outside of using your shoulder and elbow instead of your thumb and forefinger, what is this "potential"?
Do control schemes _alone_ make a game now?- AlmostEvil, on 10/10/2007, -7/+5Wow, you mean in order to control the analog stick on the nunchuck requires my entire arm? News to me. I guess I have to press the buttons on the wiimote with my feet eh?
- DarkSamus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4no, amazing graphics alone make a game these days
- logicalnoise, on 10/10/2007, -12/+15what potential? The wii-mote is good for pointing. That's it everything else is just horribly innaccurate and requires way too much effort for simple gameplay mechanics.
- screwzluse, on 10/10/2007, -9/+8How is that even true? It can play games like a regular controller and does not require the use of the motion controls. Your statement is ridiculous.
- s14rider, on 10/10/2007, -7/+10What's the point of playing on wii if you dont play game with the motion controls? Your statement is even more ridiculous.
- steelclash84, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2Because some people have Wiis and do not have 360s? I would say using the Wii control scheme instead of a console controller scheme wouldn't be that much of a stretch, but still far from mouse/keyboard.
- Oogler, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I agree with you logicalnoise, I haven't purchased a Wii specifcally *because of* the controller. Every experience I've had withe Wii remotey thing has been frustrating; not gratifying, for the precise reasons you gave.
- screwzluse, on 10/10/2007, -9/+8How is that even true? It can play games like a regular controller and does not require the use of the motion controls. Your statement is ridiculous.
- Christbait, on 10/10/2007, -6/+6Bungie make pretty games, all games on the Wii are ***** ugly and the controller is an utterly retarded, rushed piece of *****.
- themastersb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3So Bungie and Microsoft broke up, but they'll continue to be friends and keep talking with each other for a while and then slowly they'll talk to each other a little less and then eventually they'll look away when they see each other walking down the sidewalk. *Goes in a corner and cries*
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -12/+16"potential"? To use your large muslce control as opposed to your fine muscles? Outside of using your shoulder and elbow instead of your thumb and forefinger, what is this "potential"?
- ripstuntz, on 10/10/2007, -3/+29And this surprises people how??
- portis, on 10/10/2007, -10/+5Yeah, also, "sorry , wii, ps3"?? Pleeeeaasseeee....like we need another halo whatchamacallit.
- wild, on 10/10/2007, -11/+9Microsoft has first refusal rights. Anyone who thought anything good was going to come from Bungie that MS didn't snatch up is an idiot.
- jfowler27, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4This isn't all that surprising. The most important thing is that they will be able to run the company the way they want and retain any IP that they create. As I understand it, Microsoft is still going to be publishing any games they create, so of course it's going to be limited to the 360 and the PC. I just hope that if they plan to make games for both 360 and PC that they don't wait two years to release it on the other platform (eg Halo 1 & 2 for PC).
- whisperedlie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I definitely understand a big reason why Bungie did this: keeping their IP. They pour their blood, sweat and tears into this stuff, so naturally they want to keep it close (and make more money from it). However, I don't really understand what Microsoft got from this that they went along with it. Maybe they just realized that they are profitable enough merely as a publisher while leaving Bungie to take the hit on expenses for R&D and operations?
- modix, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Microsoft didn't "want" this. Bungie bought their own stock out and gained independence. There was no choice involved for MS.
- jfowler27, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I believe Bungie is a privately held LLC and doesn't have any public stock offerings. I don't know about any internal affairs between the two companies, but I assume Bungie heads wanted to become independent again and MS probably understood that if they didn't let them go the best employees would just leave and start a new company. So, instead they probably hammered out a plan that would be a win-win for both sides.

- samBAKER, on 10/10/2007, -7/+24Thank god I can keep living seeing as Halo isn't going on the PS3.
- SineCurve, on 10/10/2007, -8/+6An honest question: Why would Halo going on the PS3 be bad? I have a PS3 and would be very pleased if I didn't have to shell an extra $450 for an Xbox.
- brianbennett, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Great idea! ...now how about MGS4 on Xbox 360?
- SineCurve, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Yeah, seriously, why not? You would be able to sell the game to more people.
- AydenV2, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1XBots don't have the Patience for a MGS game.
