- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32Maybe it's that we're finally seeing the mansion in 3D, or maybe I just love Resident Evil, but that looks great!
I've never really been a House of the Dead fan, but the on rails shooter set in the Resident Evil universe just fits, and the Wiimote aiming seems to be spot on. Definitely an instant purchase!- seamoon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10This looks fantastic.
I am a House Of The Dead fan, and I think this may take it's spot, until we get a House Of The Dead on the Wii...
The on rails does work fantastically, and it looks like Multiplayer would be immense! - loker269, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10I am still not convinced the shooter on rails business is going to work....but I am a die hard Resident Evil fan so I will probably play it over and over....
- jrathert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I have no doubts that I'm buying this now. It looks great and fun to play. I've really been wanting some game like this to come out since the Wiimote seems so perfect for it... now if we could get the gun attachment.
- Rileyper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5We have been overdue for a new resident evil
- kmckanna, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5I absolutely love the story-line to RE, I can't wait for the 3rd movie to come out, but I feel like they took a step back when they made the game on FPS Railing. The graphics look amazing, a lot of detail and the interactive environment is nice.
I just can't help to feel like it is RE anymore though, ever since the first RE it's been a free walking game for the most part if not all.. Now it's just like House of the Dead.
I still would love to play it for it's storyline though. - kevin45, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7A reason I hate the internet:
These days some kid creates a blog so they can siphon whatever content was just loaded to IGN or whatever site, only to put it through digg via their ***** looking blog in an attempt to get traffic. Just link to IGN since you ripped the video from there. - SeBBBe, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Wow, this video makes me completely reconsider this game. I thought the rails seemed like the dumbest idea ever but this does look fun.
- daridave, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5looks great?
oh, come on. I'm a Resident Evil fan, this isn't what I want to play next. at all. If it was free control, heck yeah! But "on rails" !?
Heck no. Unless they pack-in a nice, slick magnum controller shell... but that won't happen!
- seamoon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10This looks fantastic.
- thehuskerfan, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Wow, it looks like the demo has unlimited ammo.. I remember having to conserve all my ammo and save packs before. Let's hope this rings true in the final game itself.
- jrathert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15"The 10-minute demo of Umbrella Chronicles featured only three weapons: the handgun, shotgun and machine gun. The latter two guns require you to manage your bullets because if you don't you may eventually run out of ammo. However, you have an infinite supply of bullets for your handgun." - IGN
Sorry to at least partially burst your bubble.

- Moebaca, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Same here...If I had a Wii...
- daRoach, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Exactly, why are they putting new Wii games out when I still can't get one??
- aspec, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Because I have one and you suck.
- TheThirdWheel, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Meh, I want a Wii, but I've always hated light gun games.
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Haha, classic RE-style voice acting.
- SpenceMasta, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8im sorry but when a resident evil game comes out i want it to be resident evil, not house of the dead
and one vital feature to the series which makes it as scary as it is, is being able to control where you want to go - uberlord, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3It would be so awesome if the game played like this... it's sort of an interactive video. This obviously isn't done by the wii, they have to have made all the actions before-hand... like the wii doesn't do most of the AI, it's already set animations.
The graphics on this are amazing too... It's like the rail-shooter I always wanted for the wii, except with better graphics and 10x better cinematics and immersion.- zeebo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The Wii may not be powerful, but its not that weak. Keep in mind we are still talking about a machine that is more powerful and which has more faster ram than either the Gamecube or the Xbox. Why do people think that its incapable of doing AI, Physics, or producing good looking graphics? The PS2 was fully capable of doing all three acceptably last generation, I don't know why anyone would think that the Wii isn't.
- HarryGreek, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16Ugh,... I hate rail shooters.
Resident Evil games were good because you can actually master the clunky controls and avoid the enemies - which added some element of strategy.
This makes the series too "arcade-like".- pbaehr, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4As long as they continue making RE games in the original style I don't see a problem with them creating a separate branch of games set in the same universe with rail shooting gameplay. From the footage it looks like this is just a rehash of Resident Evil 1, not new content.
