- Ramzy, on 11/05/2009, -8/+97IW know how to make great trailers. It's a shame they ***** the PC version up so bad.
- AndrewDB, on 11/05/2009, -26/+104Who cares about Modern Warfare 2 anymore?

They ***** over the PC crowd, they don't deserve the money.
The PC crowd is who made them what they are today.
Call of Duty the ORIGINAL game was released for PC on October 29, 2003.
It was re-released for the Playstation and X-Box, November 10, 2009 and this is the way they repay us loyal PC gamers?
No ***** thank you. - dvsbastard, on 11/05/2009, -5/+59As someone who games primarily on my console these days - I can't wait to get this game! It looks amazing!
Although as someone who grew up on PC games, I can't help but feel a bit of resentment towards IW for turning their back on the once loyal PC market... - philomatic, on 11/05/2009, -7/+58FPS's are better on PC
- meed, on 11/05/2009, -16/+63This is one PC gamer that isn't going to be fooled by fancy trailers for games that lack standard features that make PC gaming superior.
- BadBoyFTW, on 11/05/2009, -3/+42I think the worst part is how Infinity Ward seem to think this is all for the better.
I think that all of us PC gamers would feel a lot better if they just said "Modern Warfare 2 is not coming out on PC". - KB925902, on 11/05/2009, -4/+35I'm going to have fun stealing this game.
- SurrealDream, on 11/05/2009, -2/+32Were they....on a space station?
- daviz0, on 11/05/2009, -1/+28but did you not hear, you can use a mouse and optimise graphics settings and everything
- bostondrummer1, on 11/05/2009, -3/+27I hear a certain bay of pirates is giving the single player away for free.
- ibleeddukeblue, on 11/05/2009, -16/+40Modern Warfare+Space=Win
- AndrewDB, on 11/05/2009, -1/+19When IW jumped the shark.
- villainstyle, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1850,000 people used to digg here, now its a ghost town.
- DarQraven, on 11/05/2009, -2/+19Come on. You really think dedicated servers would cost more to implement than their whole IW.net thing?
And a console? Was already in there, by all probability, for development purposes.
This is ALL IW's fault. There is simply no justification besides greed. - johnsmith3210, on 11/05/2009, -0/+15Because we WANTED to pay them for the awesome multiplayer, until of course they ***** it up. I was excited not just by the single player story, but endless hours of multiplayer that I would have originally enjoyed. I still play MW1 today because it's the best online FPS (yes there are other good ones, that's not the point right now). There are heaps of local servers where my ping is 15 - 45. With the new system I'll have to be at the mercy of someone else' upload speed? ***** THAT *****!!!
- mcraiha, on 11/05/2009, -13/+27Eminem - Till I Collapse
- MattyC69, on 11/05/2009, -5/+17But Phil is right. They have to 'dumb' FPS games down for Console because you have to move thumbsticks around and stuff just to aim. It's not intuitive in the slightest. PC > Any console with regards to FPS. But Consoles are much better for fighting games and 3rd person adventures like Drakes.
I think what annoys most PC gamers is that IW is taking away the only sort of high ground PC gamers have, with regards to game types (FPS etc). And what's worse is that its all about the money, and absolutely nothing to do with the type of platform, settings, Multiplayer options, dedicated servers etc or anything.
It's all just about the money. And consoles are where the money is. Easy to buy for kids, easy to use for kids, kids get mom and dad to buy them games for birthdays and Christmas and kids put in the game and play. Its easy. Easy for kids, easy for parents, easy for retards. Thus, most of the money is spent on consoles, and any business goes where the money is, regardless of moral integrity or anything. - BadBoyFTW, on 11/05/2009, -6/+18Another huge plot point ruined in a trailer. Whoopie.
I wish developers (and Hollywood) would quit doing this *****.
We want to PLAY the game to find out the plot, not watch a trailer six months before release which ruins it. - doomestic, on 11/05/2009, -12/+24Not gonna get a dumbed down PC version, and I am definitely not gonna get a console for this *****. I'll pass.
- tgc1, on 11/05/2009, -4/+15Meh.
// Goes and plays NES. - HAL90000, on 11/05/2009, -0/+11Space terrorists.
- SummerofGeorge, on 11/05/2009, -0/+11yes, optimize graphics with 3 possible settings!!!
- MonkeyNews, on 11/05/2009, -1/+12I remember when COD: World at War came out and everyone gave Treyarch ***** about not being up to IW's standard.
