- RisingAgainst, on 07/16/2008, -4/+98*****. why? seriously, why?
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -6/+82I am going to toss out a theory on this, it's more than just a new Halo game...it's also about the motion controller.
EGM magazine said it over a year ago; Bungie is working on a new Halo game that will be bundled with a motion controller, see the EGM magazine clip for yourself here: http://arcade-junkies.com/2008/07/e3-2008-set-to-b ...
Nintendo revealed their Wiimote 1:1 add-on before Microsoft's press conference. Why? Because their intel told them that Microsoft was releasing one with true 1:1 control. Nintendo eludes to the fact that they knew others would follow what they're doing several times during their press conference, saying that they can't just sit still on their success.
Microsoft also suspected that Sony was revealing a motion controller, so they thought 'let's see what Sony reveals first, and we'll reveal ours after them on Wednesday to steal back the thunder'.
Think about this last point; every single major Microsoft leak came true (Avatars, Lips, and even the 3D dashboard) accept the biggest one of them all, the motion controller. - ConfusedCartman, on 07/16/2008, -3/+67If this is true, then ***** Bungie's publisher.
If this is a bad marketing ploy to get us talking about Bungie's next game, then ***** whoever thought it up. - wngreenway, on 07/16/2008, -3/+59Wow, that's rude!

" 3. The letter is an image, homepage_04 when previously the site was homepage_03. This means that chances are good it was planned."
03+04=07 i tried to access that on the server.. no deal, there are no images number 01,02,05,06,07,09,10.
Another 7.
The files are also named Reboot.... remember the TV show. - e03179, on 07/16/2008, -10/+44KEEP IT CLEAN
- justiceape, on 07/16/2008, -4/+36From the dude that runs halo.bungie.org (and he should know):
"I can confirm, after speaking to more than one Bungie spokesperson, that this is no stunt, no joke. This is real, and they're as unhappy about it as we are."
So, not a stunt, unfortunately. - Caleb83, on 07/16/2008, -2/+28eludes/alludes, accept/except. sorry, but someone was bound to do it.
- ManicA, on 07/16/2008, -0/+24the text is printed on a white background, white contains the 7 colours of the spectrum.
OMGWTFBBQ! - billjimbob, on 07/16/2008, -5/+27Good news, this must have been planned by Bungie. :)

Message.... - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+20I was positive it was a marketing hoax at first, but now I'm not so sure.
Some people are suggesting that the publisher (Microsoft) made the decision to axe the announcement because there were no big surprises from the competition's keynote this year (Sony). From a commercial perspective they probably decided to wait until "the right time" to show it.
Man, competitive marketing ***** ruins everything. So much for the newly "independent" Bungie Studios. - kinseyincanada, on 07/16/2008, -0/+18also it was posted at 7:00 which i think you also posted on Kotaku
- shunterender, on 07/16/2008, -1/+17Aah, the great Bungie Kerfuffle of '08.
Someday, we'll all look back on this and say, "those *****..." - scott1, on 07/16/2008, -1/+13I think Microsoft is going to end up regretting this.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -0/+12Actually he said he has seen the "blueprints", which links to a movie from Willy Wonka where they ride the boat and all the kids get scared. Who's the worried kids?
But all turned out to be what Wonka promised. - MasterThief117, on 07/16/2008, -1/+12I am dying to hear what Bungie is up to.
I mean, look at my alias. I am a die-hard Bungie fan(boy if you will) - dafin0, on 07/16/2008, -1/+12Clean is far from whats happening at bungie.net http://www.bungie.net/forums/topics.aspx?forumID=1 ...
- strictnein, on 07/16/2008, -1/+12Not sure why you're being buried. A forum admin states that he has seen the plans and not to worry. Seems pretty decent info to me.
- Zyphon, on 07/16/2008, -1/+11"Today's word is kerfuffle. Yes, I know this sounds funny, and it sounds even funnier when you say it backwards, however don't try to say it backwards. I tried that once and ended up saying elf ***** instead."
- SgtQuackers, on 07/16/2008, -3/+13I'm guessing that Microsoft was going to show this game off after Sony's Press conference to steal their thunder. But after Sony's lackluster press conference Microsoft decided to save if for later. That is why Bungie was all ready to reveal it and got pulled at the last minute.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -2/+11Everyone seems to have forgotten...
Microsoft has right of first refusal as publisher of any new Bungie properties. - cvh™, on 07/16/2008, -0/+9there are 7's everywhere if you just look for them...
- scott1, on 07/16/2008, -1/+10Also there is another reference on the page: The timer says 00:12:00:00 or to simplify that:12. In the quinary number system (base-5) 12 is equivalent of 7 in the decimal system.
- theaceoffire, on 07/16/2008, -0/+8And then the children started dying.
Mashed into fudge, squeezed for juice, incinerated/buried in trash, etc. - inactive, on 07/16/2008, -0/+8E3 days are long days, no excuse though.
- BedPost, on 07/16/2008, -0/+8HBO is a fan website. However, if anyone were to know outside of Bungie/Microsoft (MS is the publisher, as confirmed by Bungie) - it would be Louis Wu of HBO.
- reaperer, on 07/16/2008, -1/+8http://www.bungie.net/defaultsi.aspx
Direct Link - Myonosken, on 07/16/2008, -0/+7If they're trying to do a marketing stunt, why would anyone in the company be allowed to tell people outside? Especially one who runs a popular site and would have put it on the web?
- SupaDawg, on 07/16/2008, -3/+10Microsoft is the exclusive publisher for Bungie. Hence "right of first refusal". Quicksilver, you best bone up on your facts.
- Darkangel754, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6Man I still love Reboot, such a good show back in the day
- ericrous, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6Actually, I think we should listen to michaelb323. He's spent countless hours in gay bathhouses, gay bars, and back-alleys behind gay bars--engaged in meticulous research. He has probed every crevice and hole of the gay lifestyle--sometimes for whole weekends at a time. Some of his findings were so shocking they made his jaw drop. And while his conclusions may be hard for anyone other than him to swallow, it's undeniable that the man KNOWS his *****.

- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6Forgot to mention that the source of the 3D dashboard rumor (now fact) also said it would use the motion controller, hard to believe he was right about only half of his insider info.

They can make ps3 games if Microsoft refuses to publish their game. Thus the whole right of first refusal thing. - estvir, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6You're one of the more finer Internet detectives, wiinii.
- Resiroth, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6"UPDATE:
First off, open both of the following pages in 2 different tabs:
http://www.bungie.net/images/games/Reboot_homePage ...
http://www.bungie.net/images/games/Reboot_homePage ...
Now, in the first picture, look to the left side where the 3 squares are (the first saying "ALERT STATUS", the second a picture of the SI, and the third one has a "bar code"). You see the 3 squares I'm talking about? Good, read on.
In that same picture (link #1), to the left of the 3rd square, there is some text, but so small it's hard to tell what it says with the naked eye. Some have said that it says "DEATH ANGEL" (in l33t speak, of course).
Now look at the second picture in the same spot. Clearly it's different. Can anyone with the necessary tools figure out what it says?"
From animus on bungie.net forums. I guess I had the necessary tools ( control scroll lol ) and I think it says death angel. - Vigilent24, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6Ugh I was waiting for the countdown to end, so pumped for their next game to be announced.... The superintendent mocks me!
- cvh™, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5E3 in hex is 227...
o.. another 7!
wow, this list could go on forever. - Boktai1000, on 07/16/2008, -3/+8"As a reader, I can only imagine just how frustrating it is to not have any new information just yet. Rest assured, dear vengeful, hypertense reader many things are in motion. Many things. These numerous things include the following:
* Major changes to the Halo 3 Online experience
* Sweet Announcements
* Poignant Clarifications
* Certain-point-of-view Truths
* Things you will love
* Things you will argue about
* Things you will make angry videos about"
taken from bungie.net, notice the last two, this is all most likely planed.

- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4What's this? Bungie has just confirmed a new Halo game:
http://digg.com/gaming_news/New_Halo_game_Confirme ... - Archfiend, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4Confused as to why people are obsessed with 7? It's in reference to Bungie's popular "pre-Halo" FPS, Marathon. Quite often, there were references to the number 7, whether it be the number of enemies in a room to the number of rooms in a level. Further research of this "phenomenon" can be found at http://marathon.bungie.org/story/seven.html
- chillypacman, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4man this is all so exciting, I wish I was working at one of those companies so my crazy theories about what the competitions had would be taken seriously.