- avidlinuxuser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@pbaehr
The game chronicles that the events that lead up to the downfall of Umbrella. It includes levels based on RE1-3, CV, and never before seen areas. You play as multiple characters throughout the game.
- pbaehr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I would really like to see them figure out a way to use the remote as a shooting device without any crosshairs (more like a lightgun) It seems like this should be able to be accomplished with some calibration at the start. I certainly wouldn't mind spending 20 seconds calibrating before I start if it means no more cross-hairs. Otherwise it's more like clicking a mouse than aiming a gun. Also, the gun adapter for the remote is a must.
- EricAnderton, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4My guess is the crosshairs were turned on for the sake of recording a demo. Otherwise, they'd have to do frame-in-frame with footage (like most other Wii demos) showing what the wiimote is doing at the same time.
- rherbert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That'd be like trying to use a mouse without a mouse pointer. The Wiimote does not work like a light gun.
- Lawr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1rofl. sounds like you've never used/played on the Wii.
- BluntWeapon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0And it sounds like you've actually figured out how the Wii-mote works
- jaxie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I seriously just can't wait.
too bad it seems to have that ever popular BAD DIALOG RE is famous for. LOL- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21I BET ITS MOUTH ISN'T SO TOUGH!
- loker269, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3FOREST!?
- jaxie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I am so excited about this game. and of course the RE4 port is making me anxious.
I am glad they apparently have a machine gun in the umbrella chronicles. - TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Does anyone else find it hard to take resident evil seriously after Dead Rising? Dead Rising made zombies pathetic and comedic lol.
I would much rather see Dead Rising 2 than play this shooter on rails. And if I saw any game footage from resident evil I'd want it to be RE5. Plus house of dead games look ten times more exciting. Sega should release house of dead on the Wii.- InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Who took Resident Evil seriously? I mean ever.
- Rmatic09, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5The classic RE had players conserving as much ammo as possible, and avoiding enemies as best they could. This game looks more like an arcade-shooter than anything else.
- Blue_Eon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not sure why you're getting dugg down, but you are right in your observations.
I was hoping for something more RE4-ish...or maybe even more like the older RE games. This DOES seem like an arcade shooter. I'll buy it, of course, because I'm a fan of that genre as well as a fan of the typical survival horror games.
Maybe, though, that since this game encompasses all of the RE games, then this could one style of gameplay that the game will offer. You know, different styles for different chapters?
- Blue_Eon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not sure why you're getting dugg down, but you are right in your observations.
- cesclaveria, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3this looks great, but I still have my doubts about it being a rail shooter, but then again, some time ago I said "I have my doubts about this over-the-shoulder view"
This will be a nice addition to my wii. - mkarlin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Anyone know if this will feature multiplayer support? I don't know if I could handle the scariness of it all on my own.
- Epyn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's fairly obvious from the demo that it will be 2 player like house of the dead (based on the two protagonists in the cut scenes, and how both of them dialogged).
- Epyn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's fairly obvious from the demo that it will be 2 player like house of the dead (based on the two protagonists in the cut scenes, and how both of them dialogged).
- krakkinem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8To me this looks like more of a step backward rather than forward. House of the Dead was fun occasionally (10 years ago) but I don't want Resident Evil going that same path.
- artemus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@krakkinem
Relax, this is merely a spinoff, not a true RE game. I'm sure that Capcom will realize the error of their ways, and introduce a true sequel to Resident Evil.
Until then, there's always Resident Evil 4- the wii edition. - Rogpog777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I always thought the same thing, how this game looks to be a step backward. If they wanted to get the most out of their money on this, Capcom probably should have released like this: RE, yadda yadda yadda, a game like RE: UC, THEN RE4. It just seems like it would have made more sense and that this new game may not make as much cash as the earlier games.