- DarkSamus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3i see progress here among fanboys instead of *****
- modix, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1They're going to end up being almost exactly the same console with the same games eventually. What few exclusives there are now will disappear in the next couple years.
There's no console out there with 60+ million units to sell games to, so they're going to have to hit both of them in order to make their money back (with the Wii's being left to their own games, since they can hardly handle the current crop, never-the-less end of the era games for the PS3 and 360).
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6its not our faults that you bought a PS3.
an honest question: why would you do that to yourself? - battletrax, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5An Honest question: Why would i want halo on another system? I already have a 360 and would be very pleased if i didn't have to shell out an extra $450-500 for a ps3.
- jfowler27, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I own a 360 and Halo 1-3. I wouldn't care if Halo was on the PS3 as long as there wasn't any special content that I couldn't get on my 360. I know it won't happen, but I don't see why people care that much.
- brianbennett, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Great idea! ...now how about MGS4 on Xbox 360?
- AndyVenus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Microsoft still owns the rights to Halo. That's one thing that you can guarantee will never be on the PS3.
- modix, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1There's plenty of decent FPS out there. Trust me when I say I'm not heartbroken. 360 getting decent RPGs would annoy the living hell out of me though. Still can't believe tri-ace is making one for it, considering there's no Japanese market for the 360.
- loganhid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No - it's coming to the PC
- samBAKER, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I know, I didn't say it wasn't :S
- SineCurve, on 10/10/2007, -8/+6An honest question: Why would Halo going on the PS3 be bad? I have a PS3 and would be very pleased if I didn't have to shell an extra $450 for an Xbox.
- johnsweber, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27a developer makes millions on console X, you'd think it'd be a smart decision to continue making millions on console X. if you're good at making FPS, make them on the best FPS console.
- mwalker05, on 10/10/2007, -16/+2wouldnt that be the wii?
- MalDON, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7People complain about a regular controller is too much for a fps. A little wiimote? Jeesh.
- Exhaust, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Wii has 1 FPS that is decent. Metroid. Everything else is a worthless. On top of that the online service is an abysmal failure.
Complaining about the controller being inferior to the mouse and keyboard are one thing but the Wii fanboys fail to see the big picture. Lack of buttons... moving the cursor to the edge of the screen to turn and sensitivity issues far outweigh improved "pointing capability". With my sensitivity turned up high in Halo 3 I'm very close to mouse and keyboard functionality. Not quite there but close. I would even argue that in straight up circle staffing and retaining aim the console controller in skilled hand may win the fight.- zgnoud, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1lol yup decent. you mean the same metroid the game which pretty much majority of reviewers and user herald it as having the best console FPS controls ever; and that it is now hard getting used to going back playing the console clumsy analogue controlled fps's?
- iceperson, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4You could have mouse and keyboard functionality on the PS3.
- gamer31, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah make halo on the PC next time.
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1@ Exhaust:
W T F?
First of all, Metroid is more than decent, and the Wii has exactly 11 buttons plus motion sensing so i dont see how it's insufficient. And to say that high sensitivity on a joystick makes for close emulation of mouse and keyboard is just laughable. you have to be more than skilled to achieve that kind of quickness and precision with a joystick. second, online service on the Wii is not an abysmal failure, it just hasn't been used much at this point in time. at the VERY least you have no right to judge it since very few games support it (and the ones that do happen to do it very well, ie. mario strikers)- Exhaust, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You have to be ***** kidding me! I have no right to judge a service that has been out for almost a year? Give me a break poor Wii online it doesn't have any games.... WHY NOT? Because... its an abysmal failure.
Secondly even the Metroid prime developers stated the Wii controller doesn't have enough buttons.... Might be why you have to press the digital pad down to shoot missiles even with all the stacking they did with the special powers controls.
You're a blind Wii fanboy. Wake up to reality. I have nothing against the Wii... I own one... I'm just telling it like it is.
- Exhaust, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You have to be ***** kidding me! I have no right to judge a service that has been out for almost a year? Give me a break poor Wii online it doesn't have any games.... WHY NOT? Because... its an abysmal failure.
- mwalker05, on 10/10/2007, -16/+2wouldnt that be the wii?
