- rolandvvv, on 08/05/2008, -6/+37Yeah, not for Japan, though, just Taiwan.
- stung47000, on 08/05/2008, -2/+3What Kotaku had to say: "We imagine that means it should be possible for Japanese Xbox 360 owners to import the Asia version and play it on their consoles — that is, unless the Asia FFXIII is region coded so that's impossible."
- rolandvvv, on 08/05/2008, -7/+6But doesn't Taiwan speak a different language? It would comparable to me buying a Japanese import. I can play it, but I can't read it. Not that it matters, there are only 4 people in Japan that own an Xbox.
- chocobomog, on 08/05/2008, -6/+4The 360 version of FFXIII won't be released until long after the Japanese PS3 version is released. SquareEnix hasn't even started on the port and won't do so until the PS3 version is finished. If a Japanese gamer wanted to play FFXIII they would just buy the Japanese PS3 version instead of waiting a year or more for the Taiwanese import.
- estvir, on 08/06/2008, -5/+3Long after? Square Enix announced a SIMULTANEOUS release at E3.
- pronouncable, on 08/06/2008, -1/+4Not that it matters to anyone in America/Europe where both will be released simultaneously.
- JayD16, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7I didn't think PS3 games were region coded.
- stung47000, on 08/05/2008, -2/+3What Kotaku had to say: "We imagine that means it should be possible for Japanese Xbox 360 owners to import the Asia version and play it on their consoles — that is, unless the Asia FFXIII is region coded so that's impossible."
- MCA2142, on 08/05/2008, -8/+7Wait...
Didn't it come from Asia? - oblivionatm, on 08/05/2008, -22/+15That's just gonna make the Sony fan boys even more angry. Hahaha, (go microsoft!)
- Zamfir, on 08/05/2008, -10/+9I couldn't care any less, and I do consider myself a Sony fan.
- punkcat, on 08/06/2008, -1/+15you sir are no fan boy. much too rational.
- laguano, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3That's why he did say fanboy.
@oblvion:
Unless you work for microsoft or own shares, there is no reason why it's funny, i think it just allows more versatility.
- Zamfir, on 08/05/2008, -10/+9I couldn't care any less, and I do consider myself a Sony fan.
- requiem3, on 08/05/2008, -12/+4Yay! All the Taiwanese diggers digg this up!
...What? No one? Oh okay. Buried. - Johnkerry04, on 08/05/2008, -7/+41How is this "breaking"? Its not a big deal since it hasn't been confirmed for Japan.
- migshark, on 08/05/2008, -7/+23Dugg for the babes - certainly not the console.
- KaiSe7eN, on 08/06/2008, -8/+2***** ugly whores.
- chocobomog, on 08/05/2008, -13/+10SquareEnix already announced that the 360 version won't even begin until the Japanese PS3 version is finished. I'm sure the few 360 owners in Asia will love FFXIII on the the 360, but it won't be available to for possibly a year or more (localization alone takes about 7 months for FF games, porting will take longer) after its release on the PS3 in Japan.
- dhVyse, on 08/06/2008, -5/+8Do you make stuff up often or just occasionally?
- chocobomog, on 08/06/2008, -2/+6http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_fantasy_xiii#Re ...
"At E3 2008, during Microsoft's media briefing, it was announced that Final Fantasy XIII would be released first in Japan on the PlayStation 3, then released simultaneously in North America and Europe on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The latter would start development only after the Japanese PlayStation 3 version is finished.[24] A Japanese release of the Xbox 360 version of the game is not planned.[25] The game will be released in Japan in 2009.[3]"
Do some research before making accusations, it was announced in most major game news outlets. - pronouncable, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3What difference does the time it takes to translate it matter to the 360, it's not like the American PS3 version will be in Japanese.
- sweatyyeti, on 08/05/2008, -5/+29This is not breaking news. Buried.

- DeathJux, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2This is the best response to "BREAKING NEWS" I have ever read. Bravo, and thanks for making my day better. :-D
- DarkDays, on 08/05/2008, -4/+10Square Enix makes big bux, 360 owners get to play FFXIII and PS3 owners will still get their FFXIII. Everybody wins?
- CatalystDM, on 08/06/2008, -3/+10Except Sony.
- punkcat, on 08/06/2008, -3/+16and angry fanboys who dont want others to play it without shoveling out the price for a ps3.
- bagboyrebel, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1The Final Fantasy series in the past has been a console seller for sony, so losing the exclusive is a pretty big blow to them.
- Myonosken, on 08/06/2008, -3/+7I don't get why people are bitching about this. Exclusivity blows because everyone loses out in the end.
- Elranzer, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1Except Sony fanboys... they gain something to bitch about.
- redxninja, on 08/06/2008, -11/+7***** FF13.
- BoonTobias, on 08/06/2008, -8/+1i'ma come clean right now, i bought ff3 (6 for you hardcore *****) for like $5 at a steet fair, didn't care for it much, take that kefka!!

- bagboyrebel, on 08/06/2008, -2/+3The story in 7 sucked shortly after leaving Midgar.