Where is your god now? - colto, on 11/05/2009, -4/+14Reward them if they deliver on multiplayer, NOT for a butchered game. That would only support the idea that they did the right thing.
- MAGZine, on 11/05/2009, -13/+22I won't be buying it.
-No Console
-No leaning
-No dedicated servers
-No Mod support
-No clan play
-9v9 cap
-FOV lock (locked at 65°)
-5 sec host migration delay (when the host leaves)
-No spectating (everyone in game must be playing)
-No kicking in ranked matches
-$59.99 price tag
-UTTER *****.
I hate anyone who guys this game for the PC. You're just shooting PC gaming in the foot by accepting this garbage and saying 'Yeah, ok, I will buy games like this". Developers/Publishers will see that and be sure to continue publishing games like this... probably more w/ the $59.99 pricetag. - cdietschrun1, on 11/05/2009, -0/+8***** SPACE
- chaos7, on 11/05/2009, -3/+11our UAV is online!
- ExSlashdotter, on 11/05/2009, -0/+8Modern Warfare came out in 2007, btw.
But there's still a ton of people (including me) that play it online regularly. Its not too late. - BadBoyFTW, on 11/05/2009, -5/+13It's that kinda comment which seperates gamers into two different camps. We don't need to be doing that now.
What we do need to be doing is uniting against ***** developers like Activision and Infinity Ward. Sooner or later Console Gamers are going to be whinging about a similar drastic change to their games and we need to fight it with the united power of ALL gamers, not just one section of our community.
United we stand, divided we fall. - askantik, on 11/05/2009, -2/+9So true... I can't see any way in the world it would cost less to implement a brand new IW.net system than to have dedicated servers.... Especially when you would have at least 20k servers (that's how many are on MW1 after 2 years) and a copy of the game has to be sold for each one...
- BadBoyFTW, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7That's retarded logic.
Why don't I just say;
Teasers = Tease
Trailers = Trail
A good trailer is supposed to give away the premise of a film, not the plot. "This is dan going about his daily life, but he's got flippers for legs"; thats a premise. "This is dan, hes met a girl who likes him despite his flippers, here are several of the funny situations they get themselves into" that's a ruined film.
Most of the original District 9 trailers show this well.
And don't even get me started on the ***** Twilight trailers. Condensed the entire film into 2 minutes, which was even more painful than being forced to sit through the entire film. - LinuxCobra, on 11/05/2009, -1/+7while I agree mainly because of my CS 1.6 and Source days... Console gamers should not be the ones to blame. If anything it is either the developer or publisher that makes those calls. If you want to show them how bad they will do in sales for PC genre then do not buy the game. They will see the numbers and know that there is significant drop in PC sales for a reason.
- lennybird, on 11/05/2009, -3/+9Well, that chart settles it. I'm not buying MW2.
- Madcow17, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6I could say the same about your mother.
- MAGZine, on 11/05/2009, -7/+13I won't be buying it.

- 3nder99, on 11/05/2009, -2/+8"Mackey-IW: No, PC has custom stuff like mouse control, text chat in game, and graphics settings."
"Mackey-IW: The max number of players on all platforms are 1v1 through 9v9. This is the number of players we focused on when we were balancing map size, perks, classes, challenges, etc."
"TheNinthAxis: Is there lean in PC multiplayer.
Vince-IW: No."
"LaGgY_42o: What kinds of pings did you get during your IWNet testing and what do you say is an acceptable ping?
Mackey-IW: I've been playing mainly with around 100ms ping and it was great."
So they steal the AC-130 and nuke from the modding community, then destroy the modding community. Considering COD4 was a culmination of ideas from the modding community I think we are seeing the end of the COD series as far as new ideas go.
Enjoy the lagtastic 9v9's. - agbullet, on 11/05/2009, -1/+7You really should. You're missing out. I believe Steam has a sale on if you're still interested.
//this is coming from a guy who's just about ready to kill someone at IW over the joke that is MW2 - dougdangerdoo, on 11/05/2009, -4/+9its much better with no volume
- phpirate, on 11/05/2009, -1/+6HOLY *****! THE PC VERSION GETS MOUSE CONTROL??? TEXT CHAT??? GRAPHIC SETTINGS???
