Zombie hunters unite! How do you kill something that is already dead? - samadam, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24Yeah, they do it every friday. They are great at keeping their fans in touch, and frankie is pretty funny. I recommend checking the site every saturday (sometimes he is late on friday) for the report to keep up to date.
And now I realize I sound like a shill. To prove I am not, I say: "Bungie sucks!"
Sorry Bungie, I didn't mean it! Keep feeding me that beautiful Halo 3 news! - EnterDaMatrix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13"Vehicles and people can wander right through."
- UnleashChaos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13@PauZuri
No one gives a crap about Resistance anymore.
No where near as fun, graphics aren't as good as Gears of War.
Halo 3 graphics are in Beta, Resistance is completed, and it won't be as good as Halo 3 finished graphics- no one is impressed with 1st gen PS3 games.
Resistance is no Halo killer with it's unoriginal design, crap rendering and to many players for remotely strategic play.
Why the hell does Sony want to suck so much at online play? Maybe they are scared at competing with the best online service that is already established.
And most of all, why are YOU trying to say that Halo is *****? Is it because you are scared you have wasted your money on a console with crap games? - Anrkist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12"Why the hell is Microsoft charging 50 bucks a year for the privilege of playing 16 player p2p online games?" - Because plenty of people are willing to pay a small yearly fee to play a game they enjoy.
Not every game needs to have 32 vs 32 madness.. sure, it has its moments of being fun.. but sometimes its just a meatfest with little strategy involved. Smaller groups of people allow for more strategy... and you actually get to know some of the people you're playing with. - gulpy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13You are not being forced to play. So end the bitching.
- Normio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I am happy to pay $50 for live for unified friends list and gamertag and a great matchmaking system. Gears never lags for me.
- NinjaPig, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11@PaiZuri
Yeah i really don't know if levels of halo...even coagulation/blood gulch can have somewhere around 64 players and still be fun
Maybe its just me, but GoW never lags...you must have a ***** connection
its still in alpha dammit...read the article
I think you got it switched... I'm pretty sure its universally agreed that Halo is a standard for fps...and resistance did not overtake it
well see i'm no fan of m$ but that $50 of live service can be used towards other games, or did you not know that? - chaosium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"Halo 3 is no Resistance killer with it's 40 player free dedicated servers and no lag ever or framerate drops even in gigantic 20 vs 20 player matches."
It's easy to avoid lags and frameskips with an empty server :p - Aharoni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Relax, PaiZuri trolls around any Xbox related article and litters it with pro-PS3 propaganda.
The sad thing is that not only he's a troll, he's a very lazy troll. He simply copy pasted this comment from the previous Halo-related story...
... I guess he's just too busy with all those Blu-Ray movies he can play on his PS3. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You had me until you had to plug a PS3 game in its place.
- GorillaCowboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Not sure how Halo 2 is a 'lagfest'. Last time I checked, Bungie's matchmaking system and statistics they gather on host/client speed and connections were second to none.
I have played many multiplayer games in my time, including Gears of War, Socom, etc. and Bungie's overall system is the best I've ever used. - NYJasty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6reload is the bumpers. it was in EGM a couple months back.
- Throrin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Go suck on a battle rifle!
- beckerist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4To my knowledge:
A: jump
B: melee
Y: switch between weapons / dual wield / drop second weapon
X: activate equipment
digital pad: switch between equipment
left stick: movement
click left stick: crouch (with the option for toggle)
right stick: head move / look
click right stick: zoom / visor
right bumper: reload primary weapon
right trigger: fire primary weapon
left bumper: when dual wielding-reload left weapon / switch grenade type
left trigger: fire secondary weapon / throw grenade
Note: I'm not quite sure how to pick up new weapons (previously X) or equipment. Possibly "hold down bumper" or "tap X" vs. "hold X to deploy" (or conversely, hold X to pick up, tap to deploy) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Yay I'm in the beta.. I can't wait to pwn those n00bies.
- enforcerpsu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Halo 3 will be good. I think that is a given. But what the hell is up with all this "x button" furor? Its a button for an action, just like every single other game out there.
When Gears of War came out, I wasn't sitting around going "OMG!!! 1 w0nde3r wht t3h b button do3s!!111???" ReloaD?? Duck!!?// omg!!11 - krazysoccerkid9, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm getting excited for the beta. Sounds like it's going to be a blasty.