- artemus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@krakkinem
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Didn't they already try this with Resident Evil: Dead Aim and Resident Evil: Survivor and both of them sucked zombie balls.

http://uk.gamespot.com/ps/action/residentevilsurvivor/index.html - supremo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I can't help it.. but it looks like Resident Evil 4 is better game IMO.
RE4 is one of the best console games I've ever played. I rounded it twice.
I'm actually a little disappointed.. I wanted Umbrella Chronicles to be on par with RE4 or better- wiii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ACK.
I think they didn't want to harm RE 4 Wii Sales with an "essentially the same, but better" game at the same time, so they put this one on rails. However, looks like fun.
- wiii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ACK.
- grumbel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The graphics them self are pretty good (assuming that its really realtime and not a prerendered video with some 3d models mixed in). The whole hit feedback on the enemies however is just awful, I have seen better on my N64/PS1, and the whole action also looks rather boring. I mean, its a rail shooter, so they better have some interesting action going for it, just slowly walking through a mansion doesn't cut it.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They need to take some notes from house of dead. This looks incredably boring.
- InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It would appear that the head is the only destructible part on the zombies. Since this one is on rails (which means you can't suplex or kick their heads apart) it would be nice if you could blow off limbs or parts of their torso. Seems like it might get boring kind of fast.
- CameronHigh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hope its easier to shoot than that demo made it appear. Looks like spray n pray...
- Obsession88, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1That really does look hot!!
- Frisbinator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10My two cents: This isn't going to be anything extraordinary.
- cesclaveria, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5yeah, sadly this is not another RE4 :(
- InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5When they said it was using the RE4 engine, I was hoping for so much more. :(
- autoacat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Its amazing how in a matter of a single week, I'm looking more forward to Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition than I am Umbrella Chronicles. I really wonder why they can't just make a new Resident Evil title from the ground up using the RE4 engine and the control scheme they've come up with for it. Umbrella Chronicles could wind up being a sleeper hit but in its current state it needs a bit more depth to it (compared to the five year old Time Crisis 2, you can't even take cover). At least the graphics are good, I'm loving that bump-mapping on that snake.
- avidlinuxuser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's a 15-20 hour game according to Capcom. We probably haven't seen everything. As a matter of fact, we have only seen a small portion of a single area.
- o0joshua0o, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Don't worry. If the Wii remake of RE4 sells well, I'm sure they'll eventually bring RE5 to the Wii.
- zeebo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1More true than you know. If the Wii winds up selling more machines than the Xbox360 or the PS3 we're likely to see a lot of ports to it of games that didn't do as well as expected on those systems. I actually wouldn't at all be surprised if we even see PS2 ports of next-gen games.
- wout, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4This sucks
- JoshVanDanger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1awesome...friggin awesome. And if people think it sucks so much, why bother posting at all!?
- Zamfir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Looks bad... plays even worse. Rails!? Seriously...
- GenoBaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I read many threads and heard podcasts dissing this game... saying that this is just a House of the Dead clone... but I liked House of the Dead in the arcade so i wouldn't mind another game like it or even better. I'm looking forward to this as well the RE4 Wii Edition. I still can't wait to see anything from the RE5 for the PS3. As you can tell I'm an RE fan.
- evilinside2020, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1im not feeling this game. too may bad memories of resident evil: dead aim. it looks more of a sequel to that side series than anything else. these movies completely shattered my expectations of what i wanted it to be (which was more RE4-ish rather than RE:Dead Aim-ish) i guess i'll be watiing for RE5 cause this will not do.
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Holly ***** this is going to suck. I was so excited when the Wii was announced, one of the first games I thought about was RE, I imagined you being able to move around your character and shooting like in real life; it would have been terrifying. This is just BS..
- araknidkid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did anyone else notice the animations and sound effects taken from RE4? The dying animation where the zombie kneels down and then falls forward is taken from RE4, and alot of the zombie noises I recognized from RE4 and Dead Rising. I hope they'll use custom sounds and animations; they've definately got the time for it.