- JonyMill, on 08/06/2008, -4/+2They came to see a baseball game, instead they got a raging storm.
- Darkangel754, on 08/06/2008, -8/+5Great, I'm sure the 360 owner in Taiwan will be very happy about this.
How the hell is this breaking news? It's not like they're making a Japanese version. Besides, what Japanese person would buy it for the 360 when the PS3 version comes out (probably) 6 months earlier? - slightlygifted, on 08/06/2008, -2/+3the fanboy war lives on i see.
- otakushark, on 08/06/2008, -3/+4I bury all articles that include the word "Breaking" in the title. Digg is not a live broadcast. Stuff sometimes goes for days before making it to the front page, then hangs around for who knows how long, so it's inappropriate to ever include that in the title.
- cannarymburns, on 08/06/2008, -3/+4buried for breaking
- phoenixp3k, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1buried for lameness...
- digitaldivinci, on 08/06/2008, -3/+1So whats with the yellow controller? Did they announce a 5th color or is that just a Colorware product?
- mach32, on 08/06/2008, -4/+2stunning, absolutely stunning
- mrfreeziexp, on 08/06/2008, -3/+3Way to go Kotaku, you win the most sensationalism headline of the year! Congrats!
- sh0rtstop00, on 08/06/2008, -3/+13ASIAN GIRLS IN SCHOOL UNIFORM, I LIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- max420, on 08/06/2008, -2/+4I just hope that they release this for North America with a Japanese audio track. I always prefer hearing the original dialog with subtitles. It always sounds better in its original language.
- Darkangel754, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2Not always,MGS games and Final Fantasy XII sound better in English IMO
- max420, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1Hmm, I haven't played those games with Japanese audio, so I can't judge. But, I would still like to have the option. Modern storage mediums have more then enough storage space for multiple audio tracks
- DrZmobie, on 08/06/2008, -3/+3Asia is a country now?
- ZackS, on 08/06/2008, -1/+8BREAKING: MY WATCH IS TOO TIGHT, I AM GOING TO LOOSEN IT EVEN THOUGH I'VE BEEN WEARING IT ON THE SAME NOTCH FOR YEARS.
- flapanthers87, on 08/06/2008, -1/+4That chick wearing the Xbox 360 outfit is ***** smoking!
- fmyidotcom, on 08/06/2008, -2/+2Full knowing I'll get flamed for this...
How many of these games can they make?- X9001, on 08/06/2008, -1/+5They have already made way to damn many
- HappyScrappy, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3This is the final one. It says so in the title.
- dig1x, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1Final Fantasy is a brand. Like "Nike".
Now that Sakaguchi-san is making other games (Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey (both terrific btw)), these games have ZERO to do with one another.
They are simply "soaking" their fan base who will buy a FF game no matter how much it stinks. FFXIII is a name, little more, the game has to stand-up on its own merits.
FF means little more than "JRPG" now.
- diceau, on 08/06/2008, -3/+1FO with the breaking *****. Buried.
- eraser34, on 08/06/2008, -3/+5Sweet, now asians get to swap 35 discs of FF goodness!
- dig1x, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1If switching a disc every couple of days (it takes *days* to play through the content on disc (as has been obvious to anyone who's played Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey) is too much trouble, you'll simply be able to Pre-Cache the discs via the New Xbox Experience (NXE) this fall.
So, not only is "switching discs" a stupid fcuking FUD complaint (because, really, you've only got to do it every few days if you play the game non-stop...) but it is MOOT in the NXE update.
Got any more? Perhaps you'd like to bring up the early heat failures?
You do know they fixed that problem last year right...? you know that too right?- eraser34, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Just like they fixed the red ring. They fixed that too. Right?
- dig1x, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1If switching a disc every couple of days (it takes *days* to play through the content on disc (as has been obvious to anyone who's played Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey) is too much trouble, you'll simply be able to Pre-Cache the discs via the New Xbox Experience (NXE) this fall.
- NextGenXbox, on 08/06/2008, -2/+2Breaking News would be something like "_____ Assassinated!" ... not FF13 coming to Asia...
- explainer, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3FTA: "We imagine that means it should be possible for Japanese Xbox 360 owners to import the Asia version and play it on their consoles — that is, unless the Asia FFXIII is region coded so that's impossible."
Yeah, since when do japanese people speak mandarin. The blog author is a f 'in retard.- jo21, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2exactly!
- ComradeRikhi, on 08/06/2008, -8/+2Asian girls are ugly.
Well less hot than others.- ProtossCraft, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1LIES! at least they're not as hairy as non-asian chicks
- ComradeRikhi, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1http://cache.deadspin.com/assets/resources/2008/01 ...
- flickr, on 08/06/2008, -3/+5Not meaning to flame-bait, but has anyone heard any word on how many discs FFXIII will require for the Xbox360?
- Sniper, on 08/06/2008, -2/+3Most likely 3
- jo21, on 08/06/2008, -1/+36
- dig1x, on 08/06/2008, -2/+2Two reasons why it Doesnt ***** Matter(TM):
#1) If BR & LO are anything to go by (they are...), then you will need to replace the game disc about once every 30 hours of gameplay. Not exactly a "disc swap" scenario is it.
If you play ONLY FFXIII for DAYS, you'll be required to change the disc. I played BR for 100+ hours, and changed the three disc game exactly 3 times.
#2) The fall New Xbox Experience (NXE) will have a pre-caching feature. You'll be able to load the game into the HD to avoid disc-swapping (if you bothered to give a damn).
So, the answer to your question is: IT DOESNT FCUKING MATTER.- flickr, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Wow... that was a lot more anger than I was expecting...
- Sniper, on 08/06/2008, -2/+3Most likely 3
- ProtossCraft, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3dugg for the semi-attractive taiwanese chicks
- Sniper, on 08/06/2008, -5/+4BREAKING: The game won't be released for another 2 years and will be irrelevant by then!!!
- diggnationer, on 08/06/2008, -6/+1why the f*** do i care?
- ninewhereman, on 08/06/2008, -4/+0I tried but I still don't give a *****. Not even about the school girls.
- strevoir, on 08/06/2008, -2/+2Breaking news + Kotaku = Front Page