- radda, on 10/10/2007, -0/+56When the description says "Wired News", I expect to be taken to Wired's site, not some ***** blog.
Seriously. Link the source, not the messenger.- Coffeedemon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Hows the submitter supposed to make money by actually linking to the source instead of the same news regurgitation site he always submits?
- joltcola, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13i was looking forward to master chief mini-games for the wii
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13So a game where you draw crayon outline around the Brute to kill it?
- Crosshare, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5@B1663r
I own and love my Wii, but that was damn funny.- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I love my wii as well. But in my package deal, I got Mario party 8 in addition to wii sports and...
Well I'll be positive, and say I love the boxing game. Mario Party 8 on the other hand...
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I love my wii as well. But in my package deal, I got Mario party 8 in addition to wii sports and...
- Lutfesk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11wow, had no idea Microsoft was so supportive. great funding, great results. keep them coming!
- colincornaby, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9They have said however they are open to developing for the Mac. http://www.macworld.com/news/2007/10/05/bungieinte ...
- Zippo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Here's hoping.
- mypenis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Don't count on it. They only said "Never say never". All that means is, "We don't have any immediate plans".
- tarjan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Marathon 2!
- Konrad9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1...Marathon 4?
- nephilimx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0But they havnt used openGL for 7years, really think they would make a new engine just for mac? esp. when they are proberly when they personally can ring up the directx team
- AvidPreatorian, on 10/10/2007, -13/+5Oh wow no Bungie! WHO CARES?????
- mwalker05, on 10/10/2007, -15/+2yea... thats why bungie has already talked about a halo game for the ds? maybe they can make a game with an actual plot next time instead of Halo 1: ok, go to the halo, kill everything. ok now blow it up. Halo 2: ok now go to the enemy ship and kill everything. ok now blow it up. Halo 3: ok now go to the arc and kill everything. ok now blow it up.
oh, and on the way main characters will randomly die in trivial situations that could have easily been avoided while eerie / random flashbacks and tauntings stop the game every 30 seconds.- Phyltre, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Err...Bungie didn't talk about a Halo game for the DS. That was an unsolicited pitch from a third party. Also, feel free to hate Halo but at the end of the day it will be loved by millions of players and played online billions of times.
- o0joshua0o, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1SPOILER ALERT!! SPOILER ALERT!! Warn us next time! Sheesh!
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is America. We blow ***** up for entertainment.
- analogs, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3Master Chief is as close to a mascot as the 360 will ever get so I'm surprised Microsoft didn't hold onto him a little bit tighter.
- RyanBlueThunder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Microsoft owns the Halo / Master Chief IP. They let go of Bungie.
- JordanBlack68, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6who cares
- jlgosse, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Where did they say that they're only going to develop for 360? Clearly they state that they will stick with the 360 and not abandon it; this does not mean they will not develop for Wii and PS3.
- MalDON, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6OP never said they were only developing for 360, just that they were continuing.
- iceperson, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4"Sorry, Wii, PS3"
Hmm, sounds like he did. Owners of other consoles don't care if games they like are exclusives like 360 fanboys.
- iceperson, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4"Sorry, Wii, PS3"
- Christbait, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Nope, it's just 360, several sources are reporting the same, Bungie say developing for other consoles is very, very, very unlikely.
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Not that it matters. I love the Halo series, but Bungie is only one studio. It is a great one yes, but its not like MS relies on Bungie exclusively.
Im very confident MGS will keep more than enough great games in the pipeline with or without Bungie.
This isnt a threat in any way to the Xbox 360 continuing to be top-games-console.- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I also think there is an element of... Why? Why would Bungie do anything but develop more games for the XBox? They already know they can make a 1/3 of a billion dollars in a week. Why would they start making games for a system that hasn't proven its self in that all important financial way?
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Not that it matters. I love the Halo series, but Bungie is only one studio. It is a great one yes, but its not like MS relies on Bungie exclusively.

- mjpatey, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Well, there goes my dream of playing Halo 3 on Ubuntu... :-)
- Eldavidos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Don't give up that dream!

;o)
- Eldavidos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Don't give up that dream!
- badken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10So let me get this straight... this is a blog reporting on a Wired News interview which is available online. Buh?