Truly, these features are worth your 60 dollars. - AndrewDB, on 11/05/2009, -6/+11Funny this article:
Before Call of Duty 4 was released, it was predicted to sell even more copies than the highly successful Halo 3; it had received reviews as high as Halo 3's, it was launching on three systems as opposed to one for Halo 3, and demand for the game led to a wide range of retailers only having enough available to satisfy pre-orders. It fulfilled the prediction and the Xbox 360 version became the best-selling video game in the United States from November 2007 to January 2008 according to the NPD Group. In the US, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions sold 1.57 million and 444,000 units, respectively, in November 2007 1.47 million units of the Xbox 360 version were sold in December 2007; the game sold 331,000 copies for the Xbox 360 and 140,000 copies for the PlayStation 3 in January 2008. The Xbox 360 version was the third best-selling video game of 2007 in the U.S. with 3.04 million units sold, behind Halo 3, which sold 4.82 million units, according to the NPD Group. By January 2008, Call of Duty 4 had sold more than seven million copies worldwide, and was the best-selling game of 2007. On June 3, 2008, Infinity Ward reported that Call of Duty 4 had sold over 10 million units. During a May 2009 conference call, Activision announced that the game has sold 13 million copies.
From Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_of_Duty_4:_Moder ... , says that the PC version actually sold more than BOTH the XBox 360 AND the PS3 versions combined. - teamr, on 11/05/2009, -6/+11i'm sure you will.
your the $10 map pack buying, take whatever they give me, dumbed down experience, console retard they pander to these days.
MW2 is right up your alley! - phpirate, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5IW started on PC, our feedback is what make it into the franchise it is today, and now they screwed it up. Sure the game gets pirated, but really? It's not that ***** bad as you make it out to be.
I bought Cod4, if someone pirated that game I'm personally not responsible for that, and really, I'm not buying MW2, so making ***** games isn't going to pay their bills either. I'm not exactly sure why you think I should be blaming myself when I buy copies of good games. - phpirate, on 11/05/2009, -3/+8Enjoy your single player experience which you'll finish in one night. Maybe two if you suck balls at games. And then never touch it again. Well worth your 60 dollars. You can go out and get some blow jobs instead, it'll cost less and be far more entertaining.
- Madcow17, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4I second that. And though i realize it's just a rumor, they're ***** the console crowd as well it seems. joystiq.com reports a rumor (complete with screenshot) implying that no private or party chats will be allowed in most of the modes. If i wish to talk to my friends and play, i'm subjected to only DM, TDM, and 3rd person DM/TDM (from what i gather.) I usually don't take rumors seriously but since infinity ward refused to comment and simply just said "find out nov. 10th!" well, that's just not comforting. I'd rather not pay 60 bucks to find out that i have to chat with the general public. And no, it's not that i'm anti-social, i just enjoy my sanity and ear drums. I really don't want little kids screaming into my ear and singing into the mic, or enraged nerds trying to boss me around.
I pay for my LIVE service seprate from my games, so i'm not cool with them disabling dashboard features in their games. I understand there are exploits in modes like search and destroy where people would "ghost" (give teamates information while being dead or spectators) because the party system wasn't around when MW1 was released yet. I really think they could find a better way around this though. I purchased my xbox to play games with my best friend. Just because I am talking to only him does not mean i'm not being a team player. We work extremely well together and have carried our team to victory on countless occasions. That's not me being egotistical, i just know a lot of people will scream "TEAM GAME! TALK TO YOUR TEAM!" Well sorry, I won't. See, people on live disgust me. This is why i have my headset off unless in a chat with friends.
This REALLY sucks. I was looking forward to this but since IW chooses to be cryptic and not confirm or deny anything, i canceled my pre-order. I won't pay 60$ to find out that i have to talk to the masses. If this rumor ends up not being true, i'll be picking up the game with no problems. Judging by the way IW is choosing to handle it, i'm going to assume there's some validity to it.
/end rant.
If anyone can shed more light on this, that would be awesome.
Edit: I'd be glad to supply a link to the article on joystiq but it's blocked at work. =( - YojanV, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5Having existed mainly under a rock these last months, I still haven't played Modern Warfare 1. Sigh.
- SurrealDream, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Never in my life have I more wanted my name to be "Dave".
- AndrewDB, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4You know it occurs to me.
Doom 2 has now has Mouse control, and graphics settings.
It always had text chat.
Does this mean Id Software is going to re-release it for 60 bucks? - MonkeyNews, on 11/05/2009, -2/+6Well that's where you are wrong. World at War was a perfectly solid and massively popular FPS.
- cbench, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5Wow, I never realized what a bunch of PC fanboys digg is composed of.
I guess it makes sense. Either way, Cod in space?? Hells yea. -