- beckerist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3To answer your #1, no. Equipment (as per the newest vidoc), can only be dropped (Versus thrown.) If you have the bubble shield, you can run through it (so you can conceivably use an opponents...) but bullets and explosions would be stopped. Since people can run right through it, I don't see "trapping" someone as a possibility.
- ben27, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@ Derekknight
You're comment confuses me. First you mention the quote "Yeah... don't worry about those sucky graphics that look like past versions of Halo. We'll touch those up a little later." And then you state that it's wasting $120 to buy halo 2.1. I'm confused. He didnt say "we wont touch those up a little later".
On a side note- I might actually consider paying $120 IF a halo 2.1 were released. - NeoCortex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Graphics look like an Xbox game - no one is impressed with that stupid shiny green metal effect anymore."
What part of "Alpha screenshots" do you not get? The screencaps in the video are nowhere near what they will be in the final version. - dolemite5005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'd pay twice that for a Halo 1.1
- OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hey man don't hate Halo just because you were the only person to actually purchase a PS3. It is great to know that you are plugging the only game that PS3 has but the fact still remains that You are the Only one who got suckered into the PS3 purchase. And as for the 40 player free dedicated servers - good luck finding 40 people with PS3 (that aren't Japanese) to play that game. You would have a better chance at getting Al Sharpton away from an all-you-can-eat food bar than find 40 PS3 people.
- zeroooooooooooo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If X deploys things, how do you reload weapons?
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Come back in a year and tell us if your Resistance server is still up and running. Last I heard, your "free" online service also allows Sony to shut down servers whenever they see fit, just like they did for the Metal Gear Solid 3 server (which I heard was a pretty popular franchise for Sony).
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4He spent quite a bit of time running around in space, so I doubt he'd care much.
Still lolled though. =P - rowlodge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2bungie could sell snow to the eskimos...i'll bite
- sinembarg0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Warning: Don't feed the trolls.
- Trevino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ nobi-wan the same thing happens on xbox live. The developers can choose to end online support when they want.
- haveacigar, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5What i want to know about the bubble shield is
1. Are you able to trap people in the bubble shield to stop them getting away
2. Are you able to run them over in a vehicle if they have the bubble shield activated - LMN8R, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Enhanced graphics are absolutely useless if the level design and architecture remains as boring, linear, and terribly uninspired as ever. Here's hoping that Bungie hired a few people that worked on Half-Life 2's design. HL2 was a linear game but at least every single area had a "purpose" in the game's fiction other than that of "n'th random hallway that you can kill some aliens in".
- ScionX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I agree. When I read "the 'equipment' will be quite rare so as not to unbalance the gameplay" all I could think of is the one person who grabs the sword in H2 matches then gets to lunge 50ft for free insta-kills.
- knuckleskin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"the 'equipment' will be quite rare so as not to unbalance the gameplay"
I'm amazed that Bungie hasn't noticed, but rarity does not balance game-play one bit.
As a new player you always run for the rocket launcher, as an experienced player you always run for the sniper. Have they never watched anyone play Halo 2? What is the point in playing if there is someone with the sword. If it is a huge advantage, you make it your goal to get it quickly.
If you are a developer you don't make an unbalanced weapon.
I really really hope this game comes out of the mill ok, but not from the way it is sounding. - soulpiercer7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2screw xbox controllers for FPS. give me something with a mouse and keyboard.
- H1tchh1k3r, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3bubble shield all the ways!!!
- Shabatoo, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6...and in other news, Master Chief accidentally deployed his bubble shield under water trapping him in a sphere of water for over 10 minutes. He is now in critical condition. Whether or not foul play was involved is still under investigation
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Halo isn't the standard for FPS, who said that? Any 'standard' FPS appears on the PC, such as Half Life 2, or UT2004.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2Yawn...
- unloud, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Yup.

LOL... suck it fanboys. You are about to pay $120 for Halo 2.1. - PaiZuri, on 10/12/2007, -33/+3No one gives a crap about Halo anymore.
Only 16 players per game - lame.
No dedicated servers - another lagfest like Gears of War.
Graphics look like an Xbox game - no one is impressed with that stupid shiny green metal effect anymore.
Halo 3 is no Resistance killer with it's 40 player free dedicated servers and no lag ever or framerate drops even in gigantic 20 vs 20 player matches.
Why the hell is Microsoft charging 50 bucks a year for the privilege of playing 16 player p2p online games?