- Oogler, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3I'm not sure why people care about this frankly. The guy only says they're comfortable with the 360 platform and that it suits the types of games they make. I read that to mean, a) the 360 has maybe 2-3 years left before the next thing hits and b) the current creative model is suited to the 360, (duh), but that could change and likely will with the new hires he mentioned.
Bottom line, Bungie is no longer an exclusive publisher for the 360 and/or future Microsoft gaming platforms, period. If you're pragmatic about this, and think even a little bit, you can see it's the only real reason they would have divorced themselves from Microsoft. It's a first step to other things with the very near future being 360 stuff becuase, hey, that's what they're 'tooled up' to do currently! Just like they switched from the Mac to this they could switch again and whatever they do we can only hope to be the better for it - as we were with Halo. - lukecore, on 10/10/2007, -9/+3Doesn't seem to mention any definate exclusivity in the article. Can't say I care either way - I'll take Super Mario Galaxy over Halo 3 thanks!
- Fuze07, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Funny how a swarm of fanboys immediately dugg you down.
- codehkr, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3Get out of your holes you little nerds... there are more important things in the world!
- dopey420, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Hahahaha. I keep seeing mac fans rejoice in posts about how it was a great thing that Bungie broke off from Microsoft. An how they can go back to making games for the mac. I laughed. You really think after they got a taste of the console money they were going to make games for macs. If anything it will be PCs and consoles. Than port it to mac if you guys are lucky.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Besides, I don't think the mac fans could handle the "Microsoft Studios" video at the launch of the game. Their brains would asplode all over their Macintosh's ruining perfectly good computers.

- Baku, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I like Halo 3 a lot... but holy ***** when will the Halo 3 Digg spam end?
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5A couple of months after the iPhone spam ends... which is to say... not in the foreseeable future.
- NecroSexy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Bungie doesn't necessarily have to develop for the Wii, but to ignore the DS seems silly to me.
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I cant see MS staying out of the hand-held game market for much longer. The kind of interesting things that the handheld can do for the console and vice-versa are too compelling to ignore.
I dont know if it will be some-kind of XNA-Runtime for Windows Mobile Devices (doubtful), or a new class of Xbox Compatible game players or maybe Zune GAME or somesuch -- whatever it is, there is *NO WAY* MS is going to stay out of the handheld market.
If for nothing else, but to help them with Japan. - Tahiri, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The DS is a horrible handheld, Bungie could make better games for the PSP. It's far better suited to the level of quality a next gen console developer makes. CD quality audio, far superior online, widescreen, massive processing power. Im sorry but I can barely stand my DS. I have 5 games for it and 35 for PSP.

Ok I'll pretend you never said that
"I have 5 games for it and 35 for PSP"...
Go outside man, there's things more important than gaming.
- Fuze07, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"CD quality audio, far superior online, widescreen, massive processing power"....
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I cant see MS staying out of the hand-held game market for much longer. The kind of interesting things that the handheld can do for the console and vice-versa are too compelling to ignore.
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Quite honestly, it doesn't bother me that Bungie is sticking to the 360 for the time being. The important part of all of this is that they have the option to develop for other platforms should they choose to.
Add to that, Bungie is not the be-all, end-all development studio. The Halo franchise is a massive success due primarily to the introduction of single and multiplayer first person shooter gaming on the console, and bringing that kind of gaming to those unfamiliar with it. Not to be snooty, but experienced PC gamers have been playing this kind of game since the mid to late 90's. Maybe not graphically or technically as advanced, but the mechanics are there. 1997 saw Jedi Knight 2, which was a major hit on the ol' Microsoft Gaming Zone at the time, as well as Quake II. And who could forget Tribes in 98?
I guess I'm just unimpressed with their portfolio at this point. Not to say that any of it is bad, it's just not particularly new to me.- tacroy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2One thing to keep in mind, Bungie made other very well received games before Halo. One of those being Marathon which was a Single / Multiplayer game that pre-dates your examples.
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Marathon wasnt really up to par with what Epic and id was doing at the time. That said, clearly Myth was probably Bungie's best pre-Halo work.
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Marathon did not contain the same mechanics, though. Marathon was extremely similar in design to Duke Nukem 3D. It took some time to get the mechanics of a fully rendered 3D environment into multiplayer, and Jedi Knight II is actually the best early example of those mechanics.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1One of the things I use to rate onlife fps games is the "Oh thats BS!" metric. Id have to say on that metric, Halo is one of the best multiplayer FPS experiences of all time, on either PC or console.
Also, the match making system in Halo does an excellent, no amazing, job of matching up people with similar skills, so the game is always fun and challenging.
Also one of the HUGE advantages of the control stick, rather than mouse plus keyboard is the lack of precision. NO SNIPERS. Sure people play sniper, but its not like every person on the map is a sniper. It is a much more balanced way to play.

- avihappy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2If they go CP, the games will degrade in quality. Right now they can make use of the special features of the 360, as well as make best use of the hardware. CP games can't do that.
- Fuze07, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What are the special features?
- RyanBlueThunder, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Bungie was instrumental in creating the Xbox 360. Microsoft consulted with Bungie early on in the development of the console.
Bungie was instrumental in creating Xbox LIVE. Microsoft consulted with Bungie early on in the development LIVE.
Microsoft basically went to Bungie and said: "what can we do?" Of course Bungie is comfortable developing on the 360...they had a console tailored for them.
I'm not too sure how the "Bungie independence" will turn out. One of the complaints in the article was the "rigidity" of the development process. However, I remember how sloppy Oni felt. I also especially remember how sloppy Halo originally looked before Microsoft became the publisher (terrible framerate issues, buggy controls, etc.)
Let's just hope the symbiosis between Bungie and Microsoft continues in some form.- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1MS is moving to 2nd party studios. They did the same thing in Japan.
- EnderMB, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6To be honest I believe Bungie is to Nintendo/Sony as Rare is to Nintendo. Rare worked miracles on the N64, but served little for Microsoft. I seriously doubt Bungie could replicate the same success on the Wii or PS3. So far to the majority their only notable game is Halo, a game which, let's be honest isn't the best game in the world. Rare had far more going for them and still couldn't create a killer game for the Xbox 360. If I were Bungie I'd stick to what I could do, and that's Xbox FPS games.
That being said, I'd like to see them work on the DS, preferably something that isn't Halo though. I want to see more original content from them now that they are free from their contract with Microsoft. - Zamfir, on 10/10/2007, -7/+4Like who cares... Halo is lame and that's all Bungie does. I'm not surprised.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Is it "cool" to hate Halo or something? Have these people even tried the game? I'm curious. The game is fun...if you don't like it then why comment on it? If you like Pokemon or Final Fantasy I'm not going to give you ***** about it. Your taste has no effect on my life so why should mine?
- Fuze07, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1He replied to the title. The title says "Sorry Wii, PS3" but in reality, nobody gives a *****. The only reason this had so many diggs, is cause a fanboy posted it, and fanboys dugg him. And watch as a swarm of 360 nerds will purge me.
- mavranos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Pfft! What does the "master of the pan flute" know about video games anyway?
- omgroffles, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Because your taste is helping these companies make millions and millions of dollars, and when other publishers want a piece of that same success, they might be more hesitant to fund a developer that's making a different kind of game, a game that tailors to MY taste.
If EA proves they can sell 50 million copies of its Spongebob puzzle game series, then Activision will more than likely be looking to publish a Spongerob puzzle game series.- omgroffles, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Ah, messed up with this comment system. My post was a response to Nobi-Wan

- Ratteler, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Sorry Bungie, I only pay my hard earned cash for software written for Linux or Mac. But you can shout me when you wake up and stop taking M$ soft money.
- Eldavidos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Lets hope Bungie reads your message!

note: i'm not calling Bungie a dog or anything here. its just a analogy.- Fuze07, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Amen.
- Math, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Bungie's currently developing another game using the Halo licence & they know the 360 hardware very well. They'd be stupid to piss of Microsoft at the moment.
I'd imagine that in the future they'd be silly not to develop for multiple consoles, or at the very least use that threat to get a huge exclusivity bonus from Microsoft.- diggrim, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Microsoft is still their publisher...and publishers have a lot of say in how games get...well, published
- Dracusis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1When Halo 1 & 2 were released for PC did I buy them?
No.
If they release it for the PS3 or the Wii would I buy it?
No.
